    IMHO: Speed is great when it comes to riding, but having the ability to use a bike to its full potential (on the street) is much more satisfying than riding a fast bike slow. Yamaha did their research, I think this will be a knockout in sales.

    I've always wanted an R6 due to the looks but didn't want all the unusable power on the street and the super aggressive riding position. So then I started leaning towards an MT-07 because of the useable power from it's torquey parallel twin but was undecided on the naked look. Seems like Yamaha has answered my prayers with the new R7. I'll definitely be picking one of these up in blue.

    The SV650 with fairings was probably the best bike that an amateur track rider with a small budget could buy…. Until now.
    I think that this bike is a great place for the weekend warrior with a desk job to be able to live out his fantasy of being a racer without needing the budget to maintain a high strung super sport. The engine a proven reliable platform that won’t require a factory support team to keep running. It won’t eat through 3 sets of tires every race weekend. The price brand new is less than an 8 year old 600 super sport…. In short, if you’re on a budget, this is the best ticket to track days and I bet you’ll have just as big a smile on your face as the guy that blew three times as much as his setup.
    In 3 years, you won’t be able to go to a single track day in the country without seeing dozens of these. I think it’s a win for Yamaha, at the expense of pissing off the super sport purists.

Been riding a TL1000R on the street, and on more track days than I can recall. I don't mind coming down to a middleweight bike at all. I have a blue one secured out of the few preorder units that sold out after 8 hours of going live on the Yamaha website. Yamaha called me and I got info on shipment being the first half of June. Its gonna be hard to wait.

    I don't understand, how did they design a bike where the instrument cluster is obscured by the brake lines? I'm sure that mechanically, the bike is excellent, but the only way this made it past the design stage was because this is a parts-bin bike that they glued together as a stopgap.

    Not fully convinced on the price. They did an awful lot of cost savings to end up $400 cheaper than the new MT-09 that has both more power and more tech. Only $1000 cheaper than ZX-6R, (a REAL supersport). It's like $1400 more than the MT-07. $1400 for some plastic and slightly better brakes and suspenders? $8499 would have been more reasonable. people who want a zx6r will not be looking at a r7. Just like people who want an r6 will not be looking at an r7. R7 is for a different type of rider. Quite frankly the bike will sell a boatload on looks alone. Then people will realize how much more useable it is on the streets, and sell even more. I always have to wonder if fear of not being invited to future pre release mfg events like this influences what these review outlets say.
    I had to LOL @12:30 when he says "Crack the throttle open", watch him twist it, and the bike doesnt really do anything.
    That said all I need to know, bike is too down on power for me.

    The sound of the motor is a preference... Some people like the twin some like inline 4... You can scream with an inline 4 and get smoked by a car... Sound is cool but doesn’t really mean shit... The HP and Torque are what matter at the end of the day not so much the sound. To each their own tho! I love the inline 4 sound myself better but I’m probably going to get an R7 when they hit the dealerships near me. Cool bike!

    I had an FZ-07 as my first bike and I tracked it a few times. Its a really fun bike the 700 is a good motor and the FZ07 would cut threw the corners with ease. this would be a great bike for the track if you don't care about how fast you can go on the straight. But its no 600 the power difference is 70 to the 100-130 on any 600. But a good rider at the track will be killing it at the track heck guys on 300's can be running times just as fast as most.

    Great review and rundown of the bike. I'm surprised you liked the brakes so much. A lot of the other reviewers are saying their good but are pretty wooden and don't have much feel. I'm not sure why you would think this bike would be the same price as an R6, the performance is a ton lower and no one would have bought it. Glad it's priced correctly for what it is. Cool looking little bike.

    • @animationcycles7109
      @animationcycles7109 3 года назад

      @@kleinbottled79 it's the pedigree behind the name. It can be an XJ-07R, or MT07-R.... but it isn't "R7" racing bloodline/lineage. At BEST, it is an official Yamaha racing MT07. With a horrible name change. I guess even bikes are getting into " I associate as a..." movement now.

    I love this bike it is exactly what I am looking for. I wanna start riding sport bikes and there is a very good track just half an hour away from me but there was no bike like this in the market. I own a wr250x atm and going to an r6 or other inline4's was never the way for me. I mean going from 25hp to over 100 seemed to much and I am not able to use that power at all . the only other option would be and ktm rc390 or kawa400 but yea I'm really tall with 6'4 height and these bikes are a lil bit to small. I have the same feeling with the r7 tbh because I won't fit on a MT 07 but hell ima try it out 100%. maybe it works with wider bars and different rear sets. fingers crossed

      @Scott Summers I don't think so. here in my country bikes with high potential to crash are more expensive to insure & r6 is prime example for big blue ball muscle heads who wanna impress their grandmother while reving up first gear in a 30 zone inner city. also HP/ general motor size playes a huge role too.
