What a funny coincidence! I had a car(early '90's) I [nicknamed] "the tank", too! Difference is, the car i named that was my 1980 BMW 528i. It's also funny how both cars have a 3 digit numeric designation that begins with the number 5. My reason for calling it "the tank"(German, of course) was the SAME as yours . . . unstoppable* vehicle! By mid 90's, I was driving a white '69 510 4-door. I loved that 510, especially after the many performance upgrades I did to it. It was so much fun to drive! Today, I drive a Toyota TUNDRA. I call it: "reliable".

The 280 ZX is the best looking mass production sports car of all time. It’s the pinnacle of classic sports car design, before everything got ultra streamlined and plastic-y. It was iconic in its own time, I was a kid in the early 80s and remember everyone needed the 280zx hot wheels lol. Nothing back in that day looked anything like it, other than Porsches or Jaguars or other exotics. The corvette still looked like the 70’s with its balloon tires, dodge and Ford had their competing dumpy looking hatchbacks, but the 280zx was in a league of its own. Still looks great today,

Like the car cannot be controlled by all of it's owners because the car is possessed. That turned me off. It's racing man. I don't need possessed car BS. The protagonist also crashed the car. Rebuilding the car is too long for me. A crashed car means no racing for a while also in the anime. I didn't even know that it's more about tunning. I don't know if it's worth another try watching some of the episodes. Maybe it will get interesting... I watched Capeta. That is another racing manga/anime that I know is good. Can you suggest any racing anime/manga? It doesn't have to be just cars. I watched the marathon anime on Netflix. It's more on the reality of college marathon running. It's not good but I finished it. I tried watching Free the swimming anime. I stopped watching it because the characters started to get weird. It's like the they are male guys but the scenes are almost gay. I also have watched Yowamushi Pedal. A highschool cycling racing anime. It's kind of fun not to be taken seriously racing anime.
My grandfather has a '68 Datsun 2000 Roadster in Ivory. Beautiful car, he bought it back in '68 and has had it ever since. He doesn't drive it much because years ago someone slashed the top and stole everything from inside.

In 1980 my first car was a 1969 Datsun 510 two door. I sold it after the origional 1600 engine blew and I replaced it with an 1800 Japanese crate engine. Then after installing the replacement engine I apparently didn't close the hood all of the way and it flew up braking my wind shield and bending the A-pillars! I sure do wish I still had that car!
My dad had a B210, and that car was reliable as all hell. He got it in his 20s back in the 70s. Traded it for a Sentra in the early 90s. Also, I still occasionally see Datsun pickups on the roads. It's a testament to how reliable and well built Datsuns were. It's kinda sad to see what Nissan has become nowadays. Hopefully, they get back to what made them such a great competitor. BTW, has anyone requested an Up to Speed on Mazda and/or the Mazda3 and Mazda6? Any of the non-Miata, non-RX Mazda models? If not, I'd love to see some more Mazda stuff. Oh, and happy belated birthday, James!
