I read a TON of Wattpad fanfiction back in the day and all the love interests were like this, "bad boys" had a chokehold on Wattpad writers and a ton of Wattpad users (especially those who read NSFW) were children, it wasn't uncommon to see people bragging about reading NSFW at 13 or younger. So they were all written as abusive assholes (also most writers ignored "cannon" personality of who they were writing, most picked Harry bc he was hot and popular among preteens, who were usually writing the fic*) bc a lot of users weren't really old enough to recognize abuse and thought bad boys were just like that, so him being abusive isn't that weird knowing the context of Wattpad writing tropes,
speaking of which there are a ton in this movie like the love interest's freind making a bet for the Love interest to get the MC to fall in love with love interest only for love interest to fall in love with MC was so common
(some other tropes are, MC's highschool bully but only he can bully her, werewolf alpha destined to mate MC, MC's parents sell her to love interest (most of the time it was 1D), vampires, MC is married to billionaire CEO so he can inherit the company, everyone wants to date MC except the mean girl (she was always a girly girl who like makeup and pink and was definitely a product of internalized misogyny) and more)
This movie is excellent at capturing the feeling of a Wattpad fanfiction all it needs is more stuttering and the comments absolutely tearing it to shreds (Which were always the best part, they were so funny) and it ends on a cliffhanger? That's so Wattpad
This is the most Wattpad movie I've seen, truly deserving to be the first Wattpad studios movie
