    My sister worked at a hotel check in desk during the 80's in KC when Hogan and some other wrestlers came to check in. She was so star struck she kept nervously goofing up to which Hogan soothingly told her everything was alright and engaged in small talk to calm her down. • @rezarfar
      @rezarfar 2 года назад +1

      When you say GOAT, for wrestling, it's a lot more complicated than something like Football, Tennis or Basketball.
      Hogan is on the Mount Rushmore of wrestling but i wouldn't call him the GOAT, it all comes down to what you consider to be a good wrestler, if we're talking the one to draw the biggest box office numbers and PPV revenue.
      That would be Stone Cold in modern times and Andre the Giant in the old days. Hogan was actually a bigger draw in Japan in terms of the spectacle he would put on, in the US it was mainly a big marketing thing.
      If we're talking about the best technical wrestler with in ring abilities, as far as professional wrestling is concerned, the gimmick too, is a lot more subjective, but i would probably have to go for either Undertaker, Bret Hart or HBK.
      But if we're going to talk about legitimate tough badass, probably Brock Lesner, Ken Shamrock or Dan Severn.

    • @rezarfar

    The Rock I feel is the closest thing we’ve ever gotten to another Hulk.
    Stone Cold will eternally be over, but his star power kinda ends at wrestling like Undertaker.
    Cena has that overreaching star power but even at his peak he wasn’t as over as some of the 80’s and 90’s guys.
    The Rock had a rough start in wrestling but ended with literally everything, and is still going long beyond.

      I get the point you’re making and I agree with it overall that nobody really had as much mainstream popularity and awareness as Hogan which was eventually blown out of the water with how gangbusters the rocks success in Hollywood and in his outside business ventures but I do think people should always keep in mind to an extent that for a Stone Cold or Taker it’s not a totally equal comparison as it applies with outside popularity because neither bad or accepted the same level of outside opportunities as those available to the rock at the start of his entry into Hollywood.
      When the Rock began his acting career it helped matters when his first leading offer was a project that actually had a chance to do well compared to Hogan, Austin or Cena who had WWE Studios tiny budget films as their entry into acting and severely hinder the level of success financially and the perception of how you perform on the film and the chances that you will have a chance to pivot into main stream roles that can see actual success to elevate your status in Hollywood like we’ve seen from the rock. Hogan never had any decent roles during his acting career with pretty much every movie he was in being low budget kids movies with cheesy storylines and had low potential to really achieve anything. Stone Cold has had a few supporting cast roles in some strong projects like longesr yard, expendables and grown ups 2. But of the 13 movies he did his first lead role was a WWE Studios movie and 8 of the movies he’s been in were direct to video movies so the chances of seeing any major growth in the industry was low. He has had some pretty successful years hosting reality competition shows though so it hasn’t all been a loss. But those shows are not going to lead to the mainstream impact of major films.
      In terms of Taker who knows what he could have grown to because he didn’t take outside projects for such a long time to protect his character as undertaker so his popularity being contained in wrestling was kinda self imposed to an extent since he limited anything he was involved in to ensure he didn’t do harm to his wrestling persona. Cena fell to the same fate in outside projects too at the start but thankfully he has now been able to get better projects thanks to the rock opening that door for it to be available now. And he’s been doing pretty well. But in the end nobody will hit the level the rock has and that isn’t an insult really. Pretty hard to hit the level where you become the highest paid actor in Hollywood like the rock rose to. But thankfully for future popular wrestlers the success of the rock demonstrated that it’s possible for future people to make the pivot over and have a genuine chance to hit it big when in the past you weren’t going to see much options for leading roles outside of the WWE studios stuff so maybe there will be another wrestler who hits major highs like the rock has been able to do.
