Awesome video, great strategy. I have 20 Dollar Tree locations near me. I'm going to make it a fun day and visit all of them. I'll find books at the first one and then look for the same books at the rest.
Hey man, I really like these types of videos where its not just someone talking infront of a camera, and instead applying skills in real world situations. It gives a lot of good insight to a new seller like me. I have a question though, is polybagging required for books, would you get a complaint from amazon or the customer if you didn't do it?
Poly bags are not required for books. I like to polybag books that I’m selling as new, it adds a small layer of protection. I wouldn’t bother polybagging used books, it’s a waist of time and money in my opinion. Never had a complaint or issue with selling books on Amazon
Great video thank you. So I see your selling the book as new which I know that it is. But as what was brought up to me on a few of the Facebook groups for Amazon book sellers is that if jt gets questioned how do you prove that the book is new? You don’t have an invoice from a distributor or publisher. And Amazon won’t except a sales receipt.
Dude, you crack me up! Also very informative, though. I used to buy used books and resell through FBA from 2007-2015. Thinking about getting back into it. So it's good to know that it's still viable. Thanks!
Can you tell me more about the price you choose to sell at? You said you had a break even price point & sold for way more than Amazon. Also Josh, can you please tell us if we need to shrink wrap, & poly if selling as New or just over say $40 or a Set? Do you poly all books so warehouse hands don't tear them up. A video on your shipping process would be great. Thanks!
I usually match the current lowest fba price when creating a shipment. And I try and pick products that will rarely or never go below my break even point by looking at price averages for the past 90, 180, 365 days. I poly bag books and place the Amazon fnsku on the outside of the poly bag and not directly on the book
Hello there - great video. Are you still using profitl? Do you know if they have downloaded databases? Ie. If I'm scanning books in an area without internet. Thanks!
When you say items sold for more (or less) than you thought they would sell for, is that because you controlled that and decided on a higher (or lower) amount when listing it? I'm just learning about this...trying to get my head around it! Thanks for sharing!
Typically I’ll set the item at the price I’d like to sell it for and let it sit, if it hasn’t sold in about 60 days I’ll adjust my price and sometimes sell it for less than I intended. Sometimes I can sell it for more than I initially thought because all the other sellers sold out and dropped off the listing
Josh great stuff man glad YT recommended your channel. Question I have, what listing app are you using? I mainly sell books at this time and use Scanlister. When I start RA and OA thats not going to make the cut. Your advice is appreciated.
I’ve never used scanlister. I use scoutify2 when I’m in a store to add products to a shipment in inventory lab. The only apps I use besides the Amazon seller app is scoutify2, Profitl, and keepa.
@@UnstoppableJosh follow up question, inventory Lab and profitl are they somewhat similar. To me seems like Profitl is on steroids. Would you tell your friend to start with Keepa and Scoutfy2 then as they get larger in sales to bring in profitl?
Inventory lab is more for creating fba shipments and managing inventory, profit/loss. Keepa and Profitl are more for sourcing and finding products when you’re in the store. You don’t necessarily need inventory lab or scoutify2 when you first start but having either keepa, Profitl or some other sourcing app is basically mandatory in my opinion
@@UnstoppableJosh Josh thank you for the insight it is truly appreciated!!! Can’t wait to see how you move forward through you videos with all the new thing’s coming from Amazon in the future.
Hello josh! Thank you so much for the informative videos. I was needing a little help and wondered if you could give me a couple of pointers about how to prep a men's gabardine Blazer 44 short? I have all the correct size bags just wondered do I roll it up and bag it? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Pat
I’m not an expert on blazers but I normally I put them in an 18x24 poly bag and fold it as few times as possible, usually twice. Never had any complaints. Rolling it up might be a better option. I only pick up suits if the rio is awesome and worth the risk of returns/complaints
Thanks! I have an eyoyo scanner I believe can be connected to Profitl but I never use it. I’ve never used turbolister or accerlist. I use inventory lab for listing
Do you have a video about how you package the items you sell? Like the process from when an order comes in TO the post office 😬 ... Do you have to use Amazon labels or could you ship using Media Mail via PirateShip or something ....
I do not have a video for shipping books. If you ship them directly to the customer the cheapest way is to purchase the label is usually through your Amazon account which will be media mail or ups ground. One of the next videos I’m going to do is showing how to sell books including how to ship them (the entire process). To this day I still don’t think anyone’s made a good video on RUclips
For books I will put them in a poly bag to make it look like I at least tried to protect it and place the fnsku label on the outside, not directly on the book. For DVDs I just slap the fnsku label right on it because it’s already shrink wrapped. Then it all gets piled together in an appropriate size box
The basic Profitl app is only $12.50 a month and if you use my code (JOSH20) it’s like $10 a month. For used books I just slap an fnsku label right on the book. For dollar tree books I polybag them to give it a little more protection
I don’t think think they had multiple copies of any of the books I bought that day. There’s nothing wrong with grabbing multiple copies of decent selling books
@UnstoppableJosh I live on the West Coast. It seems like a small majority here don't have profitable books. I get the impression. from watching these videos that the ones located in the Midwest have better merchandise.
You explain stuff like we're new. easy to follow. everyone else is a fast talker, like we should now. I'm a fan
Love your Channel! You are so pro yet so patient and humble, and all the info here is very useful. Thx for brining up the Profitl app btw.❤
I learn so much when you scan items and break down your decision making process! Much appreciated :)
Thank you! Happy I can help

Yes i still use Profitl. I’m actually not sure if they have a downloadable database. It might not be the best app if you’re doing a lot of books

I’m pretty hooked to your channel, man. Thoughts on Profitl vs Profit Bandit?
Profitl is better than profit bandit. Profitl is a newer app and it has every single piece of data you need all in one app. Well worth the money
How much is the profitl app per month? So for books you just stick a Amazon label over the bar code and put it in a box and it's good to go?
The basic Profitl app is only $12.50 a month and if you use my code (JOSH20) it’s like $10 a month. For used books I just slap an fnsku label right on the book. For dollar tree books I polybag them to give it a little more protection
Do I have to be ungated in books ? If so is there a video with directions on the quickest way?
Anyone can sell books. You don’t need to get ungated.
do you directly stick the amazon barcode onto the upc?
I usually polybag the book and put the Amazon barcode on the polybag so it’s not touching the book directly
Is there a reason that you didn't buy multiple copies of each book and/or DVD? I'm assuming there was more than one copy of what you purchased.
I don’t think think they had multiple copies of any of the books I bought that day. There’s nothing wrong with grabbing multiple copies of decent selling books
I agree. Thanks for your response.

They have caught on here and quadrupled their price of books and there is little mark up now on most, at least here based on amazon prices.
You're so right about Dollar Tree cashiers. They look like zombies and they never even speak.
It’s an epidemic
What percentsge of dollar trees have profitsble books?
A majority of dollar trees will have at least a handful of profitable books/DVDs
