Toni Capone for real. I remember seeing my dad choke up was something I thought I’ve never see, he was talking about my great grandmother, they had good relationship, she would end up passing away a month later. She was so special. 106 years on this earth. I miss her so much.

This is the first episode of "Up to Speed" I've ever watched and it's still my favourite, the way James speaks of Carroll is the same way many of us feel about him. The passion, the admiration, there would no one like Shelby.
Shannoy Daley 1) punctuation is your friend. It helps readers discern what you’re trying to say. 2) he got emotional for two reasons, he really admires Carroll Shelby, and because Donut is taking off. He’s the Editor In Chief, for all intents and purpose, it’s his baby. He’s proud of his teams success.
LightningVolt127 The fact that you believe that those tears are real is just a testament to the man's ability to perform for his audience. I love this channel and will continue to support it!
Dude, you can tell Pumphrey has worked hard for this. I don't know whether or not he was the one who put the Donut team together, but Donut started out really small and you can tell that he's put all of his blood, sweat, and tears into the company. I think his crying is for real.
I've been on RUclips since the very beginning and I gotta say, James and his team are the most deserving of praise for the quality of work and quirky brand of humour they put out week after week. It's just amazing how fast they churn out these caliber of videos. I never thought there'd be a show that could step toe to toe with UK's TopGear and yet here you are. For us that can't show up for reasons like distance, could it be live streamed? We would love to see the faces of Donut that are off camera and thank them any way we can.
My grandpa was a lifer in the military and retired as a Master Sergeant and helicopter mechanic. His first car was a 1968 Mustang Boss 302. He sold it when he enlisted and went to 'Nam where he was a door gunner and when he made it back he tracked his car down and bought it back for what he sold it for. He still has it in his garage. He has owned nothing but Fords since. In 2010 he bought that brand new redesigned Shelby Cobra he had been saving for years for. He was retired so he likes to tinker and decided he wanted to put a different intake on it and some other minor things. This required that the Cobra emblem be moved to the other side of the front grill. He refused to do it without permission because he held Carroll Shelby in such high esteem. He sent a letter addressed to Shelby shortly after he bought the car and he actually got one back, signed by Shelby, stating that it was okay for him to move the emblem for modification purposes and that the car could still be considered a real Cobra Mustang. Obviously as we now know Shelby died not that long after. The letter is framed and hung in a glass case on the wall of his garage and him showing it to me is one of the only times I've ever seen him cry. I'm not really a "my car is better because it's a Chevy/Ford" type of guy but it's plain to see how important Ford and the Shelby name are to some people. This guy was and still is a large part of American car culture and I doubt that will ever die. If there ever was a car that screams "FUCK YEAH AMERICA" it's the goddamned Mustang and the Cobra emblem on the front.
Carroll Shelby is the reason ford has performance. Dodge has a Viper and the list goes on and on. thanks Carroll Shelby your input on performance American “not just a straight line bout.”
Seems like he is the reason America has performance. I mean as someone from europe when I think american performance I think Ford Mustang, AC Cobra and Dodge Viper. And of course Corvette. And well all of those except the Corvette seem to be because of Shelby. What a man!

TheOneNOnlyAxi right?
Thank you donut for doing what you do, and thank you James. You are a legend just like mr shelby and will live on forever in the "genuine, good guy, hall of fame" you have been able to do more for the world and for yourself without a dad, then most of us who had fathers ever could. We love ya brother.
Aw man don't cry. I'm crying rn. 😭😭😭. U guys deserved 1 million+.
Congratulations on 1.000.000 Subscribers guys!

Hey Donut, this is the content we want. Don't see anything like this being pumped out right now.
Honestly never have seen a channel more deserving of anything they have and more. You guys are awesome!
dude you guys keep uploading more than I can even count
and only quality
Don't mind because it's quality content
Pixel can you count????
no.
I can’t take too many more of these crying sessions with James. I’m starting to get in my feels
I was watching the video and then I said well, here we go, we're crying together one more time
I watched this when it came out, and I continue to watch it again and again. The story of Carroll is legendary, and told by James is impactful. I tear up with James every time I swear. Thank you Donut.
Congratulations on 1 million subscribers. You guys really deserve it!
Please next time: “Up to speed on James marriage”
Why is no one making a Carroll Shelby movie?
because nothing you can film would ever do him the justice he deserves
All the mustang fans were hit by out of control fords, leaving car shows. 😃
stu booth 😐
need for speed movie
2014 mustang was missing.
The jacket hood, Future Trunks and a windshield. Greatest combination.
And now a moment of silence for Carroll Shelby.....
nitrous36 I would think Carroll wouldn’t want silence. But instead hear the tire squeal and supercharger whine coming from a GT500
#murica
Landan Keichline Well yeah of course, the moment of silence would be followed by revving V8s and burn outs.
And then you follow all that up with 200 mph top speed runs down the leman straights without the chicanes.
Carroll Shelby worked with chicken before being a car monster
Christian Von Koenigsegg worked with chicken before being a car monster
Somehow, cars and chicks blend so nicely
for real. its not just us. it was your Work, the million. your stiry telling, the effort. you can really see the heart, thats poured into the videos, that its your passion, doing that. sure, we are the million, but you guys (i know you shouldnt pick a favorite kid, but expecialy YOU james) are the reason we come to this awesome place of man and motor.
and for the end of my statement: thanks guys
Hey James, I needed some motivation.. and I just immediately thought about this video. For both you (the whole donut family) and Shelby, success is fought for and I needed to remember that. For that I thank you guys.
