I’m 31 and dress the same way. I go through security in shorts and a T-shirt with socks and open toe shoes lol. Not trying to impress anyone at the airport. Definitely not wearing boots. I’m out of town for work 230-240 days out of the year. Definitely want to be comfortable while traveling.
Plus, I’m not really in a line of work that requires me to dress nice. I just hunker down and try to buy as much real estate as possible so I’m not doing this until I’m 60.
I just wanted to watch this video because there is something sexy about being stylish. Maybe some day when I’m semi retired and in a different line of work I will want to up my game. Not right now though. Living below my means involves not splurging on really nice clothing.

Okay so hear me out. When you’re in college, it’s fine to dress more “street” style or just comfy trendy clothes. Dressing nice only gets you so far, it’s really your attitude and how you treat others that’s important. You can look like $1 million but if you are antisocial and not putting yourself out there, people aren’t just gonna come up to you.

Don't follow trends, it's a marketting ploy. Buy good casual or dress cloth that fits you well and then slowly add different pieces to your wardrobe over time. Find your personal style as style is personal to us all. Your not going to have all the various versatility in style wear right out the door. But constantly throughout the year and going forward add different elements of clothing thats everlasting and works long term. Over time you will build up having the different functional pieces that gives you so much versatility in what or how to wear whats in your wardrobe you will be dying from choice overload in what to wear and how to wear it. Your just not going to have it day one in dressing like an adult. It takes time.

    • @ardentdfender4116
      @ardentdfender4116 2 года назад

@@michael7324 Great stuff! Just find a system of improving and upgrading that works for you and your situation. For me personally I went about it by first finding a style and material of trousers I liked and bought several trousers and in the varying standard colors like Black, Charcoal, Tan, Blue/Navy Grey, Olive etc. In time I also got different shades of those colors but still in relative same fabric. Mine of choice was light wool. Medium or heavier wool works for me fine in Winter as I’m in Pennsylvania, so it’s milder weather and cold winter. Over time and way since then I’ve acquired Cotton and Linen trousers over time for variety in my west. However, going back to starting with trousers as I did the logic for me was simple in that if I had a good variety of dress trousers and in a few colors I can mix and match an shirt styled of any kind with any my trousers. From there I just built and improved my wardrobe going forward. Just bought Good dress shirts I can wear to the office. Add a few more pants and more shirts. Then added a 1-2 Navy Color Blazer to up the style. In between all that I improved wearing good leather shoes mostly of a medium to darker brown leather. One good leather Black Oxford was enough at start. Along with all that is properly maintaining and taking care of your cloth and shoes which is a must do. You invest in good clothing, make good sense to properly care and maintain them. In time I just added 1-2 things here and there and overtime you have more variety. As well, properly tailor your cloth. Everything takes time, but your investing in yourself the entire way. People will notice you when you up your style.

Legit advice. I remember when I use to do all that dress coordination in my younger years. Funny enough, I've devolved into dressing up like a kid (joggers, sandals, shorts, t-shirt, graphic polo shirts). I devolved because I'm a tech professional, and to thrive in that environment you dress down for comfort. It helps in fitting in and bonding with your fellow techies. When I compare, I honestly enjoy dressing up as a kid. I just wear it in such a way that it contours my body just right. When I dressed up on a regular, it was a confidence builder, made me feel important, and I got noticed more, but I did it for other ppl. I got to a stage in life where I've advanced in my career and it's not a career dependent upon how ppl perceived the way I look and dress. As such, it is very liberating not having to dress for other ppl and look a certain classic, gentlemanly way. If you have to look good as part of your profession to make a living, definitely stick to this form of casual. In the end, I've notice that you dress for those who need to see you look good, and dress for yourself when you've become successful enough to rock your own style and not care what others think. Money and prosperity allows a lot of freedom, including the way you prefer to dress and ppl having to accept that. When ppl talk to you, they will quickly realize if you have the mentality of a boy or the mind of a man.

I'm speaking from the perspective of a young guy who graduated college and has been working in a larger firm for almost a year (I'm 24). My job requires me to be in the office some days and be present on field job sites other days. My job has forced me to upgrade/change my style. I do consulting work so first impressions are especially key.
In college, I only had one complete suit for job fairs and the occasional formal event for a club/fraternity, a couple pairs of khakis, and a couple oxford shirts, nothing fancy. Since I spend most of my time in the office, this has made me invest more in chinos, wool, and pleated pants; I rarely wear jeans anymore unless it's Friday or I'm doing something casual outside work. I phased out a lot of my hoodies and "loud" tops/jackets for sweaters, quarter-zips, and nicer oxford shirts. I only have a couple pairs of sneakers now that are exclusively for casual wear, all my other shoes are oxford shoes, a mix of dress-work shoes, or boots that I can wear in cold weather and to job sites. Now I have 3 suits with matching neutral tones so I can mix them throughout the weeks. It's fascinating how a job can affect your personal style options!

Some what similar in terms of fancy dressing, but casual dressing they're pretty different and it's okay.
Just look around you and see what seems to be popular and looks great with other people.
I have a pretty athletic slim body type, but my go to is black jeans, casual grey sweater or hoodie sweater + denim jacket. (During the winter at least), converses or Nike street shoes..pretty casual but also really nice looking too

As a teenager I dressed in my dad's clothes quite often. My dad was on the road working during the week and I was experimenting with dressing more like an adult. I wore sports coats with button-downs and jeans. That was a go-to look for me. I worked from the time I was 8 y/o to pay for the clothes that I wanted to wear, rather than what my parents bought for school clothes. The result was that a lot of my clothes were used up because I worked in them. My dad's clothes were in far better shape. The exception was my jeans, I made certain that I had jeans for school. I kept up my look of wearing sports coats with jeans, right up until I joined the military. The girls I dated liked that look, so I kept wearing it. Once I had completed basic training, I tended to wear my uniforms, until I was recruited for a different government agency. I discovered that they were in serious need to fill the position that I filled. Enough of a need that they refused to wait until my time was up in my military outfit. After that, I went back to having my casual outfits be my sports jackets and jeans. The only directness was I could afire much nicer sports jackets. Oh, and I had long before stopped borrowing my dad's sports jackets.

Dressing like a man means to take care of your image and go according to your age and lifestyle.
Buying a nice pair of shoes/boots that you really falled in love with, having less clothes of better quality, having a "uniform" or signature outfit/style, taking care of your hair and beard...
I am almost 28, about 3 years ago I realized how bad I looked. I used any pair of jeans I had, I would wear old shoes that looked awfull, some round necks that screamed highschool, left my beard unattended, my hair would grow for months before a haircut...
I went back to how I've always felt like a million bucks. I love being a rockstar with boots, leather jacket and black jeans and I also love how I feel when I use a nice full suit.
So I bought some dress shirts (black and white mainly) ditched the cheap jeans with holes and bought a couple of new levis that fit me just fine, got a nice looking leather jacket (not the trash PU leather, real leather) and started buying nice shoes.
My wardrobe started to get smaller and smaller, that made everything easyer. And I now have my dressy clothes, my daily clothes and my extras for doing excercise or other things.
Now, my problem is that most of my clothes are more expensive and I have to wait longer to buy more stuff.
Also got into watches. I'm low in budget, so I mostly take a look at citizen... but maybe sometime soon I will be able to buy nicer watches like longines, Rado, Mido, Tudor, etc.
BTW once you go this route, You won't understand other people that don't spend in the best they can afford and decide to go the cheap way.

Only way to balance that is wear something that shows your age. Don't wear a modern video game/anime shirt because that is what the kids are wearing. There are some guys that can pull off a NES or ALTTP shirt and still look cool. As only someone who is over 30 will know about your Sega Genesis shirt. However, I think it is more important to have a good physique (gym goer) and not look like the typical overweight or skinny-fat nerd.
I've seen old guys wear an Atari or Van Halen shirt. If your 10 year old Son/Nephew/Cousin is wearing it...maybe you shouldn't.

They always catch my eye when a guy wears one-doesn’t happen very often, either. If you’re a really casual dresser, add these to your wardrobe! You’ll probably get more noticed by the ladies (for your style), even on your casual days…almost 💯 guaranteed!
Whenever I pick out garments or accessories for guys, they always come back & tell me how many compliments they received! It was a BIG deal for them, because these weren’t the type of men who ever got noticed.

@@ic5319 I don’t know what she likes, but I’m very casual myself, and am fine w/ guys not dressing up. I love good design, and henleys have all the elements. The cut, shoulder line, button placement, type & weight of knit material-it all looks good to me. It makes an average-looking guy cuter, because it shows (to me) that he’s got great taste! 👍
There’s a certain sweater-I don’t know what it’s called-but it looks like something that a guy who likes henleys would wear. It’s popular in the UK & Europe. It’s like a light cable knit, and has a couple buttons up top, then I think an asymmetrical collar? Not sure if I’m remembering it correctly, but it’s something Foy Vance would wear in the winter.

All in all best way to find a style is testing out many different styles. Hell mix up styles. Find what works for you. What makes you feel powerful. Not only that but what states “this is me and I am ready for the world”. Mine is a mix of bold vibrant colors on the inside, like my shirt and shoes, and professional boldly elegant dark tone dress jackets. Hoodies is also big for me.. so my style almost always stems from my hoodies.

There is a time and place for all style. If you're going to wear a sweat outfit it needs to be clean and nice with fresh kicks. Apply the same to your dress clothes. I play gigs in polo from head to toe with some florsheim kicks then afterwards switch into some nice jordan casual attire. After I mop up all my sweat and freshen up. People seeing you go from one attire to the next is often a conversation starter. I've made friends and business connects stemming from style talk.
