The all-new for 2022 Yamaha YZF-R7 is Yamaha's latest middleweight sportbike offering with a very familiar feel. But just how does this machine stack up against what was previously known and is this the right bike for you? Watch more to find out! - Авто/Мото
So many people beat-up on this bike but I don't think they get it. It's a super twin (with the new 700cc extension) - not a 4-cyl SS. It's made to compete with the RS660, SV650 etc., not 4-cylinder 130BHP SS bikes. It's designed primarily for the road with track day fun in stock form, as well as serious racing with upgrades (when it has them it will be a contender in ST/Lightweight TT races and the like - and why TST will be interested). The R7 name was required to fit with 07 and (T)7 names in the Yam line-up and who cares what they released 15 years ago - how many other names have been resurrected (AfricaT/Katana anyone?). Finally, to all those who say it is slow or dull, go ride it but if you do, make damn sure you hold the lap record on type because if you can't outride a bike, you can't say it's slow - it's you that is. But hey, that's me :-)
Great Vid, Great opinion to bring to the Table....Safe Rides Bud
Thanks, you too!
Thats a sweet R7.. Cant wait to see the finished products.
I am working on the fender eliminator now. Will have to scan the brake lever to get the fulcrum designed...these guys made an all bew Brembo master for this bike. Should be done soon with the firs go round and will have the bike back to you. In a few weeks when we get machined prototypes we will need to do another round of fittings and will ask for the bike again. Thanks for helping us out bro.
Great review. How tall are you and what’s your inseam? Thanks!
Its my bike Jake. I'm 5'7 and 30 inseam. It is a regular height sportbike. Just slightly less than Tippy toe at the stoplights.
The gas tank issue, is where tst does their magic
Hahaha. I guess he is using body camera
Having to stress that this isn’t an R6 replacement so much is proof that Yamaha messed up in naming this bike an R7.
Haha.. totally agree with with you mah boi
I don't disagree with this comment BUT I do think the early vloggers and reviewers also contributed to this mess by claiming it was replacing the R6.
lol yeah
No, people are just stupid.
Just shut up with that already man. Those ignorant youtubers and people like you made this name change a big deal for no reason. You think you are smarter than yamaha's engineers ? Of course they thought the name change wouldn't be easy. The 600 class is dead, pointless, and unpractical. The r7 is a real sportbike with practical usage. A lot of people will buy this type of bikes. There is no doubt yamaha is making an r9, too many signs point at that. It will fill the gap between the r7 and r1
Do this r7 have speed modifications?
nice vid!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
When Jesus returns, he'll be sportin' a Yamaha!
Blue team all the way !
They should have just called it the MT07-R or something associated with the MT name. I think the bike is perfect for those looking for something above the lightweight sport bike category (Ninja400 & rc390) without having to jump to more of a weapon like the inline 4 600's (r6, zx6r, etc). The R7 would make an excellent beginner track bike with room to grow and it would perform great at tighter more technical tracks. Pretty sure the R7 was also designed with twin cylinder racing classes in mind as well, so at some point I'm sure we're going to see a bunch of these bikes in full race spec on Moto America.
Europe announced a Yamaha R7 cup so it wouldn't be too farfetched of an idea to think the US-race scene may adopt that cup as well.
The MT line has always been naked streetfighters..So that wouldnt make sense people need to just take the hard swallow and accept the fact this is an R sportbike. Uses R components and has fairings..
@@busboy3232 The R7 is almost entirely based on the MT, minor changes in geometry and plastics isn't enough to convince me its a YZF. The R1 and R6 are true "YZF" bikes, with the R3 being the baby of them all. The R3 and R7 are more closely related than the R1/R6 and R7. That being said, at this point what does it matter what its called, this whole topic has been blown out of proporation and it very well could have been avoided by just calling the R7 something else.
what's the little ball on the left of the triple tree
The was a mount for a phone or camera if I remember correctly.
I’ve ordered this back in May (eta Dec in Australia). Buying it signt unseen and without test riding has me worried because a lot of people complain about ergonomics…since I’m 6’4, all I’ve been hearing is that I’ll be very uncomfortable on it.
The thing about sport bikes is that you have to get them to jive with you ergonomically. I don't remember the last sport bike I bought that I did not do rear sets and clip ons on along with a slew of adjustments to make the bike work with me.
I test rode one last weekend at IMS. I'm only 5'6 and noticed the ergonomics. If you're 6'4, then... yikes... prepare to mod the bike, I guess.
@@ShockTech326 just read your comment, could I ask what your inside leg measures please.
I feel very sorry for your. I'm 6', 180#. I test rode this on a demo day last Friday. I love the suspension upgrade. But even at my height my heels were a couple inches from being inserted in my ass. You'll never be able to go into a full race tuck at your height. I couldn't. And trying to get level with the windscreen my neck was in pain and I looked like a Pez dispenser. It's not worth the money. They should have just made something to compete with the Ninja 650. The front suspension on the R7 is the only thing if note. The Aprilia 660 is not in the price range of the Ninja.
@@Wabbit1961 thank you for your input. It’s a shame, the suspension sounds good and it looks absolutely stunning. I don’t know if I can stretch my budget to the rs660…I’m hearing they’re much more comfortable.
🔥
Is that a phone mount on that triple clamp? Happy to know is it mounted with a M8 bolt? Thx!
Yes it is. They took my mount off for the video.
@@danielaitken7563 thx for the info!
It is actually an M6 bolt, not M8
@@jasonbarbee5199 thanks for saving my money😂
I test rode that at a demo day last Friday. The motor is smoother. The suspension is noticed. Why not on an MT? WTF YAMAHA!
I didn't see you in a full tuck. I'm 6'and I couldn't. You're head/helmet will never tuck under that windscreen.
My heels were a few inches from insertion into my rectum. The bike pushes you into laying on the tank. This is an ab workout because you use your core to hold you up straight enough to look down the road and not just the two feet of road in front of you.
I wouldn't want to do 4 laps on a track with this.
Suspension upgrade isn't worth the money over the ensuing neck and back pain. They should have just faired an MT and competed with the Ninja 650. The only faired 7 is mounted in a torture rack. Good luck with that.
If your 5' - 5'4".... This is the bike for you.
Wait, does this replace the R6?
Hahahahaha
Lol lmao!!!!!
Inline 4 is overrated. I don't know why people mourne the R6 that much while the R7 makes a lot more sense in terms of business for Yamaha itself and practicality for consumers. R7 is obviously a win-win solution.
Used r6 > r7. 8k or less for a used r6 you can find some pretty mint bikes.
Only in US. In other country like Malaysia, brand new R6 around 26k USD and R7 around 12K USD(R7 haven't launch in Malaysia officially but I take Thailand R7 price and convert into Malaysia Ringgit and adding some tax). Even a used 2009 R6 cost around 12K USD.
comparing a used bike to a new bike. improper logic
How are you going to compare a used bike to a new bike in terms of price? What absolute clown logic are you using?
The R7 reincarnation. Not Revival. Same name with new character..
There should be no R6 confusion among those with minimal IQ.
I don't think it comes down to confusion but rather wishful thinking. People who were mournig the loss of the R6 were hoping for something that will replace it. Their disappointment is ringing through their comments.
your going off about the r6 in this video was super obnoxious tho you literally wouldnt stop talking about it and thats why people are commenting on it the most dude.@@TSTindustries
Good video I get the fact this is not R6, Yamaha needs to attract younger buyers or they will go the way of Harley Davidson god forbid.
Harley Can use the Yamaha Engineers and Criticism ...I love the Pan American but, that's an example of pushing their Research & Development and early release....no comparison on the motors , just the push to beat the other guy...Yamaha ...slow and easy....
Too bad the insurance companies rate this as a supersport. The insurance is just as high as a 600 class
Just did an insurance quote as a 22 year old it was cheaper for 21 636…
Completely curious.. what did they quote you i have no idea what insurance would be like.
Save that money and stick to the track. I guess track rubber will cost you more than insurance so you will have to soul search on this topic.
bigger the CC the bigger you pay.
Canada has some of the highest rates in the world..Buy a clapped out R6 for $3500 and your guarantee gonna pay 4-6k a year for insurance if your under 25..25 being the magical number it drops
It’s a MT 07 with fairings. 74bhp twin parallel = kind of boring
Boring = reliable.
To make that comment tells me you are 1) Either an extremely advanced rider, or 2) you haven't spent much time on the track.
74hp is a lot of power for some ppl, most of us can’t even ride the 300cc to the limit lol
Not sure about the value, I think it is overpriced for today's market since there are other bikes out there that is already more powerful, more tech, and already an inline 4 at the price range. I think we're better off waiting for the next version of R7 since this feels like an experimental release to test the waters.
Name three bikes that are better than the r7 in its class. Ninja 650 ? Sucks. CBR 650r ? too heavy and not relatively sporty. RS660 ? The price of a supersport without being a supersport. R7 is my personal choice
@@alexv5581 If you're a track guy yeah but R7 is advertised as a super sports street bike which many other excels in that class not just in comfort but in sounds besides going faster is not the purpose of street bikes.
@@alexv5581 exactly. Not to mention the Aprilia is the closest thing to the r7 but since it’s Italian you’re gonna have the Italian/ European mechanical issues that are gonna be a NIGHTMARE to address and hell for your wallet.
@@Yamabrah_YZF F.I.A.T. comes to mind, Fix It Again Tony
Love tst industries.. but not liking this bike.. Definitely not a sports bike
look badass but hate that v2...it sounds like shit
Oh my god it sounds like shit I’m pissed way off.
It sounds amazing with an Aftermarket exhaust
Uhhh....it definitely DOES NOT have the same dash as the R1. The R1 has a full color TFT dash with menus....the R7 has a basic black and white static LCD dash. Not even comparable with each other. I love your videos...but that is an extremely basic mistake and not sure how it made it into this video.
The statement was, the dash is the same but the display and display area are different. That is true.
You forgot to say thanks for giving us his expert opinion on it he’s doing us a very nice favor clown
