Quality work, been a carpenter for 8 years luckily never had to do this, if i ever have to i will remember this technique. Proper stuff
Cheer for the comment buddy, no I hadn’t had to do it before this, the customer asked me to just cut the bottom of the door off but I really wasn’t happy doing that, this was actually fairly straight forward to do mate 👍🏻

Professional. Great finish. Simples! :-)
Cheers Chris, really appreciate that mate 🍻
Well, I’m just a serious DIYer and your video helped me a lot. Finished the cut down, presently hanging it. I particularly liked the wax stick trick, where you hide the small imperfections. I’d never heard of that! I’ve now ordered mine and can’t wait to mask the tiny gaps. Clear audio too. You deserve an Oscar 😂
@@chrismcandrew1041 that’s awesome mate ! Really glad I could help ! Yes that wax stuff is a life saver at times I can tell you ! Keep me posted with how it comes out !
Great job mate .I’ve got to do the same on my next job ,done it exactly as I was going to do ,great minds ,keep up the good work
I’m really happy with the result mate, came out really well, let me know how you get on with yours buddy 🍻
All sorted bit of struggle had to remove 150mm so could not cut bottom rail off completely, managed with small multi tool blade in end of stile cut through 👍tenon
@@bloggy320 nice mate ! Good solution ! Customer happy ?
Wicked video as always babe!! Xxxx
Thank you babes xxxx
Nice
Cheers buddy 👍🏻
Great idea! I recently had to fit a painted one of these doors that was 1850mm high.
I got quotes from XL and other suppliers. It would have cost around £300-£350 for 1 bespoke factory door and had a 21 week lead time! The price was one thing, but the lead time was too much.
Yes mate unfortunately that’s the reality of bespoke stuff !
Great content mate be interested to see you do a video on doing one of these for a cupboard under stairs with an angled cut on it as well.....as ive got one coming up to do 😂 keep up the good work
I’ll have to see if I get one come up mate, either that or a damaged one. I’ll see if I can get a damaged one to do a video on mate.
Send us a link to that saw mate? Great video as usual
Hi, fantastic vid, clear and easy to follow ( even though I've not actually tried it😂). How do you tackle a door frame thats crooked? In essence, i need to remove 2 mm at the top and bottom BUT about 8 mm in the middle😮. Is there a method to remove the excess from withing the door frame?
Nooice!
Thank you 🍻
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lovely job 👏, what was the wax you used on the gap please, thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you very much buddy, they are called wax filler sticks buddy, google will give you results 👍🏻
@@LTWCarpentry thank you again
@@jimpak1786 your more then welcome 👍🏻
Tidy job that mate 👍 where’d you get that Stanley saw used at 5:30?
Nice one allister ! Really appreciate your comment, I brought mine from eBay mate but I believe Axminster now sell them 👍🏻
Nice one 👍
@@allisterblackwell643 no worries buddy 👍🏻
Hi do you have any videos on reducing the same type of door but reducing the width by 50 mm 25 mm both sides ?
Hi buddy I don’t I’m afraid but yes thats what I would do, I would take out 60mm each side then add 10mm of oak lipping back on each side.
@@LTWCarpentry thank you for your reply, I will have a go at it.
Great video . I wonder if you could give me a little advice, got to trim down a oak veneer door past the allowance I can takeoff 9 mm from the bottom but i have got to take off 30 mm i’m not sure how these doors are put together at the bottom are they hollow inside? If so, I could put a bit of batten up at the bottom does anybody have any ideas what I could do?
Hi Lee, no they are not hallow mate, there as solid core chipboard, you should be fine to cut it down no worries, only thing to consider is it will take on monster if I a wet area, it might be worth putting a thin lipping on the bottom. Hope that helps
Thank you for getting back to me that’s really helpful cheers my friend. 👍
Quick question, are these oak veneer doors easy to repair if they’re scratched?
@@leed3496 not that easy, you can use a damp cloth and an iron to try and raise the grain but depends on how deep the scratch is mate.
Hi What size biscuits did you use please?
Number 20s mate 👍🏻
Brilliant tutorial 👏👏👏
Nice one buddy ! I really appreciate the comment 👍🏻
