      Hi Pam, I live in Calgary, and all my cars are protected with a full stone guard. The only problem is that I'm having some swirl marks on the stone guard. Tried to polish it with a rupes compound and rupes polisher with a rupes pads, didn't remove the swirl marks. Is there a way to remove the swirl marks from the ppf?Thank you for your reply in advance.

      You can as long as you use an appropriate iron remover, and perforated clay towel. We explained this in my video here: ruclips.net/video/-9pVgjQFe1U/видео.html

So many products, and the time stamps in your video description makes it super easy to go back and find a certain product you talked about. Yes, after this I feel much more confident applying Ceramic coating as well as what other products to use to keep that coating lasting longer and looking better. I have several more cars to Ceramic Coat, and I can't wait to get started!

    Good tutorial Pan on ceramic/graphene coatings. In regards to stripping washes, one of the best stripping/paint prep/decontamination washes I have ever used is Griot's Foaming Surface Prep. That stuff works absolutely amazing and if you mix it at a higher dilution or use it full strength it works incredibly well at stripping off waxes and sealants to get the surface squeaky clean! Compared to Purple Power Vehicle and Boat Wash and Adams Strip Wash (which I also have) it is on another level. In fact, probably 2 to 3 levels above. You just have to wear nitrile gloves when working with it because it can chemically burn your hands at higher dilution ratios or full strength (I know, I did it to myself. Not crazy burns, but it did strip a surface level of skin off my palms so I am guessing it has a very high PH level). But gosh does that stuff work good as a stripping type of wash. Highly recommend that stuff for any stripping or decontamination wash.

    You’re awesome Pan! You should’ve been a college professor. I’m serious you’re the best teacher, compared to anyone else I’ve ever tried to learn from. I’m 63 yrs old so that says a lot. What makes you so good is that you carefully break down each and every step, clearly and concisely. You further give relevant examples and offer other alternatives methods. You not only explain the processes but explain why they are so, and the potential benefits, options or consequences of cutting corners. You explain the science behind your teaching. Your classes will benefit the novice as well as seasoned professionals. You anticipate and preemptively answer potential questions. At the end of each section you quickly review so that its super clear. As if all that is not enough you perform the task yourself so that we can visually experience the lesson along with the products used. You offer your students a complete list of products used in all video descriptions. Everything you do, you do exceedingly well. You’ll be way over a million students in no time.
    You’re friendliness and wonderful personality also makes the lessons very engaging and enjoyable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ♥️ for all your hard work and dedication!

    For reader information, i have used Cquarts UK, Gyeon Syncro, and 22ple HPC over many cars for many years. I would recommend 22ple HPC for the EASIEST to apply especially for beginners. The flash time for this one is very generous. UK one flashes very fast and a bit sticky. Gyeon one is the most finicky which requires many layers as well as extra buffing and exact timing.

      A light polish might still be needed if the vehicle you took delivery of has a wax or sealant, and 99.9999% of times, dealerships apply some cheap wax prior to delivery to make the car look good and justify the crazy "dealer prep" price they have on your sticker. And as it's crucial to make sure you remove ALL previous protections before applying a coating, machine polishing is the only way to ensure 100% removal of that dealership crap.
      That's why you see detailers polish a car before applying a coating. It's not just to remove scratches and swirl marks. Also, it's rare in my 27 years of experience, that I see a flawless paintwork when a new vehicle is delivered to a customer. I have a bunch of new car prep videos, where you can see there is always swirls and scratches in the paint. See a few examples below:

    Pan I get this question a lot. Can you still coat cars that have paint damage, deep scratches, rock chips, things of that nature? A lot of people think they need a new car or new paint job to do so.

    • @Daviddear30
      @Daviddear30 3 года назад +1

      Yes you can. Some people aren't going to get the damage fixed. Some don't even do paint correction 1st.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  3 года назад

      You still can, as long as you prep the surface correctly. The reason why we polish cars before applying a ceramic coating is because you want the paint to look as good as it can before "sealing" it for many years. But you could still apply a coating on top of scratched paint, as long as there is clear coat there to bond to, it will bond.

    • @PanTheOrganizer

      This is simple once you understand the basics:
      1) wash the car
      2) use an iron remover to remove brake dust and fallout
      3) use a clay bar to remove any other embedded contaminants in the paint
      4) if needed, machine polish the surface to remove defects like swirls, scratches, oxidation
      5) use a paint prep spray (or isopropyl alcohol mix) to remove polishing oils and residue
      6) apply the ceramic coating
      To help you put those steps into perspective, watch one of the videos below where I fully detail a car from A to Z:

    Hi Pan, thanks for all of your videos and advice!!! I’m getting ready to detail my 2008 Volvo XC70 to your standards now that I know what and how to do it. I’ve owned it for 6-years and have done an interior cleaning each spring and try to do weekly maintenance washes, which are difficult in the winter here in Syracuse, NY. I want to do a ceramic coating on it so this video was perfect to outline my plan of attack on the proper steps to follow. No garage so I’m going to get a Harbor Freight 10 x 20 canopy to work under in the driveway and will perhaps be ready to attach some separate tarps for side walls in case of rain. Aargh, so many products and tools but I’Ve begun buying them as I get everything setup. Cheers and thanks again Pan, Michael G.

    Hello again. Out of curiosity, I researched some of the ceramic coatings that come in a glass bottle (i.e., CQ.UK, GP Graphene Coating, Gyeon Mohs Evo, etc.,) most of them are nearly $100 (USD)! Too steep for me presently. Will stick with Turtle Wax's Hybrid Ceramic Coating and Graphene Flex Coating. Thanks for providing such a great master class on applying ceramic coatings for cars!!!

      Spray versions are a good way to get into ceramic protection without breaking the bank, and they are easy and quick to apply. They will still give you 6-12 months of protection in the case of the products you mentioned from Turtle Wax.

      It's quite simple. When a ceramic coating reaches the end of its lifespan, or you simply want to remove the coating and apply a new one, you have to go through all these steps again, from A to Z, including machine polishing. Polishing is the only way to ensure 100% removal of any coating, as mechanical abrasion is needed.

    Pan, honestly this was such a great video. So detailed, thoroughly thought out. 🙏
    I do feel a lot more confident attempting a coating.
    I have clayed my car already and done a paint correction/machine polish a few weeks back. I might do another machine polish as I can see some minor swirls here and there. Is it okay if I do a final machine polish right before I apply the coating?
    Finally - it sounds like graphine is the way to go as it’s more advanced. However, I am a newbie and this will be my first coating DIY. Are there any products you would recommend for me because it’s my first kick at the can?
    Thanks again for your great content Pan! 😊🙏

      Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes you can polish the same day as you apply the coating. But always do a paint prep spray step after polishing (to remove polishing oils) before applying the coating.
      Don’t worry about graphene vs ceramic. What we learned is that graphene coatings are built on a ceramic base with a bit of reduced graphene oxide in them. What is more important is buying a coating from a reputable brand.

    Hi Pan, given that graphene cant bond to the paint surface, most graphene coatings apparently have a very small amount of actual graphene in them and are predominantly ceramic based. How does this small amount of graphene make the vehicle less susceptible to water spots? I can't seem to wrap my head around it. Water spotting should occur to all coatings, and as you've mentioned will vary based on a bunch of factors. So I'm keen to hear your explanation about how the graphene limits water spotting and now that they've been out a few years, what your real world experience is with that particular aspect of the graphene coating. Many thanks, Pete :)

      No you only do this entire process once, as true coatings last for years. Once applied, you do a maintenance type wash once every 2-3 months to maintain the coating. You use a ceramic topper during those maintenance washes.

    - I understand I need to use an SiO2 spray (Reload in my case) for maintenance. Just to confirm this would replace a quick wax? Because the quick wax would be that “inferior product “ and would cover your ceramic coating.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  3 года назад +1

      Correct. You don't apply quick waxes on ceramic coatings. You use proper SiO2 spray sealants like CarPro Reload, Gyeon Cure, Kamikaze Over Coat, Gtechniq C2V3, The Last Coat 2.0, Lithium Ceramic Slam, etc.

      @@PanTheOrganizer I purchased my 23 Civic Sport in July. My old car I didn’t really spend much time cleaning as it was pretty old so I would just run it the the auto washes. Of course I want to do everything I can to keep my new car looking great so before I washed it the first time I came to RUclips in search of tips on the best methods. I had watched some other channels then one search “I don’t remember exactly what for” I found you & I have been watching since. I subscribed & turned on the notifications so I never miss one. You are great at explaining things so that even us newbie’s to detailing our cars can understand & put into practice! Without watching some of your video beforehand I definitely would have made some mistakes & possible damage to my car! Thanks for everything you do!

    Hi Pan, great videos - very informative and as an engineer, appreciate the level of detail! I’m curious if you’ve tried the Revivify coating products? It appears to be a type of ceramic-based coating but with some unique properties. Trying to find some real head to head comparisons and think your channel would be a great spot for it.

    Now spring is here, I want to try and put a ceramic coating on the car with no access to a garage. Every day this week, I have had bird poo on the car.
    What would be the solution to taking poo off, if the car was hit say 1 min or so after you have applied the coat. Looking at applying Mohs. Many thanks in advance.

    You have been the only video I found that explained it completely about flashing/buffing process. I think that is the step I missed in all other videos. All other videos talk about it flashing but then talks about how long it probably will take to "sweat" but never really said ok once you see the rainbow effect, start "buffing". So I think after playing around a while, leaving graphene for 1 to 2 minutes versus waiting for it to flash and buffing then made a difference. Obviously this is after all said and I have done the car already. If you have made a huge mistake with pretty much the entire car, what now? Do I just wait till it wears down and reapply in the future or should I ??

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 года назад

      It shouldn't be an issue if you don't see any high spots. If the paint looks good, just continue as is.

    You can safely reuse the towels. Prepare 4 gallons of water with microfiber cleaner solution in it. Soak the towels in that bucket immediately after use. I have done this over 5 years of ceramic coating without a problem. Another good practice is that I use 8-12 towers per 1 layer of ceramic coating on 1 sedan car.

    Pan I own a landscape design company. I’m upgrading my 2020 Ford f 250 to a 2022 Ford f 250. I plow in the winter and haul equipment and materials daily during the season. This is an everyday truck for me as well. So a couple questions.
    1.) Which product would you suggest to coat the exterior of my truck with? I’m looking for durably and shine.
    2.) What product would you suggest for the interior coating? Mainly the leather seats since I’m usually pretty dirty during work days. I have seat covers right now because I’m afraid of ruining my current truck.
    Thanks in advance. I’ve watched a ton of your videos

      Meguiar’s Gold Class shampoo is ok on coated cars, but there are better shampoos available like CarPro Reset which is my favourite for ceramic or graphene coated cars.

      Congrats on your new Toyota! Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on RUclips as we surpassed 1 million subscribers and we have over 145 million views! I have been detailing for 27 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers.
      You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
      A new car is never new until it's properly detailed.
      - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example.
      - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc
      - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements
      - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches
      - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat.
      If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well.
      I explain all of this in this popular video: ruclips.net/video/QgoyrC-5CMc/видео.html
      So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car for my customers:
