Kick in the Teeth and Getting Away with Murder are some of their heavier hits in similarity to "Nu Metal," but really Papa Roach is just Hard Rock with some Punk/Emo Rock mixed in there. None of them bad, nor lesser than others in genre, but not really metal nor nu metal. As someone born 1990, I wouldn't be surprised if this and other similar styled genres gets retro-actively grouped and named Neo-Hair Metal based on these old music videos from the 90's-2000's lol

Papa Roach are so worth digging more into, I swear. Their most recent stuff (e.g. Ego Trip, the record) is good, too. They evolved much over the years, one can argue, if they are still nu metal or rather alternative rock. However, they incorporate so many different genres like hip hop and also EDM that I think it's still engulfing the nu metal spirit of blending genrres together. Good songs to check out are: F.E.A.R. Gravity (with Maria Brink of In This Moment) Crooked Teeth Forever Leave a Light on Swerve (this is a hip hip track)
Ah this song always reminds me of a festival I went to probably 13 years ago now. Music was playing in between bands and this came on. The whole crowd just sang their hearts out. Obviously I joined in too. But this song takes me straight back to that moment every time I hear it

Papa Roach's first mainstream album "Infest" (2000) is purely Nü Metal, a staple of the genre itself. The next album "Lovehatetragedy" (2002) is somewhat a continuation, but although it's also Nü Metal, it contains less rap and hip hop elements. Then, the band completely shifted into a more heavy rock and alternative metal sound with their 2004 album "Getting Away With Murder". The single Scars is from this album and that's why it sounds so different from Last Resort (Infest) and the remaining Papa Roach's catalog up until then.

With some people, one of the worst things you can do is tell them “you can’t hang” when alcohol is involved. Some people take it as a challenge and before you know it, they’re hammered. Me, I’m like “yes! You are absolutely correct, I can’t hang.” I genuinely do not care if someone thinks I’m a p***y cuz I have a low tolerance for alcohol. I gotta look out for myself. Especially if I have to drive home… My parents come over every Monday and y’all make them laugh when you punch Monday in the face 😆😊
A really good thing about a low tolerance is that it usually comes with a smaller bar tab at the end of the night lol as long as you don't get stuck being the group babysitter. That's the worst. I never understood peer pressure to get other people to drink more alcohol that you yourself most likely paid for. It's like when I suggest I'm about to go outside and smoke, there's always that one person that's like "I'll go out with you but you can't get me to smoke" and I'm like "okay, I didn't offer anyway" lol "more for me? oh darn". But drunk people always seem to be trying to get someone else as drunk as them. I've never seen a stoner say "man, I wish that guy over there would come smoke my whole stash".

You guys are confused on genres. Nu metal is bands like early Linkin Park, Mudvayne, System of a Down. Last Resort is mainly rap rock/metal and Scars is alternative rock with emo influences. Mainstream emo rock is bands like MCR, Hawthorne Heights and Silverstein.

I like Papa Roach, but this song and album was a bit too "emo" for my preferences. Still is a catchy song for sure.
