I've had my Gsx-R 750 over 5 years
Ridden over 28,000 miles.
It definitely still challenges me.
If you need a LOOOOOOOONG term review assessment for that bike,
I'll set my 750 on stands and use the Y-7 you have,
Minimum 5 days a week 🥰
Hey Yam, do you deliver this bike to europe?
Yammie dude plz I wanna see what you think of the Honda 2013 n up cb1100! Maybe a retro episode with big 4
You should do an R7 vs R3 as a "beginner bike" comparison in 2021
Someone pinned me as yammie noób is that you @yammie noob
This is the bike the people needed but never knew they wanted. This thing is going to sell like crazy.
THEY could never replace the R1 i have both an R1 and R6 and honestly R7 is going to be the next best track bike
It already is xD
I was never interested in the r7 but that’s me, I like super fast bikes and to me this is Yamaha’s beginner bike because too many kids keep dying on the 600s, i would 100% drive it but I wouldn’t buy one just because I’m into crazy fast bikes and this isn’t crazy fast
I think the R7 is a much better version of the already known suzuki sv650s
@No_Name that's what people buy the Ninja 650 for. The R7 is already flying off the shelves.
My son bought one and it doesn't disappoint. It does everything Yamaha intended it do. This concept is misunderstood by most, but if you're an entry level rider and dont want a used R6 with a body count, this is for you.
Overdramatic

This bike just makes me excited to see if they actually do an R9. CP3 engine in a faired R series bike would be a blast
Ain't CP3 engine just a standard inline 3 that most of the motorcycle use?
Or it's a T plane inline 3?
lol... they already did a tourer with the tracer 900 bro...
@@pinospin9588 nope just a regular Ole triple. triumphs the only brand that does the T plane triples
They call it a cross plane but in reality it just a normal 3 cylinder. Only the CP2 and CP4 are actual cross plane crankshafts
If they did I would definitely be looking into one to replace my current bike
"usable power" that's what 90% of riders don't get. Is it going to win you roll races down the highway? No.
Is it going to be a blast at legal speeds, canyons, and the track? Yes.
this. same applies to cars, its why i drive a brz lol.
Is rolling racing not 'using' the power? Legal or not, if that's how someone gets use out of their bike, you nor anyone else has any place to say otherwise...
The R7 is 'slow' (context), and you are pretty much left asking for more power if you want to ring it out at all...
@@TheDankh r7 wins against a r6 at a redlight dig dragrace even tho the r6 has 50hp more because the r6 is a 2cylinde ris way more torque and you need rpm on an r6 to get it going, so the r6 would have to gave like 30mph to even start pulling
@@supertreme5559 Regardless of bike vs bike... so you don't know what a roll race is, or the term ring it out?
@@TheDankh from zero mph up to the speedlimit the r7 crushes the r6
Kinda had my doubts after seeing several OTHER RUclipsrs bashing and throwing off on this bike. “It’s not an R6. It’s not like the CBR600RR. It’s not...”. Well DUH!! I’m feeling MUCH better and confident about the R7 after being ‘Yammie Aproved’. 👍
Those dudes are so bias it makes no since, any RUclipsr that only street rides a liter bike is going to shit on this bike because it doesn’t go 200
@@Motoplugg *sense
I rode a 2001 R6 for 10 years (bought new). This was after 8 years riding experience including cutting my teeth on Palomar mt in SoCal on an Interceptor 500. The R6 was a great bike, but very difficult to ride. Not unmanageable, but certainly not something I would have recommended for a novice rider. Required too much high RPM engine time to get power, required clutch slipping from dead stops to get it going due to low torque, required a delicate right hand, and in general, was a nervous twitchy bitch! That being said, at track speeds it was amazing. The faster it went the better it got. It would willingly rev to redline through all gears and happily pulled me to 160 (indicated) on the track and got my knee down. This was all in stock form.
Would I buy another one? Maybe. Would I ever recommend any 600 from about 2000 onwards to a new rider? Never.
The R7 is, based on what I'm seeing, a great intermediate and above rider's bike. Not a beginner rider. Too fast, too much power. But it seems like a great slide in for what 600s used to be; manageable street bikes for the everyman. In the 2000s, that definition lost out to the battle for track supremacy and the consumer got left behind. Thankfully, manufacturers are realizing this and meeting consumer needs vs just their racing teams. I'm sure that in time, the R7 will end up in the same realm as the R6 - too much for an average rider. Until then, go for it and forget what people say. YOU are the one riding it.
As for me, I'm content on my 2016 Thruxton R. 600cc HP and 1000cc torque. Fun for days.
Hi from Korea. Bought r7 2days ago can't w8 to get this bike next week
Finally a RUclipsr that is making sense. I used to be kind of annoyed by Yammienoob, but after doing 15 trackdays this year, I realize all the older youtubers I used to watch have zero fucking clue what they are talking about. C2W, Motonosity,650ib- they all dont know what the fuck they are talking about. Yammie is at least 95% accurate, the other 5% is some of the opinion based stuff, but at least he is saying what needs to be said.
Couldn't agree more 👏
Only reason i dont trust yammie is that he hates honda
For the people who want a sport bike as a first bike to ride the street, this is perfect. For the advanced track rider who wants a toy to thrash at the track, this is perfect.
Yamaha has done something amazing.
" Beautiful engines with unarguable pricing "
That's why yamaha is an emotion and
Once a wise man said " buy a yamaha and forget your girlfriend"
One thing missing on a bike like this is the capacity for "get away from anything speed". On a motorcycle it sure is a nice thing to have in the bag in case you need it.
It's a safety feature to be honest. The ability to accelerate away to separate yourself from people who have no business driving is huge. I use it daily
Amen to that.....use it almost everytime I ride, drivers are so bad
Gotta say I agree as well. I figure I'd rather explain a ticket for 10 over than have someone rear end me and possibly kill me.
@@ExclusivelyEsox 10 over? lmfao

Good job on choosing this bike it is really a delicious offering from Yamaha. You know, no intimidating button clusters just a key throttle clutch and two brakes I say biking the way it's supposed to be 👍
Amazing. I’m a cruiser guy but you gotta give props where due. Well done.
I was lucky enough to buy two of these bikes from Lonestar Yamaha in Irving, TX back in August. I went from a R3 to a R7, and have no regrets. The R7 is the perfect transition bike for new riders like myself. Also, the dealer showed me a sub menu on the display by holding down SEL and turning the the key to the power on position. There are a few things you can adjust in that menu, like the shift RPM etc. Also had a quick shifter installed, I figured for the price, why not? I am looking forward to what more Yamaha has planned for this bike. Great bike!!!
happy for you bro ! i’m looking to get one soon myself
I just booked mine tonight new R7 - will collect on May 3rd - my 45th bday :) wife doesnt know yet. its a beauty. will be my first time to have a super bike (in my world its a superbike). currently im on a 1983 SR 500 - so i am looking forward to experiencing the old and the new..

Calling it right now! Lol
I have absolutely no doubt getting my hands on an R7 will be miserable. Just looking at PS5 levels of difficulty. Yam only got his hands on one because he has such a good relationship with his dealer buying a new bike every few months.
The "Tenere Experience" I'm sure.
It won’t be that hard
People were buying game consoles in bulk to purposely make them be out of stock so they could resell at higher price
Nobody is gonna do that with motorcycles
@@Jb-qx7mj the difference is motorcycles are a lot harder to produce and in a lot smaller supply
There’s three arriving at my local dealer in December and they’re all already spoken for
The crf300l and the klx300(sm) are also spoken for since last may into next year
@@Jb-qx7mj Clearly you didn't want a Tenere 700. Took over a year to get mine and they're still very hard to get. The chip shortages and covid overall has made getting these in people's hands tough. It's made worse as, like the T7, these are a fairly new take(so to speak) and special bikes at a REALLY reasonable price. Huge demand, limited supply.
Yams, thanks for this video. I've watched a dozen R7 vids and after watching yours i finally understand what this bike is and how it fits the market.
Follow your heart
Awesome review! Love the direct honesty. I’ve already put down a downpayment for one of the World GP 60th Anniversary Limited Editions, because I was to progress to a sport bike. I’m also completely aware that 99% of my riding will be city commutes and weekend twisties. So I think this will be perfect for me.
Still, you’re going to get the over compensating horsepower is everything boys in the comments lol
From what i've understood ninja650 and Aprilia rs660 is way better choice for that city commuting. The ergos on r7 are way closer to r6 than mt-07. For weekend twisties r7 is going to be a fun bike but if you do all your commuting on bike it might not be the best choice. Allthought engine is propably way more fun than the kawa650 and then the Aprilia rs660 is WAAAAY more expensive.
@@getty6974 not as bad as you think. I’ve put 4500 miles in 2 months and it’s my main commuter. First ride right when I got it I rode to San Jose from LA (400 miles) for MotoAmerica at Laguna Seca and honestly sucked on stock settings. But when I got back I adjusted my bars and suspension and levers and all the ergonomics to me and now it is a beautiful ride. No pain. Even did a 160mile trip to the desert and had no problems. It’s an amazing bike.
I have a request to make:
If possible, get a CBR650 & a RS660 and compare all 3 of them in a video.
Thanx Yammie
I’m interested to know how the 4 cylinder compares to this twin
Yamie never mentions the CBR, he must hold it in really low regard. Just googled it apparently it has 94hp (copied and pasted below), it should be smoking these bikes
CBR650R 70 kW (94 hp) at 12,000 rpm
I just bought a cbr650r bcs the cbr is a lot faster then the r7. And once above 8000rp the cbr is a beast and at lower rpm it is perfect for road use. The r7 is better if you are not planning to use the cbr in the 8000 and 12000rpm range.
The r7 pulls in every gear on every rpm the cbr is more like drop a gear and disappear. I was considering an r7 and a cbr650r and i think i made the right choise. But it is personal, how you want to use your bike.
Comparing inline 4's to parallel twins only makes sense if you've never ridden either one
@@williamdavis4809 the reason I wanted a comparison was the target market for the CBR, the 660 and the r7 is the same
Thank you Yammie Noob, have been debating about swopping the R1 for the R7 and after watching your video convinced it is a good idea. thanks again for your video
I have always loved all bikes. If it runs on two wheels, I dig it. I’ve always ridden cruisers. Currently have an ‘04 Softail Standard that I love and will never part with. But I have been looking for a sportier bike just for a different riding experience. This thing might be right up my alley.
My r3 2021 is incredible don’t let other ppl say bigger bikes are needed my r3 hits 115mph
R7 looks really nice ❤
Do you recommend R3 or R6 for beginners?

Love my new R7. Just started riding. I'm still learning but this bike makes it so fun to learn!
These new bikes look pretty good, but I still haven't found anything beats a CBR 600f4i. It's got great ergos, usable torque, super reliable and dirt cheap, and it will still smoke any of these bikes and has that inline 4 sound too. Just perfect.
you sir... need to ride a vfr800!
Maybe we'll get one for a modern classic giveaway
That what you think, and not all man think the same way like you did. Just give it a try, then tell what you think, what you feel about the bike.

Yeah but sure isn’t the best looking thing out there. Standard inline 4 sound we all love. Essentially a cbr600rr or r6 without the spice
Bro I went to RideNow Austin and the only R7 that I saw there was propped up on a trolly ready to be wheeled out to a customer. Also, there were no MT's on the floor either! Yamaha is out here killing it.
But as far as I know all the Japanese bikes sell well isn't it ? Especially honda , yamaha and kawasaki . 🤷
@@10daysAgo how about Suzuki
They may be doing well but, the lack of inventory isn't from killer sales, it's from a very limited supply chain. A buddy of mine works at RideNow and he is constantly complaining that they can't get any inventory to sell.
Thank god, finally someone else smart on the road and honest!
Personally im proud of you yammie, been watching since r3 days, street rossi days and now close to 1 mil subs, how much you have changed as a better individual.
That been said, im curious if the r7 fairings help it to be faster than mt07 in any way?
This is a good BEGINNER bike. They took a intermediate/expert bike away and gave us a beginner one. That's why people hate it.
The number of people hating is way less than the number of people buying the r7 . Yamaha is not stupid enough to discontinue a iconic bike and make a loss . They studied the bike market very well . Pinpoint business tactics . Well done yamaha 🔥
Alright. Definitely making my first bike a Yamaha. Bout to follow in the legends footsteps🙌🏼

I have a 2020 R6 and I would be very sad if I had to ride the R7. Sad indeed. And the B mode on the R6 is super nice in the city. I'm just in love with the R6. And it sucks.
Will you ever do a first ride review where it's actually your first ride (somewhat)? As in haven't ridden enough to form opinions and impressions before giving your review?
Great point. Why not start at the garage/dealership? Think on your feet people
Rt..
Yadda, yadda, yadda. Bestest, fastest, mostest. Who cares? The fact that ANY person becomes a new rider and buys their first bike to get started, new or preowned, regardles of model or make, is a win for all of us. I don't give a wink if one 650 is 0.05 seconds faster than another from 0-60. I do care if it's a couple $Gs less expensive though!
Perfect bike for street riding. It's like a modern equivalent to the sv650s
I have a ‘09 sv650s… and I was thinking this is the best modern “update” for that kind of bike… maybe even my next purchase 😎🏍

Id be really interested to see what you think about the R7 vs the CBR-650R.
Yes pls. My next bike is btw these two ATM.
Currently have an R3 and that is the total of my road bike experience. Thus why I'd like to see the comparison from more experienced riders. Here in OZ the price of the 2 is pretty close. Both look awesome. So these are comparative bikes. But clearly the engine type is a major difference. I think it's an interesting comparison.
@@Unicorn-sd9xp as someone that came from an R3 and it being my favorite bike, but also having ridden an R6, it’s worth it. I’ve put 4500 miles on my R7 in 2 months and it’s now my new favorite bike and I love it. Has everything you need and want in a bike for the street. If you want a screamer where your power only comes in at 10k+ RPMs then don’t get this bike. It’s honestly a glorified more powerful R3 lol
@zx10rheader There just flat out is, everything about the R7 is better than the R3. Just test ride it.
@@Unicorn-sd9xp If you like to rev the bike out and need the extra ponies for those long distance miles, it's the CBR. If you really like an R3 but would like all the mods like better brakes, suspension more power torque etc etc and don't care about top end, get the R7.
Really would like to see a direct comparison vs the cbr650r either on the street or on the track.
Cbr650 makes a lot more power.. which is not important to a lot of people…This thing is pretending to be something it’s not.
CBR650R smokes the R7 because its the same story as the CB650R and the MT07, better built, better quality, heavier but makes a lot more power, MT07 makes a bit more torque down low, but anything above that, the 650R takes the W
@@neoretroguy4488 I’ve heard people saying mt 07 is faster in twisties and some racetracks
Feel it Should be compared with Kawasaki Ninja 650 than CBR650R which is an inline four.
@@JC-nx5xx The ninja 650 ergonomics, suspension, chassis, ect are all not comparable at all to the R7. Theres nothing about the ninja 650 that makes it feel like a good hybrid of street and track bike. It’s a sporty commuter bike and that’s all. Whereas the cbr650r is a little more aggressive, better equipped for hard riding, and is overall a better competitor against the R7. Having a 4cyl doesn’t change that. The cbr650r engine is also designed to make its power a bit lower in the rev range making it more accessible compared to the engines in your 600 super sports. There’s more to a bike than just the number of cylinders it has.
Finally! Someone saying all the things I suspected. Been trying to talk a friend into getting one, and every comment has talked trash about it. This is the video I need him to see.

Got a 2024 as my first bike and safe to say i love it
I'm so excited if this bike is any indicator of what we have to look forward to in 2022.
There have been countless bikes that can do what this "new" Yamaha does... and that do it better.
Companies need to start throwing you some testing opportunities because the first thing I do when I start looking at a new bike to get I check to see if it has the yammie stamp of approval 😂 you have me sold. I'm down to this, the XSR900, and a Bonneville. I know they're crazy different but I like motorcycles of all kinds so it's hard to choose. You have a video for all these bikes! You've sold me on ball shavers, phone stands, and bikes. Pretty much the only RUclips channel that has actually gotten me to buy anything! Love your channel!
Just when I thought I was set on a 3rd gen SV650, this thing comes along.
SV650 no way 😳 the R7 or the MT07 is the way to go
It’s a shame all these people are hating on the R7 and mt-07. First off 90% of these people don’t ride or have never ridden a CP2 platform. The bike is not boring at all. It brings constant fun despite lacking power it makes up for it with its torque. Not to mention it’s arguably one of the meanest sounding high 600 to low 700cc bikes. Y’all are just a bunch of haters.
I wish they came out with this a long time ago! I would of got this as my first bike over a 600!
I’m considering moving up from my 2017 R3 to this soon
As a CP2-powered motorcycle owner (Tracer 700) I really recommend you to install a complete Akrapovic Titanium exhaust. If it fits the R7 of course. And then take the dB killer off. Thank me later 🙂
Bought the tracer 7 this year, seriously underestimated bike.the only thing I don't like from the factory is the windscreen.
yoshimura R-77
Making unnecessary noise is childish
Frank you should rename yourself to Karen because clearly you don’t know how to have fun with life. You’re on a biker channel, get real dude.
Almost 700cc is not a beginners bike. My 16 year old grandson was interested in starting out on a 600cc bike i talked him out of it. He has a Hyosung GD 250. He loves it. It is a Korean bike and isn't over powering. Good beginners bike.
@pınņed by Yammıé nóôb I have been selected?
I'd like to know how does it feel against CBR 650R. I think they are really close competitors as watered down racers.
The performance envelope of a 1985 ZX600R with better handling/brakes...what sport riders have needed for many years.
Speaking from the heart; I love this review and I'm in love with this bike! Wonderful details. How does it handle on the highways, wind resistance, weight, stability? I'm 5'10" about 135-150 lbs. Will this bike keep me sturdy on the open road around big trucks? I currently ride around on a 2009 Ninja 250R and it does need a bit more weight. Thank you again, have a good life!
I've never riden this bike but I have a ninja 400. The bike is about 366 wet and people say that I will get blown around a lot on the highway and I should get a 650 for the highway. The 400 seems perfectly fine. I'm commute at about 80 mph everyday for near 30 mins when it is warm enough to ride and there are lots of trucks on my highway. I've never felt a wind blast from them. It feels the same with them there or not. And I don't get blown around too much. So with the r7 being heavier you should be perfectly fine. Oh and I got a Corsa wind screen for my n400 to make driving at 80mph feel more comfortable and it works wonders without making it look like a dad bike.
Be interesting to see if Triumph puts out a Daytona with the Trident 660 motor. Then you could compare a P2 yamaha, with a triumph triple, and a Honda I4.
They're more likely to put a half fairing on a trident, like with the new 1200 thing. That's more of triumphs thing these days
@@dennisclark9544 I wouldn't lament that but the 660 motor isn't nearly as good as the the other triumph triples, I don't think it needs more power, just a kick up the back side and a tickle here and there.
All I wanted was a good 600cc ish bike as my first bike but I became an absolute squid after watching this I gotta buy something like this
An R6 was to uncomfortable but this is perfect
The only bike I may buy over this is a RS660
I cant wait to see what the other three of the big four are gonna answer with. Yamaha has set the bar for the entry level/commuter/track noob rider with this platform. Great review. So excited for the future of riding.
Other companies have had these styles bikes for literally decades. And Yamaha has as well. You just don't rember.
Fair up an Sv650
You mean like an SV650S that has been around literally over 20 years?
Ive ridden a R6 for 2,5 years until 2020. From that point i sold it to make some professional steps, and now i am considering to buy a new R7. I am kinda afraid that i will be slightly underwhelmed, even though i wasnt the guy that would get the most out of the R6 i could.
Yamaha won't cut Papa Yam any checks (cuz he cuts then checks 🤣) but he's doing a better job selling them than any other RUclips channel I've seen, even the ones who were actually sponsored to sell the R7.

Don't care what anyone says, a parallel twin will always sound more like a dirtbike than a sportbike.
This may be more practical in every way over an R6 but nobody is turning their head hearing this thing come down the road
I totally agree and it’s heartbreaking honestly. Visually will turn heads but by the time they look at you, you’ll be cruising by with them thinking “wow that was a quiet R6” 😂
Cp2 with a full system sounds like an r1 that doesn’t rev as high. This is the best sounding twin out now.
@@richardturner7560 No, the Aprilia RS 660 sounds better.
@@ricsim78 they honestly both sound similar but I like the growl of the uneven firing of the cross plane cp2. It’s just my opinion though. The aprilia is the better bike if you have deep pockets for the bike itself and maintenance/ expensive Italian parts.

I like the both the RS 660 and the R7, thinking of upgrading to one or the other, so trying to weigh my options. One costs more, but sounds like it would be the better bike, but the other is a better value. If the R7 did not have that center headlight, I would likely pick it as my choice. I do like the RS 660 more, but it is also about 25+ more expensive out the door. The fact I can get a ZX6R for less than the Aprilia kind of hurts it as well.
My main concern is for the R7 insurance, sounds expensive to insure (but I am 43, good record), so that may help immensely.
This is probably one of those rare channels where people throw their leg around a sport bike without complaining about the discomfort....i mean come on! according to me there are two iconic middle weight sports bikes in the modern era...the daytona and the r6! period! the low price makes this bike so accessible and i love that and yes one can fit an optional quick shifter too which is great! overall i love this bike and i hope unlike the r6 this makes it to my country. the only mystery that remains is how much mods one can make to the engine to make the performance more aggressive!
NEVER ride behind a dump truck. especially THAT close. 😳

Can't wait till the rc990
The first 48 seconds is exactly my point on why I don’t like bikes like this. And prefer rsv4 and r1. When he saw the Countach he was excited. The Countach is way too much car for the road but you know it’s more fun than a Mr2. Same with bikes
I know where you are going with this but I sort of disagree though. If you are skilled enough to ride RSV4 and R1 to the fullest, R7 is not for your kind of riders anyways. I've seen a lot of clips of people riding fast bikes but what most will do is just speeding on a street going straight line. If you are riding at the track and being passed by bunch of people with smaller displacement bikes, you are not skilled enough for that bike. Most people won't drive Countach at the track but people with MR2 does and as a person who've been tracking cars for years I've seen plenty of people with big ego and hp get their ass handed to them by S2Ks and Miatas. Same with the bikes.
@@kkmaxg8543 totally agree. The guy with the clapped 90s JDM sports car can clap basically anyone on track because they know how to use it. If I were going to buy a track bike, I’d get something low HP just because when you ain’t going Mach Jesus on the straights you actually have time to think.
And on the issue of the Countach: I love that car and yet I’d still buy a combined 10-15 cars for that money and let them be as disposable as tp. Or I’d drive the piss out of the Countach and make all the purists mad 🤷♂️
@@kkmaxg8543 yea there are people who don’t know how to ride that just speed but they will continue to buy fast bikes anyway no matter whether there’s r7/rs660s or not. I grew up on racing atvs and then dirt bikes. First street bike was a gsxr600. I actually think 600/750 are the best supersports for the street but they are so old tech or discontinued. So unless Kawasaki updated zx-6r or Yamaha comes out with the r9. My money next year is going to the rsv4
@@jeffd694 Yup, I've already seen a dude with only 2 months of ride experience buying a Ducati Panigale V4 just because he can. Anyways It's sad to see how motorcycle market is changing with these new emission laws but it is what it is and most companies won't spend anymore money on already declining market I guess. I'm fairly new to riding bikes but after test rode 300cc to liter sport bikes including RSV4, I settled with CBR650R just because it has enough power to have fun around twisted road at my level without sacrificing my back. I also got great deal for it too. I really like R6 and ZX6R though.
the most anticipated motorcycles of 2021 until people that had been riding and not new riders found out this nothing like a real R7 it's a 2 cylinder with 689cc sounds like a great beginner bike
I’ll be interested to watch the R7 vs Supersport on track video. I’m thinking that on a smaller track (2 mile circuit or less), the gap between the R7 and a 600 wouldn’t be that large because the 600 won’t be able to use its top end to the same degree that it would on a large track like COTA or even Eagles Canyon. A place like Harris Hill, I bet the R7 might be nipping at its heels, though I still expect the 600 to be a little bit quicker.
On the smaller track, you'd just leave the 600 in a lower gear, high in the rev range and in its power band. They're happy to sit like that all day, they won't blow up from being super high in the revs for a long time. Smaller track, the r6 would still win by a mile.
Please share your drugs...
Have 2K miles on my R7; Great bike for commuting & backroads, solid power, handles great.
How upright is it? Do you end up riding sitting up with one hand most the time?
That's why I won't get one . Everyone and there mother will have one kawasaki 636 still a way better bike for price . Yammie you still agree after riding r7 ??
You care if a lot of people have the bike you ride? Who do you think you are?
Funny I locked in the only MT-07 available in my state a month ago before the dealership even received it in shipment. Yamaha directed me to them cuz THEY(Yamaha) knew that this dealer was receiving a new MT-07. Had to travel 200 miles to sign for it and pick it up. WORTH IT! Haha
I'd love to see a technical comparison of all of the 7 series bikes (MT, XSR, and YZF). I'm torn between all three
Go ride em, should make the choice easy
Get the XSR. Don't look back. Ooh, and go for the 900 while ur at it so you aren't disappointed after a few weeks of riding.
It depends on what you want. You wanna do wheelies 24/7? Get the MT. Are you into retro stuff? Get the XSR. Or you wanna ride fast and look like a racer? Get the YZF. It's as simple as that

its a good looking bike. id love to take one for a spin and see how it feels. but, those fluid reservoirs are in unsighly locations. front one is huge and looks like it can get in the way of the gauging and the rear one seems unnecessarily high on the tail.

Put on a healtech quickshifter. I put one on my FZ07, and it made it feel even cooler and sounded like a mini super bike. Plus little bitty power wheelies from up shifting where gratifying, but not at all dangerous.

Had a dude who was arguing to buy an R6 for his first track bike after a few years of riding. I told him my regrets from buying a zx6r and building it for track(I have around 20 years of mixed riding dirt and road) I was not prepared for that bike, I am getting something like this for next years track season. There’s a reason people move up to 600’s and 1000’s.
Waiting to see what EICMA brings us, hoping for a zx7 analogue for this bike.

I want one!
First comment on the first comment!
Awesome review, was looking for the perfect street bike and you nailed it here with this review, thank you! Earned a sub !
A side by side comparison to the Ninja 650 would be much appreciated!!!
I'd be interested in what Yam has to say there, but having ridden a ninja 650 and an MT07 and Tenere 700, the CP2 is a way better engine. Miles better. Sounds better, more power and torque. By the review here, I have to guess the R7 straight up spanks it.
@@Wintersdark it also cost 2000 dollars more for like 3 hp. The Ninja actually has more torque
@@patq1924 64NM @ 6700rpm for the 650, vs 67NM @ 6500rpm for the R7. R7 has more horsepower(5hp, significant at that level), and more peak torque.
The CP2 is just a much better feeling motor, too. That CP2 is special.
The R7 also offers a MUCH better suspension, and is fully adjustable vs only adjustable preload on the rear of the 650. If you want to ride them hard, you're gonna lose that 2k overhauling the Ninja's suspension.
The 650 is a good bike, and a killer value for sure, but the R7 is simply *better*. For sure though it depends on your budget, much like comparing a Tenere 700 (more budget) vs a KTM 890Adv (more power, better suspension, more spendy).
That ending outro with the different yammie pitches is going to give me nightmares. Great video anyway lol
Ninja 650 and Z650 aren't really even competitors. They are just big beginner bikes, good for heavier and larger beginner riders as opposed to something like the ninja400. The R7 is an intermediate bike with lots of potential to grow with.

As an owner of R6 It's sad to say it but i totally agree that R7 its better bike for the consumers.
the R6 is overkill for road usage and is too much bike to use it safely on public roads.
The YAMAHA make a good beginner super sport bike and also a good dayli bike for a more experience rider.
Yes of course, if you compare only the power the R6 will disappear from the field of view of R7 but power isn't everything... R6 have too much power for public roads, imagine i can't even go to red line at my 3rd gear cuz I'm already going 200km/h.....
You've convinced me. I'm getting one.

It’s Yamaha’s twins cup racing bike for the masses.
Twins are sweet to ride.
After owning a cbr600rr and then going to a 959 panigale, I thought I'd made a mistake, just because it had a tractor like feel compared to the super smooth 600, but once you get used to them at low speed and find out how great they are once higher up the rev range they are, I just don't think I'll ever go back to an inline 4 again.
@@pnnedbyyammenoob7890 I'm in the UK dude.
So true bro. That's how i feel too.
There's a hell lot of difference between a 959 ducati twin and a mt07 twin😂

Like you said Yammie, the R7 is a response to the market where people want something with a bit more grunt than a Ninja 650 at a close price point. However, if Kawasaki debuts a ZX7R at EICMA in November, everyone that wanted an R6 is going to get what they want in the ZX7R, especially if Kawasaki can keep the price close to the ZX6R. So I don't see how Yamaha wins on all fronts. (edit for sPeliNg)
the fact that they gave the r15 which has like 17 HP TC but not the r7 is slightly concerning

I’ve heard the R3 is even wider than the R7. Not sure how I feel about that, do you think it feels too thin?
