I think we both read the base type change differently lol
"You will now be able to select the Base Type of the item you want to craft.
As such, we are removing some of the Crafts that allow you to influence Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence armour types, as they will no longer be necessary since you can just freely select the base type. Note that special base types will still need to be obtained through certain corpses, such as Atlas Base Types, and League Base types like Stygian Vise."
The way I read it is that normal bases that can drop anywhere can be picked, but special bases (steel and opal rings, stygian vise, crystal belt, etc.) will still require corpses
Yeah, you’re 100%
Sweet if so but I think it just means you can pick INT / STR / DEX base.
@@ZiggyDGaming nah man, otherwise the bit about atlast specific bases doens't make sense.
@@ZiggyDGaming Base Type has a specific game meaning and always refers to an individual item within an Item Class, not a group of items.
@@NZTritium Counter-argument would be that they didn't mention removing the corpse that rerolls the base 5 times and keeps the highest base, which wouldn't make sense if you could just pick Vaal Ragalia.
The fundamental issue with the league (at least for my casual ass) is that it's over-designed AF. Unavoidable mechanic, need to micro the packs or get blasted, need to manage the corpses, use calculators to see if there is a decent craft from all the junk you scooped up, etc. I just want to blast packs and have cool shit drop, maybe with a few crafting possibilities to kit out the rest of my gear. Necropolis is like a job.
To me the fundamental issue is that it's not fun. You can shower the players with rewarding items, and that may trick people into feeling like the league is good, but if you're not into crafting, it's still basically just standard league, with the occasional overlay preventing you from picking up loot. Even if it's not easier to itemize good corpses and sell them for profit, there's still nothing to do that feels good. It's just playing around with menus.
As someone who has been playing PoE very casually for years, most leagues are not casual-friendly, and this became an even bigger problem when GGG decided to incorporate all past league mechanics at once into the game.
Having said this, Necropolis is by far the biggest offender here. It does feel like a chore.
The Necropolis passives on Atlas tree seemed like an afterthought.
The league mechanic thoroughly feels like it was originally balanced with the atlas passives baked in.
The bottom left "Devoted" passives and decreased effect of haunted mods KIND OF nerf the atrociously overtuned negative haunted mods.
While the other passives increase other rewards and corpses for engaging with the league mechanic.
Without them, map progression is god-awful slow and infuriating.
For next to ZERO reward.
But that's the thing.
We never had a choice.
Upon entering maps we are instantly punished for not having the 50 passives that make the league TOLERABLE, let alone SURVIVABLE
It blows my mind that the league shipped this way.
I haven't even mentioned the UI/UX failure.
The corpse system at start was :
1/300 for a corpse craft
1/50 for a decent, usable craft
1/200 for a USABLE base
Inventory space (the morgue) for corpses is maybe 20% of what it should actually be.
I sincerely can't comprehend how GGG consistently ships leagues like this on launch.
When will they learn?
Their response speed and level is decent half of the time, but why is it needed in the first place?
There still is no "opt-out"
Please, GGG, learn from this. Please.
I don't mind GGG not releasing during a public holiday, as I never play a new league during the first week. With how complex new mechanics are each league, there is invariably a major balance patch during that first week, and I always prefer to wait for it.
I've only got to play a few days, I've been so busy but the changes are looking good. Glad GGG listens to feedback
This game is more and more casual unfriendly.... Q_____Q Sometimes you just wanna login and 1 click to watch explosions - miss those days. Miss Beta. :/
League was 100% half baked and the buff is deserved. The problems left are the extra allflame embers drops with no extra storage room, the corpse storage amount still being a bit low and the fact that corpse and embers might not be enough to compensate the downsides from the mods
I just started an RF chieftain SSF today. Got a couple of personal goals as I haven't played in a couple years. All seems good to me.
Noooo! I loved that they released on public holiday, I had allot of time to play, normally I'm to tired from work or have to wait for weekend 😭
I think they should add small simple upsides to the various downside mods. So you get some some amounts of quant or pack size for dangerous stuff like monsters penetrating or extra projectiles. Otherwise areas without devoted mods just feel like a chore for no reward.
There is also stuff like "Strongest Monster in Pack gets: Dropped Items with Rarity are converted to X", I had that with Scarabs and Maps and both time I had half my Inventory full with it at the end ^^
Kind of interesting that people felt there was no low to mid crafting appeal to necropolis considering my first big craft was just a 5L I needed to start red maps from corpses I got in yellow maps. Tri-res and good armor/es with open prefix for damage taken as craft wasn't complicated to make, but is something that will last awhile.
the thing is that 98% of the player base doesn't bother with crafting at all, so a crafting league was aways not popular
You may have also just gotten lucky. It's about 100 fuse to get a 5l on average and with corpses just giving 20 with the best outcome, that's still only a 60% chance for a 5l with 5 of those. Which is also ignoring the sockets
@@colinmetzger6755I mean they also have a corpse that just adds a link to it if I'm not mistaken which means if you have enough you can just make a guaranteed 6link
@@colinmetzger6755 The 5L was guaranteed because I had a corpse for it
@@Tibasu I'd say that was very lucky. Most people don't have those special corpses at that point I think. Also by the time you hit reds in trade league you can probably already afford to buy a 6-link, at least corrupted.
Kinda sad to see GGG not do better with so many new players trying POE out again. I'm playing SSF like always and it feels lacking on many fronts in terms of good solid progression. There is grinding and then there is GRINDING. I will probably only play few more days and then probably skip POE next league after seeing how this one ended up.
i have been having a great time. but this is going to make it even better. maybe i am just odd but i am really liking it
Big oopsie forgetting borrowed power this league. It's one factor that can save underwhelming or botched launches of the mapping/endgame mechanic.
Consider TOTA, which only provided a droppable orb for maps. For ignorers of the sidegame, the endgame WAS tattoos, i.e. enjoying exploring/advancing/minmaxing new build possibilities. Purposefully packaged with the new base atlas/endgame refreshes.
Even if tuned perfect, the endgame mechanic (mapping/killing mobs) has very low ceiling. It was definitely supposed to be base game refresh focused.. Which is fine, but also feels like every or every other league now.
Replacing one-time borrowed power just seems like a requirement now for sustainability. Build exploration always gives a reason to play the game, perhaps even its true purpose. The power fantasy always outweighs fleeting wealth fantasy.
Not even a 2mod/nerfed That Which Was Taken. Tattoos are cool, but very limited for exploration, and can only mature into commodified minmaxing. The best grave item is still a base game item, vs. additions like Crucible, influence mods, Synth implicits, etc
From my perspective, grave crafting's vision is based on Harvest, an equalizer for average players vs. .1%/mirror-crafters, in obtaining dogshow worthy item pieces. Its success was based on Synthesis, i.e. studying alchemy is core to the fun. However the grave is only different and maybe equal to base crafting in terms of cost/time/knowledge requirements.
And theres no fun or slot pull or enchancement in the process itself (e.g. recombinator, even godawful Crucible). Matured meta gravecrafting still has no process or integration into the base crafting system. No matter its perceived power, its the same Tuesday night meal in the end. The spreadsheet instructions are for a Mac and Cheese box, which i love. But it's definitely not the multi-course meal theyre capable of regular serving.
I dropped out in act 6, I cant remember the last league that forced you into interacting with the mechanic normally if I dont like league I can just ignore but this the modifiers are on every zone.
I havent really had any issues with the league so far other than crafting being bad. Bleed bow has been breezing through. But I look forward to buffs
The #1 thing they need to do is make necropolis optional. A check box on the map device. This is a bad prescedent to set having mandatory phys as mods that you would have rolled over with alterations in white maps. Now you either just eat it and skip the map, or risk dying over and over / maybe still lose the map.
Looks promising!
I’m waiting and while doing so I’m having a lot of fun in Last epoch
They also gotta fix Heist helper AI getting stuck or teleporting to the wrong side of doors and detonating the same damn chest multiple time and wasting time. Another thing annoying is currency completely blocked from picking up because you’re full of corpses and they’re behind a corpse window.
A lot of great changes, but why does the itemize corpse button have to be 2 pixels lol
It's hard to estimate how busted this will be at the top end. Since you need a lot fewer corpses to get only t1 possible drops, you have a lot of space leftover to put it in to really up the chance of a specific mod type. There's probably gonna be full t1 items that can be pretty much guaranteed this way, especially if you only need 1 or 2 mod types like phys weapons for example.
some nice changes but still a pretty pointless mechanic since nearly all my end game gear needs +X gem or skill level or +1 number of spectres which use complex and convoluted crafting methods you cant do with the graves or need delve base drops (i hate this)
harvest was far superior because you could take cheap items and modify the affixes
This is quite good. I have always been a proponent of buffs over nerfs. Twekas are always nessesary, and some nerfs are nessesary in many cases. Overall however, buffs should always outnumber nerfs by a significant number.
double so for a pve game. letting people have fun should be their highest priority
Ahh the classic start the league after 2 weeks of launch still applies as i see…
i had 4 whole vaal orbs drop from a pack this league thanks to the conversion lol.
My only disappointment is really that they didn't think of this stuff before it even released.
It is mind blowing. Like ALL their problems for a league launch can be fixed with a checklist.
They 100% did think of these before, but they didn't turn them up because it's a lot easier to buff a mechanic than nerf it
Remember, they firmly believe that they rather release something underpowered and scale it up, because you cannot take power away if you launch it too powerful. That's what happened with affliction.
They're afraid of overdoing it now this is the result.
@@netneo4038 Affliction had some of the best long-term retention in the game's modern history, I'm not sure the conclusion to draw here is that GGG is correct to err on the side of Necropolis while viewing Affliction as a mistake.
@@DaenGaming they've stated to rather err on the side of caution in multiple interviews. They've also mentioned that what happened in affliction was a mistake.
I'm not saying I think this is the correct conclusion, just that this is their conclusion
i cant wait to play the leauge, i sadly couldnt join cuz my pc is getting repaired
I’ve come to realize this isn’t really a normal game. You can’t realistically expect to do all the Ubers and craft mirror worthy gear unless you put in a crazy amount of time like these streamers are, it’s just a huge difference people don’t seem to understand. That being said the game is still enjoyable to me regardless of the time I can spend on the game varying. Gg ziggy
I just haven’t ever enjoyed crafting in PoE and this league mechanic just seemed like busy work so I haven’t even bothered starting. I hope for GGG’s sake that they save it, but I’m not at all surprised that this league was crushingly unpopular.
Ziggyd big respect to u but did u check the forum >Technical Support and see how many ppl have problems ? every video i watch no one say about this problem
yes i am crashing constantly its ridiculous
I too crash all the damn time ... just checking my inventory in town or the rogue harbor is 50-50 crash
once again, I come here to tell you, that a well placed 10 chaos can make all the difference.
I was mopey about my build, just got two items of the market and tada, can run at least tier 10 maps.
I am one of the never touch it players. This league has no interest to me, but I still hope people like you enjoy it!
This is tragic. GGG is doing this for years and they still did not learn. You could forgive them for releasing unrewarded and underwhelming league if it was their early league but this is not the case.
i like big buffs
Honestly surprised at how comprehensive these changes are. Stuff like being able to pick your base is going to get me to try using it.
fr they basically got everything lmao
My endgoal is uberlab, so game is very limited for me. Why only uberlab? Cause any build I make, will struggle to kill uber lab. If I copy someone's build, then I can aim higher than uberlab, but it wont be fun for me to copy someone's build. I imagine it's fun for people who know all the mechanics and all the uniques and all the meta.
PS: I play POE since there was only act2.
I haven't been playing POE for about a year now, the second time I've walked away... but I check in from time to time.... I understand the words you are saying but it doesn't seems to be making much sense I feel like I have dementia or something.
All my friends all quit after Sunday. No one wants to play a league with 3 websites, 2 spreadsheets and calculator plus a note pad just to play the league. Then click 80 times to put down 40 corpses then RNG for a shit rare. Harvest for casual is already complex enough.
You didn't just refer to yourself and your friends and casual did you? Mechanic crafting like 1-2 days into a new league? You realize you've played more since release than 99% of people will play in 2-4weeks right? You're in the 1%
with the way the average person plays games i think avoiding releasing leagues on public holidays is a mistake. Sure it benefits the streamers and the company, but personally i always look forward to holidays when i finally have a chance to play videogames.
Personally I have a family, and thus always feel a bit iffy about playing a league where the true nolifers get a couple days head start on the rest of us who are not yet disowned by our relatives.
Given the general "disappointment" of this league is a natural thing since last league we experienced biggest power spike in PoE history with secondary ascendancies. The crafting could have been better from the start though.
Hurrah
Been at the end of act 9 for 2 days, can't bring myself to actually play the game.
Looking to the actual Necropolis launch as I am getting tired of Necrapolis.
Not a lot of bugs Ziggy says, little does he know that the bone armor rework leech is bugged and is giving .1 of .1 of 1% of your minion damage as opposed to .1 of 1% lol.
Kind of concerning they made the itemizing cost 1 chaos to begin with...
I have a feeling this is gonna be a 2 month league
Found an allflame that caused the pack to drop Omens and "May leave a special corpse"....Got oneshot 3 times on a map with 0 dmg mods through 70% Chaos res from them and even with a full clear, got 1 omen....."worth it"? Crafted a Minion wand with 55 Corpses, consisting ONLY out of Prefix buffs, Gem Bufs, crit buffs, Minion Buff (SINGULAR because in 300-400 corpses, I found ONE) and like 2000% "scarse" for Phys/ele....got not 1 T1 mod and no +1 so the crafting is dead to me
Necrapolypse
while the mechanic so far has not been that exciting. i really liked the overall quality of life changes during the campaign. and i love the removal of sextants :D i just pretend the league is not here.. they should add the ability to not see graves.. the popups are annoying and block you from looting.
I'm probaby in the minority, and also this is my 1st time playing in 4/5 months since I kinda burned out on the game, but I really like this league. I don't care much for the graveyard, but I really like the embers, and it's a mechanic that doesn't interupt the gameplay !
I mean then you like the base game, embers aren't part of this league mechanic. You haven't said anything that you like about the league mechanic.
You need more than the base game being in a good state to get people to come play the.... league.
@@WelcomeBackMeHere What do mean embers ain't part of the league ?
@@ChaoticPesme75 Oh, you're not talking about the eldritch ember currencies. I think that's what most people would associate with that word, rather than the allflame things. But yeah my bad
post-week1 is always the REAL league launch, not the economy tho
damn you know it's bad when a ziggyd video title sounds like a reddit post
Crafting in general is just way too complicated 😢
to me crafting in this game never really made sense, it always felt overcomplicated and not worth investing time in it :/ so i completely ignored it, this new one doesnt seem any different
Seems like to e past 6 leagues you get this same video after about a week talking about how bad the league is.
Seems like they always release the league a little over tuned.
Which to be clear is the correct way to release things. Better to buff than nerf. Plus we have to remember only a handful of people are even assigned to PoE at this point. They probably need to add another person or two if this league's UI/UX is any indication, but compare this to Blizzard's best attempts to throw literal hundreds of people at Diablo and suddenly it's a lot easier to give GGG a break. Glad they're making changes so quickly!
Tell me you havent played the last 6 leagues without telling me you havent played the last 6 leagues lol
I'm all for it. It's more content for me to consume to escape the void of existence
As it happens the league just before is the best of all time to many or at least a contender. Not the best timing on OP‘s comment 🙃
I think you are still missing the mark there Ziggy. A normal player (me very much included) does not have time to figure out how to craft high end gear because of how difficult it is. We rely on currency drops and basic trades to get our gear. This being a craft heavy league we need something to keep us here. High end crafting kind of goes hand in hand with end game content. Most of us will never kill or even get to the ubers. Look at the percent of people that have killed uber's, it is below 5%. So a craft heavy league and no normal player content = why normal people left, including myself.
That's why I'm happy they are buffing the devotions and allflames!
Bring it on, corpses falling from the sky
i hope they will make the lantern 🏮 optional, i don't like it.
I've been having fun with just the scarab changes alone. But yeah the league mechanic is terrible this league.
whats fun of getting gatekeeped by ggg with the patch? Now u have 500000 diffrent scarabs and can only run one mechanic cuz they took away 4 slots of sextants and gave u alot of useless scarabs and huge atlas nerfes. Running Endgame now feels like goin on T13 last Leagues without any kind of juice. The only good reason: Divination farm and June. The rest is pretty dead. Running Exped? Have fun u need all map slots for a good experience and cannot run other content too cuz of limitation. They nerfed they whole game with this game its disgusting.
that is plain stupid, even when i was starting poe years ago when I was a total noob I was not dying in white maps ever... now after 5 years of experience I cant start tier 2 maps...
You made a pun and didn't say intended or not....that's against the rules!
It's all good for softcore but for HC they don't seem to care. Even tho HC players actuality want to play the game. At least with Affliction you had the choice to skip the dusty basement.
I have 2 words for people complaining about it’s too hard or too much modifiers: SKILL ISSUE
Can you seriously still not bypass the mechanic though?
They said they are looking at what other changes they can make. I hope this is part of that. Fingers crossed!
The gameplay is just clicking menus and submenus and submenus for submenus...
Can't wait for POE 2.
There's no reason to think they won't have leagues like this in PoE 2 as well
Poe the game when the beta testing starts ar league start. Nothing new, thats why i stopped playing a long time ago.
As mathial said in his video, I think a big reason why this League mechanic feels so underwhelming is because they added modifications to the Atlas passive tree. Think about it, this is the first time they've ever done that which means that they deliberately broke off parts of the system to reward players you wanted to specialize into the mechanic. I'm fully specced into nicropolis and it definitely feels much more rewarding than people seem to be letting on. I've been able to craft some pretty insane stuff even without filling my entire graveyard.
This league cant be saved...its the contrast to Affliction thats killing it imho. And that will only go away with time...c u next league!
Were none of the big streamers and content creators that were doing the interviews with GGG and pimping out this league a few weeks ago not actually given beta access to the league? If you/they were then how were these issues not raised and pointed out to GGG before launch given how quickly everyone is now saying how it sucks?
They don't get that kind of access, no.
Beta access disqualifies you from the "first to x" races so most streamers refuse to join the betas.
Most streamers don't alpha test, no
It's really fucking sad that GGG has had so many truly bad league launches and they still fall into the same traps over and over and over, but at least they've gotten better about acting on it faster. Remember when Kalandra league took multiple weeks to be even remotely decent?
I really really hope they do not make the league mechanic optional. It's the entire point of even playing. The reason why this is such a great league, if not the best, is that lantern. Even if you don't consider Necropolis crafting itself. Regardless of types of buffs on the lantern, the point is that it improves the threat scale of the game as a whole. Something this game desperately needed. Users are looking for a real arpg. They install PoE, great design, but everything is so watered down, it's not even a game. So they uninstall. This is an actual improvement on enemies to make the game more enjoyable/appealing.
Still enjoting the league but any buff is always welcome. This fire tornado build looks fuin tho.
Imagine maps with tons of mods plus with this mechanic 😂 goodbye poe.
I'll Just play last epoch and undecember
GGG dev team still far above and beyond many other companies and dev teams *ahem money grabbing blizzard* diablo 2 was last decent game they made
I dunno, man. I've been having a blast with it so far. I don't really get the hate.
Quit for a few weeks at least, this is the letdown league. If GGG fixes their game I might be tempted to come back, but probably not. You get 1 chance, lots of other great games to spend my $ on right now.
Puts Blizzard to absolute shame.
That Tornado builds looks awesome too!
Feels like I play a different game each patch. I click SSF, I completely avoid any news about PoE and always have fun.
Yeah thats called casual gaming, some people have fun going hard. To each their own. The important part is having fun.
Don't strawman my statement lol, have some decency @@joelhodoborgas
That's a strawman, don't do that.@@joelhodoborgas
Not even close to being saved.
Still not optional, still not interested
All they still need to do is to make it optional.
Exactly! It's not even about how good or bad the league is. Most of the player who stick to end game always skip the entire league mechanic and start figure out how it work in maps. The reward is irrelevant because every single league mechanic is going to punch you first before rewarding you. The 10 acts are already long and dread. Nobody wants to fight a buffed mob when they are still piecing out resistance.
It's re dead now. Have to play 72 hours straight to play this league from launch otherwise u were left in the dust from exploit abuse spammers. Gg, done
I don't get all that crying about this league.
The Scarabs, T17 Maps and Atlas Loadouts are awesome enough to carry this league for me.
And a crafting league, you either knew the second they announced it that your not going to enjoy it or that you love it.
League already dead…
I already quit. Not worth it.
very strange to me that people leave early when you can just ignore the league until the inevitable patch that makes it worth doing. This is nothing new. The changes to atlas trees and the raining of scarabs lets me play whatever i want so ironically i'm playing longer and still having more fun than i have in 3-4 leagues.
The issue is you cant "just ignore the league" like you said, if you open a new map the monsters will get the rippy modifiers whether you like it or not. It's not like in Affliction for example (or any other league for that matter) where you could just not enter the wildwood if you feel you were not ready for it yet.
How do you ignore a league that is forced every zone?
@@accardijunior i'm not in red maps yet and letting the map place the mods automatically has not had a noticeable effect on one map yet at around t10. Maybe the mods you refer to happen later.
@@chryomadzz4360 Plenty of people have died to the mods even during the campaign. Things like +4 projectiles or mobs automatically stun can absolutely kill you anytime, whether it's in the campaign or any tier maps.
@@nr1771 sounds like a classic get good situation i'm afraid. didn't click the button once in campaign. Let's not get off topic here though. people are quitting early because the crafting mechanic is aids mixed with shite. there's no borrowed league power which is what normies enjoy and makes them play longer.
No amount of buff to the league can make up for how much they’ve gutted the core game this league.
gutted? the core game is what is keeping me playing, all the changes was amazing
LMAO what are you talking about
wdym? they upgraded the core game, just the 3 atlas trees is enough for me
The problem is not the league its the patch itself with gatekeeping 99 percent of players from alot of content without any reason, nerfing atlas and strategies without any reasons and ruining all possibilities and playstyle-combinations. This whole patch was a big mess.
Including atlas passives for the current league is a massive misstep. It forces them to gimp the base mechanic. The base can only be so powerful or else the investment would make it too OP. They usually slightly nerf it and add investment options before something goes core. The only thing having passives immediately available really changes is you lose some atlas passives to get the actual intended experience or save the points and deal with Necropolis being underwhelming. It's another nerf disguised as having more options.
GARBAGE GO FROM LAST LEAGUE TO THIS WHAT GARBAGE.
