With the Jag, there’s no automatic transmission to get confused around town, never getting into a hot or cold car with preconditioning, there’s insane instant torque, the smoothness and refinement is unmatched (not only because no engine noise but also because the 1000 pound battery insulates you from road noise), the use of space is excellent (small on the outside and big on the inside because no engine), low center of gravity, naturally perfect weight distribution, being able to blow by anyone in traffic anytime, never being in the wrong gear, way more efficient, never being late because I had to stop for gas, no maintenance, quicker than most v8 family cars and more efficient than i-4 family cars, etc etc. And even though on paper the panamera was faster 0-60, in real life around town it’s not even close - the Jag would be gone before the panamera would even get into the right gear. And in that category, the Jag is by far and away the best we've had.
Not having to deal with automatic transmissions and having instant torque is probably the number one reason that I'm considering an EV. I still have an older toyota SUV with a five speed transmission and that thing is more pleasant to drive around town than these new cars with 8-10 gears that can't ever decide which one it wants to be in and only giving you like 800rpm from each gear to maximize efficiency.
Missing buttons and knobs is a dealbreaker for me. I would definitely choose the Telluride for that reason alone. I don't want to take my eyes off the road to do things and voice commands are not an acceptable replacement.
Well in defence they always go to the same unreliable EV charger in their area. It’s bad, but not as bad as they make it seem. I stick to the new IVY network or Flo. Watch an intense trip in the worst part of the Canadian winter in a Fisker Ocean by Bruce MacNeil
@@therealcdnuser thanks for the reply. You provide helpful context. It seems to me that, for some reason, very few people are capable of expressing neutral, disinterested opinions on the issue of EV charging and on EVs in general. People whose other expressed opinions suggest they may harbor a general animus toward EVs seem to me to overstate their downsides, while many EV fans seem reluctant to admit everything about them isn't perfect. I guess it's just human nature. People are often irrationally (it seems to me) emotional about cars and other personal technology items.

Watch Bruce MacNeil use the Ontario charging network in -20 with the new Fisker Ocean. EV charging is not great in Ontario but it can still be done a lot easier now. When are you guys going on an EV road trip again like you did with the Ioniq’s???? That would be cool.
TSP seem to consistently find all of the broken chargers, or at least not mention any functioning ones that they come across. I used to really like this channel, but man, they do spread a certain amount of EV FUD, despite also trying to be/appear neutral. An what the hell was that BS at the end about replacing the battery? Who ever needs to do that? And how much will a new gas tank, engine and transmission for the Telluride cost‽ 🙄 The Korean record for batteries has been industry leading, for the record.
Your reviews are the best! You Both have huge kiwis for driving fast in that weather. I just bought an ev9 GT for my wife and it is fantastic. You get so much car for the money. The haptic buttons are adjustable, your tester has it set in hard push. I set mine on soft big difference. Also the climate control has a little cross in the upper right when you tap it, the climate controls expand across the whole screen. Once you learn this car, all the technology makes sense. I was also able to get a full electronics and battery extended transferable warranty from Kia for a full 100k miles and 10 years for just $2700.
Not impressed with the terms of that warranty. How many people only drive 10K miles annually? That’s more like a six year warranty maximum for the average driver.
If you guys thought that this KIA EV9 has weird buttons then look at any Tesla, which has no buttons at all. (I know, it has some on the steering wheel.) Either way, we got used cell phones without buttons (no home button or keyboards).
@@cypvh74 Then you have to take into account oil changes, brakes wearing out faster etc....the cost of driving an EV is soooo much cheaper IF you can charge at home. If you have to rely on public charging there is not a huge cost savings for driving.
Charging consumers for features that are already in the car that don't involve actually CONSUMING more of something is getting old. Wanna charge me for LTE connectivity? Fine.
Great video except - the replacement price of the battery is the price of the car? Come on guys. Obviously not. Plus, you know, the whole warranty thing.
is the fingerprint reader cool? my car has a button that i push to get my seat and stuff to my settings versus my wife's. don't see why storing a fingerprint is better
The suspension on electric cars must be hydraulic or air. Anything else and the weight of the car causes it to be quite bouncy. So much so, I traded my Model Y for a Lexus RX450h
Most people don’t drive a gas vehicle from full to empty on a single trip. Neither do ev drivers. 99% of evs charge overnight at cheaper hydro rates. The fast chargers are only used in road trips. I can count the number of times I’ve used fast chargers owning evs since 2017, on both hands. Yes there are some that don’t work but you can always find one somewhere that works. I’ve never been stranded on a road trip in my non Tesla ev. Non tesla evs can now charge at some Tesla superchargers, which are fast and always work. The number of superchargers that a non tesla ev can use is expanding across North America
Depreciation hits EVs insanely hard because battery degradation is an inevitability, regardless of how much the vehicle is used. It's not like you could garage one of these for a decade like a Corvette and still have it working in tip top shape, the battery will be significantly degraded by then.
@@RatBürgerSk8 you really don't know what you are talking about in terms of battery degradation. It really is very minimal. Also, there is no way you could garage a gas car for 10 years and have it working in tip top shape
I finally decided on the Telluride. The EV9 pitching around like a boat on a lake was making me nauseous. The Telluride has the same seat massage function in the SX-Prestige.
Telluride is a great looking SUV...loved those amber lights🥰 I'm in Florida where charging infrastructure isn't a thing yet.... but our 2 weeks of Winter are over....last snow 12/31/89.... Come on down....I'll take you guys kayaking with alligators 👍
EV9 is undoubtedly a great EV suv, but $70k for a Kia is hard to swallow. Also its range is not class competitive. Id rather have a used Rivian R1S for the same price tbh
Waiting for the EV5. It's worth 15k difference. Depends on how much you would use on gas. If it's about 400 bucks a month then yes, in about 5 years you'll pay for itself.
We've been getting all that fog down here in Ohio too it's been wild. I'm still not ready for an EV tho. The EV9 is kinda ugly imo, but I had really thought my first EV was gonna be the EV6 GT, but ended up going with an A4 Allroad Prestige. The EV6 GT was in my price range but it cuts back on a lot of dailyable features for performance, & just lacks features I want in a daily like Ventilated seats, which is weird bc like 99% of Hyundai & Kia models offer cooled seats, but also no full panoramic sunroof. The A4 Allroad didn't compromise much in very many areas, has great performance for a family ICE wagon (0-60 5s, qtr mile like 13.6 at 106mph or something) & still has all the features I want. It's a smaller wagon but much nicer & larger than my current GT Sport hatchback. Maybe after my lease is up ill start looking into EVs, but as of now I'm still not ready to jump
Ventilated seat!!! I agree haha. Been waiting years for Tesla to finally bring them to the 3/Y models, so happy to see they made it into the refreshed Model 3.
Sandy Munro teared down the Ioniq 5. the battery is structured in multiple modules, each easily to replace. easier than Teslas Model 3/Y where the batterymodules are glued to the frame. a damage doesn't require the entire battery to be replaced, only the defective ones. there is no way the battery can cause the insane amount of cost from an engineering standpoint.
EV9 dash looks way to busy, guess you would eventually get used to it but quick glances would be bothersome. I have a 2020 Telluride SX, not perfect but would still take it over the EV9 for day to day use.
There has been much written about the acceptance of EV, and with our current "winter" I would still opt for the Telluride. It has the big gas engine, drinks normal fuel, but both cars are way too expensive to consider. With the winter in the USA, and all EV's sitting on the charger in Chicago, it still proves the point of going fossil fuel and not the unacceptable high cost of an EV.
anti EV propaganda is overblown tbh. 95% of the time throughout the year, we get great to good weather. Some areas EVs works a lot better than others especially warmer climates like CA or Florida.
Spot on re EV's being not very practical yet; would not have an EV as my only family vehicle. That also really hurts the value proposition for an EV family SUV (where you want it to be a long hauler). Shame about the bad interior UX design; seems to be a trend these days, though. Also would be hesitant to buy any vehicle with subscription services; hard to tell what features you're not buying (but renting instead), and don't trust companies to not screw customers down the road. Absent that and the charging situation, though, the EV9 would be compelling.
I believe the best way to utilise an EV is to charge at home, general use case would be for example for this EV9, travel no further than 210kms so you can make it back given its range is around 445kms. Charging at public chargers are there for emergencies only. But hey, there are people who make it work with longer distances.
I decided on the Telluride. The EV9 left and right jiggly ride was making me ill. Also Telluride had more room which I was looking for. Controls on the gas model were more intuitive.

I still have an older toyota SUV with a five speed transmission and that thing is more pleasant to drive around town than these new cars with 8-10 gears that can't ever decide which one it wants to be in and only giving you like 800rpm from each gear to maximize efficiency.
the capacitive touch solution had me weak 😂
Funny that I’m working on a Telluride the day this review comes out. 🤙
Missing buttons and knobs is a dealbreaker for me. I would definitely choose the Telluride for that reason alone. I don't want to take my eyes off the road to do things and voice commands are not an acceptable replacement.
If public charging is really generally as broken in Ontario as you guys experience it then it's just not time yet for EVs there.
Well in defence they always go to the same unreliable EV charger in their area. It’s bad, but not as bad as they make it seem. I stick to the new IVY network or Flo.

It will never be time for EVs. They are just awful.

I wouldn't hate them so much if they weren't forced upon us, especially as a «green» solution- which they aren't.
Wind trim is the way to go - second row bench, 19s with more sidewall, flat black exterior trim that won’t pick up the scratches.
I recently got a VW Atlas and I got the top trim with the bench seat. Very annoying that so many had captain seats. But at least I got what I wanted.
You guys should come to Sweden and do an electric car road trip. Then you would see how easy it is.
This was such great video guys, felt informative and fluid
I really enjoyed this video Good job guys. The concept of simultaneous driving while doing the review in real time is/was amazing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hyundai and Kia really dropped the ball with easy to use and functional interiors. They used to be so easy to understand and straightforward.
I dont know about Kia's but Hyundai interiors are not difficult to understand unless you are naturally slow minded
Having to pay to get the ev9 headlights to do different patterns is the dumbest thing. Just to squeeze us a little bit more
Watch Bruce MacNeil use the Ontario charging network in -20 with the new Fisker Ocean. EV charging is not great in Ontario but it can still be done a lot easier now.
When are you guys going on an EV road trip again like you did with the Ioniq’s???? That would be cool.
Just got a EV9 and love it
The googly-eye button hack is brilliant. I hope someone from Hyundai/Kia see this.
Is it me or public charging in Ontario sucks?? Here in QC i had one experience of a charger not working.
13:39 you can't adjust your seat while driving?!? That's an immediate dealbreaker.
The seat presets
Ridiculous too.
Would love to have a factory 3rd row delete and off road trim. I want the size for cargo room, not passenger seats. Otherwise a great car.
Telluride looks fantastic
I like the yuri Kia ev9 5:20 to 5:28
If you guys thought that this KIA EV9 has weird buttons then look at any Tesla, which has no buttons at all. (I know, it has some on the steering wheel.)
Either way, we got used cell phones without buttons (no home button or keyboards).
So the similarly sized gas one is 15k less? Telluride all day.
You know that the 15k$ is your gas cost for 4-5 years. With maintenance added, its surely less than 5.
Telluride at like 20mpg would cost me ~$3,000/yr to fuel. Vs about $500/yr for the EV9. Makes up that $15k in 6 years.
When they start building it in the US, US buyers will get $7500 off, cutting that price difference down quite a bit.
@@cypvh74 Then you have to take into account oil changes, brakes wearing out faster etc....the cost of driving an EV is soooo much cheaper IF you can charge at home. If you have to rely on public charging there is not a huge cost savings for driving.
5:29 to 5:33 I like how Jacob said he like that boring sounds for me it look like he jealous of yuri electric future sounds
Charging consumers for features that are already in the car that don't involve actually CONSUMING more of something is getting old. Wanna charge me for LTE connectivity? Fine.
They should do an efficiency rating for comparing both those burnouts
All hail Super Troopers!
YESSSSSSS
@@TheStraightPipes, I like how the EV9 accelerates right meow 😸
Great video except - the replacement price of the battery is the price of the car? Come on guys. Obviously not. Plus, you know, the whole warranty thing.
Kia telluride one of the best suv I ever owned
Yuri causually throws in the super troopers quote there lol 😂
is the fingerprint reader cool? my car has a button that i push to get my seat and stuff to my settings versus my wife's. don't see why storing a fingerprint is better
hilarious that you look at each other through the side windows while talking and driving side by side. Telluride yes for me
The suspension on electric cars must be hydraulic or air. Anything else and the weight of the car causes it to be quite bouncy. So much so, I traded my Model Y for a Lexus RX450h
That googly eye trick is actually genius
You mean Shenanigans? You’re talking about Shenanigans, right?
Amazing Super Troopers reference.
That EV9 is going to depreciate like crazy! I would guess that those will be 20k in 6 years.
We sell them with huge markups lol. Customers are always upset about how upside down they are on their cars now but they keep buying anyway.
Depreciation hits EVs insanely hard because battery degradation is an inevitability, regardless of how much the vehicle is used. It's not like you could garage one of these for a decade like a Corvette and still have it working in tip top shape, the battery will be significantly degraded by then.
saving the earth from pollution is very very expensive
@@RatBürgerSk8 you really don't know what you are talking about in terms of battery degradation. It really is very minimal. Also, there is no way you could garage a gas car for 10 years and have it working in tip top shape
I finally decided on the Telluride. The EV9 pitching around like a boat on a lake was making me nauseous. The Telluride has the same seat massage function in the SX-Prestige.
Telluride still rocks. We just had enough with EV for now
EV road trip, EV road trip, EV road trip……EV Road trip, EV Road trip EV Road trip….. you can do it!!!! 🎉
Telluride is a great looking SUV...loved those amber lights🥰
I'm in Florida where charging infrastructure isn't a thing yet....
but our 2 weeks of Winter are over....last snow 12/31/89....
Come on down....I'll take you guys kayaking with alligators 👍
The Telluride reminds me of a facelifted '07 Yukon Denali.
EV9 wheels look so clean on the move
EV9 is undoubtedly a great EV suv, but $70k for a Kia is hard to swallow. Also its range is not class competitive. Id rather have a used Rivian R1S for the same price tbh
i like the fact that its a full sized electric suv that doesnt cost 100k
Waiting for the EV5. It's worth 15k difference. Depends on how much you would use on gas. If it's about 400 bucks a month then yes, in about 5 years you'll pay for itself.
Very nice video. BTW I think you should split up the sponsors more, if it's a short thing, I'll listen, but it just went on and on from.
Can’t wait to see the ioniq 7
which is better, brand new telluride or brand new pallisade? top trims
What did you say about the Android Auto on the Telluride ? is it not wireless? Even the 2024 ?
Sandy Munro teared down the Ioniq 5. the battery is structured in multiple modules, each easily to replace. easier than Teslas Model 3/Y where the batterymodules are glued to the frame. a damage doesn't require the entire battery to be replaced, only the defective ones. there is no way the battery can cause the insane amount of cost from an engineering standpoint.
Are the Hyundai/Kia remote features tied to a subscription?
No
@@jjqq2743 thanks, good to know
Not yet....don't give them any ideas....
I prefer my 2022 Telluride SX Prestige, over the front end of the 2023.
Drinks normal fuel? Weird flex...
anti EV propaganda is overblown tbh. 95% of the time throughout the year, we get great to good weather. Some areas EVs works a lot better than others especially warmer climates like CA or Florida.
Hyundai Kia are the new Toyota Honda. Hyundai Kia are light years ahead of BMW BENZ and AUDI
Love the googly eye hack.
I don't understand why US brands can't be this bold with styling. For example, the 2025 Ford Explorer. Come on...
I'm not fond of Kia but i'd say the Telluride is a better SUV
They will get access to the Supercharger network soon, and then all will be fine.
That's why would not buy a EV yet. Over priced and infustructure just not in place ....yet
probably mentioned many times already - really amazing how Jakub looks like Mate Rimac's twin brother
Equally as smart and rich
I decided on the Telluride. The EV9 left and right jiggly ride was making me ill. Also Telluride had more room which I was looking for. Controls on the gas model were more intuitive.
