- The final part of my FireRed Dream Team Quest is here. This video contains a small compilation of my shinies as well as the Elite 4 Round 1 and 2. I hope you enjoy it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this playthrough. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are among my favourite Pokemon games & I feel like this team is probably the best I've put together yet. I'm not really interested in stats, balance, EVs etc but the cohesion with this team was excellent. Sadly as you see in this video, Arbok didn't stand out too much in the Elite 4 but it was still very useful throughout. Charizard and Dragonite were the real winners and Cloyster held its own for sure.

Pokemon FireRed was my first ever game, so it means a lot to me, it has so many nice thigns about it and it looks so nice.
I think fighting the way you do is really nice, also animation give life to the fight for sure.

I like him because he's genuinely passionate about shiny hunting and he doesn't clickbait. He could market his content like everyone else but he doesn't exaggerate with the "Can I beat Pokemon FireRed". His reactions are so much more realistic and watchable compared to most. I have nothing but respect for Sonikks.

Fire Red and Leaf Green are my favorite Pokémon games by far. Grew up playing them and still play them to this day! Loved the video

I started with Blue but my favorite game in the whole series is Leafgreen. I absolutely love these remakes for the first generation. You finishing this DTQ makes me want to finish mine. 🙌
I played through my copy of Fire Red a year ago and Soft Reset for Shiny Deoxys. I was blessed with a very quick hunt. 2 days of resetting to get it. (I don't track resets lol) Just this past month I got a Japanese copy of Emerald and taught myself to RNG manipulate on it. Was such an amazing experience getting a full shiny dream team to beat the game with.
Gen 3 was also "The Dark Ages" for Pokémon in my friend group. We were in middle school and girls, sports and M rated video games became what was "Cool" socially. My brother was way longer than me and if it wasn't for him making me still play Pokémon through that time when none of my friends were I would not be playing today.

Loved the new vibe to the compilation montage b4 the elite 4! In regards to my stance on FRLG, I'm 100% picking up on what ur saying, lonely times but the birth of a nostalgic genius game. FRLG are absolutely the definition of timeless games that connect us now more than ever.

frlg probably has the best post game content, but i can't say that for sure because i don't remember any gen 5 post game, I need to replay through it!
I know it doesn't technically count as post game but swsh crown tundra dlc does make for some fun "post-game" content.

Amazing video Steve! I loved the compilation highlighting all the hunts leading up. Also, I LOVE how good Charizard looks in FRLG, almost has that galaxy blue tint to it's colour. Thank you for always putting out top-tier content and truly being one of the premier shiny hunter's out there!

After watching it a second time, i gotta say i would prefer seeing the attack moves animations. i dont mind the extra time it takes.
I actually kinda like the breaking TMs and limited move pools in these games. It makes you use different moves other than the usual powerful TMs like psychic and ice beam, and also makes you think about who you give the TMs to. You may have to play around with moves you’ve never used before

I love how you learned glare doesn't affect gengar in the first battle but still went for it against gengar in the second battle lol
I don't know how it would work or look, but some sort of small 20 min ish documentary on shiny hunting would be cool. I think something like that coming from you would be really cool to see! I don't really know what phases ;) shiny hunting has gone through, but maybe a timeline of shiny hunting and how it has evolved would be a cool project.

Great video. Idk why, but recently I’ve just been so appreciative of FRLG. Leafgreen was my first video game I actually owned and I’m getting some pretty big nostalgia vibes. I’m almost done completing the national dex in gen 3 and I cannot appreciate these games enough. Thanks for always keeping things alive.

And to answer the question, my favourite post-game is probably FR/LG. It ties in with the story and a lot of things to do compared to the others.
Also, a trainer card quest would be fun!
I'm trying to 100% my Heartgold in all ways possible. One is to get my Pokewalker maxed out and get that Starf berry, get the last card star from the battle frontier, win all the Pokeathlon trophies and all events with all 493 Pokemon, all coloured prints, fill all 30 Hall of Fame slots, max my money on my card and with my mothers storage, all seals maxed out, and I'm also trying to get to 999 of all (reasonable) Pokeballs legit. So far all the Apricorn balls are atleast 150+. It's certainly.. a journey.. I do regret starting it in a way, but it would be nice to 100% my first ever Pokemon savefile.

Metal claw charizard was wild back then. If you transfer it up to current play it really surprises online players 🤣 btw I agree with your item finder comment! It is wild how many pp ups and rare candies are there in the whole map!

To answer some of your questions:
Yes, I like gen 3 a lot! This is also the 'lonely' age for kid me, but adult me sometimes maks new memories with these titles. Love to challenge friend to Lv.55, linking up to the Gamecube and battle in 3D or just simply wireless somewhere we meet.
My to go gens are 1/4, stopped playing newer games since gen 5.
Heartgold and Soulsilver are my favorites I think, but honestly it's a tough call.
The Stadium mini games are also very much fun :3
This is an amazing culmination of work and dedication to the FRLG shiny hunting community. Honestly you should get a Wreath and medal 🥇!!!

PD: U talked about challenges, maybe you could do a shinylocke or somehting like that i would definitley watch it. Nuzlocke but u can only use shiny pokemon (full odds shinies) or a similar challenge that involves getting shinies could be interesting

The FRLG postgame is great, but I love the USUM postgame too, with Team Rainbow Rocket, also HGSS is really nice if you count that.

Great to hear your thoughts on FR/LG, I feel exactly the same. Actually on my own DTQ in LG right now, resetting for Charmander myself, always wanted a shiny Charizard, never had one. Not sure about the rest of the team yet! There's my pointless comment of the day :P
I really liked the complication recap at the beginning, I hope you do more of them! Throwing in those RP elements was a really nice touch. A couple things I'd enjoy seeing added to them:
Show the counters for each specific shiny separately, in addition to the total count that you displayed.
Maybe also share your reactions to getting each shiny? It might break up the story telling vibe too much, but just a thought.

I really hated Oak in this game. His grandson became the strongest trainer in the world and he only came to tell him he was disappointed in him. Shows favoritism to someone who isn't even friend or family. Grandson didn't deserve that.

Yeah, Glare doesn't work on Ghost types for Gen 2 and 3, but works on them in Gen 4 onwards I believe
Fairy-type shiny challenge would be fun to attempt in Sun and Moon :) I just ordered myself a copy on EBay for Leaf Green so I'm excited to play through it again (not sure if it's legit but hopefully it is).

I just gotta say, I absolutely love your videos.
You remind me of myself back when I used to shiny hunt! The way you go into detail to explain the reasoning behind your hunts...I watched a lot of your other videos. Like your video where you got that shiny Wailord using that glitch where you can bike hop on the water. Even the little details like making sure you have a Pokemon that has Damp so that a pokemon can't use Self-Destruct, or Suction Cups so that the pokemon can't use Roar or Whirlwind.
On top of that, you're hunting for 1/8192 shinies! In this day and age with all the tricks and shortcuts, people these days just try to pump out content as fast as possible...but what's so special about a shiny 1/1000 shiny? Not my cup of tea....

Keep up the 1/8192 hunts man. I know it exactly what it takes to get them. I used to be big in the shiny hunting community over a decade ago. Going over odds was par for the course.
You've done some really cool hunts, too! You're braver than me, going to look for shinies in the Safari Zone so frequently, lol.
Hearing this music gives me so much nostalgia....would hear this music playing all day during the summers. Random encountering all day, applying repels, hunting on 4-5 GBAs or DSs at a time...life was so simple back then.

FR was my first ever Pokemon game, I finally found my first copy plus one (don't know where the second copy came from but I'm not complaining about being able to double hunt the starter). But I'm going for:
Charmander
Oddish
Voltorb
Seel
Doduo
Hitmonlee
I love shiny Dragonair way more than Dragonite, but I think the colours green and purple don't clash well, like blue and purple, or green and black might be nicer.
Also the shiny looks better in some sprite where the colour is darker, like if it had a darker green or even a different colour on the belly I might like it more

I'm pretty sure the elite four in HGSS has a round 2 with upgraded teams. Some of them have sinnoh mons notably koga with skuntank
Yeah I lpayed leafgreen it was actually my first pokemon game ever and last year I hunted a shiny Chrmander on my original cartrage :D
I still to this day have not played FRLG and I don't know why. I think I missed out on it back in the day cause my family was too poor, lol.
I think they get 3 poitons and one status heal, but some like the champ get 4 potions
Do you intend to make a LeafGreen Version with opposite Pokemon to your team. Kinda like:
- Bulbasaur
- Sandthrew
- Vaporeon
- Kabuto
- Staryu
- whatever you like
you should do a vs battle between your firered and ruby dtq files
