Sam, I recently discovered your videos and I am an Infiniti fan.
I am so happy to find a reviewer that doesn't slam Infiniti left and right for the same things..
They are gorgeous cars with arguably the sexiest designs in the industry, you always make fair reviews on them and I appreciate it.
Thank you and I am so glad I have discovered this great channel.

it's absolutely amazing how simultaneously great the Q has held up and how dated it has been for years. You can turn to any one part of the car like the engine and say wow, this VR30 is still terrific, then go to the JATCO 7-speed and talk about how dated it is. You can talk about how fresh the styling looks going on 10 years old now, then point out how obsolete the infotainment is. It's almost a car that exists in quantum superimposition between being a modern classic and over the hill.

This takes me back...I owned a 2018 Q50RS AWD in obsidian pearl on black int, with every option except carbon fiber bits. I loved it when I bought it and I wanted it to be a car I would keep for a long time. But after you live with the Q50 for a while, it starts to become evident that Infiniti did not spend enough time tuning the ride/handling and of course, that dim-witted Jatco 7AT that we already know is behind the competition so I won't belabor the point. The seats are superb, and were probably one of the best parts of the whole car, tbh. The ride was mostly comfortable, but I found myself unconsciously bracing for impact over expansion strips, railroad tracks, etc, which always felt exceedingly harsh even though I would slow way down for them. The freeway ride was noisy and made it challenging to enjoy the great sound from Bose audio system (not my favorite, but it was still very good). Plus I had to use my warranty a lot more than I would ever have expected with this being a Japanese car - estimated to be about $10k in repairs during the 3 yrs I had it. All things considered, my enthusiasm for the car became less and less over time and I would get an urge to trade it in about every 2-3 months. I finally gave in and sold it in March of 2022 to make room for a '22 Model 3P. I still think the Q is a beauty, and this one, on film at least, looks identical to my car (mine had the traditional bright chrome bits instead of the dark chrome on this one) and watching this reminded me of what could have been. I wanted to love it so badly, but it was not the car that its looks promised, which is very unfortunate, because it's still a very pretty car with so many things going for it. It's a shame Infiniti didn't do more with it over the years, they could have corrected most of the issues over time but instead they basically have done a copy/paste every year since 2014, except for the new engines in '16 and updated front and rear fascia in '18, a dark chrome option for '20...the new 9 speed would have been a welcome upgrade and there is almost no excuse for not improving the ride and noise.

    Spot On @Sam CarLegion!
I recently negotiated my third (3rd) Q50. A "2024", Opal Edition Red Sport.
Despite the regurgitated "hate" on other channels, you are exactly right... This car has no peers at the price point.
    - Looks - Has aged well, despite being a decade old. The huge grills on some of the competitors is a turnoff for many.
    - All Wheel Drive - what comparably priced, appointed, and horsepowered competitor offers AWD?
-- Love the two touch screens, despite the ridiculous notion that they're dated. They are closer to reach and independent of each other rather than having a dash mounted split screen.
    - Bose Audio - I haven't heard anything better out there in a comparable price point
    - Interior - Is there a more comfortable sports sedan out there?
    - Engine - Who has a better 6-cylinder power plant? With more easy mods available? With more horsepower?
AWD-Did I mention AWD? If you live in snow country like I do and this is your every-day driver, are you gonna opt for an IS500? Not bloody likely.
Great review my guy. Thanks for being real and not bowing to the regurgitated narrative!

Miss my Q50S, so thanks for the opportunity to reunite with this car for a few days and to help while doing these amazing rolling shots, that side profile in the sunset...oouf, the proportions are great and the car looks so good after all this time. Any other comment about age and interior etc etc is just opinion and minds won't be changed, my biggest gripe as a previous owner and current Q60 owner is the 7AT. Nevertheless, the car has held up over the years and the aftermarket support is wild - AMS, BMS, Racebox, Z1 to name some of the big players. There are some faaaaaaast Q50s out there. Its an oldie but its still a goodie. I have a sneaky suspicion that the next Q50 will be some kind of EV, but I hope I'm wrong.

It was my 7th INFINITI car and in 2016 it was a actually a decent lease because they offered $12k in discounts. However, in 2023 this car that is virtually identical to my 2016 car in exterior styling but it lists at almost $62k in the US. It still has the exact same engine that the 2016 cars had. The transmission in this car is reliable now but it honestly is just sluggish and not good at all. That isn’t just my opinion either. That is everyone’s opinion that drives it. It just is sluggish. There is no debating that.
I simply don’t agree at all that this styling is good in 2023. You have so many other cars that look better and more modern. The Kia Stinger looks infinitely better. I had both the Q50 and two Kia Stingers. The Kia Stingers were just better in every way imaginable. They looked better, they drove better, and they cost less. I don’t understand why you like this car. It just isn’t relevant anymore. The resell values on them are terrible because it hasn’t progressed in the 8 model years it has been in production. Don’t buy this car. You will regret it. That is coming from a person who has had 7 INFINITI vehicles before including this one. It just isn’t worth it.

Infiniti gets no love out here and is always paling in comparisons made by German fanatics. But I think it just boils down to preference. I used to live in Japan. I love the culture, the people, the tech, the race cars, and etc. While Nissan sucks at life, other Japanase brands offer the kind of reliability I need and am used to. The only reason I passed on a Lexus was because I needed a little more power and performance, which the Q60 offers. When I do purchase purely for long term reliability though, it will be a Lexus. For now, I have a Q50 RS and while its not as nice looking or head turning as my 60 was, the steering is so much better for me and is more comfortable for long drives (I travel a lot). I test drove them all but was not interested in joining the German club for image when I know repairs and maintenace issues will eventually depress me as well as my bank account, unless i lease it and turn it back in at 30k miles. Infiniti warranties are better for me and what I need. I love the engine and the HP offered. It makes up for the ok interior. So do my white seats, which is a cool look. The Q60 turned more heads since its less common but my Q50 is also one of the few combined trim and colors that exist in the U.S. German and Japanese cars are all over the road here in California. Aside from the Q60, this is not always good if you prefer to stand out but this also speaks to the love for both brands despite the hate/concerns from both sides. I typed all this to simply say, I prefer Japanese.

Ley me be he first slam, and as a owner not a hater, I had 3 straight Infiniti's (G37 IPL, QX50 and Q50 Red Sport). My 2016 Red Sport looks almost identical to the 2023, I left Infiniti because nothing changed, the wheels, exhaust, interior screens, they jus kept hitting the Nissan parts bin. I traded for a 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, a crossover but still sporty, and only a few thousands dollars more. The differences; 21 inch wheels, road preview suspension, adjustable exhaust, insulated body and wheel wells, acoustic glass all around, head up display, 14.5 infotainment with an excellent controller wheel, wireless charging, heated/cooled front seats, 3rd zone climate with heated rear seats, panoramic moonroof, Napa leather with suede inserts, over the air updates, massage driver seat, carbon fiber trim, multi-color ambient lighting, full safety suite including Driver Assist II, brushed aluminum switchgear (no plastic), alloy pedals, fingerprint recognition,, Smart Park (inside or outside the vehicle), limited slip differential, Digital key, suede headliner, Lexicon 16 way speakers, and more. The drive in comfort mode is way more luxurious, the change to sport/sport+ is more profound. I owned the Infiniti for five years and next month will be two years with the GV70, so I speak from experience. The Q50 is a decade behind the industry, great engine (thirsty) but lacking many of the expected features of a modern vehicle. It should be priced $10K less, sales are miserable. Going from the Red Sport to the GV70, SUV of the year, was an eye opener how dated the Red Sport was. Infiniti sales are in the toilet, only the QX60 does well. Now Infiniti's biggest problem is Genesis, the brand is in danger.
