    I was so delighted to see you had painted my favorite Steve Ross painting! I smiled all the way through your tutorial. I love how your painting turned out! I like the advice to start with smaller and thinner trees!! And the close-up demonstration on putting highlights on the bushes really helped me. Now I am very excited to give it a try! Your outer-edge shape (which hasn't got an official name yet) made me think of having fun with trying unique shapes in my paintings, too. I really like how you showed us how to correct the little pickles you got into. Tips like that always come in handy---each time I paint I discover a new pickle! My favorite thing is when I learn from my mistakes and make progress. I always appreciate your Top Tips sprinkled throughout your videos. Thanks for making my day! You're my favorite artist/teacher. Your style of teaching is very much like Bob's. Very encouraging, quiet-spoken and fun, while giving great instruction and creating beautiful paintings. Have a great day!

      Hi Erica - I've been wanting to do a Steve Ross for a while and your kind prompt reminded me to get on with it. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video. And yes, those pickles are a part of the journey. I learn something new every time. Now what to paint next? Have a great day too and I'll sit and ponder a little longer - Paul 😃🥰😎

    Hi Paul, this was so much fun to watch and so helpful with how to avoid so many pickles! My challenge has been trying to make reflections look natural and how much gets reflected in the water. Do I reflect everything above the water, and how much is enough of the blending before it just becomes too smeared. In this tutorial I noticed that the mountains are not reflected straight on because of the position of the sunlight. They are too distant to be reflected from the sun. I truly love the squareval shape this is! 😉it’s so fun! I like the idea of going with a Steve Ross original too, his style is also worth watching and learning from! We’re all different, and understanding that everyone of us has a completely individual style and that’s also why art is fascinating to me. Like individual snowflakes! For whatever reason, I like making lavender seascapes. The sea is reflective of my lavender/purple sky making it fantasy like yet my sand and dunes are more realistic in color. That’s just how my world on my canvas is sometimes. It works and is very beautiful 🤩 in my opinion.
    Your mountains are beautiful and yes, I have made color mixing mistakes. Thanks for showing us that stopping to evaluate things before we jump into the pickle jar! Learning how colors work is a whole different learning process. It’s important and worth looking into color theory and “color education” (my way to call it😁) there are many handbooks out there and learning color recipes is very important. It saves on paint waste! Hmmm.. would you ever want to make a color tutorial? I also really like Meeden products. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them! Have a great week! We’re having a heatwave this week. Time for some field trips to our lakes close by, and some photo opportunities for paintings!
    ☀️🤩😁🤗

      Hi Stephanie - thank you so much for your kindness and support. Oh the pickles I got into over the years. I would have enough paint to last a life time if I could unpickle it 😂 Finding a scene / color combo that makes you heart skip a beat is a joy. The lavender seascapes are your happy place and will be like a touch stone for you in future. As for making a colour mixing tutorial - well I'm just a dabler at best and there are so many other skilled tutors that made a much better job of it. I'm afraid I would simply muddy the waters a bit more. But I have a video to make and will touch on this soon so thanks for the prompt. Hope the heatwave isn't too unbearable. Here in the UK its been unseasonable cool for June. Rather than shorts and T-shirts its been joggers and hoodies. And the odd umbrella day too. Maybe next week I'll do another field trip and find something interesting to paint. have a lovely trip to the lakes - Paul 😃🥰😎

You are truly a master at what you do! Thanks sooo much for sharing your art and vault of knowledge. You are a true inspiration and a tremendous help to us newcomers trying to paint better. Have a great week ahead, sir! _(PS: __15:47__ - Theeere he is!)_ _(PSS: __20:39__ - That is a nice Easel. I haven't found one that doesn't overlap the canvas at the top and bottom, which is very frustrating)_ 🤪

    Hi Paul. Interesting tutorial. This time you managed to fool me, in a good way. I thought someone else painted the picture. But it seems that the feeling did not deceive me. I'm glad you still put out a video once a week. It's always nice to see them before the start of a new week. But today I would like to ask a question if it's not a problem. The question is related to the color white. In one of the previous comments you mentioned that you sometimes use Lead White for clothed pictures. Unfortunately, I cannot get it because it is banned in my country due to its toxicity. So I'm wondering if you have any recommendations for a replacement.
    That would be all from me for now. Thank you in advance for your answers and good luck with your painting. Enjoy the day and the rest of the week. And as always, happy painting, have a peaceful week and have a nice day.

    • @PaulRansonArt
      @PaulRansonArt  Месяц назад +2

      Hi Angel - I'm not sure I've ever used Lead White as its also been banned for many years here in the UK. There are a few different whites like Zinc White and Cremnitz White but the one I use all the time is Titanium White. I also use it for my wildlife paintings as well as landscapes. I do mix a colour I like to call Seascape white. It was given this name by a dear friend who was an expert seascape artits. I asked her one day how she managed to make her foamy waves look better and brighter than I ever could. See told me to buy a tube of Seascape white which of course doesn't exist. Like glass nails and blue sky hooks. I hope this translates into nonsense items - a typical english joke. So Seascape white id Titanium white tinted with Yellow Ochre. Just enough to make it look off white. Its so bright and beautiful. So I hope my long message helps - Thank you for your support and kindness - Paul 😄🥰😎

    I love your paintings, and I love your videos! I love how you talk to us, and here is some criticism, after all my love:
    Your leaftrees don´t look right to me. The relation between trunk and branches looks strange. Sth like too thin (especially in their beginning), too short and too many of them. I miss some big (3 or 4) Mainbranches. Have you ever tried to paint them the other way, like starting anywhere far outside the trunk, and than go inwards with "curly" movements, ending in the trunk?
    Anyway ... I love your paintings 🙂
    Best regards!

      Hello fellow HHGG - Thank you for the kind comments. I tried to imitate Steve Ross's style in this painting and have a pretty good likeness to the way he painted the original. But that's the thing with art - we like what we like. I hope my tutorials inspire you to paint your own unique version of the painting. It's the reason why Bob started the series. Happy Painting and hope to see you soon - Paul
