Hi! My name is Mel (aka) Back from Burnout! My own update: I only had 2 sales yesterday and no sales today (and it's 6pm)! After selling almost 20 items this past weekend, it's really disappointing. But it's my own fault for not listing the last few days. But I did buy a couple more items to resell and already made drafts for them while I was waiting for a Lowe's Pick-up order! Multi-tasking for the win at least. I'm going to force myself to photograph some stuff tonight. I WILL GET MY DEATH PILE LISTED!
Edit: the moment I posted this comment, I got an offer for an item! Granted it was a bit lower than I'd like, I'm going to take it anyways because I don't want to go a day without a sale after going to long with at least one daily.
Next day update: I had to pick up my first online auction win this morning. Paid almost $600 for 36 gun holsters (same model with right and left hand so multi-quantity listings) and hoped to make $1000-1800 profit. Decided it best to list right away and sure enough, sold one in less than 2 hours for full price. At 3 sales for the day ($150 total) already which totally beats the 3 days with less than $15 in sales this week! Motivated me to list the bin of clothes I've accumulated. Got 8 listed, with another 14 photographed! Productive day for sure. Can't wait for the sales boost in another day or two!

A lot of comments in here about getting stickers off of items to sell. Nail polish remover and a QTip. The nail polisher remover has acetone in it which is what hospitals use to get adhesive off of patients who have had bandages on them for a while.

Tom almost cracked a smile when you asked him if he did all his listings. I don’t know how to take him. He doesn’t act nice to you but he does really nice things for you. I think he has a soft spot for you 😉. Keep up the good work. It almost seems like you are running out of room in the new warehouse already!!!!

He is misunderstood by some. It took me a while to work him out also lol. He means business but wants nothing but the best for me and to see me hit my goals. He’s a fast, no excuses type guy.
My sales are down 90% for the past 20 days. Something is wrong with eBay this month. It’s not just you, lots of us are messed up.
Mine too. Gone from 10 sales plus a day to one sale if I'm lucky. Crazy and so frustrating.

He sells CD, DVD and books. He is in the Daily Refinement and Technsports Patreon group but he has been operating his SKU like this long before he knew about the group. But he does love the group!!!

Tom has a huge warehouse and if he does 400 listings in a day and wants to list 1000 that’s crazy town how many employees does he have ? Wow impressive. Love the warehouse dogs. Your energy and the operation are looking good I’m thinking your warehouse will have to grow a bit to have the pallet jack Tom has it right no driving for you 😅❤
Just saw a video where someone contacted the ebay tech support, Ebay is switching from "global shipping" to "international shipping program" and its messing up who sees your stuff, therefore your store is slow because no where near the amount of views youre supposed to be getting..... they say they are working on it
And I do like the "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" ! After you met my daughter Sammy last week, I told her all about what you do and the $ signs started rolling in her head... she has now set up her own Ebay account and it looks like I'll need to throw some of my inventory her way :)

That's fantastic! My 6yo nephew is intrigued by the eBay process and soon I'll set him up so he can get selling. He LOVES thrifting with me and has a remarkable eye for one so young. I'm really keen to teach all the kids in the family to be self starting and as self sufficient as possible. In addition to thrifting and eBay we grow our own food, keeps hens etc. The kids just love it and they love hearing the "kerching" on my phone as things sell 😃

Hi Mel! Your new set up is looking great! I have two questions. Why do you do a daily coupon code versus a weekly or monthly? Also, could we see a tour of your friend's warehouse? How many items does he have? Would love to hear more about his business too. Those shelves were insanely high!
Awww daughter mother A team. Team work makes the dream work. Your daughter is a star. My parents used to make me help them with their business and I hated it 😅😅😅 However it did really make me bond with my parents. Like friends now. Before that we didn't talk at all because they were always working 7 days a week 😢

Well done Maisie. She looks just like you Mel. Lovely to have a helper. Maybe if as you say that was a help that maybe worth looking into getting someone in for a few hours just to help with photos. Will just have to make sure they understand what to look for otherwise you will be going over their work or getting some NADs. Always a problem when you get someone in.

I always found when I worked myself to almost punishment. Things do not work out. When I enjoyed what I am doing without feeling really awful I got the best results. Punishment is not the name of living life. Always do better in all areas of life when I feel good not under extreme stress. The 150 was not enjoyable in any shape or form. Don’t work harder for no results. God favours people who are happy not stressed.
Sometimes we need a push to find motivation again and Thom knows some of the big goals I have coming up and something I am saving for so he’s helping me to make sure those good things happen in my life :)

Thom is such a great motivator but not great at giving confidence for using machinery. I believe you could definitely use a picker given some training and the way you’re going I reckon you will need pallet racking like Thom has in your warehouse.

I think these constant glitches are killing eBay. It seems to always be something with them. In the USA, they canceled GSP in favor of eIS and it’s basically broke eBay here.

That’s great x 2! It’s all about what works for you. I’m only doing this challenge for 5 days so it’s not designed to break me just motivate me to list more and sell more. Thom knows I’m saving for something big that needs some extra funds :)

I use a old blow dryer to heat up stubborn labels - they come off so much easier once heated up
DEREK --I have a heat gun for taking off paint, it's exceptional for taking off all those box stickers, old Amazon tape, anything that's on something recycled, nothing tackier than selling something on another platform and having branding from someplace else... it also works for books, just have to be a little bit more careful,all that leftover hand sanitizer is excellent for cleaning books...- I have it outside permanently plugged in, it rests on a Farberware 12in pan lid I probably should sell...LAXVESPA-LOSANGELES
My roommate got something off of Poshmark, poorly packed all that Amazon tape, crushed box... you always tape the seams & the ends in kind of an I pattern.... or buy yourself some brown paper tape $ maybe even a paper tape machine...

Best decision I had was getting some in to do photos. Now have a bank of approx 800 listings. Now I have time for all the other stuff that needs to get done. Giving the x10 challenge a go as well. Keep up the good work

*Something to consider* .. Don't trash your unit. You can replace the broken leg .. or .. chop the damaged pc & make a shorter unit .. or .. save the pcs for future damaged units.
*The Auction Professor* made a video about some current glitches.

Yep me too. I normally just list 5-10 a day and sell about 3-5 a day but the last few days extremely slow. I thought it was the economy here in Australia catching up with everyone but maybe it is EBay

A lot of us around the World are having low sales...something really wrong with Ebay these days. It makes you feel like you are doing something wrong and gives you second thoughts on reselling at times :( but have to keep pushing on! Great advice from Tom also.....even though he didn't hit his target lol

Mel for pictures, since you take them with a phone. I recommend buying a landyard that hangs around your neck and holds the phone, it is much easier to use.

Thinking about the rules of the 10x game, does Tom actually have as many individual items as you? I'd presumed that things like the 40,000 playstation (or whatever) wouldn't be listed individually?
Recently, you spoke about a lady who'd contacted you looking for a couple of Womens Weekly softcover cookbooks. Are they the 19cm x 13cm books or the smaller 16cm x 11cm books? I have an apple box full of them and in a couple of weeks, the place I acquired most of them from is having another sale and there's bound to be more. I'm happy to look through mine for titles for you.
I've been trying to list a few day but can't seem to get the system to accept drafts despite the listing being complete other than the photos. Even when I add a couple of token photos, just for now, the darned this won't save. Grrrr. So frustrating especially as I'm so unwell. So for now, I just need to do what I can and let the troubles go through to the keeper. Some day soon, I'll be kickin' arse again!! Cheers, Simone ☕🍪
Ring video, Mel. We were on holiday for 10 days and I had our eBay store on time away for 12 days the day before we came back I took the store off time away and I had 40 items scheduled for listing to get my store up and go in again we didn’t have a sale For two straight days. Ebay was definitely having some issues.
My sales have been dead lately too! I just went from being a Top-Rated Seller to 'Above Standard'. This sucks. I thought it was just because it was the 1st quarter, but they should be picking up now!
Oddly enough, I just called Ebay to see why my rating went down to Above Standard and was that my bump down was because, back in November, I took a book out of stock. Well, what, pray tell, is wrong with that? It's my freaking book and if I want to take it out of my store, I should be able to do that! And I don't see how they're only showing ONE listing I did that to back in November because I actually do that all the time. For example, I had a book on growing roses listed and then I found two more books on growing roses, so I took the book on roses down and created a new listing with all 3 books on roses.
I also take listings down and relist them if they aren't selling.
Anyway, the "defect department" is supposed to call me between 24-48 hours. I guess I'll find out why that was consider a "defect" worthy of taking me down a notch. Very odd. I've been selling on Ebay since 1998. And they're just NOW deciding this is a problem??????

Ebay is messed up. I live on the East Coast of the US. Most of my sales now are on the East Coast. Prior to that most of the sales were West Coast. Ebay is bipolar
PS: I find leaving a folded baby wipe on top of price labels helps to remove them without damaging the covers (even most dustcovers) without losing fingernails. You might need to cut the baby wipe down a bit.
Well done Mel on reaching your target for day one! Maybe the slow sales is giving you a bit of a break so you can get on your feet with the challenge. I watched a video by The Auction Professor a couple of days ago... "This eBay Glitch Why You Have No Sales?" where he shows how many items are showing as "this listing has been removed/is unavailable", even when they are active! He's in the US, not sure if it's happening elsewhere but it's a bit concerning.
Seems that theres always this pattern of ebay giving consecutive big days then suddenly a slowdown.. first time i saw shelves bent like that... ill watch out.. got thanks for the hint where to source the books.. waiting for the fair here in Sydney next month.. dumb question...will the books and shelves survive the cold environment in your storage? I keep mine inside..
