Thats a lovely comment Alun. Sometimes a painting can look more real than a photograph. Some years ago I painting two Bermese Mountain Dogs as portraits for a devoted owner. She had some profesionally taken reference photo's but though they lacked something. I painted the first one and sent her an 'in progress' shot. She was on my door step by the end of the day to see it in person. Suffice to say the second one was soon followed by more commisions from other owners of the local club. Happy days and I hope you get to paint your own 'better than real life' paintings too - Paul 😃
@@alunrichards2712 TBH, I often use synthetic brushes without a problem. My last painting before Christmas featured water-mixable oils. I used synthetic brushes because they are simple to clean with soap and water. Bristle brushes, like the Bob Ross brand, don't like water.
Great question! They're my home made DIY 'canvases' which are actually made of paper. I made a video all about this here in my G Getting Started with Oils Playlist ruclips.net/p/PLia0kTctmZ_cjdl5rlQRjnYgBkiTBQ6wv
