Hi! My name is Mel (aka) Back from Burnout! And if you’re a reseller wanting to learn how to sell on eBay and how I run a successful eBay business selling second hand items from the thrift store then this is DEFINITELY the place for YOU! On this channel, I upload 2-3 videos a week surrounding topics such as tips for selling on eBay and how to make money selling stuff on eBay. I help you get a better understanding of what it's like being a full time eBay reseller and I'll show you what I do all day as a eBay reseller in my weekly reselling vlogs. And I basically answer any and all questions any eBay resellers may have who are looking to grow their eBay business!
Used books here in the USA don’t hold much value unless they’re antique/classics. The amount of $ you get for your books blows my mind, but so awesome that you’re able to make that kind of $ on used books. ❤️ I love your packing videos.
She's like a mini Amazon in their beginning stages.😂❤ love it
It's 106 here and summer is just beginning .... then we see Mel in a cute cap. Gotta love the worldwide pack!
Winter and freezing in the concrete ice box warehouse ha ha
Very cute in a hat
It's funny I can see some videos by other RUclipsrs and there 8 minutes... I think it's too long so I won't watch. But when you post a video no matter how long it is and I watch it 😂
Yay! Thank you! That’s awesome!
R I P Dr Mosley.
So sad
I love this type of video along with the pick n packs because I'm nosy! 😄 I like to see what other people are buying.
Thanks for the feedback!
I am so happy for you that the used book market works in Australia. Here in the US we have too many online companies selling books for pennies. Unless you have something very unusual or vintage, you just can't make the kind of money you do - even with bundles. Like everyone else here in the US I'm enjoying seeing you in your hat. Makes me feel that cooler weather will come here.
Also US Post Office is very rough on books. There is no way I could put a book in a envelope it would have to be in a box.
@@vintageviola36banks24in Australia parcels are moved from one place to another on velvet cushions in limousines. Each parcel has a person fanning them if they get hot, who will also wrap blankets around them if the parcel gets cold.
@@emusaurus😂😂😂
@emusaurus ….😂😂😂😂❤
I know lots of America book sellers on eBay making in the hundreds of thousands a year :). It can be done it’s just about researching what things sell for in your area and hunting those items down.
It never ceases to amaze me the appetite people have for recipes by authors who died young.
I own the Percy Jackson Greek Gods book and was excited to see it would sell for so much, until I looked up comps in the US and saw it only sells for about $5 here 😢
No way! Really?
I could listen to you talking all day. Adore the accent ❤❤
I thought foxing meant dog ears... oh boy, I got some listings to fix
It's 110 degrees Fahrenheit here in Arizona, it looks so strange to see you in a stocking cap!
How funny "stocking cap" it's called a beanie here haha
Beanie stocking cap it’s all the same
Stocking cap. Wow I’ve never heard that term lol.
Yes we call it a beanie here. I can’t live without them at the moment and have constant hat hair 🤣
It is actually called a toque 😉🇨🇦
Great haul, Mel! LOL, I didn't even know there were that many sauces to fill a large book. I do love sauces, though!I didn't think classical music CD's would sell well, if at all. There must be a lot of cultured people in Australia. If you have a bundle of violin concertos, or anything violin related, add the keywod 'Strings,' to your listing. As room allows, add the composers, the conductors, and the orchestra's, along with the artist's, in addition to the name of the piece.
Yes strings is a keyword I use and I try to find all the strings CDs and lot them together. Good keywords sure help to sell any item.
I’ve never really sold music either but I see how much Thom sells and it’s good to experiment with something new sometimes.
Edgar Wallace, I knew I'd heard that name before. In the lyrics to the 90s dance hit "The Dead Eyes Opened".
Interesting!
Here from Tech. So glad I found you! Starting my book journey after just 4 short month if clothing reselling ❤️ I may regret this but Iove books!😂
You got this!
Mel, consider adding word Charcuterie Board to your grazing board book lot titles. (Of course I'm not recommending changing the book title just talking about adding when you have extra spaces in title and description for more views.). Charcuterie Board is a more popular term in the US than grazing boards, though it may be generational as well. I've heard many discuss that the resurgence of Charcuterie and Grazing Boards is because so many Millennials grew up on Lunchables that they see the boards as 'grown up'. Regardless of why, they're huge in the US and many entrepreneurs are starting their own side and full-time hustles creating elaborate boards for office parties, weddings, birthdays, etc.
Interesting! I’ll try that. Now to remember how to spell it 🤣
We say in the US “you snooze you loose”…….good for you on the CD lots, your time spent lotting them up paid off!
Sure did! I’m glad I experimented with them. Interesting learning journey.
You are so educational. I love how you explain things.
Thank you! That’s great feedback and I appreciate you watching!
As a (long) retired bookseller, I sense you are rapidly climbing up the learning curve. I enjoyed today's video. :>)
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
I really love your accent (side note) and how well organized you have become. It's very inspiring! And thanks for always explaining how things are referenced in Australia vs the US. I'm a New Yorker and to some we have accents too. 😅
Thank you for the feedback!
Great video as always Mel. Just FYI the book with the forword by Dr Moseley was written by Dr Claire Bailey who was his wife.
Yes I realised that after reading the news about him. How sad for their family. Tragic.
103 degrees today and watching you in a knit hat. Lol
Freezing here in winter lol. I have so many layers on also
I very much enjoy watching you work in your store. Thanks for another great video!
Thanks for watching!
I love, love, loved your video. The picking and packing, the haul and especially the SLOW MOTION DROP OF THE BOOK (lol). You are doing great I hope you make a lot of money with this haul!! Have a Good Week!!!
Thank you so much!!
Luv the slow-mo replay ❤️
🤣
This is my favourite kind of video. Big fan if seeing what sold so I can live vicariously through you. I have the Brothers Grimm version of the Hans Christian Anderson book you showed from childhood. I didn't even know it was a print series.
Thank you so much! His illustrated books are just beautiful
7 video's dropped in 2 weeks Mel ! Loving the content... just don't overdo it, otherwise #BackFromBurnout2 will be a real thing! Much love from Sunny Sydney... FYI.. 2 good Book Fairs coming up in July up here in the big smoke!
I love how many videos you have put out recently Mel, it's awesome! Your bit on doing bundles that make sense made me laugh, when I first started selling books I did a bundle with Pretty Little Liars and Billie B Brown because I was doing a 'girl's bundle', lol, gee I wonder why that didn't sell!! My daughter still laughs at me for that 😂
Ha ha that made me giggle
🤣🤣🤣
It’s so true though and one of the biggest mistakes resellers make when new and starting to bundle.
“Now that he’s passed away if I see him in the store of course I’m going to pick him up!” 🤣😂🤣
Sadly that’s how it works with supply and demand
@@backfromburnout it just sounded funny the way it was worded.
@@chappy675I knew what she meant - Same thing happens with paintings and artists 🤗
How I’m I only just finding out from your videos that it gets freezing in Australia. I honestly thought Australian winters were just warm rather than hot I thought it was only the mountains that are cold. I’m so dumb 😂
In QLD it stays fairly warm in winter. But I live in Canberra and we experience all four seasons. When it’s hot it’s hot and when it’s cold it’s cold!! I’m only a couple hours from the snow fields.
I love seeing what you are buying and your thoughts around price and bundles, then what is selling. Keep these great videos coming. 😊
After watching your last video about the SKUs I went through my clothing inventory and fixed all the SKUs. Already making a huge difference in being able to locate things. Thank you! Now to add the date is brilliant.
SKU is the most important part. Even new sellers or small sellers should always start with a good SKU.
I have been following for awhile, and love your videos! I wish our book selling on eBay in the US was like yours in Australia 😢 I used to sell on Amazon years ago, but it's changed so much, really don't want to go back to them. But thank you for the other eBay tips you offer have helped so much!! Keep on selling!!
I love the date idea Mel
It works for me!
We live in the suburbs of Memphis, TN - heat index will be around 101 (temp around 90…) this Saturday & the high humidity will be 89%… I call it melting weather. I’ve heard that Arizona heat is more dangerous since you don’t sweat as much?
It’s winter here so very cold in the warehouses as they’re just a big concrete room.
Your memory is so amazing!
I like to constantly learn about things.
@backfromburnout I do too its an ADHD thing ..retentive memory for things that you're interested in..lol
Recently sold a Jamie Oliver 5 Ingredients book bundled with the Veg Book, bundling definitely helped 😊
Yep in a saturated market got to stand out with added value.
I thank you for making this channel you are a beautiful nice honest person ✨️ 💕
You are so welcome! Thank you for your kind comments always.
you are spoiling me with these uploads❤🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🔥
Enjoy! Thanks for watching them!
Awesome job Mel! Thanks for posting more. Watching your business grow is fascinating. Plus you seem to be getting even better at talking to the camera. You Rock!
Thanks so much!
First of all, I'm amazed you get so much for your books. Secondly, there is no way those books would make it through the US Mail simply in a bubble envelope. Reflects highly on your postal service!
I was thinking the exact same thing about the bubble envelopes.
I saw her putting a stack of CDs into a bubble mailer. My first reaction is the USPS machine is going to eat that thing for breakfast.
They’re very strong padded mailers and water resistant. I never have any complaints.
@@backfromburnout - they look exactly like ones used here by USPS - doesn't stop stuff from being destroyed in them. I've purchased many a book from other people whose corners arrive completely ruined. Good on you that your service allows them to arrive safely!! :)
Great tip to list date of purchase in sku, I will start doing this, very helpful! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and all the comments x
Well done once again !
I am learning so much about eBay from you. Keep up the good work
Glad to hear it! Thank you!
Great content Mel. You offer so many tips and tricks for the up and coming book re-seller. Your experience is invaluable and you are very generous to share with the community. Love your work! ❤ Excellent sales btw. Well done. 😊
Glad it was helpful! Hopefully my tips resonate for non book sellers also. I like to do things that can cross between all genres because sometimes as resellers we have to pivot with what we sell and we want the same systems to carry across and work if we do.
Have you done a video where you go through some books and show how you label them and decide a price?
Probably not a specific video as such but has been discussed in videos. Do you mean title when you say label?
@@backfromburnout I mean what qualities of a book get you to label excellent or acceptable.
Thanks for another great video!
Glad you like them!
Absolutely loved this video! Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
You always brighten my day 😁🥰
I'm so glad!
Another great informative video.
Thank you!
Great video as always ❤
Thank you 🤗
Oh I got a little excited when you show the Percy Jackson's Greek Gods Book sold comp, as that was my listing. 😊 it did take a while for it to sell unfortunately and took a best offer on it too
Great sale price! I’d be happy with $40 on that book but now seeing your price I’ll aim for more! Well done!
@@backfromburnoutn
Thanks for sharing. I have learned so much from you❤
I'm so glad!
Oh bless you Mel “Michael Moseley, he’s going to be hot for a while”! Well he died of heat exhaustion so yes he probably will be!
Eeeek
Great video Mel!! Congrats on the cd’s
Thank you!! 😁
Outstanding and very informative video.
Glad you liked it!
Great video! It’s interesting books going up in value when the author passes away. I collect Shirley Barber books and I pickup any of hers anyway when thrifting so I have started to bundle up my double ups to sell in my eBay store and they have started to sell really well! I got $52 for a lot of 9 of her books this week, it was only listed for a few days.
Perfect! That’s exactly what we want!
Well done Mel 😊 Thank you 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Great video!! 😊❤
Thank you! 🤗
Thank you, as always, for your insights Mel. I learn so much from you. x
That’s perfect! Thank you!
Thanks
Have you got a full stocktake planned? Always wonder how many listings may have dropped off!
When the shelves get half full I try to do a shelf at a time. When I move warehouses I’ll try and do a full stocktake
Always happy to listen to you and some of the moments I just laugh out loud all alone!
Love you Kristie x
Hi Mel.you have been crushing it in all categories keep up the great content such a fan girl!
Thank you for your time and video,!!😊

Glad you like them! Thank you!
You and Tom had a great day picking for selling.❤

Another great video Mel….lots of very interesting information….. keep up the great work 👏👏👏👍
Thank you! Will do!
Man the rate of these videos - lovin in!
Thank you! I’m glad!
Hi Mel, enjoyed your video.
A title word for a grazing cookbook
Is charcuterie board.
Yes! Thank you! I’ll start using that as keyword!
Mel this type of video is very interesting and knowledgeable,,,,one of my favorites!
Thank you for the feedback!
😀👍very informative video. Thanx
Thank you for the feedback!
I think you should read every book before you list it - that way you can tell the potential buyer whether or not the book 📕 is any good.
Ha ha. I wish I could read that fast lol
Love this video Mel. I have several Michael Mosely books too. Will see if they sell now. Sucj a sad story!😢
Great tip to put date in the SKU to better understand sell-through rate. I'm always doing a search on the listing date on the eBay desktop version. Means I have to go back to the office from my garage.
We use our phones so much and it’s so handy. Also if you end listings and sell similar you lose the original listing data.
Hi mel love the often videos.we have terrible weather here in Greece we have forty two here in Rhodes we are frying😅😅😅
Thank you so much! Greece, wow so beautiful
Thanks for bundling ideas
Thank you for watching!
I use the sku to enter the amount of how much I paid for that particular item. I figure that way I can see what I paid for it and decide how much I want to send the offer out for. Since I end and sell similar a lot and that resets the date listed, I use a spreadsheet that will show the original date I listed the item. I don't use the sku for location like most people as I sell mainly CDs and have them listed alphabetically, so they're easy to find.
In my early days I did that also but now as I buy so many bulk lots and get so many freebies I use averages for my cost of good and postage when working out my metrics.
Another great video. I am not a reseller - just a book lover and I have a large collection of cookbooks so really enjoy these videos. I purchased a Bill Granger cookbook from your store when he died because I didn't have one in my collection so I understand how people might now seek out the Michael Mosely books.
Wow thank you for purchasing and supporting me!
It hit me so strange to see you in a taboggin & warmer clothing lol 😅 it's so hot here in Alabama,USA lol
Freezing here! It’s winter but the warehouses are just a big concrete box and extra cold! I have so many layers on lol
Awesome Mel! RIP Michael Mosley
So sad
Is "Vinnies" St. Vincent De Paul? We have those here in the US. I put my item location in the sku field I also have my eBay name in there. When I print the label I have the print on label field checked. It prints the sku field in small font on one edge of the shipping label. So you could put your identifier "swim" etc. in there and have it added to your label.
Yes! Australians like to nickname and shorten everything lol.
Certainly is. Us Aussies like to shorten or nickname everything. As a consequence the charity pretty much rebranded as Vinnies on their shops. You have to look closely to see reference to St Vincent de Paul. Oh and The Salvation Army thrift stores are known as the ‘Salvos’ 😂
I put the date in the SKU first. Then the location. Easy sort in active listings.
Such a shame about Dr Mosley. His wife writes the recipe books
Yes I realised Dr Claire Bailey was his wife once I read the news. Very sad for him and the family.
Love ya ❤❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you!
Dr Claire Bailey is the wife of Dr Michael Mosley. She writes the recipe books that he wrote the forwards on 👍
Yes I only just realised that after reading the news about him. So sad.
Oriental Secrets Excessive Postage: by chance was the high postage for getting it to an international buyer? Years back, here in the USA, eBay changed our shipping page from showing just the amount we charged for shipping, to showing the “Total Cost” to a buyer and if that amount included the additional cost for the eBay International portion of the shipping, it really raised the number shown to us. I didn’t care for the change, since that additional money doesn’t come to me, but eBay tends to do what eBay wants to, so we adapt. 😉
Mel, love your videos. If a buyer makes an offer on 4 bundles, how do you mark those sales on EBay and ship all of them together?
Free shipping?! Have you mentioned that before? That changes everything. So when you say you'll get $20 for something, you then have to take off postage, as well as fees etc? What are postage rates like in Australia? Canada Post is the shitz, soooo spendy.
My average postage cost is currently $9.38
I’m surprised you didn’t give a partial refund to the buyer for your mistake on the postage.
I’m investigating if it was a mistake or if I priced it weird as an experiment (which I sometimes do) but buyer didn’t send an offer so was happy with price.
Nice video do you send thank you notes with your orders
Sometimes. I’m currently out of stock on them but I do have cards with a coupon code on them that I use when I have them. I want to order different ones and have been procrastinating on designing something new.
I also have a full set of 21 Time Life books The Enchanted World, which I haven't listed yet because I've no idea how to post them... they weigh a kilo each and I think its best to send them as a bundle but will need multiple shipments. I'm not sure if my post business allows splitting into multiple shipments, I've never tried that. Will probably cost over $80 to post in satchels. A single box will go too close to the 22 kilo limit and would probably break anyway unless its heavy duty which will go over the limit. Such a dilemma they've been sitting in my death pile for 2 months.
Not every buyer wants the whole set and they still bring great profits by selling in smaller bundles staying under the 5kg weight limit.
@@backfromburnout these are going for $450 in bundles though! BOLOs
The mobile app tells you the start date, Right above change offer settings button when you click the listing. Only issue you run into is if you end and sell similar.
Yes any items ended and sold similar will never have the correct listing date as that will change. Using the sku is the easiest way to see it without additional clicking. It’s easy to see then picking and when sending or receiving offers.
A little jealous of your sales volume.
