Well I finally worked up the nerve to give it a go pulling live bait on Carters Lake! It went as well as I could have hoped having only limited choices in store bought bait that I could legally use on Carters. We caught a couple decent fish and one in the 20ish pound range which is a quality fish for anywhere in Georgia. I expect I will be back in the not to distant future to try and give it 100% and tough it out to net my own bait and see what the results are then.
Thanks for watching y'all! Check out my sponsors website at captmacks.com for all of the rods, planer boards, oxygen system etc that you see me using in these videos!

Nice fish. I love Carters Lake. I target the spots because I have no background with stripes. Will stay tuned to learn a bit.

The other boat was my charter. Been fishing carters for eight years and it will drive you mad if you let it.

I poked around and talked to Jeremy and he said it was probably a guy named Fred. I looked around for ya on Facebook to send you a friend request later that week but I couldn’t find ya.
That was the first time I’d fished Carters during the daylight hours.
I’d fished it plenty at night and had some really good nights but I had been avoiding it during the day due to the timing and bait issue. I’ll be back at night again one day in the near future.

I fish it 6-8 times a year. If you don't have a Love-Hate relationship with Carters Lake you simply haven't fished it enough! Best Striper trips was 5 over 30lbs. Trolling bite can be awesome too on big rigs & Mini Mack. You can catch a mix bag of Walleye, Hybrid, Striper & Spots. I don't recommend trolling around until you get to know the lake. The stump monsters will get you in some of the creeks!

I kept saying "carters is not a poor mans game". For sone reason i kept saying "poor" when i really meant to say "lazy", money has nothing to do with it 😅 Carters is all about putting in the time, its not a show up and catch like clockwork lake like Lanier and Hartwell.

So a white light will work below 60 degrees?

Yessir, once the water tenos drop into the 50s the white lights become the preferred light for catching the alewives 👍

Awesome, thanks. I always thought the bait were scared of any color below 60 degrees. I guess I will be buying a white light for winter time
