After threatening us with a few more sequels and prequels, the masterminds behind the story of Hardin & Tessa have finally decided to put an end to the franchise with After Everything. Nobody could be more thrilled to be wrapping this shit up than Jon Cozart, who is back (of his own accord, I swear) for one last ride.
Plot (via Wiki):
Hardin is still pining for Tessa, a year after she broke up with him upon discovering his manuscript for 'After', their love story. His publisher Katherine urges him to produce a follow-up to the best-seller before year's end.
Forcing him to go clubbing with her and her friend, Hardin cannot enjoy himself as he has continual flashbacks of Tessa. Katherine and her friend get Hardin to take them to his place but he's not enjoying himself, drinking until he passes out.
Over a lunch with his mother and birth father the next day, Hardin is reprimanded for drinking again, wallowing and not trying to move on. Explaining that Tessa was his whole reason for being and his muse, he has writer's block. Hardin's mum suggests he makes peace with the past, then mentions Natalie, from his youth is now living in Lisbon.
Hardin flies down to make amends with Natalie, going to the bridal shop where she works. She ushers him out, but meets with him later. Hardin has a flashback to when they'd met. To recover an expensive watch in a poker game, he accepted a bet to seduce her and record it.
Natalie moved to Lisbon to escape the backlash from Hardin's friend making the video go viral. She's also lost her means to go to college, so decided to make a fresh start. After they've caught up, Natalie invites Hardin to meet her and her friends on the beach. There Sebastian, a guy wary of him, talks him into cliff diving.
Sailing the next day with Natalie, telling her about when Tessa broke up with him, Hardin is made to realise both situations were similar. Both had their private lives made public with no warning. Back on the beach, Sebastian and his friends beat Hardin up for making advances toward another one of his friends, who gets locked up in jail.
Hardin's birth father comes down and bails him out. He gives him a motivating pep talk, making him see that he can both hold a place in his heart for Tessa, but slowly work on moving forward. As Hardin is cleaning his space, he sees Landon's wedding invite, asking him to be his best man. He decides to stay a while longer, to try to write.
Natalie comes by with a care package for Hardin, apologizing for Sebastian's behavior. She almost kisses him, but he reminds her he's still in love with Tessa. He thanks her for being able to forgive him. Hardin, feeling inspired, starts writing again. Finishing the manuscript entitled 'Before', he gives a copy to Natalie, asking for her OK before submitting as she's included in it. She's happy with it, Hardin surprises her with the coastal house of her dreams.
Back in America, Nora is with Tessa, nervously hoping the ceremony proceeds without a hitch. As best man and maid of honor, Hardin and Tessa walk down the aisle together, the first time they've seen each other in over two years. At the reception, he bribes his little half-brother to ask her to dance, so he can cut in.
Hardin's best man speech about missing half of his soul resonates with Tessa. He follows her out, they apologise to one another, then come together. Tessa calls them a mess, which he disagrees with. They decide they are inevitable. Hardin, in a moment of clarity, gets down on one knee and proposes.
Flash forward, Hardin arrives home with his book 'Later' under his arm. He greets his little girl, then a visibly pregnant Tessa.

I feel like it’s a cardinal sin to even have this script say “Harry Styles will play you”, that feels like a bridge too far, yes even with every other awful choice in this script

The delivery of the line "she's so naive I don't know how she's alive" was perfection
I hope people take this movies and books as inspiration, there are apparently no bad ideas just people that do not have faith in themselves. So go write that book, go audition for that role, go film that movie, go buy that instrument, Because if this series was possible, anything is.
The real moral of the story is that as long as you pander to the thirsty teenage girls demographic; you’ll make some money at least.

Well this series clearly didn't have any (human) writers so I don't think the writers' strike would have been much of an inconvenience

It’s been a while since I read it, but if I recall correctly in the Wattpad fanfic the story ends when they meet up for the first time in years at the wedding, they bang in the bathroom, and then go their separate ways forever. That’s it. Lmfao 😂

@futuristicgirl14 completely agree! I know they were playing on some "love conquers all" trope, but their relationship was so toxic. It makes more sense to me if they were to separate and take what they've learned from this relationship to apply it to future relationships.
Pretty sure at the end of the book series that Tessa and Hardin stay together and do go on to have two kids 💀💀💀

OMG this movie! I am a "fan" of the whole series, and seen this in the week's premiere on a girls' night, 3 After movies were playing back to back. The whole teater was full, and even before the movie I could kind of "feel" the crowd (a whole group behind me was making fun of it even before it started). During, before the girl came on the screen, the joke was "what if he just did that shit to every girl he met" AND THEN IT CAME TRUE??
Me and my friends literally sank down in chairs to a laying position on the wedding sequence, just for me to, no joke, involuntarily exclaim a loud "OH NO" when he proposed - echoed by my friend to the left. Then the ending was shown, someone behind me commented "of fucking course she got pregnant anyway...", and the whole place started laughing hysterically at the "Tess in a wig".
Great experience, would love another After marathon. 10/10.

I was afraid to make much noise at the start because I'm not an ass and also thought there would be fans there but by the 3rd movie, we were all kind of "over" that lmao. I'm polish though and from what I've noticed, girlies over here have a "culture" of ironically loving really terrible romance fiction. The only thing I am unsure about is if it was an official "girls night out" as an advertised thing, or if I kind of "made that up" because it was for me. 😆
oh, another fun fact about it - there were 2 breaks between the movies, and you were allowed to leave the theater (they would check your ticked upon coming back). So during them, I shit you not, there were DROVES of people draining vodka straight out of the bottles right outside of the entrance. Naturally, me and my friends followed the example but damn, it wore off way too soon lol.

I genuinely cannot understand how anybody would think Hardin is a person to swoon over, let alone thinking writing it like that was a good idea. Sure he’s handsome, but he’s done REALLY abhorrent things: He basically ruined Tess’ original relationship by cheating with her, he wrote an entire book AND got it published without her knowing until it was too late, and to top it off, he’s basically a fucking sex offender! Eric is totally right, Hardin should be in jail or at the very least have been sued out the ass by that one girl, but the fact that she was so forgiving over something so traumatic is beyond stupid!
Sorry, but getting drunk and saying how sorry you are doesn’t change the fact that he’s still a terrible human being. That one dude was totally justified in beating him up and tbh, he deserved worse for allowing that video to be posted…and yet Hardin gets a damn pass and not only that, he ends up with Tess anyways and has children. This man should NOT be allowed to procreate if these are his traits…
Goes to show stans truly have no concept of what makes a meaningful relationship. Everything in this series is just filled to the brim with toxicity.

@@how.9411 I read the books are actually somewhat better, but even then, it was written with Harry Styles in mind for Hardin, so I can’t imagine they’re THAT much better. Some people read them just to laugh at them and scream at Tess & Hardin, so I could at least understand that angle.
Still, that revelation of what Hardin did to that one girl just sits very wrong with me.
