I actually bought them today,They’re very good looking and very warm in there but you can also stay with them In a warm place ,they won t “burn” Your feet! Love them
I actually bought these shoes on sale back in 2018 and they turned out to be the best shoe I've ever owned. I got the Seal Brown Dark Earth color, now if only it was easier to find them in stock to buy more
@@thehouse While I can't find these very easily, I can customize the SK8-HI MTE 2.0 DX fairly similar by using the water repellent demitasse and dachshund. Which do you think is a better idea, searching for a new/lightly used pair of these or ordering a pair of the 2.0 DX?
I only had normal Old Skool Vans in low and high, always in black or red. Now I ordered the SK8-Hi MTE-1 in the color „wheat“ yesterday. They only sell them for man online but I think women can also wear them ..
@@thehouse oh okay, in Germany womens size 40 is the same as mens size 40. So I ordered them in size 40, like my other vans. Hope they’ll fit. They’ll arrive tomorrow. I am hyped!
Great shoe, really put then to the test walking in Quebec, So far so good 👍 (note: wear heavier socks if you do not have the warmer lining) mainly in extreme cold areas
I love the shoe, I just bought a pair yesterday. I usually am a 9.5 so I got them in that size, but I also tried on the 9s and they fit pretty well because the toe area is a little more roomy than a regular sneaker. Do these shoes break in a lot and become a bit more roomy? If so lmk, I’m debating whether I should size down or not before I wear them in the snow.
They will break in a bit for sure. Remember too if you are in the snow you'll probably be wearing a little thicker socks. Just another thing to maybe take into account. Enjoy!!!
Is the sole glued to the rest of the shoe or is it stitched? And are there any problems of detaching after heavy wearing like for a long period of time? I had that problem on my previous shoes (camel active) after wearing them for a year (autumn/winter), I expect these Vans to last a lot longer. I won‘t put them under extreme conditions, just the winter in Germany.
I have 3 pairs of Vans and I love them plus my mom likes Vans too! I saw theses on Instagram and loved them I showed them to my mom and once she found out they were for winter she was really excited 😂So she wants to get me some she is in love with these shoes
I would go with the SK8-Hi Pro for skating. This is basically a skateboard style but it is built to keep your feet dry and warm in the colder temps. It also has a thicker, grippier sole so you would have less board feel.
I'm going to NYC for the holidays and I am in need of some great walking shoes that can keep me warm and dry. So my question is will these handle snow & icy pavement well?
Yep. Some people tend to go up a half size if they're using the Sk8-Hi MTE as a mountain commuting shoe. Riding socks tend to be a little thicker than traditional socks.
The Sk8-Hi MTE, isn't very light weight. The additional rubber tread adds weight making it heavier than the regular SK8-Hi. You should check out the Adidas Terrex line... www.the-house.com/hiking-shoes.html?nocache=1&refine.pagenumber=1&refine.vendor=Adidas or even Salomon trail runhing shoes: www.the-house.com/hiking-shoes.html?nocache=1&refine.pagenumber=1&refine.vendor=Salomon
The Sk8-Hi MTE's have a good amount of insulation and a nice heat retention layer but they shouldn't be worn in negative degree temps for much longer than an hour.
I only wear MTEs, all day every day. But one thing i would like to say to new purchasers, DONT GET THE SUEDE. Every suede pair i have bought end up bleeding ink everywhere when they get wet, which is asinine considering theyre supposed to be waterproof

Nice!
The House Outdoor Gear thanks for the heart !😁
That white outsole is so good and easy to clean. I like it
So fresh and so clean!

That was a rad colorway! Definitely hard to find because they change up the colorways 2-3 times a year to keep things fresh.

Personally I always like the newer stuff. Vans is always making thing better and freshening up the coloways.
Definetly will cop these this year
Do it!

Yeah, most of the Vans are unisex. Just go up 1 1/2 sizes for the women’s. I.e. mens 8 = womens 9.5

Are you Canadian? If so I instantly love this channel...but really I’m wondering if this would be good for camping?
We're close! Based out of St. Paul, Minnesota. These shoes would be good for some pretty casual camping. Not super recommended for hiking.
I bought me a pair Monday I love the shoe they're very comfortable
Gotta love the classics, stoked you're stoked!

They are glued- they should be fine under moderate conditions.
I live in Chicago and im about to buy these ... how are they with thicker socks like thermal socks the thick ones?
They fit just like the regular versions. They are just lined a bit so you don't have to go to crazy thick with the socks.
In terms of sizing are these the same as regular sk8 hi vans
Yep.
do you know compaierd to jordan mids?
I can't find the black with the white soles anywhere though man
Its a popular shoe! There's always new colors coming out every year.

Right on! Thanks for sharing!
would you say the padding inside is like soft or is it the same as the normall ones?
There's slim extra layer of insulation/ padding in addition to the padded ankle collar.
Nice review, cheers
Thank you! Cheers!
What does MTE stand for
Mountain Edition.
boyd sheets I thought it was mother tickling eagles
are these ok to wear year round or strictly a winter shoe?
They are definitely a winter shoe. If you wear them in the summer your feet will be very sweaty I'm sure.
Are they comfy bcs the old skool in 8 hour make my feet hurt so much
Pretty comfortable!
Are this okay for skateboarding?

Great Review!
Thanks for watching!
Are these good for work in hot areas?
should be!
Can you wear these in summer?
Yes!
What exact color way is this?
Black/Black/White
Hi. Are they all waterproof, even from this different material on sides and under laces ?
Yep! The MTE editions have gusseted tongues to keep water out!
They're water resistant..... Don't walk in a river and expect to have your feet stay dry.
I'm going to NYC for the holidays and I am in need of some great walking shoes that can keep me warm and dry. So my question is will these handle snow & icy pavement well?
I was looking at the ultrarange hi mte.
Fore sure!
The Ultrarange Hi MTE would be perfect!
Thanks for the reply and I will give them a shot. I'll update you after my trip!
FLucero87 I’m going to New York for the same reason and I bought a pair for the too if you made it back or are there how are they?
if i were to wear fleece socks with these should i go up half a size?
That would be a good idea.
Are these the same size as the regular sk8 hi shoe?
Yep. Some people tend to go up a half size if they're using the Sk8-Hi MTE as a mountain commuting shoe. Riding socks tend to be a little thicker than traditional socks.
Going to winterpark colorado. Would anyone recomend these?
For sure, they are the comfort of a skate shoes but the warmth and water resistancy of a boot.
Are they high off the ground? Or they're flat like the reg vans?
The soles a re touch thicker than a normal Sk8-Hi, and they still have a zero drop - they're a flat sole.
would they be good for parkour/freerunning because I train in the winter
Maybe? They have great tread, a flexible sole, and provide great insulation. What makes a parkour/ freerunning shoe good?
@@thehouse grip, lightweight and I prefer more cushion then hard midsole

@@thehouse thnks, there is something in this that make me wanna buy em
Are they for men too?
These are the mens version.

SMOKE all vans are unisex
Good for snow??
Low levels of snow.

thanks for the info
They all do, doesnt matter if its MTE or not, my sock always end up black lol
I wanna see the shoes, not your face
Zoom in.
Will this work for Canadian winters January winters
Yes, keep in mind they are water resistant, not water proof. They are very nice and warm though, highly recommend!
