At the end of the day sausages are a way of making use of cheap/unwanted parts of an animal to stop it being wasted, I'd rather the parts be used than thrown away.
Sausage has always been away to use up the fiddly bits. I dont understand whats so disgusting about using pork skin and fat, its the same as pork belly isn't it? I get the feeling she'd be just as grossed out by the use of organ meat. Dont get me wrong, the poor quality of these cheap sausages is notgood, but the whole modern mentality of what meat bits are and are not gross is really wasteful.
I wish we could get that crap anywhere near as cheap here x-x even the cheapest sausages are like 5 dollars a package here and they're made of the exact same stuff, it sucks to be a student ahah
Where do you think the concept of sausage came from? It was invented as a way to use these otherwise worthless scraps of meat and animal tissue. Jeez lady, it's like complaining that particle board is made out of compressed sawdust...
Big deal skin tendons and connective tissues. A lot of dishes troughout the world use these parts. We should be happy to find clever recipes like sausages to use parts of an animal that goes into the bin usually.
does anyone else find this woman slightly condescending? The vast majority know that the value range isn't the healthiest, hence why they have a variety from the cheap to the high quality, it's just what people can afford.
What do people really think how sausages were originally supposed to be? They're originally supposed to have parts that people usually don't eat by being in a form that most people can enjoy them. What sense would it make if sausages just had huge lean meat content in them? I would just go to a store and buy myself fillet with cheaper cost probably as i dont stuff my sausages with lean meat.
I'm confused...I was under the impression that everyone knew what they were getting when they bought sausage. It's not like butchers are grinding up tenderloins and making sausages out of them for shits and giggles. They're grinding up stuff that would otherwise go to waste and putting it in animal intestines, though many use synthetic casings today. If that grosses you out, then just don't fucking eat it, but don't act shocked about what goes into sausage. It's not pretty.
I always just assume that any sausage is made up of lips, peckers, assholes, and other sundry parts which I'd probably rather not know about but still make for a delicious sausage.
1) Sausages need a higher fat content, or else they're dry as f 2) If you buy a pack of sausages for like 2 bucks and expect a high quality, you're just plain stupid.
Dominik S 1. did you ever go out of UK ??? there are REAL sausages being sold around europe for the same price. 2. they take advantage of people like you and make you eat 70% bread & chemicals and you defend them and their prices...you must have lost your mind or maybe you`re just plain stupid
An expose on sausage...wtf you think is in a sausage for gods sake lol? Its not health food also its a sin to waste an animal. If your going to kill the animal for food purpose at least let the animal and all of the animal go to good use..
Also, connective tissue and especially fat can be cooked away by simply cooking the sausages longer. Higher fat content will help ensure your sausage stays moist and is easier to cook.
A good sausage is 70% meat and 30% fat as far as I'm concerned. Enough meat to be substantial and enough fat that it doesn't lose all its flavour or dry out.
heres an unpopular opinion: its good that we are using the whole pig, connective tissue, skin, whatever. It is bad to waste. I do agree however that the additives and things should be kept out.
i have sausages factory i use meat 65% and 30% kidney fat and sheep fat 2to 3% Spices with salt no any powder no pork no sheep meat which is cost me more .. thank you
Supermarkets don't care about food culture they care about profits, so if you're buying the cheapest Tescos curly brown you should know what to expect! Go to a good butcher and get a real British 'BANGER'!, end of.
80%meat, 15% fat, 5% breadcrumb user here. Make my own sausage at home, filler bits are understandable (the breadcrumbs) because it acts as both a binder and a stretcher for how much I can make out of the meat. I highly doubt I'd notice if there was 5% more breadcrumbs or whatnot in a sausage. Besides, if you're buying TESCO of all things you should understand perfectly well that it's going to be "acceptable" at best. Want the good stuff? That costs extra.
What a waste, I didn't know England was a wasteful and picky as Americans were when it comes to meat. In Asia sinew, connective tissue, cartilage, etc is a delicacy. Tsk tsk On the other hand, I thought u guys ate blood sausages, now that's gross imo.
I make my own sausage so I know exactly what's in it. If I didn't care or I had to buy it I would sample the available varieties and buy the one that tastes best and ingredients be damned.
You guys are going to scare people away from connective tissue... STOP THAT connective tissue is the only thing that makes ribs SO AMAZING. It's what gives food that unctuous stick to your ribs deliciousness. Connective tissue itself is NOT a negative thing, having that much in it is sure, just don't go making everything so over dramatic...
Bought venison sausages from the shop a few days ago for a stew. It only tells you on the back of the packaging in small print that the sausages are made from a mix of venison and pork. They tasted nothing like venison. Always read your labels. I thought this video was pretty educational.
I'm ok with water and breadcrumbs but I definitely want "meat" to mean meat. Labels were meant to help companies save money. I also don't consider fat as "meat". Muscle is meat. I thought were were all agreed on that.
I liked the part with Gordon Ramsay in it.
LoLoLoLoL
Barely legal banger.
Sounds like a Brazzers movie.
The really expensive ones are made from people.
you just ruined my fucking appetite mate!
yum
Someone's got to eat the lower quality parts of meat, and cheap sausages are a way of making them taste nice.
They're called Americans.

Spend 50p on 8 sausages and you expected them to be incredible quality? What do you expect?
I wish we could get that crap anywhere near as cheap here x-x even the cheapest sausages are like 5 dollars a package here and they're made of the exact same stuff, it sucks to be a student ahah
Jimmy Watson the problem here is not that they cost 1 pound but the fact that they call them SAUSAGES
Where do you think the concept of sausage came from? It was invented as a way to use these otherwise worthless scraps of meat and animal tissue. Jeez lady, it's like complaining that particle board is made out of compressed sawdust...
"Barely Legal Banger" I got that pr0n on Blu Ray!
Big deal skin tendons and connective tissues. A lot of dishes troughout the world use these parts. We should be happy to find clever recipes like sausages to use parts of an animal that goes into the bin usually.

Where is Gordon Ramsay?
Fat and connective tissues are what gives sausages their flavor. If it's just meat, it's going to be drier and taste worse.
christpunchers Yes, but don't call it meat.
The people that campaign for this sort of shit are also the same people who campaign that there's too much waste...

Am I weird for thinking grissle, sinew and fat sound delicious when you add salt and wrap em in pig skin.
The host seems like a naive snob... fat and connective tissue is flavor. Sausages need flavor. Sausages need fat and connective tissue.
I like a sausage that is 70% meat, 20% fat, 10% fillers like breadcrumbs, seasonings and herbs
A good sausage is 70% meat and 30% fat as far as I'm concerned. Enough meat to be substantial and enough fat that it doesn't lose all its flavour or dry out.
If you want a good sausage, buy Polish or German sausages.
heres an unpopular opinion: its good that we are using the whole pig, connective tissue, skin, whatever. It is bad to waste. I do agree however that the additives and things should be kept out.
Why waste any part of an animal? Black pudding is the finest of all food products and it's made from blood
If it's safe and legal then WHO CARES? If they taste good then that's all that matters.
0:22 Illuminati confirmed....
i have sausages factory i use meat 65% and 30% kidney fat and sheep fat 2to 3% Spices with salt no any powder no pork no sheep meat which is cost me more ..
thank you
Mmmm... Why did you put me to your G+ circles ? :D Anyway... It would be nice to have sausege factory :D
The F Word - Promoting food Snobbery, because Jamie Oliver, the BBC and Food Critics don't do it enough
we know this!! as long as it's safe and tastes fine who cares?
Doc said it was just a chunk of polish sausage lodged in my heart.
Why waste, use it all
Supermarkets don't care about food culture they care about profits, so if you're buying the cheapest Tescos curly brown you should know what to expect! Go to a good butcher and get a real British 'BANGER'!, end of.
Supermarket sausages are shit anyway, go to a butcher and get proper quality

If you are paying 49p for 8 sausages, expect a homeless mans unwashed used socks in there. Why are people surprised??
I make my own sausage so I know exactly what's in it. If I didn't care or I had to buy it I would sample the available varieties and buy the one that tastes best and ingredients be damned.

Yes but how much horse?
They cost under a fucking pound!
just cow meat from the neck and chest you can find it in any butcher shop and cheaper than other places of meat like leg or shoulder
Bought venison sausages from the shop a few days ago for a stew. It only tells you on the back of the packaging in small print that the sausages are made from a mix of venison and pork. They tasted nothing like venison. Always read your labels. I thought this video was pretty educational.
Who cares? It's better to use all that stuff than have it just wasted.
They could make sausages out of the pigs actual shit and as long as it tastes the same I will eat it.
The presenter is beautiful. UK chicks are pretty :D
49p for 8 sausages, who gives a shit when ur paying that price like
I....i..I really don't care what's In it if its chicken piss and It tastes nice il eat it
That is why you buy ground up meat and prepare your own sausage.
Haha barely legal banger 😆😆
Makes ya think
Germany makes the best sausages
This is not true.
30% "meat" ??? those CANNOT be sausages, maybe just here in UK
anywhere else in the world you could not call those things sausages except UK
come to germany, get real sausages here. i'll never understand why other countrys dont just copy the way we make them...so much better
