when I was a little kid fishing a creek mouth in Rocky Bayou in Niceville, Florida I came home with 3 bass, 5 mullet and 2 sheepshead all on worms.
Nice!!
My mind was just blown with you using those Canadian Nightcrawlers and being extremely successful catching sheepshead. I definitely need to try that!
🙌 if you try em let me know how they work for you!
I'm not sure if they're nightcrawlers or third of red worms or they die some of the worms green. Cuz you can't see the name on it and I've seen the red worms and a green worms that they die regular worms in that same color container. I'm used to fish in freshwater I've been fishing salt and I'll for 20 years but I grew up on freshwater and use those all the time back home. Even here in Texas I still use them for freshwater. So it's hard to tell but it look into the size of it it could be a Nightcrawler but it's not that long but does look a little sick so I guess you can only try and see
Those are red wigglers.. not night crawlers. Night crawlers are huge and very long! They wouldn’t fit in that #2 .
It's true, I believe they look like shucked oysters
Those are larger than red wigglers.
I've used earthworms before in saltwater and people looked at me strange. I really didn't know any better. I had them, tried them and caught croaker. This is why I love your channel.
🙌 next time they say that show em the video for proof lol
I caught one of biggest striper ever on night crawlers when I first started fishing because I didn’t really know better either but they work for fresh and salt
Worm's catches a lot of fish fresh brackets saltwater
Only thing I ever caught off worms in saltwater was hardhead cartfish.
Lol yeah with worms you catch a lot of hard head too!! Fiddler crab! The best sheepshead bait ever! Lol I grew up on padre island so I know a little about fishing saltwater lol
I've fished sheepshead for years and never used worms. I'm impressed! New subscriber here.
🙌 thanks man!!
I’ve caught a large mouth bass night fishing for catfish using thanksgiving ham. Blew my mind when I pulled that fish out of the water.
That’s crazy lol
Well I’ve used them for redfish but never thought to use for sheep’s! Walmart is gonna be out of worms in no time 😂
😂 I was just thinking I should stock up lol
Been fishing for sheepshead around Oregon Inlet for years but have never seen this trick. Keep up the good work! You've earned a new subscriber!
Thanks man!!
That's a doggone super cool tip right there Nate. I would never have thought of that. Thanks!
Lol thanks brother!!
Boom!!! That is awesome brother! Thinking outside the box for sure!!! Hell of a video for sure! Great content as always Nate! Keep it up brother!!! Worms are a lot less expensive than shrimp and fiddlers!!!
🙌 🙌 thanks brother!!
First time stopping by and I'm loving the energy of this channel. Tight lines Captain. 🐟🐟🐟
🙌 🙌 thanks brother!!
Up here in Canada we have been using nightcrawlers for decades. Sheepshead (freshwater drum) love them.!!
Your mixing sheephead not sheepshead...sheepshead are great..the saltwater fish...freshwater sheep arent good
That's awesome because Iike you said sometimes catching sheepshead depends on first catching suitable bait ie Fiddler crabs or other shellfish. I caught my PB 8 lbs on a live shrimp under a popping cork.
That’s a Stud man, nice catch!!
Great video! I'm not kidding, you just took my idea ha ha...Last week I went fishing with worms for Sheepshead, but the conditions were terrible and I didn't have any hits. It's good to know they like worms. It only makes sense because I always see little worms when I'm catching mud crabs...New sub here.
Man you consistently provide great content. This alone should result in more subscribers!
Thanks brother, I appreciate it!!
@@southernsaltI just subscribed 🤙🏾 i'm a saltwater angler from Houston Texas myself✌🏾
I met an old man while fishing about 10 years ago who told me this trick. Also works on whiting and Blues too! Easy Cheap Bait! I have been telling people ever since I tried it and had good success! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome thanks for sharing your success on them!!
That is awesome, I’m going to try this weekend. I love sheepshead fishing. I usually use fiddler crabs and out fish everybody with them but would love to try this as they are cheap and easy. I catch my own fiddler crabs and it’s easy but tough on back with all the digging. Another good bait/technique is to use a piece of oyster wrapped in bait netting. Oyster is expensive but one bait can be used for several fish if lucky.
Let us know how it goes for you!
This is why I like instant reverse. Great video I'm learning alot just in 2 videos of yours
🙌 🙌 awesome man, good luck out there!!
Nice fish and nice release, thank you for your Time and Knowledge. Keep a tight line and enjoy Life, from Bridgeport Connecticut.
Thank you!!!
That's has to be the wildest thing I've seen used on Sheepshead and in salt water. Too Cool man. Nice work.
Thanks man!!
I just subscribed to your channel, please show more of the boat/kayak you are using as I'm interested in trying one in the future. I love fishing in (pea-soup)fog. Thanks for the video.
Freaking earthworms man…. I would’ve never guessed it! That’s insane! And such an awesome easily accessible alternative To shrimp, crabs, etc…. Good stuff brother!
I know right 😂 they work almost too good to use anything else lol
I had no idea... wow... that's impressive partner.. thank you for sharing.
No problem man! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awe man this video reminded me of my grandparents catching sheepshead while bream fishing close to the causeway when I was very young! I was maybe 4 or 5 years old and don’t remember if they were fishing with worms or crickets. I had totally forgotten about that until I watched this video! I would definitely like to see you try crickets sometime! I never thought about using worms for sheep’s but it definitely makes sense!
The weirdest things I can remember using for bait was bologna, cheese, and marshmallows. I would catch bream and catfish with those baits.
Awesome video!
Thanks brother!! I will definitely be doing crickets!
Oh yeah! I caught a mess of fish with cheese.
We used to use ivory soap bars when I was a kid for freshwater catfish here in Florida... Always worked!!! This trick is one I'm excited to try !!
🙌 🙌 that’s awesome!!
Man you did it again! I’m headed to Walmart in the morning for some worms! Definitely gonna shout you out on the video if it work! Tight lines!
Man can’t wait to see how y’all do!!
That was pretty awesome! I caught my first sheepshead ever on a earth worm in the spillway in Inglis Florida. I actually forgot all about this bait. Thanks for the reminder.
Nice!!
Lake Russua side Spillway has some big ones also but I never thought to use a worm it makes super sense! I have earth worms all over in my yard! This is wild!!! 💯🎣💯🎣💯🎣💯🫡
@@cbasslures6395 that's where I catch all mine with earth worms 🪱
Yeah this guy thinks he came up with the idea I grew up in palm beach county and we were doing it in the 80s!!!
Just marvellous vedio for sheep heads . I am new to kayak fish Jason. I have a Big Fish 120 with a trolling motor. I used a carrot on my hock with scent
Nice welcome to kayak fishing and good luck!
That video was highly entertaining! I've fished sheepshead my whole life and have to say I'm surprised by the earth worms. You put a pretty good licking on them.
Thanks brother! It was surprising to me when I tried em lol.
Was this your first time trying them?
Good stuff brother. Keep up the good content 👍
Thanks brother
Enjoyed watching you catch! Go get em’!
Thank you!!
Enjoyed watching you catch big sheepshead. You are the first person I have seen use red worms I like the way you think
🙌 🙌 thanks man!
Fantastic! I'll be digging in the compost pile before I go fishing again.
🙌 🙌
You just opened a can of worms 😂😂
😂 a good one too lol
Luv ur style thanks for all ur tips. The latinanglers appreciate you my brother 🙏 💯 🎣🎣🎣
🙌 thanks brother!!
This is wild man! I’m definitely gonna try this! You’re a goat for this one and you gotta new subscriber!
🙌 thanks brother!!
@@southernsalt thank you!
When I was young my brother and I caught night crawlers before going to Indian River Inlet in Delaware, we threw out the nigh crawlers and caught Flounder left and right to the point we had other fishermen asking us what we were using.
Nice!!
GOOD INFO I WILL BE USING THOSE WORNS ON MY NEXT FISHING TRIP FOR SHEEPSHEAD. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.GOD BLESS
🙌 thank you!
I just stumbled across your website, I love it.
🙌 thank you!!
Caught a 100 lbs Tarpon on a blue gill in the intercoastal Davie Blvd area. The blue gills would only stay alive for 5 to 10 minutes before would die. Tarpon got the one that lived long enough to eat while alive.
😯
That’s crazy… AWESOME!!
Beautiful sheepshead great show, you ask what's the weirdest bait we ever used to catch fish, you going to blow your mind on this one my brother-in-law and I were wearing out the big specks back in the late 70s we were using live shrimp we caught in the trawl net in Hopedale La. We ran out and they still biting good we did not want to put the trawl back out or leave our spot so I had a white tea shirt on we cut some strips out of it put it on the hook with a split shot on under a popping cork and put the hurt on them mind you there was no limit back then I'm, 69 now we'll there you have it unreal.
That is mind blowing lol, way to be resourceful!
Just subscribed! I like your energy!
🙌 🙌
Really enjoy your shows love when you catch those flounder's.
Man I need to get on some more flounder lol won’t be long till they come back in
Gigging flounder is the best way. Fun fun
Wow! Never thought! Amazing video! Will definitely try! Much cheaper than 38 cents live shrimp!
🙌
Absolutely awesome video brother! Looks like your already over 700 likes!
🙌 🙌
We catch grass carp on acorns in the fall. They hear them hit the water when they fall off of the tree, so you can see where they are hanging out. Put an acorn on a screw lock hook and drop it under a white oak.
Nice I’ll have to try that!
People go crazy for snappers. I go crazy for sheepheads. They're my betta fish at Target and I'm looking for dinner! This is great
Awesome!!
As soon as I seen the worms I laughed out loud . Great video Nate stuff was dope.
😂 right on! When we going fishing lol
@@southernsalt shit man anytime you want
Great video along side editing 👌
Thank you
Dude I'm in South Carolina this upcoming weekend I'm definitely going to try worms and the vudu shrimp I seen you use in the last video. Can't seem to find Fiddler's or shrimp in the bait shops with all this cold weather and rain. I love videos like this man doing something untraditional and still tearing up the fish man
🙌 🙌 awesome man! Same way down here, so hard to find bait in the winter. Good luck!
I'm in Jacksonville fl..just south of Georgia border in northeast Florida so pretty much the same ecosystems. Pine forests huge moss-draped southern live oak. Cabbage palmetto. Deciduous red maples, sycamores, Sassafras, vPexan, hickory turkey oaks and many others as well. Anyway..you're right cold took toll a d shrimp (live) is scarce fiddlers are hibernating/slowed metabolism deep In mud till April give or take. Live Mud Minnows however, are what we rely 5on in Winter.. Only $4 a dozen
If your near Charleston try haddrells they usually have fiddlers
Great video man thanks for the tip, I'll be trying worms next time I target sheepshead.
🙌 let us know how you do!
Dad used to fish the quarries in Ohio and Pa. He would sit me on a flat bank for safety. I would use little gold hooks with berries for bluegill. Good memories thanks
Awesome man, irreplaceable memories brother!
That’s a new one on me! Great video Nate. Don’t you just love that worm dirt?
Thanks brother! It’s actually the only thing I hate about using worms 😂 😂
Good stuff as usual, brother!
Thanks brother!!
You. Sheep's head are excellent to eat. Taste like crab yum.
I caught an 8lb black drum on a gold spoon fishing for redfish with my beu ,never thought black drum hit lures. I grew up in Titusville fla and my older brother used chicken skin trailered on jigs for trout and redfish
Wow never heard of the chicken skin, awesome!
Nice catches, they looked yummy
Thanks!
I used fresh water Power bait to cathch salt water fish in the surf. You wrap it around the hook into a ball and it floats
Nice!
This is Jer-Bear outdoor adventures. I will surely try this on southport pier. Great video and keep catching.
Good luck!
I used a dragonfly to catch a largemouth bass but that’s a great idea for sheepshead. I’ve been fishing in Florida all my life and it never crossed my mind to use earthworms.
Awesome man!! Yeah they work really well around Alabama
I remember growing up we use to dig blood worms in the bay (flats) during low tide. Excellent bait.
Awesome man!
I was fishing for black drum with frozen shrimp... Dude next to me caught one with a kernel of popped corn salted and buttered.
😮 😮 holy cow lol
Interesting!! I wonder if the Berkeley Gulp Night Crawlers would work as well?? A jar of those will last years in the tackle box or in the storage hatch as long as they have Gulp juice in the jar.. Great video!
I might have to try and see lol
That's awesome! I've never heard of that!
🙌 thanks!!
I love your spirit man
Thanks brother!
There’s was an old man that as far as i know still fish a pond at an Air Force base in FL where i used to be stationed at and he uses wiggler worms for mullet that he’s done since he was a kid. He had to go through a few other types of fish but he will get his mullet and be happy going home to eat them!
Earlier I saw a photo i think from Flats Class about finding worms on a red drum stomach, i had a medium size tarpon on a canal coming after my zoom stick worm when i was retrieving to go cast in another spot. If you look up key west kayak fishing he used to fish for tarpons during the Palolo worm hatch season
This video is fun, thanks
🙌 🙌
You and sheepshead have the same smile 😁 🤣
Sorry, love you
🤦🏻♂️ apology not accepted lol
Great tip and video! Thanks
You bet, thank you!
I've wondered if saltwater fish would bite earthworms, but never tried it. Next time I get down to the Gulf, I'm definitely gonna try that! Sheepshead always remind me of bluegill on steroids! Great video!
Awesome! Yeah their very similar in many ways
Worms work like shrimp and squid
You ARE OWED A TON OF SUBS FOR THIS LESSON👍🏾🎣💯❗️❗️❗️
I COULDN’T PASS YOU UP Bro💗💯👍🏾💪🏾❗️❗️❗️
🙌 🙌 thanks brother!!
Awesome bro!!

Great video. PB
Thank you!
Awsome video, my friend. I didn’t know your channel. Now I know and I like a lot. Congratulations.
Hugs from Brazil.
Thank you!!
I invite you to know my channel. Here, in Brazil, we have the peacock bass, one of the best fish that we have to catch with artificial lures.
Never caught one but it’s on my bucket list
@@southernsalt , you’ll gonna love it.
I've been using european nightcrswlers and Alabama jumpers (invasive Asian jumpers) in brackish and salt when I was kid.csught crocker. Spots reds. Drum, a small flounder. Lots of mangrove snapper
..then of course undesirables - eels, blue crabs. Stilton catfish, toadfish and stingrays. Caught a speckled trout at night on lively big nightcrawler on a float rig.
Nice!
I caught some locusts and hooked them between the wings cast on top of some seaweed and caught the biggest large mouth bass in my life !!! It was 22 3/4 inches 6 1/2 lbs. FREAKING CRAZINESS DAY EVER !!!
Holy cow!! Nice!
Good job Nate! Great video, nice fish man! You should come over to the Tallahassee area some time and check out St. Marks Wildlife Refuge. I'm going to have to go down to the old St. George bridge and try your secret bait. Thanks Man!
Man I’m actually headed to Lake Talquin early March for Crappie
@@southernsalt nice! I’ve never kayaked on Talquin but used to catch some slab crappie from the docks in an all nighter! I need to get out there.
My dad was just talking last night about fishing for crappie and one time he ran out of live minnows, but he found an old pack of chewing gum on the boat. He caught a cooler full of crappie on chewing gum wrappers.
Very nice!!
Heck yeah! You know you gotta do crickets next.
🙌 🤫 😂
Awesome!!!! Minute mark 9:51 LOL
😂
Those were some fightin fish!
Yes they were lol
Thanks for the tip brother 🤜🏼🤛🏼
No problem brother!
Aquarium gold fish ( bright orange) slayed small mouth! Probably irresponsible introducing them into the water system but I was young, desperate and didn’t really know any better but man did they work! Highly visible for sure!😬
I’ve heard of people using gold fish, I’ve never tried it but heard it’s an awesome bait
What! I'm in Charleston SC and I've been waiting on the fiddler crabs.🙄 Now I'm going kayak sheepshead fishing as soon as I get them worms! Thanks, Southern Salt!
🙌 let me know how they work for you!
@@southernsalt I will, I'll be fishing the Goose Creek Reservoir in SC tomorrow using Zoom Tiny Fluke jigs, beetle spins with white grub and red dot and maybe float fish for crappie and brim. Great videos thanks 👍
I used ink pen tops with a hook out the end to catch fresh water fish, but never tried it in saltwater.
I absolutely 💯 ♥️ the unbelievable usage of earthworms for sheepeys
🙌 thanks man!!
Lol who would have thought about worms great video
Thanks man!! I know, crazy that it works
MIND BLOWN
🙌 🙌
Fn awesome man. Lol love it
🙌 thanks brother!!
Large mouth on cherry tomatoes got four one day. Was trying to get grass carp but the bass wouldn’t leave them alone. Got two chain pickerel on bread balls years ago.
Right on!
Dude you cracked the code!!!
🙌 🙌
Are you out there in Milton off the I-10 Bridge? I catch a ton of really fine sheephead between 17 and 24 in out there and it's relatively shallow
I’m not on that bridge
Excellent!
Thank you!
Ive used strips of a swisher sweet pack as a lure for bass perch and tilapia
Dang lol
I done seen it all. Never thought to use crawlers for sheep. Got to give it a try soon.
Man it works unbelievable well
We were offshore catching snapper ran out of bait. With last piece of cut bait caught a hard head filet a piece off and caught 44in Cobia
Nice!! Heck of a catch!
ive caught largemouth bass on bright orange bobbers with a hook set rt behind it. used it like a topwater bait. ive also had a ton of success using toads for bass. hook a toad and toss it out and they tend to swim on top unlike a real frog that tends to dive down.
🙌 🙌
In South Africa, we do not have Sheepshead. Looks like incredible fish to catch! A lot of fun! Really awesome fishing!
They are some pretty fun fish to catch!
They're also very good eating.
Massive Sheepshead! Going to try this bait ;)
Just sub!
Tight lines.
🙌 let us know how it goes!
Hey man I love them flounder's stuff with good old crab meat creole stuffing, I m from South Louisiana down below New Orleans shrimp or crab meat dressing made with both are so good, got another tip for you, I see some guys chuming for bait fish or shrimp and they using that expensive stuff to chum with in my day we used cheap can dog food like kennel ration or Delight dog food not the chunk but the ground up meat kind some have corn mixed in them put it in cheese cloth or punch holes in the can man we used catch some shrimp and bait fish with that stuff put it where you thowi g your cash net with 15 - 20 minutes and get after it cheaper than that store bought chum tks for the videos really enjoy them, god bless you and family, where you from.
Nice! Thanks for the tips!
