I just sold my brand new Ford Ranger Raptor. Raptor got 10AT as well but it broke soooooo many times!! Anyway, if you’re looking for reliability, you should buy Japanese car not American car!!
Side note:
One of the most ironic trucks ive read about is dodge ram. Im not sure which model but it was armed with a cummins straight six diesel coupled with an aisin transmission.
On paper, this powertrain combination should keep the truck rolling until the day the sun stops shining. In reality it doesnt. I believe the reason was Dodge😂😂
S1008k, why did you buy a cRaptor, if Japanese vehicles were so reliable? I've been driving Hondas and Toyotas since the 90s.
@@vuexiong1625 maybe he just found out about it or he wanted to test the waters. I mean, it is a ranger raptor. Butch-looking truck.
But then again,, the ongoing tacoma n the hilux rogue looks pretty butch too😅
That's really true. For anyone who's looking to buy one ,buy rather Toyota,Mitsubishi,Nissan (not that much powerful or reliable though) and honda (not for offroading) for pickups rather then Toyota o do recommend to buy a Mitsubishi l200. Mine works fine and is decent on offroading . But I don't know about the petrol version. I recommend buying a diesel one.
Thanks for the comments guys😊 I just got the brand new ISUZU D-MAX 3.0 and I love it!! The reason why I bought RAPTOR is just the looks of the truck lol
An LC can compare only with an LC. I admire the approach of Toyota. They know they’re the best. Would love to own an LC300, or any LC for that matter.✌️
nah lc can compare with nissan patrol g wagon
@@soulz2422 g wagon isn't a direct competitor of LC. Nissan Patrol has no single chance against new LC300.
@@westisinmyblood1240 well u be shocked then g wagon is a rival to the patrol land cruiser in eu countrys there they have g 350 which is the same price as an lc and g wagon kinda destroyed the old lc200 on a hill test with all 3 diff lock so this new lc will be a good rival i cant say which is better we will wait and have to see which is patrol g or lc
@@soulz2422 same price point actually doesn't make anyone rival. G Wagon is a more retroish suv, is a competitor of Jeep wrangler, Land Rover defender. Toyota olf fj cruiser is a direct competitor or these type vehicles and can blow them out completely. Just one scene of hill climb can't make G series better all together. Old LC200 had even other facilities era. Moreover Land Cruiser is more versatile suv for a while. MB GL class, BMW X7, Range Rover, Jeep Grand Cherokee are some direct competitor of it..
Thankful.
I love Toyota
TOYOTA FTW ♥
Your profile is legit a Cadillac
INCREDIBLE!
I hope (and expect) this transmission will be used in the new Tundra as well. This paired with the twin turbo V6 should produce ample power/torque while dramatically improving fuel economy over the outgoing Tundra. I almost purchased a 2021 Tundra, but I'm glad I decided to wait!
The new Tundra transmission….?
That's not Tundra transmission that's Land Cruiser transmission
This Aisin 10 speed AT transmission and ZF 8HP also Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic are the best automatic transmissions. Wished Ford and GM use one of these ATs.
Ford’s 10AT and GM’s Allison is just as good if not better
Not Asian it is AISIN.
@@evanleo7633 Not really. They are notorious for failures. Aisin is bulletproof.
@@evanleo7633 I can tell you it's better shifting I drove both

Hi
if the raptor 10-speed die, you have to communicate with the toyota and attach this to your ford raptor, hope it fits with warranty.
Whats wrong with the raptor 10sp?
Curios because im buying one soon.
@@shakengandulf the raptors ten speed (10R80) is a very good transmission. It’s just had some questionable reliability concerns likewise. Experience from mine driving one with a 1.7 ton caravan hooked to the back I noticed how confused and frantic it is shifting gears. Constant up shifting and down shifting, whilst holding the motor at high revs. It frequently got confused about which gear to use, at times it hesitates, shifts harshly and jerks and lunges off of a stop. This particular gearbox was recalled June last year due to risk of the failure of the trans fluid pump gears and the gear shift cable. I personally would go for the 3.2 with the 6 speed. Much less gears, but a very less chance of one of those gears going wrong.
@@teejay6342 Damn thats scary.. thanks for the comment..
Will the 2021 version be any better.?
Wont be towing anything.
Looking at buying one aroumd Nov.
@Caps Lock with good maintenance and if you baby it it works brilliantly!!!
ZF slays
0:55 Quite funny Toyota added the hopping rpm's with the 200 series. So they must be aware of the problem??? As many 200 series owners know, at a steady 100 km/h, the torque converter on the 200 series just wouldn't lock up (with all the wear, tear and heat in the transmission as a consequence).
I just want a manual.
well too bad buddy
Check the glovebox.
Nice! any chance of a kit so i can add this to my 75 series?
Did you really think they're gonna reply lol
@@sanaaaboulhosn who knows a lot of companies have started listening to the customers again. And I am being fully serious if they made a conversion kit for my 75 series I would totaly buy it. With the ratings modern automatics get I could totally max out my GVM and GCM. There are companies that do it with the 79 using the 200 series automatic but they don't sell a kit you have to get it done by them and last I heard it was over $20k.

Toyota we want this coupled to a V6 twin turbo in the new 4runner, Tacoma and Tundra. This is what the US market wants.
Looks like they listened.
Water and land cruiser make its own way
Not sold in USA
Is this new lockup due to the current 200s always fighting to pick a gear and everyone bought lockup kits for towing and fuel saving?
Nah, this is just an industry Standard lockup clutch design. Looks exactly like what you get in a ZF or Daimler 8 or 9 speed Automatic transmission. And I bet Ford / GM have the same design. That’s why I’m so puzzled. This is nothing new. It’s standard for more than a decade.
@@Gemini_0815 It's new to LC, that's why. They didn't claim it to be new technology, but just a new 10 speed from Toyota.

Is this the same ZF ten speed or different?.

Schade, dass der lc300 nicht nach Deutschland importiert wird 😩.
Finally, Land Cruiser still using traditional Automatic Transmission rather than CVT
CVT's will never be used on a truck based vehicle as it can't handle the load.
There is no way a large truck would use a CVT. They just can't handle loads of torque and weight. Sure, you might remember Williams experimenting with CVTs on F1 cars, but they have high-revving low torque engines running a sub-ton car.

Japanese tank use a heavy duty engine by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries mated by CVT

I’m rather confused here. Is this transmission the same as Direct Shift CVT?
No, it's traditional AT instead of CVT, as CVT will broken down easily due to ladder frame structure + high engine torque

Better than ford 10 speed
honestly true
No low range?
you mean 4lo low range? that's in the transfer case, which this is not.
@@gwot yep. It doesn't mention a transfer case at all, but emphsasises the low gearing of 1st in the 10 speed transmission. I saw another video where the drive selection button had only 4H - it looked like there was no 4L option. I could be wrong, but the transmission video didn't clarify. In fact, it tends to support the idea that there may not be a 4Lo option. Surely if there was a transfer case, it would have featured with the transmission. It is an integral part of any 4wd system with 4Lo.
@@garrygraham7901 i think it has to do with the fact its a vehicle built for all terrain not a pandering SUV 4L is just standard it has for many years now on 4x4's.
@@phalanx3803 yeah, that's what I would expect also. However, the VW Amarok is a dedicated 4WD but has no low range, relying instead on its V6 torque and low gearing in 1st and second. The toyota promo made a big deal about its low geared 1st and the mode screen showed no L4 option, so I was wondering if toyota may also have been drinking the kool-aid... I have since had it confirmed from another channel that the lc300 will have 4L. All good.
So you developed an entire new transmission and the only features you can show are a bloody lockup clutch and a spread increase? That’s poor advertisement. But nice car!
what else is there to show? it changing gears like every auto ever made? Not every auto trans can lock up.
@@gwot Toyota transmissions had lockup clutches since the old 4 speed in the Landcruiser J10. I think they failed to emphasise the ability to utilise the lockup clutch more often due to improvements on the NVH performance. Other noteworthy features would possibly have been jumping gears (like going from 8th to second in one step), ability to sail with engine off, stopstart on the move etc... just to name a few.

LONG LASTING AISIN TRANS
Данная АКПП вышла из строя при пробеге 2 000 км.
Очень неприятно и очень зол.
Разобрали, брак сборки.
Ну как так?
Why no dual clutch 😁
dual clutch is horrendous for slow speeds, I can only imagine it's worse offroading. It engages like a manual clutch, and needs to slip at slow speeds like a manual clutch, only that the computer does it for you, but worse, it lags behind your on/off gas input.
Cause they are rubbish, clunky things.
You surely don't know what you're talking about
Cruiser is cruiser
New gearbox and new chassis and also new engines?! needs the test of time to prove it’s still that reliable LC! at least 5 yrs.
All these parts are from other models in Toyota/Lexus lineup. Should be stout
@@MaddNomad1015 I don't think any Toyota/Lexus has a torque converter physical gear 10-speed transmission, it's a first for Toyota. Also, the engine is based off of an existing one, but different internals and tune for less HP more torque, so it's technically new. And the chassis is based off of Toyota's brand new GA-F global architecture platform, so that's literally new too. So yeah, safe to say the entire truck is all new.
@@gwot This transmission is basically the LC 500 and LS 500 transmission with minimal tuning, it has been on the market for more than 4 years now.
@@mohammadmadi1447 ah yes, thanks for that. I was trying to find a 10 speed but ended up looking at the hybrid versions and that wasn't the same. Yeah, just like the engine then, based on the same just with different gearing. But I don't think the LC/LS has a locking converter? So for the most part, I'd say it's pretty much new.
@@gwot For the locking converter yes the LS 500 & LC 500 has it and works in the exact same way,, actually the locking converter is kind of old and exists in almost all automatic transmissions from all other manufacturers, Honda 10-speed has it and works in the exact same way, TOYOTA CAMRY 2018 new 8-Speed also has it and works in the same way, all gasoline cars CVTs also have it.
In the old cars from 1990s they have it but in these old cars it engages with the maximum 4th gear only, the new logic is to make it engage much earlier -from the 2nd gear-, this is a main reason for the good fuel economy modern automatics get these days, the hydraulic couple can't transfer more than 80% of the engine output to the transmission, but with the clutch engaged you get mechanical coupling which can transfer up to 99.9% of engine power to the transmission just such as any Manual transmission, significantly less losses = better fuel economy.
Totally pointless having 10 speeds when you have 700nm of torque over such a wide range from the engine.
A complex transmission for no reason.
Even though you have such a high torque output from the engine, having higher number of gears benefits you by giving you better fuel economy and less NVH from engine due low RPM range engine operates and also better acceleration.
But I agree with you, anything complicated no good when gets old..
@@Dan.U.
I do understand the reasoning, but putting 10 ratios in a box capable of handling 700Nm to save points of a litre per 100km is futile.
By the very nature of my sentence above, it means that the transmission will have to incredibly heavy to be strong enough, adding weight and reducing fuel efficiency..... or lighter and sacrifice durability, something Toyota seems to be doing more of lately.
We can do this ᕙ(*•̀ᗜ•́*)ᕗ to get.
I’ll pass thanks. Just another gearbox that will continue to hunt for the optimal optional gear. The last of the best ended in 2015.

tesla sticks to 1 gear, electric motors are great.
@@miguellopez3392 very different principles of propelling a car hence... your comment is irrelevant.
@@nightarrow7473 its not, it's the better rive train sytem, and hybrids benefit from it directly.
@@miguellopez3392 how do hybrid cars benefit from Tesla's single speed gearbox? You do realise that combustion engines ( hybrid or not) have lower RPM and a narrower torque and power peak band, right? Electric motors maintain a flatter power band and go up to 18k RPM or even more eliminating the need for a multi ratio gearbox ( for daily use at least). Coming back to hybrids, they use CVT transmissions mostly WHICH are continuous (variable) transmission, it does change its ratio all the time based on speed and RPM and does not resemble anything in full electric cars like Teslas as they have a constant ratio.
@@nightarrow7473 hybrids use their engine to charge a battery at their peak efficiency, then sends it to the motors so it can use the power efficiently.
Still doesnt justify the crappiness of 10 damn gears.....why would u need so many at all?
nothing new to see here just more ratios
