The guy who gives you the quest also sells food that gives you unlimited stamina. It makes the climb to Zu faster and speeds up the whole farming process.
Although continuously jumping is faster than sprinting :)
There is a slope that consumes stamina when you climb the mountain. You'll slide back down if you run out of stamina and you can't jump during that or do the stamina refill trick.
/facepalm..... if you fast travel between the rest point at Zu and the car at the rest stop there's no point to that.... you only have to climb once.
Dunno about current condition of the game (my initial comment was 2 months ago) but loading times were unbearable when I did that on a normal PS4. And it was more time-consuming than doing it normally.
you dont have to go back the shop and complete the mob hunt, just go back to entrance after beating Zu and teleport back to the camp site and run down the same path, you will see the same cut scene again, which is faster than go back to the shop.
On xbox 1 the old farming method still works with patch.1.Select hunt and climb to campsite2. Camp and continue on to fight Zu3. As soon as Zu is eliminated when available, click return to entrance4. Walk forward till Dungeon local appears on left5. Return to last Resting area and bam good to go.I also find if you have the new ring Armiger accelerator on and the perks to break appendages. Just use the enemies before Zu fight to fill the Armigermeter by holding the dodge button. While you fight Zu, try to break his beak or parry the Air attack to cause vulnerability and go to town with ur Armiger attack. I use just over half the meter up and beat Zu in about 60 secs or less. I am level 85 though so may take longer for lower levels. Thanks for reading and love this informative channel. Subbed
You dont' need 99 Fire to make Flare, you need to use at least 10 Zu beaks to reach 999 potency (the more beaks you put, the more spells you can put in one flask). You only need 69 of Fire element. Less when you get the 555 cost AP skill that raises potency 50 points (let alone the 999 AP skill that raises it 100). Only need 49 Fire once you get the 555 AP skill. That'll save on running around to refill it.
It might be smart to mention the drop rate is better when attacking the beak, my first 2 times he only droped Zu tender, than I consistently got it after breaking the beak.

Adamantoise with the ring of lucii can be killed in 10 minutes and gives you adamantite with 9 adamantite you get 99 uses of limit break level 99 potency 999...Zu beaks is hard to get you need 9 of them and it gives you like 15 uses...

Set up: Mace, Sword of the Father, Crossbow. Hypno Crown (300), Accessories (250 & 200). The food for Magic and 0 Strength. Magic consumable. The outfit for damage on.
In theory that should be a 2 shot.
Save before the fight and use the load spawn method to not waste spells.
he is invulnerable to limit break magic i think. i am currently farming 5 chain spells. and thunder element spells always hits him with 9999. so with 5 chain spells you could do almost 50k in theory lol.
nvm forget my theory sometimes i hit with 5 to 7k 5 times. sometimes 5 times with 50. i didnt use any food tho. i used 200 potency quintcast.
but my blizzard limit break spell (999) hit with 13k and the only magic boost i used was an item. no accessories

Funny thing is you don't even need to turn in the quest if you just want to farm zu and don't care about the money

No, neither are necessary. Zu Beaks grant about 100 extra potency for each added to the spell flask, and typically you end up using 10 because it gives you 2 extra casts over 9. So that's 999 potency and 17 casts for just 1 unit of fire, ice, or lightning, even with base skilltree ascension.
That's what I wanted to hear :) I'm glad I "only" have to grind to unlock limit breaks for Gladiolus, Prompto and Ignis.

Does anyone know if a higher potency for the healcast increases the heals or just damage?
i think the potency is just damage that the spell will do. The amount of health recovered by spell is determined by the level that's written underneath. Healcast lvl 99 i think it will say.

Legitimate Commentator I did it at lvl 2/3. It's unlocked as a part of the story, not as a side quest thingy.
Do the gladio - noodle quest choosing the egg option, once u finish the noodle quest the hunt quest will be aviable
The hunt isn't unlocked for me. I just got to rank 4. I'm at end game but it's still not there. Are there any pre-requisites before I get the hunt?
MisterTeeLow maybe you should do the other hunts the guy offers also do hunts on different locations hops it helps
MisterTeeLow you have to get to ch 8 them go to lestalm and go near the cup noodles store and u get the mission the perfect cup and once u are done go to the volcano area and the hunt is unlocked
isnt it best to create the top tier spells with the wind up lord vexxos item? It also gives the player 53 casts...
even with two of them (99spells) the actual dmg is below 99999. got 40 to 60k. still sick tho.

now that i am further into the game it depends more on the enemy than anything else. and to get 999 potency or close (what i did crafting my first few) is fucking unnessesary. 400 to 500 is more than enough to hit 99999 in most cases but it depends on the enemy. dark enemys most likely have high magic resistance.
has this been patched? all I'm getting is Zu Tenders, got 3 beaks the first time, now nothing but tenders
I think u gotta do a breakage in the head at least 1 time while figthing in order to get them

alfasilverblade There's a glitch to do it, problem is that you can't change her gear, and she doesn't get buffs from the Ascension unlocks.
Adamntoise is a lot slower but you get 99 spells faster
So i've got like a... 0% drop rate for the zu beak. Wtf why is this?
