Beautiful bike. No replacement for the screaming R6 though 😭
right
Agreed
💯
Yeah but it was also not meant for a replacement
Its not a replacement
People wanted a cheaper bike, Yamaha makes them a cheaper bike, then people complain it’s not the same as an r6....
I've won but at what cost?
You all say it’s not a worthy replacement for the R6 but I wonder hoy many of you were going to buy an R6. This bike will sell like crazy, I for sure want one.
You can still buy a lot faster and more comfortable bikes. I don't get the market for this
@@TheMrProboscis To fill the gap for people that want the FEEL and the LOOKS of a super sport, but at a LOWER COST and with ACCESSIBLE POWER down low for non-track/city use. You can't fully enjoy an R6 without breaking the laws, so why pay extra? People were not paying extra and buying the R6, so here you go.
You know, I took some time to look at the spec sheet for the R7 as well as the R6, and I don't know why people keep assuming that this is the replacement for the R6. If Yamaha wanted to replace the R6, they certainly would not give it an inline twin with almost 40% less power. Seriously... it is called the R7 not the R6. However, the last generation R7 which ceased production in 2002 made about 105 horsepower along with 53 ft. lbs of torque, so I can see how people are wondering why this does not make as much power as the previous generation. This is mostly likely called the R7 because of its relationship to the MT-07 which conforms to Yamaha's naming system. Additionally, Yamaha also patented model numbers R1-R9 so if the trend holds true, there may be an R9 with the CP3 engine that is found in the MT-09 which would be absolutely amazing. The 600cc class from what I am hearing is kind of a dying breed because of rise of inline twins that have similar displacement and are more efficient. In light of this, Yamaha is still making a track-only R6. Lastly, the CP3 engine, an 890cc 3-cylinder engine, makes 115 horsepower and 65 ft. lbs of torque, so this would be a great successor to the R6 which made 117 horsepower and 46 ft. lbs of torque. With that in mind, the CP3 engine would have a much more usable powerband without revving the bike to the moon to get the power. Hopefully, this sheds some light on this topic and people will see this bike as the sporty sibling to the MT-07 and not the successor to the R6, the R6 is a completely different bike...
💯
Hilarious light in the middle. Also, why not just use the MT-09 engine to make the R9 with a triple instead?
Couldn't agree more. A 2-cyl Sport??? What were they smoking?
They needed a sport bike to bridge the gap between the R3 and R1 since killing off the R6
@@paramjotsingh26 they were smoking the right stuff because while 4 cylinders are great on track, they tend to be ass on the street where most bikes spend 95% of there time. this engine sounds amazing (imo better than most inline 4s) and has more power than the r6 below 10,000rpm. the r7 will out perform the r6 on the street. no doubt
@@lukahomersham9826 My R6 did fine on the street.
@@myname9252 and this R7 will make mince meat out of the r6 on the street
Thanks Alex for taking me out from under the rock. lol Hope your ride was super safe and fun. Looking forward to that. And yes, the headlight does seem to be understated.
The most important thing is that this will be very reliable and priced so people can actually afford to buy one.
Not everyone has 10K plus to spend on a new bike.
Agree
This bike makes me think R3 is a lot of bike for $5300.
People are better off buying a 2000 gsxr600 for 1200$... any 95 to 2000 600 class sort bike for 1000$ will be a better tack and street bike...
This r7 shit is just that: shit
Not everyone wants to buy a trashed 600 for their daily ride. I want a bike I can be proud to own and enjoy riding on roads. Not buying a 20 year old rusting 600 that I'll never get to use on public roads and spend half my free time fixing.
@@180FiftyFive thats right bro👍
I bet 99% of you complaining about the power output of the r7 couldn't even ride it to its limits. I think its a smart move by yamaha. People have been putting fz/mt07s on track since they came out and personally I'm excited that its coming factory with better brakes, suspension, and bodywork. Plus not everyone is willing to shell out $12k for a damn 600
Alex - channel is progressing, love it. Keep the reviews, sneak peek, previews, long term, track days, etc. coming. Great job!
Ok, I see this bike is getting a lot of press. Honestly I think it will be a very good bike for those who want to ride a sportbike without being too scared and to start to get the hang of this type of bike. Personally, I've always been a fan of sportbikes but I never dared to take the plunge, for fear of losing my license. A lot of people criticize the lack of horsepower but I don't think it's a disadvantage, in the sense that it makes it a very roadworthy and "reasonable" bike. I see some people comparing it to the honda cb650R but for me they don't have the same philosophy. The Cb is more like a roadster disguised as a sportbike, it has "half wrist" handlebars and for me an engine that is a bit less usable/fun than the cp2, since it is a 4 cylinder. I think the R7 will be really fun because of the engine, we already know it and it's not for nothing that the MT-07 / FZ07 is one of the best selling bikes! It's a fun engine, perfect for wheeling, small turns, long trips, low maintenance, low consumption and yet I'm not so much a fan of the MT07 due to its design, but I have to admit that the engine is just incredible and for the fact that the R7 is really successful in terms of design (this is only my opinion).
For me its direct competitor will be clearly the rs660, even if the R7 seems a bit more aggressive due to its position. it could be a really interesting match between the two! We'll see what happens when the time comes, but let's stop criticizing all the time the models that are coming out, let's just enjoy the diversity. I'm as disappointed as you are not to see the R6 anymore, but I'm pretty sure we'll see an r9 soon and it might be amazing!
Cheers guys ! Ride safe !
People will buy it if they can't afford the 2.5k more for the rs 660. The CBR has more power, but quite alot more weight. Should be interesting. They will sell loads
@@rayletaxi Yes or maybe because of the design ! Both are really beautiful but i'm not a huge fan of the differents colors of the rs660 for example
5:30 those bikes sound like fighter jets! JEEZ!❤️
It's because you can hear more mechanical noise than actual exhaust note
How exciting!
Definetly r7 will be my next bike to buy! Let's start saving some money!😂
Always gonna love R6 ❤️❤️
Mine has been ordered!
I just got a 2008 r6 a few days ago. I feel super lucky. Amazing bike only 4000 miles.
Super pumped about the lamp bulb 💡 gonna a 3 dollar replacement.
Morning Alex!!😀
i like the headlights, looks futuristic and fast
Not thrilled about 72 hp bike that costs $9000.
If it had 90hp I'd buy it in a heartbeat..the ergos are aggressive too!! The proper name should be mt07s.. I'm disappointed that yamaha didn't tweak anything(engine wise)...it only makes sense if you're moving up from an R3 otherwise save your money n get a cbr650r,Aprilia rs660, or triumph street triple.. this bike only rival is the ninja650..
The z900 has 125 horse for about same price as the R7 and has a 4 cylinder
Awesome. I want one. I just bought an MT07 and love it. Rode a Ninja 300 before that for two years and I miss the sports riding position and wind protection at speed as well as the better handling. Might switch to this in a year or two
Idc what anyone else says i already love this bike!
Same
I want one but I’d just remove the center light if it doesn’t change the airflow
@@chukob5 yeh that's what I'm thinking too soon enough they'll be able to make mods like that
Currently on the r3 and going to be upgrading to this amazing bike when it comes out. I can't wait!
Same selling my R3 in a hour 😤
@@senoow4215 R7 doesn't come out till 2022, what are you gonna ride in the meantime?
@@WYWY619 nothing, gonna invest the money meanwhile, maybe even buying the cheaper Mt07 since its more comfortable
Great bike brother 👌
Alex great first look...!
Whats up with the cables blocking half of the display!?
I've had two Yamahas already with poor cable routing. Seems they need to hire someone new for that
@@180FiftyFive might be yamahas style
My right ear really enjoyed this video
Love to see this bike with 2021 VR|46 colour schemes.. Hope to own one one day. Semakin Di Depan.
Yep will be buying one
Yamaha is specialy known for worlds best owsom design & refined bike ever. 😍
But are they really?
Most who have ridden multiple brands have lost their brand biases since most top brands are very reliable.. unlike the unreliable age, the 60s, 70s and 80s...
So, to "claim" that yamaha is best or better then most is not true, the are in reality, average, run of the mill, not better or worse than most.
Not too long ago Kawasaki released a 4 cylinder 250cc the zx25r, Honda released an affordable 4 cylinder 650cc sport touring the cbr650r. Now Yamaha, why did you have to downgrade the screamer r6?
Awesome bro! Cool sexy bike 🔥🔥🔥
Are they going for the suzuki cyclops headlight look
Beautiful bike r7🔥❤️
when is embargo over for first ride impressions?
Why is the rear shock attached to the engine directly :D
I reckon it's gonna be a great everyday sports commuter. I can give the R6 some rest. haha
Wish I was out there I’m in ATL
This is sexier than R1 !!
Headlight looks so small like a flashlight on it!
Right!!
the only difference in the ratios is the crown 42? pinion?
Nice review. One suggestion though don’t move camera so fast.
Show!!!
R6 zx6 cbr600rr realmente outras motos. Tenho uma 07 e realmente é diversao garantida. Uma R7 ... aff ia ser muito top! Se vier acessivel vms encarar... rs
You meet Chaseontwowheels👀 he rode there as well💪🏻
Got 07 r6. That gen was best looking 600ever made
That's a hot bike. I really want to pull the trigger and buy it but the lack of power to make it more in line with what an R-series is supposed to be and that Cyclops headlight are 2 major fails IMO. Going to wait on the review but most likely getting the RS660 instead.
its a cool bike they will sell a lot. I can totally see a gold ohlins kit and a aftermarket exhaust for it. Even though I ordered one, it doesn't deserve the R7 name. YZF700R would have been a more appropriate name.
I would buy an aftermarket headlight. 😄
Nice dream bike 🎁
I have a feeling the Suzuki’s sales are going to go up soon enough.
And
We’ll see how insurance classifies this bike and what those prices will be .
Well that's good sportsbike for a beginner rider who wants to try a sportsbike
Besides the light in the middle it looks awesome, but waaaay to less power.
Agreed
Depends on where you ride. It’s perfect for the street and medium/tight twisties. For big open tracks yeah I’d rather have an r6 or r1
@@Into_The_Mystery_13 would you say this is a good beginner bike?
@@geraudsmith4957 Definitely.
Why is the yamaha emblem on, on the dash?
Back end, sides and cockpit looks incredible.. then I see that single clitoral headlight bulb. Yamaha, couldn't you have done better?
I dont like that headlight either
Because they just stuck an led headlamp with nothing around it to fill in the giant ass hole in the nose…that and the lame ass black/white lcd screen. Yamaha it’s going to be a no from me dawg.
@@greatcornholio5541 isn't the hole ram air
@@D_5821 a ram air hole that big for a 90 hp twin lol😳😂 just cheap on Yamaha’s part
Mimicking air intake of MotoGP bikes, I guess
I dunno, 70ish hp in a Supersport style bike sounds a lil low. The CP3 engine would make a stonkin lil sport bike and I think they'd sell gobs of em. People LOVE that triple motor.
It's like the fz6r
@@nezy0726 do you mean the diversion? The fazer was 95hp
How's the sound?
thought you were going to ride it , do not think yamaha is pitching as a r6 replacement but a bike in its own right and looks great and will be fun to ride at a resonable cost !!
Exactly people wanted a cheaper bike, Yamaha makes them a cheaper bike, then people complain it’s not the same as an r6?
Many people didn't understand that it was made to compete with bike like kawasaki 650 and cbr650r not cbr600rr or zx6r
@@kaine438 I just thought Aprilia boomed this segment.. The CBR650R has 95hp and the Aprilia now brought 100hp to the table, so I hoped they would give the R7 an engine upgrade. It's only a 680cc bike so they can add cc's and still keep it a '700' but give it a lot more punch that way.
@@brayvdb2191 maybe yamaha want to follow honda cb650 and cbr650r are using the same engine so they have two variant of bike but yet the same power spec and quality, it's also cut the cost a little because they didn't need to create a new kind of engine
@@brayvdb2191 I'm also a but disappointed about the power but it's also understandable why yamaha decided to go this way
It looks good and has all the stuff, but the REAL R7 was 4 cylinder inline and without any riding joy killers like traction control, mega slipper clutch, quick shifter and what not. ABS and that's it. I remember Nori Haga doing some awesome races with the R7.
No riding modes?? Slow, slower and slowest modes are missing..
Where is it made?
2:26 good sound
whats the tyre sizes?
The more specs and pics I find about this bike, the more it's becoming the Wish version of the Aprilia RS660.
It’s looks cheap compared to the RS660....
@@justincrayton324 its also 2500,- dollar cheaper then the rs660.
@@tubejorrit way more reliable and cheaper to maintain and insure too.
How is the seating position on the bike? Is it super aggressive or a little more relaxed than a 600cc supersport?
Eu can see it in the end. The guy arrives on it
I think its a middle ground
a bit higher than R6's
More like the r1 than the r6. It's not quite that tight.
As far as the seat clip-on foot peg height... I think it'll be close to rs660
I just saw Yamahas official info on it, it only slightly more relaxed than the r6, and I really mean slightly.
Does it have a gear indicator ?
yup its have
I'll take mine in red white n black
I like this if yamaha r3 or r25👍
Imo i have no problem with that single headlight inside intake hole, but yamaha designers could've sculpt the intake hole so it can match and house the circular appearance of the headlight and appear more unite. For now it just look like a random bulb that's not supposed to be there stucked up inside a hole.
dashboard should be a little upwards because is may be a bit problem while riding
I wish they make v4 engine
They do. In the vmax
in everyvideo the screen looks like its lagging
Is this some kind of a Yamaha dealer invite thing?
I'll take one in red with a toce straight pipe pls
Yamaha never said they replaced the R6 with this, but I understand it feels that way lol.
Calling this a supersport is like calling a pontiac sunfire a race car.
Lol
I think that they went after the stunt community. Stunners are going to take over 🦾🦾
Dude just touching seat of bike
#literally hands on😂
Whats the topspeed of the r7
I had 222km/h on my MT-07...most probably this R7 can get 240 plus due to its aerodynamic...hope so 🤷🏻♂️
Sounds good! But definitely catering towards new and smaller riders 😏....well at least they still have the R1 😃....for now 😁
Yoshi r77 full exhaust, any aftermarket air filter, 2WDW ecu flash = About 80 whp. 414 lbs wet. Narrower than an r3! Fully adjustable KYB suspension. Yamaha reliability. I’d say that’s a great bike.
With a full exhaust it would lose about 6-10lbs..Yamaha should have just went with the mt09 engine..call it an R9.. now u got 110+hp!! Keep in mind the R1 puts out close to 200hp.. so it really wouldn't take away anything from the R1...what a huge disappointment..I guess R3 riders will love it as it is a big upgrade in that aspect
@@motorcycleartist I mean I see your point, if it's going to replace the R6, it should reasonably at least have 100 hp. But this bike should have no problem hanging with the big boys in the twisties. Hell, I hung with the big boys on my MT07 with trash suspension. With the right rider, this bike will shred. At the track should be really fun, but the straight line speed will be underwhelming for sure.
@@Brancovtn65 I completely agree!.. the Mt07 is an amazing bike especially at that price point..even with a basic suspension I've seen plenty of RUclips videos where guys are absolutely pushing it to its limits..I look forward to seeing reviews on it after its release..hp isn't the tell tale all on a bike..looks wise bike is gorgeous. Def a head turner.it does makes a good amount of torque!! Which equals FUN!!.a few upgrades n it should be A1. I need something for the streets so I may still get 1.the Aprilia is just too much n I questioned its reliability n we know Italian parts are $$$$.I already got a gsxr750 4 the hwy..thats my baby .
