Miles & I have been eagerly anticipating season 4 of Stranger Things, but we must admit our jaws dropped when we saw the episode runtimes. I'm sorry, the finale is two and a half hours?! What exactly are the Duff's smoking out there in the upside down??? All of our favorite characters are back, as well as Noah Schnapp, so hopefully these long ass episodes are worth it...

Last season, Will’s entire character was that he wanted to play D&D and his friends thought he was a lame baby for still caring about a game. But as soon as he moves out to California, all they want to do is play D&D lol

Can we talk about how last season, mike and the guys were hardcore coming at Will for just wanting to play D&D again and told him to grow up (as if the kid didn’t lose out on so many games while being in the upside down) - cut to them being in a whole ass d&d group in high school while Will (who gave up d&d) is a sad loner in California. Kid can’t catch a break lol

@@colddekstar I saw it coming quite early on, but that's definitely just down to the fact that I saw someone theorize that s4 will involve 1 and that 1 is the mindflayer.
So with that in mind, when I saw a new villain that happens to be humanoid and seems to be specifically killing people from Hawkins, it felt fairly obvious.

Everyone’s discussing the DND portion of Will’s isolation, but let’s remember he’s so forgettable the WRITERS forgot his canon birthday and he was a third wheel on his birthday when he heard his step sister/best friend’s gf lie to his best friend all day AND she gave a girl a grade 2 concussion. Justice for Will man, I really feel for him

Joyce went from "I have to find my son!" to not knowing all three of her kids are in danger lol

But in all seriousness, a lot of the new additions were great and Sadie Sink’s performance in _that_ episode was just so so good. Can’t wait for part 2.

I think the plot fell off a cliff when they tried to connect the stories. The buildup was a little to much for the little return. Not much action or upside down until the last 2 episodes.
Not to be a bitch but I really find Sadie to be the weakest actress of the group but maybe that's just me.
Gotta say, that reveal in the last twenty minutes was shot, revealed, and told exactly like a saw movie and I fucking love it

@@user-nf9xm7is3m each time they introduce a different Demogorgon, so they are kind of fresh:
- first season: an "adult" Demogorgon, slow, methodical, smart, extremely durable. Capable of opening temporary gates, and using the gates to go quickly back and forth tactically. Kills people only sparingly (snack?), seems to have a mission.
- second season: very young Demogorgons, fast but not smarter than a dog, vulnerable to gunfire. Not capable of using temporary gates, relies on the overmind for strategy.
- fourth season: Russian military trained Demogorgon, not fully adult, but a ferocious killing machine, very durable. Not capable of using temporary gates, somewhat smart, but cannot overcome its instinctual fear of fire. This one is specialised in killing humans as fast as possible, and it is a lot more efficient at it compared to the previous two.
I think the lack of music made the shootout scene in the house way better too, don't know what it is about it though

Vecna was actually planned since day one. The clocks are heard ticking throughout the entire series, you can hear it when will gets taken and billy when he first encountered the mind flayer
plus the importance of music (Will only survived the upside down because he sang “should I stay or should I go” because it was a sentimental song since Jonathan showed it to him)
Man, so many people write this but it feels like you are all reaching.
Couldn't it be that they just wanted to put in a scary sound and now they did something with it storywise?
So much stuff doesn't add up when you look at the overall story of ST over the seasons when you claim that they had laid out the plot for all 4 seasons from the get go (which goes straight against Netflix policy for series concept).
And where is Vecna in the first 3 seasons? Because he had nothing to do with the plot or the Demogorgon or even the Mindflayer (btw, is our bro on vacation?).
Did he bring in new laws to stop the pollution in the upside down, so the main characters can now breath in it?
Why didn't hopper and Joyce get killed by the bats when they entered the upsidedown?
Oh the ranks are a hivemind now and Vecna instantly knows when you are there? Makes no sense when you watch at every scene from s1.
+Will used the music first to communicate with his mom, not the other way around.
A sentimental song because his brother showed him? What? He tried to send some lyrics that give his mother a clue that he is still alive and not gone.
Duffers put in so much nostalgia bait and you seem to suck it up and give it additional meaning.

The characters themselves question where vecna was too. It’s not something that won’t be addressed. The air in the upside has nothing to do with vecna. Even in season one, will, Joyce, and hopper were fine. In season two it was the same thing with the rest of the cast. It’s pretty clear that the air isn’t as bad as the scientist thought. At least not in smaller doses.
Why didn’t the bats kill Joyce and hopper? Simply put, why would they? At that point in the story, the mind flayed wasn’t even actively after any of the characters. The demogorgan was acting independently. The mind flayer didn’t send out the army because he had no reason to. This is proven in season 2 when the demodogs are sent when the characters get in the way of his plans and they are sent as a result.
This last point doesn’t even make any sense. It seems you don’t understand how vecna works.
Yeah, the song in season one had nothing to do with will’s survival.
the running up that hill scene is gonna go down in history as one of the best scenes in the history of stranger things. I still get chills just thinking about it.

I really liked how in any of the scenes where Max and Lucas are together, they use an orchestral version of Running Up That Hill
The sound design and use of music in this season show is so damn good.
Props to you, Eric, for getting this video out so quickly! Between 13RW and Stranger Things, I'm starting to see a pattern of 4th seasons having the best commentary tracks because these ones have been spectacular so far. Can't wait to finish off the season with you boys come July!

I think the idea behind Wills haircut is actually pretty cool. The costume designer said that they wanted both boys to look like Joyce still cuts their hair and on top of that they looked at actual yearbook pictures from that time and place!

Episode 7 of this season is one of the best Stranger Things episodes ever, it doesn’t miss a beat! Also, that Max ending sequence in Episode 4 was insanely, incredibly, emotionally impactful

the most amazing part of this video is how eric edited miles’ chaotic raps into one coherent rap and of course the excitement over all the “go tigers”
I love that upon seeing the journalist kid, the first thing out Eric’s mouth was the same thing I said, “ok, this kid’s gotta go.”
I love how this season had so many "oh no" moments where it seemed like it was going to be bad, like Eddie's introduction, yet in the end everything turned out amazing.
i LOVED the 001 reveal. I had a similar reaction to you guys when he told El she reminds him of 001. I immediately was like wait...is he? Then when he goes rogue and starts murdering I went crazyyyyyy!!! They did such an amazing job with the twist reveal.
Love how they went from the "Duffer curse" to really enjoying it by the end! I also guessed that Jamie Campbell Bower=001=Vecna and it was so satisfying to see that reveal!

Sink and Bower deserve Emmy Nominations. Dear Billy is the best episode of the series. Running Up That Hill scene is one of the best television has to offer. Vecna is one of the best villains in a while. Love the rest of the cast and the horror tone compare to previous seasons. If they nail Vol 2 This is the best season so far.
He's definitely the best written villain they've had! The reveal at the end was just brilliant as well.

(havent grabbed it myself as i currently have issues with using my credit card due to identity stuff if they take pre paid cards maybe i will in the future though)

13:57 this was my favorite moment of the video. It goes to show how big an impact Robert Englund has had on the horror genre and to us horror fans as playing the iconic Freddy Krueger. I’m so happy he appeared on the show and his performance in Ep. 4 as Victor Creel was amazing, he killed it, no pun intended. This season so far is amazing and I can’t wait for Vol. 2!!!

The transitions this season from the upsidedown to the right side up (???) were so good, I too screamed at them. As for the prison plot, the demogorgon bit was the only interesting part, like seriously the first half of it was unbearable

It makes me so unreasonably happy that you loved this season as much as I did. This one has almost too many memorable and iconic moments, but I think Duff 1 and 2 must have known that the Max escape scene will be the most memorable. It’s incredible and I can’t wait for the part 2.
the duffers actually had at least the outline for this planned since the beginning. when will dissapeared in s1 you hear the clock sound, and you hear the same thing in s3 when billy gets flayed! super cool

There’s not a chance in hell they planned out that far. The much more likely scenario is that they decided in like S3 they needed a huge big bad, and took elements they had already put in and retconned it to be Vecna

I think it being spread out in 3 places makes the season kinda chaotic but truly i don't care because episode 4 was the most incredible episode omg. The Running Up That Hill scene was incredible and I too was shouting no no no the whole time!
Vecna’s house, the cemetery (where max is possessed), and the asylum/college where Victor Creel is held are actually in my home town! It’s a historical building, Berry College, and Myrtle Hill cemetery. They had some roads closed and areas sectioned off around town. I was lucky enough to meet a few of them didn’t see Noah though I guess he was just hanging out in the background lmao
That Vecna reveal makes this season so much better it’s insane.

When you said they didn’t have it in mind for the whole show I actually think they could have because if you go back to when Billy was first attacked in season 3 and when will falls off his bike in season 1 you hear the grandfather clock chime the same as when vecna goes to kill someone
I can imagine that they changed that retroactively.
The first time i saw the scene with Max at Billy's grave? the gravestone said "Billy Hargrove" not William, like it does now. And I don't remember the clock sounds in Season 1 and i watched all the seasons a couple weeks before the new one came out.
Maybe they just went back and added that to make it seem like it was their plan all along. Or they did plan, i have no clue

they actually did have vecna planned since season ONE! bruh if you rewatch you’ll hear the grandfather clock throughout all three seasons. when will falls of his bike in ep 1. when hopper enters the tunnels in season 2 with the upside down shot. when billy gets flayed and steps out of the phone booth in ep2 of season 3. it’s frickin crazy.
When I was watching these episodes myself I kept screaming "GOOOO TIGERS!" at multiple points. I knew PMI would do the same 🤣
I had the opposite piece of the puzzle to you guys. I knew that kid was gonna be Vecna, but didn’t figure out 001 would be him.
So Vecns has actually been planned since season one, you can hear his grandfather clock three times before season 4 :
Season 1 : when will gets kidnapped in episode 1
Season 2: when hopper enters the upside down tunnels for the first time
Season 3: right before billy gets flayed in the upside down
David harbour being Hellboy was my favorite bit from the season 3 video you guys did, I'm glad it's back
