    Tip, buy the 2 rack handle, cut down the rods so it slots in between 1 and 2 and enough you don't pinch your fingers. This will stay on with rack 1 as well by itself. Now you always have easier tilting.

    Great review, really helpful! I think I’m going to order the exact same setup: the single rack with the add-on rack for flexibility. One question for you. Have you used any of their additional lock sets (either the 1/4 turn wheel lock or the add-on lock to secure the add-on extension)? Both seem like nice features but at $25 each I’m not sure if it’s worth it. How do you secure your bike to the rack when on a road trip? Just wondering what your thoughts are given your experience with this rack. Thanks!

      Hey there, I’ve considered it but I believe it only locks into the wheels and not through the frame. Being that the frame is the part I’m most concerned with being stolen I just use a cable and fish it through the frame and wheels and then lock it to the truck :) also?

From the outer edge of my reciever which sits flush with thr bumper to the oute edge of my spare tire which is large is approximately 10". Do you think that rack , with a bike on it will clear the tire. It appears you have plenty of space. Thanks

      @GetBusyLivin  Год назад

      Hi Anthony, I just did some measuring and looks like the rack portion is about 12 inches from the bumper when at full extension, so you should ideally be able to fit a bike no problem. I can share an image if you'd like. Reach out to me on instagram @rocky.mtn.ranger

    Amazon's "Hitch Wall Mount" $23.00. Good video, thanks. However, checking the wobble by lifting it in the middle at the hitch receiver (as you did) tells us nothing about twisting wobble at the ends. The weight of the bike (and rack) reduces the up-and-down wobble at the middle of rack, BUT the real wobble concern is how much it moves up-and-down on the ends of the rack. The only way to check looseness or wobble is to lift it forcefully on either end. We want to know how much "play" there is in the circular movement around the hitch tongue axis; the twisting in the receiver when hitting bumps. Shaking the rack up-and-down on the ends tells us how functional is the ball-bearing in the receiver tongue to make it stable from twisting at the ends. Your bike probably weights about 20-30 lbs, my dual battery, dual motor ebike weights 90+ lbs. And yes, I know Colorado is perfectly flat with no hills or valleys, no rocky off-road trails, and no potholes on side roads. But here in the Midwest we need to know how stable the rack/bike is when we hit bumps or uneven pavement. If you really want the challenge of torture-testing your mountain bikes, you need to come to Iowa someday. 😁 I live close to the 1-UP factory in Wisconsin, so likely will be buying the Super Duty single rack soon. Thanks again for vid.

    • @GetBusyLivin
      @GetBusyLivin  6 дней назад

      haha good points, man. i know it’s not shown in the video but the anti-wobble is really legit compared to other racks i’ve seen. i think side-to-side prob does have more play but it’s not significant enough to make a bunch of noise or rock anything loose. I think i mention in the vid, but i ran it across an extremely bumpy trail for like 60 miles and everything was in tact. those midwest bumps should be no problem! for what it’s worth, my wife’s fam is from the midwest! we did some riding in duluth with this rack!

    Nicely done video, very thorough. Do you know the distance from the back of your tail gate to the bike as I have a full size rear spare tire mount?

    • @GetBusyLivin
      @GetBusyLivin  8 месяцев назад

      Hey Steve, that distance varies by about 6 inches as the male end has a slot to allow it to move closer and further from the vehicle. I just measured and at it's closest the frame of the bike is 10inches at the forks. It's about 6 inches at the pedals. and 4 inches at the handlebars. Ideally the pedals could be moved out of the way and the handlebars should be above the tire but you'd have to test that out. Again, you have 6 inches to play with so should be some wiggle room to get to about 16 inches for the frame

      I had this on the FJ prior to this truck and did not need any extension. I cannot remember if I was able to open the door with a bike on it or not. In the down position I mean. Also, it will work with 1 bike rack on it but if you add to and tilt all the way up it will not clear. You'll have to have it tilted at the 45% angle to clear

    When you have it up does it block the rear license plate? Do you recommend getting the heavy duty double (for whenever my wife rides with me) or a single then get an add on?

    • @GetBusyLivin
      @GetBusyLivin  Год назад +3

      It does block the rear license plate but I've never been pulled over so not sure they care. Especially here in CO, I think it's so common they ignore it. Also, when bikes are loaded I can't imagine it's easy to see the plate. Regarding the one single vs double, if you plan to always have bikes only on the hitch rack, I'd recommend the double. The only reason I bought the single was because I used to have an FJ Cruiser and when fully tilted up it would block the door from opening if I had a double and I couldn't fully tilt it. So I purchased a single rack for my bike, and then a crossbar roof rack for whenever someone else wanted to join. However, another great thing about these racks, I was able to use that same roof bike rack as my add-on hitch rack later once I got my truck. All that to say, I think 2 on the rear hitch is the way to go. Very easy to load and unload

      @@GetBusyLivin Thx for the feedback. I drive a Mazda CX5 (small SUV). Would I be able to open the hatch without moving the rack? Does the same key fit all locks? Do you recommend the 2" HEAVY DUTY DOUBLE...to hold 45 ib e-bike and 15Ib gravel bike and do I order direct from 1up-usa?

    • @GetBusyLivin
      @GetBusyLivin  Год назад +1

      @@Drostvideo with bikes on you would only be able to open with the rack tilted all the way down. Without bikes, you could definitely open the hatch but likely not with it tilted all the way up. The rack supports 50lbs per rack so should be sufficient for your e-bike, however I would probably call them and confirm. Not sure if you could do 1 super duty for the e-bike and 1 heavy duty for the gravel. And yes you order direct. 1up-usa.com/product/2-heavy-duty-double
