This is the Peugeot e-208! It’s almost identical to the recently released 208, only unlike the regular small hatchback, it’s all-electric! Hiding within the e-208 you’ll find a 50kWh battery pack and a 126hp electric motor, and you can expect to achieve a range of around 217 miles in it. As for the price? Well, it doesn’t come cheap, starting at around £29,000 - and that’s after UK buyers receive a £3,000 government grant for buying electric! So does this new player have what it takes to beat already established EVs such as the Nissan Leaf or Renault Zoe? Join Mat for this review to find out!

What do you think - can you name a better car for under £30k?!
1987 Ford Sierra
Mazda 3
Used Tesla Model 3 from Canada
Mini electric. it’s just better
Its a decent one and a good opponent for the Zoe
Hi Matt, you should do a video of all the cars you recommended to "just go out and buy".
This is brilliant.
Yes please

. NOT, NOT, NOT ... Peuge-NOT.

Yes please in all price brackets
We all know that some day Carwow "Stick of Truth" will retire...😭
Not while fake exhaust is living and breathing.
NEVER!!
Carwow stick of truth is not gonna retire because vents
Will survive by aerodinamic fake flaps
Cable of truth.
Peugeot did a great job with this for the value proposition compared to any other similarly sized competitor

carwow hi :D
Niveau qualité intérieure c’est pas la meilleure, la clio V est meilleur la deçu !
lol at Carole Baskin coming up in the google search predictive text box when typing in Carwow
When you are talking about fuel effecy can you also tell it in liters and range in kilometres
UK is weird, they use both metric and imperial as he did for different things in this video, so no one would really understand them, because AFAIK every other country use either this or that and never combined.
How would you express the electric energy it uses in liters? :D
I mean on other rewiews of disel and petrol
Its easy enough to work out the calculation yourself fella
@@Cookie2k but it would be easy if he sad it
This new RUclips's filter on the progress bar of the video is amazing!
Well, i think it’s just labeling sections of the video based on the time stamps in the description. Probably the only good feature RUclips added in a year.
I had a 207 diesel as my first car so have a soft spot for Peugeot
Yeah
@@galaxy5801 Yeah
Never ever I would want to own a Peugeot after the costs and desasters I had with my 205 gti back in the days. Never a French car for me!
Wow you got your first car at 75 years of age? #peugeotdrivers
@@jochem1986 what do you mean 75 lol I was 17
I don't know if Matt or the team will see this
but I really appreciate the extra effort made to timestamp the video
definitely include this in other reviews
as french, it's a pleasure to see Peugeot on Carwow

On est là !!!! Les français!!!
Champion du mooooonde !!!!
Hasn't it been sold to Fca? 😢
Et oui petit !!!
One thing I on't see mentioned often is that the new Peugeot light designs look very cool on the road at night. It gives the car a really distinctive look in the dark. Good job Peugeot.
I test drove the e208 and immediately ordered it. Still waiting for delivery though. Obviously very popular.
How long ago did you order it?
I did exactly the same. I’ve been told October for mine but I ordered just before lockdown.
@@savedfaves April
@@kaaijer nice
How is it? Is it worth getting?
My answer to the title is yes.
I've test driven a few EVs now. For the price this is the best all rounder I've driven. The range is the best of all in the price range that I've tested, it's got a nice interior and feels like a nice place to be, it is nippy and fun to drive. Lots of cabin storage space (although the glove compartment is tiny), could do with a little more leg room and head room if you're over 6'0" (my head was touching the roof when i sat up straight (slightly unnaturally but still) and my knees in the back of the seat in front but my feet could go beneath the seat with the floor being flat.
I agree with the 5 annoying things, especially the alarm but the reversing camera isn't really an issue for me though as I've never needed anything to help me reverse park before so sod the camera.
I think I'd go for the Allure model, just seems the best value for money, you don't get enough to justify the boost in cost between the allure and the gt line in my personal opinion.
The MG ZS EV has been sold to me as the "best budget ev" but when i got a quote it was about the same cost as the e208 and although it's bigger the roof rails aren't standard and it's uglier, less luxurious inside and much less fun to drive. Practicality as a family car though, people might be right, but for me, the range is more important than that extra bit of boot space.
"7.5kWh Charger" and "100kWh Charger" have really triggered me... 7.5kW and 100kW please, Matt! It MATTers -- power vs energy (power times time)!
I love the disgust on his face when he said the entry level car comes with steel wheels.
Tbh cars shouldn't really come with steel wheels anymore we live in the 21st century
I’m fine with steel wheels. It just depends on what they look like. They are cheaper to replace when damaged or curbed.
@@kierenhook4387 agreed
Deep dish steelies look great
Anirudha Nayak Do you mean hubcaps? They’re terrible. They fall off and then all u see it a brown rusted wheel
That alarm sounds like something from the Jetsons.
Matt, do a drag race and braking test between the e208, new Zoe and Ioniq. I'm really curios how they stack up against each other.
FYI Matt charging power is measured in kW not kWh, which is used for battery capacity (number of kW you can deliver continuously for 1 hour)
My first car was a 4th hand Peugeot 207 diesel hdi with over a 100k and that car is still going today. I think Peugeot diesels are some of the most economical around and can really last if looked after. Im seriously considering the new diesel 208 as I don't think I'm going to be disappointed. Thanks Matt for your reviews keep them coming!
I loved the part where you hammered on the door and yelled "Shut Up!" 😂😂
1:37 Yeah matt, it'll always stay new
3:54 I love that "Leaf" in the front grill
I hear Peugeot and just think of Clarkson saying maniac, maniac, maniac 😅
Peugeot today is so much better though
yobbo... 😂😂😂
sushi777300 It ´s the terrible revenge of peugeot on top gear , sometimes the critic is good to wake up
although Jezza did say the 205 GTi was the best hothatch of its day. Beating the Golf and Renault 5 turbo. So he can't have hated Pugs that much!
Dude I can still see some fossils driving Peugeot 404 diesel around my city, and I ve heard that car was pretty often used as a taxi back in days. I mean, Peugeot do know how to make diesels and French know how to make cars, example: Renault produce engines for Merc A/B class, and even more Merc has a stake in Renault, so I would like peeps to stop talking against frenches they better than American cars 🤔
Shout out to all of the cool cats and kittens @0:26
Had a great nostalgic flashback when Mat mentioned the 205 GTi. I loved my 1.9. Went like a bullet :)
Lovely car. I ownedca red 1.9GTI with the leather and large sunroof- loved it
Matt do a review of the new Zoe ZE50 and Honda E please and compare it to the e208. Ta 👍🏻
George Wong he will not do that he’ll just ignore you for 4 months I’ve been begging for a new vauxhall corsa review but he never made one just concentrating on his stupid 208 it is the same as the corsa so I wonder why he is refusing to review it 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
With the glove compartment of a right hand drive, the cubby hole is nearest the driver and the manual actually goes to the left. Manual fits just fine Matt.
Matts videos are so awesome such that this is the first video I,ve liked under 5k likes. Thanks for the videos during the lockdown.
I love the new Peugeot desing language.👌❤
French language??
@@JP-xd6fm Maybe, I like Renault desing too, but I don't really like DS desing.
Danny López Calderón ....ffs it’s design pal
I always wanted an electric car but couldn't afford it. Thanks for letting me know of this possibility 👍🏽
Hi. Great channel ! Would appreciate it if you talked this year about the available commercial solutions (if any...) and the price for replacing the electric batteries in all these EV or phev cars. Just did a Tesla Model 3 test drive in Europe and as of now, battery replacement is 20 000 EUR. Doesn't this simply rule out these cars beyond their warranty deadline or as pre-owned cars for the greatest majority of people ? As of today what guarantee is there to have a compatible commercially available and affordable solution to replace the EV / PHEV battery beyond 160 000 kms or 8 years let's say ? Best.
Amazing review thank you, I very much like your car review method, because you are Describing each and every aspect especially rates and milage . Keep it all 😁😂😀
Awesome video Mat! I wish we’d get Peugeot in the US!😸😸
Great Review of a good car
And you’re not really knocking it even though it’s a Peugeot 👍🏻
Well Done Matt 🙏🏻
I bought a 2020 Peugeot 3008GT in Mexico based on Mat's recommendation and 1.5 years later, we still love it! If he says buy it....
I like the way how carwow started replying as many comments as possible
Agreed.
Many comments but not this one 😨😨
@@sergio3674 Exactly 😐
Except yours...
Never driven a Peugeot before. Test drove this earlier in the month and absolutely loved it. Like getting in a go-kart.
Put an order in that day.
How do you find it, a year on?
I like the styling of the car, it looks really good
I find super cute Mat pretending typing on his phone, but at the same time grinds my gears XD
Hey is there a chance you could review the Renualt Koleos 2020?
Lmao. That engine cover could be hiding a Diesel engine like that Cars movie
The glovebox is BIG when you have the wheel on left side.
Should be big on both sides
I think it's a great car but going to wait to see your review of the VW ID3 before choosing.
Can you review the new vauxhall corsa built on the same platform? I'm curious about diffrences in drving if their are any.
Such a beautiful car. Bravo Peugeot 👏👏
I love mine, literally not one complaint.
Hi Matt any review plan with the polestar 2?
Im really looking for that car🙂
How does it handle very steep inclines (from a dead stop)? I live in a mountainous area and have to use 1st gear to get up some of these hills in a gas car.
Fun fact, even if an electric car model looks the same as the petrol one (for any given model), here, in Quebec, EVs have green plates instead of the normal blue ones, meaning that, whether you want it or not, your car is always screaming "look at me, I'm electric!".
The same in the UK now where the EV plates have a green strip down the side.
But regulations in some regions also require clear badging to signal High Voltage Electric Power Train. Incase of Emergency for First Responders. Soo going fully incognito is not an option.
When are you going to review the new fiat 500e
They'll probably wait until feat launch all trim levels, rarther than just the top of the range versions
Ooooh you kinda cute
Hopefully never😂
C J Why? HATER!!!
Whenever they start making good cars
Great video guys 👌
At wich temperature works one electric engine? I,m asking because if you go in bike by the city and then you stop to close of one car your body temperature increase to fast?
Finally, Peugeot is producing well made cars. After the 508 also the 208.
It's fricking beautiful!!!
I would really want to see a review of the vw ID3 when it comes out
Hi Matt you really need to review the Honda e. Really look forward to your video on it!
That alarm when opening the door...I couldn't live with that!.
Why is that even a thing?
What a stunning looking car I really love Peugeot's designs lately, they keep nailing it.
Except the Interior...I sat in a 508 recently and the interior quality is just awfully cheap, my almost 30 year old 309 and 306 have way more luxurious interiors than a new executive car.
I somehow prefer the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa-e. I think it's due to the gloss black wheel arches on the Peugeot. I'm pretty sure they're not going to stay gloss black. They will eventually become scratched and matte so you'll end up with the jacked up Crossover look.
the alarm bit 😂😂😂😂 your too funny
Possibly the fastest click in my loooong RUclips viewer career 😂 love the new 208!
Great choice ;)
Nandos please delete your comment
Beside the fuel-savings (& massive GH-gas-reduction), the greatest advantage of an EV (for me) is its low-cost & low-risk of maintenance; & the reviewer has NOT mentioned it!
WOW! Matt's fingers are really moving on that phone display :)))) 11:57
Great thanks mat! I am hesitating between this and the Opel Corsa E. Are you planning to review it?
This Pegeuot looks cute :)
”Everyone loves Teslas”
No I dont love those ugly computers on wheels
I'm definitely not a fan of Tesla.
A brand that makes subtle cars.Good job Peugeot. That moment Matt is "typing" in carwow on his smartphone.Priceless
Can you do a race between 720S, 992 Turbo S, and gt2rs? Should be really interesting and will get tons and tons of views
Hey Matt, I really enjoy your videos but as a non-british person I'm getting confused with the miles and miles per gallon thing. It would be really cool if you show the km and L/100km for fuel consuption in the future videos too. 🧐
Just wish Peugeot could bring their cars to the US.
you really ain't losing anything .. reliability zero.. it's French.. all nice and shiny but shit quality.. talking from experience.. and now they bought Opel/Vauxhall too :( :(
@@crismam1531 Most people I know who own Peugeot are fairly happy with their cars so yoir experience is not necessarily a good representation.
I have Got the E208GT premium what a fantastic car and lots of toys i’ve had it just over two weeks …I have had lots of diesel and petrol cars in my life different size engines, but this is something else charging is easy lots and lots of charging points don’t be afraid to go electric Enjoy ps and I am 73 …Love it…..
does anyone know how to divide the video into sections? (intro, electric motor, 0-60, etc)
@carwow im looking to buy either the regular 208 or the 2020 Renault Clio, when will you compare these two?
Or atleast review the Clio?
I’d love to see a review of the new hybrid clip
500 kgs heavier that the standard one?! woooow, i was expecting to be heavier, but not by half a fucking tone :O
Rather buy a Standard one
Whats wrong with the digital drivers display? The speedo is on top of the gear selection and other info??
Could you please make a video about its Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go Function on the motorway? Thanks again..
When your talking about speed and fuel can you do it in litres and kilometres.
Nonga Big Man please!

Love the E208 but I've had a Zoe ZE40 for three year, only cost £18k after checking Carwow (battery owned not leased). The new version of that while better and the E208 come in at £26K plus for half decent spec now. I thought EVs were meant to get cheaper over time. Just sold the Zoe and bought an 8 year old Mercedes SLK for £2500 less than I got for my Zoe. A step backwards in many ways but I wanted a fun convertible and think EVs will come down in price once the battery shortage is overcome. Hopefully someone will make a reasonably priced electric sports car or convertible saloon one day. It will take a while I imagine given that the world is SUV mad at the moment. The Fiat 500 doesn't count as a convertible in my opinion.
Wow , is it available in Munich ?
Great car I have one but the real range is 160 - 180 miles. 👍
Curious... why such a big difference from what it was rated for?
@@mulox1, these vehicles are really affected and negatively impacted by the weather and ambient temperature. The 217 quoted miles is achievable in the summer. 👍

I love how Carole Baskin gets into everything...
I own a Nissan Qashqai, which is having a small repair on a wheel at Ace Car care in Shrewsbury. As a courtesy car I have one of these e208 GT's. I think it's great, and it's in that Faro Yellow, it really suits it. Peugeot have done a great job on it. It's almost as comfortable as our Nissan (in some ways better). We couldn't live with it though due to issues getting in and out of cars due to bone issues and spinal injuries, hence the Qashqai. If we didn't have those problems and had the money for one, it would be a great little car to own.
If they want people to move into electric vehicles you have only two choices; do it the Tesla way or simply make electric cars so damn cheap that you are forced to have one.
Selling slow charging mid-quality poorly powered hatchbacks for 30k€ (or more) ain't the correct choice. But they probably knew that already.
Please do a test between the new Audi A8l vs new BMW 7-Series vs new Mercedes S-class vs new Jaguar XJ vs new Lexus LS vs new Kia K900 vs new Genesis G90.
Like if u agree.

Buying an electric is spending more money for less car
It's just virtue signalling. No environmental benefit when you consider full lifecycle including minimum batteries.
Depends on where you live. In Germany people get 9k of their money back when buying an electric currently. Makes them decent value
@@markc6714 Nonsense. You need to raise your awareness.
Maybe, this kind of fake ev’s with a small engine fitted on the fosil engine are disgusting. However a Tesla model 3 could be a good purchase, nice exterior, clean interior, not high quality products but good charge points infrastructure, but quite expensive
@@adrirm7645 "Fake ev" tf is the point ?
I’ve bought one of these. It costs less than the 300bhp petrol Audi that I had . Off the line to about 30mph it’s pretty much just as fast. Nobody follows me home now to see where I park so they can steal it. My fuel bill is now zero instead of over £120 per month because I live near a free charger. I’ve got Apple CarPlay which I didn’t have before and there’s no more having to pay Audi for map updates. Waze gives me instant traffic information. My insurance is less. It’s a different kind of fun, go test drive one. I drove the E Tron and the Tesla M3P but chose the e208 because it does what I want, looks good and costs way less than those. I like that it looks almost the same as the ICE versions, I didn’t want to drive a fashion experiment. And the best bit is the cool yellow paint is the no cost option. Well played Peugeot.
