Hi Mike, Would you consider doing a video walking us through your entire process of laying down the tracks, going over your equipment and setting up the trolling motor to follow the tracts? Thanks, I've been enjoying your videos for some time now. Can't wait for the next one.
Another great video! I was out on a local lake in northern Indiana this morning. Got them pretty quickly long lining. Best baits this morning was 1/8 oz beetle spins and my all time favorite crappie bait, a size 5 flicker shad caught the majority of fish again.
I’m gonna have to give this a try. I’m in TN and can catch them pulling cranks on Percy Priest, but Old Hickory is a no go. Need to try this on OH and see if I can get it to work. Enjoyed the video, thanks!
Been following your methods at lake ozark. Got a new boat, (because it was time)a couple of Millenium Spyderlok T-bars, new rods, reels, baits, etc. Long lining with crank baits is a blast but I never, ever limit out. A good outing is 7 or 8. All 12-13” fish though. I know you have videos out to answer all my questions but all your content is extremely helpful. You do a great job of pointing out new tips in every video, even if that day’s method has been coverages before. I’d kill to have you see my rig/setups etc., and point out my flaws. But then you’d never have time to shoot another video.😂
No reason really. I think a swivel works fine but it is just as quick to tie a loop knot and I usually don't experience much spin on my crappie jigs like I do sometimes when pulling crankbaits.
Good morning Mike. I enjoy your videos. I have just recently discovered them and have been watching all I can. I do have a couple questions for you. Is there just a certain time of year you troll jigs and crank baits ? What is your deciding factor for switching up your methods?
Love the videos Mike! Do you prefer these jigs or the bandits better or have you noticed if/when one works better than the other? Having down to Camdenton (big niangua) in August. Long lining slabs & jugging blues
I usually troll jigs if the fish are higher in the water column. I like to run deep diving crankbaits when the fish are deeper. I enjoy both. Just two different styles of fishing.
You seem to be a bit of all right Mike I don't care what Charlie says about you. All I can say is it ain't good.😂 Glad to see you're getting back to the roots of fishing I'd like to have livescope but just can't seem to pull the trigger. A lot of money for us working folk. Thanks for the videos
How do you know how far to cast? Doesn't that affect how high or low the jigs will pull? Can you also explain the different angles of the rod holders, as that would affect depth too right? Thanks!
I don't make it that complicated. I know about how far a full cast is and from charts and expeirience I know about what depth they are running with my rods at about a 45 degree angle.
Great video. Appreciate the video very much. But was concerned that the MDC has a 3 pole limit per person. Unless you got a camera man? Continued success!
@@MikeBakerVideos Thanks Mike. I''ll take a look again. Wasn't sure if you were looking for something (other than consistent flat) when you set your path.
I start by running the top jig up the line. I tie the bottom jig with a loop knot. Then I place the top jig about 18 " up the line and tie another loop knot with a 1 to 3" loop.
Love watching your videos, thanks. Noticed you have a Suzuki outboard, how do you like it? Im thinking of upgrading my 2 stroke mariner to a 4 stroke, and was think about Yamaha or Suzuki , your thoughts

Would enjoy a video like this
Some of my favorite videos on RUclips are your trolling videos. Appreciate the content and helpful tips. Hope to see the cranking video soon.
Very informative thank you. I’ll be back.
Great video
I learned more from this video then 20 others. Nice job sir. I will be tossing them back just like you!
Nice video 🎉 cool technique
Another great video Mike
Great video as always! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I always learn something when watching your videos.
Great video sir!
Thx Mike!! Great video! I love long lining my fav way to crappie fish!!
Thanks for another really good video.
Good job Mike, really enjoy the videos

Mike, I'm waiting on that fall lone lining video..
very informative, I love your video's. thank you
Hi Mike Baker, love your videos, your livescope DF...
Mike, Really enjoy the Long Line videos! What is the reason you use a loop knot on the Fin Spins versus a swivel?
No reason really. I think a swivel works fine but it is just as quick to tie a loop knot and I usually don't experience much spin on my crappie jigs like I do sometimes when pulling crankbaits.

What is the different color of tape on your rods for? I suspect it is a reminder of some kind.
To help keep track of what baits are on what rod.
Wish I could legally run multiple rods, but I live in MN where it’s 1 per person
You should do recipe videos.
Ha! I only have one recipe. Maybe I’ll do a short video.

Don’t be concerned.

How do you pick your areas to troll for crappie?
What is the depth of the water where you are trolling?
I do a lot of sidescanning before I troll an area. In this video I was fishing water that was primarily in the 12 to 17 foot range.
@@MikeBakerVideos Could you do a video on what you're looking for when you do that? Thanks!
@@tacohell I have a lot of videos on dock shooting where I show my side scanning for crappie.

How do you tie the double rigs?
I start by running the top jig up the line. I tie the bottom jig with a loop knot. Then I place the top jig about 18 " up the line and tie another loop knot with a 1 to 3" loop.
How far behind boat are you casting jigs long lining??
As far as I can throw them.
Great video! Hope the crankbait one happened.
At what point do those 1/4 oz jigs start bouncing the bottom in 12 ft? Does running 0.9 still keep them off bottom?
They run about 8 to 10 ft. at 1.2 mph. 11to 13 at .8.
Are you just using the trolling motor long lining those jigs ??
Yes.
Love watching your videos, thanks. Noticed you have a Suzuki outboard, how do you like it? Im thinking of upgrading my 2 stroke mariner to a 4 stroke, and was think about Yamaha or Suzuki , your thoughts
I have owned three Suzukis and never put a wrench on them. Great motors.
Thanks
With 1/4 oz jigs at 1.2mph how deep do you think the jigs are running?
8 to 10 ft.
if you weren't going to keep any, then why did you throw them on the floor to catch another?
