    Thank you! I was curious about the hitch pin. I wonder if it should lock into position.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  Год назад

      Hello. The hitch pin, in this case called the Auto-Pin, will open wide to enable the stinger to insert into the hitch, then the pin can be manually closed through the hitch pin hole to provide correct positioning of the stinger into the hitch and supplemental retention of the rack into the hitch. The tools-free turn knob tightens the wedge on the stinger to create hitch retention and an anti-wobble connection to the hitch. Thanks!

  • @georgeskinner2474
    @georgeskinner2474 Год назад

    When I first tried to install my new T2 Pro XTR it would not slide into the 1-1/4 inch receiver. It kept hanging up on the wedge. I thought the hitch was defective. But actually the wedge was sliding rearwards due to friction and getting pushed outwards by the rack stinger. I started to hold the stinger with one hand, while sliding the hitch into the receiver, and at the same time pushing the wedge forward. That was a bit awkward. Now I keep a strong, fat rubber band on the stinger and slide that over the wedge to hold it in the correct position while installing the rack into the receiver. I assume that after the rack has gotten some more use it will wear in and the rubber band trick will not be needed.

    2 Questions:
    1) What are the handlebar lengths for the fat bike used in this video, and the Scott Spark used in the "Thule 9034 T2 Pro Bike Rack" video?
    2) If purchasing the rack & +2 add on via your website (part numbers Thule 9034XTB+9036XTB) do all the locks match to the same key or will there be 2 sets of keys?
    Very thorough, appreciate the time spent making this video. You may consider adding a "Playlist" link in the description to showcase the other bike rack videos you have.

      Hi Adrian, 1) Bar width on the 24 inches. Important to note, you'll get the best fit possible when the vehicle's hitch is flush with the bumper. 2) Yes, when you purchase the 9034XTB+9036XTB as a single product on our site, it will be key matched. Thanks for your questions and feedback.

      Hello. This "hook on wheel" type of platform racks are not suitable for front fendered bikes. The Thule EasyFold XT is a good example of a fender compatible rack design: www.rackattack.com/hitch-bike-racks/thule-easyfold-xt-hitch-bike/

    my rack is installed but when i attempt to remove the rack by twisting the knob, the knob will not ‘catch’ to shrink the hitch arm adjustment. i’ve tried unlocking and relocking the knob mechanism but to no avail. have you came across a similar situation with this rack before? any tips?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  Год назад

      Hello. The locking turn knob will spin freely when locked, with the knob unlocked it will engage and loosen the wedge, pull the auto-pin away from the hitch pin hole and this will allow the rack to be removed from the hitch. Can the hook be manipulated to be secured on the bike frame since bike with 20in wheels there is a short fender? Also, since only one foldable ebike is carried, could the rear wheel tie down from the 2nd bike secure the front wheel if it’s possible to place the hook down on the top tube of the frame?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 года назад

      Thule intended for the arm to be attached about 1 inch from the front forks. I have seen people do some wild things that worked for them, but wasn't recommended. I always recommend using a rack as per the manufacturer's notes as they do a lot of safety testing on their products. Most front fenders are decorative and easily removed. If the Fender's can't be removed I would normally recommend the Thule Easyfold XT or something that provides frame support.

      Once you unlock with the key then reach down there and turn the knob to loosen the rack from the hitch. Also make sure to pull that small safety bar/hook out of the hole of the hitch too. Then the rack should easily come out.

WTH? sure not as easy as in this super clean studio situation! I still don't have it off and wondering if any experienced voices can suggest solutions. Also, the knob is in a super inconvenient location! I would so get a 1Up if was purchasing again.

    • @SirCamsmorethanalot

      Forgot to mention, I had applied Rust Chek and let it creep in to no advantage. I'd like to say also that in this video, when he demonstrates the easy to use rack release handle, notice the clamping arm is several inches away from sitting on the platform. When it is on the platform which is the usual travelling position, it is a tight squeeze to get your fingers in there. Usually, you'll end up doing it from the side you are on which requires wrist gymnastics. I don't understand all the Thule fanboys posting love below!

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 года назад

      Hello. Thanks for your comments. Regarding the handle, there should only be the same amount of tension on the handle as when it was installed, in other words, the handle will not get tighter while in use. If your rack was left installed for a prolonged period of time and subjected to snow/salt/sandy conditions, it may be possible that some corrosion has taken place and created the situation being described. Always a good idea to remove the rack periodically for general maintenance. Regarding the location of the T2 handle vs 1UP, they're both in the same general location, however, the 1UP requires a special wrench to remove while the Thule has the tools-free key locking handle. Hope this helps you and/or others reading. Thanks!

    Question for those that own this type of rack. If the tire was to lose air, would the bike become unstable? I ask because I have the type of rack that has the arms that the bike hangs from, and several times after a ride while driving home, my tires lost air due to something getting stuck in the tire. Just curious about this as I really want to upgrade to a cradle style rack like this.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  6 лет назад

      It may be more of an issue on bikes with a wider/larger tire but you'll want to inspect your wheels/tires before travel and stop and check if traveling for a long time.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 года назад

      If you wish to use this rack and your bikes have front fenders, the only solution will be to remove or modify the front fender.
      The are other options such as the Yakima onRamp which grab onto the bike frame. This style of rack would solve the issue of the front fender.

    • @wlew3499
      @wlew3499 3 года назад

      @@rackattack Thanks for your response. Most bikes are absent the ftr fender but for those who have the fender would not modify or remove(they like it). Not owning a bike with a fender, might find yourself having to accommodate someone with a fender. Could possibly swing that upright tire arm & strap it to the frame of the bike????

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  8 лет назад +2

      It is recommended to be removed when not in use. Like anything else left in the elements, it will be subjected to wear and tear at a quicker rate. A more frequent maintenance interval will be needed.

    • @wolfmoon222
      @wolfmoon222 8 лет назад

      Rack Outfitters thanks for the quick reply! The 1up rack can be left on 24/7 right? I live in an Apartment and have no room for the rack it needs to stay on. What do you recommend? Have a fat bike

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  8 лет назад +1

      The Thule T2 is a great choice, especially for fat bikes. Can't speak for the 1up rack you mentioned, but as stated before, it will be subjected to wear and tear when left on 24/7. Whichever rack you choose, you'll need to remove it, inspect it for damages, and maintain it on a frequent basis.

    Front stabilizer……. What if the bike has fenders?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 года назад

      We recommend removing the front fenders if you can or another rack would be better suited as the T2 needs to clamp on the tire within a inch of the Forks. Most fenders don't have the strength to have the arm clamped down and safely support the bike. The Thule EasyFold is our best selling rack for bikes with front fenders.
      www.rackattack.com/hitch-bike-racks/thule-easyfold-xt-hitch-bike/
      There are other options for front fender bikes but they tend to have a lesser weight capacity than the EasyFold.
