Mort, congratulations! You seem very humble and appreciative. Obviously very intelligent, it was a pleasure to see you win. I especially enjoyed watching the first year when it first aired. Congratulations again.

Wow, an episode from the first year of $OTC, and in good quality, too. Thanks for this. To see one of the earliest undefeated champions, Summer Bartholomew's predecessor, Lee Manning (who replaced Sally Julian) and the fact that the game was as close to its Australia counterpart, complete with a replica of its set, photos of popular celebrities at the time on the board, instead of the numbers, and a lack of a cash jackpot, is a real treat. Personally, for me, the show's best years were when they changed the set, replaced the photos on the board with numbers and, added both the speed round and the cash jackpot. And while I like Lee, the show really gelled when Summer replaced Lee. This was roughly from mid-1984 to near the end of 1985. I hated that NBC deviated the show from this format.
14:20 YES! All right, Mort! I knew, just knew, you'd have this great episode of you winning the entire $95,000 lot of cash and prizes! Congratulations, buddy!
No Cash Jackpot then, it didn't debut until May 1983, I think May 30th was the first show with it, also the first show with $10 $15 and $25 money cards on the Fame Game
I have them but I haven't looked at them in many years. I'll have to see whether they're in good enough shape to post--and if I can live with the feeling of self-indulgence these posts awaken in me. It's great, though, that people want to see them.
@@mortkamins4943 Well, this IS something very big, you being on America's Biggest Bargain Sale game show (exported from Sydney, Australia's (The Land Down Under) Nine Network). The only big win we see nowadays are from the 1985-86 $OTC syndicated version.
Mort Kamins you did brilliant on your five day appearance what happened to the prizes that you won on your five days and one day I will go to Ireland 🇮🇪. 😀👍
First of all, it is a pleasure to know that you're still with us. I've heard of you but this is the first time I've ever seen you. I've always loved "Sale of the Century" ever since I was a baby. I was actually born the very year it debuted. In conclusion, I'd just like to ask you, kind sir, what took you so long to put this up?
Congrats and thank you so very much for these uploads!! What a treat it has been watching them! I do have one question for you... I've always wondered how long at takes to receive the prizes after you won them.. Do you have to wait until your specific shows aired or do you get them right after? Without the presence of social media i'm sure was a lot easier to keep the results quiet until the show aired. Again, thanks so very much!
Thanks, Kellie--I don't remember exactly how long we had to wait, but it was always after air date. Then, the prizes would start to trickle in and we would look forward to the mail or the UPS truck, wondering what might be coming to us that day.
Mort, first of all congratulations on winning what was a life changing amount of cash and prizes back in 1983 including your tournament win. The reason you have had a few game show fans get excited over the episodes you've posted is that there is quite little in terms of video out there of the first 2 years of "$ale of the Century". Your episodes give us a rare glimpse into those early years especially before the introduction of the cash jackpot. We hope you post more, but you post whatever and how much you want. Because of the limited information, fans of the show are trying to piece together the history of those first years. I hope we don't overwhelm you with questions, so I will just ask one question: how many episodes did it take for you to win everything on the stage?
@@mortkamins4943 That's not what is being asked here. During your first run (before the Tournament of Champions), did you win all the prizes on stage (the car, the boat, and everything else)? That's commonly known as the Lot. And if you did, how long did it take you to win the Lot?

Well, that's a very nice comment. To be clear, I do not write under the pen name of " Douglas Cushman."
I'm laughing at the 'Seal of the Century'. Congrats on all of that!
