Do you need op weapons to beat the main quest? Cmon, you can just spam potions trough the whole game.
ryutheslayer123 Nope...The weapons prepare you for the costlemark's seal door...Where you can't use potions...Well...you can but if you combine magic with potion but this will not help so much...But without the best weapons and lvl 90 or higher you can't make the Costlemark.....
I prefer the Gaze of the Vortex. It's the strongest sword in the game thanks to its passive abilities, and being able to stay airborne literally forever in combat is so much fun.

@@mistermaada you can get it where you get the GF summon Garuda. Also there is a node on the ascension grid that gives you unlimited air steps. You can use that to stay airborne, but it costs a lot

There were game guides back then... stop it. the prima guide was very popular back then. To me back then, buying A JRPG along side with a thic ass game guide went together like bread and butter...It was THE way to play those game back then.

Sword: Gaze Of The Vortex
Greatsword: Dominator

Few years late but disagree on greatsword
There's 3, Afrosword for single big enemies
Duel code for small single enemies
Hyperion for several enemies
I managed to get my hands on the Ultima weapon very early on the game, and it carried me through a good chunk of the game before I needed to get a weapon that was stronger, just felt like I should mention it.
I think balmung and the sword of the vortex are the only stronger one handed swords

The ring of lucii is more powerful than anything on the list. Max your magic ability and you will be Able to instantly kill any enemy. Adamantoise and naglfar included. Not to mention it does wonders for the item less dungeon vault "menace in costlemark" although it's the most powerful weapon in the game. (Nothing else comes close) it can ruin the gameplay experience. I wouldn't recommend using it unless your really stuck on something

Death Penalty can also be obtained at Chapter 8+ by defeating a lvl 99 Monster on the quest "Oh Partner , my Partner" where you go to Vespool during the night and have to fight a Naked Lady wrapped on a 2 headed snake. (I done it at lvl 99 and she was a handful, had to spam Hi-elixirs / Max-elixirs / Max-potions / Remedy / Golden Needle / Antidotes so Be READY for a hardcore fight.)
Before I finally gave up, I finally had her hp nearly depleted. One more successful warp strike would’ve finished it. I planed my move and right before my attack landed, THE GD SUN CAME UP!!!

Death Penalty is also given from the Hunter that tasks you of killing a Daemon in the Vesperpool that is lvl 99. You can get the quest at lower levels too. I am sure this isn't any big news however.
Balmung deals LESS damage the less MP your have, not more. It's proportional. :D

In FFXV doing that would literally mean you were throwing monster energy drinks at the monsters, because that's what potions are in FFXV.

after the terra wars quest, sarah's shot sword is suuuuuuper fun to use in combination with the magitek exosuit to end fights without being damaged at all
I’ve never used it, cuz I’ve always had stronger by the time I did that quest I never checked out passive abilities either
I would say my favorite weapon is the Ultima Blade, weaker than Balmung but it's still beastly since you can get it early game and it has the same bonus as Drain Lance.
You can also get death penalty from the lvl 99 snake lady
Yeah indeed. I also found that battle to be easier with Prompto. You can hide between the trees and shoot the hell out of her.
Roman Correa yeah I cheesed it with the Magitek Exosuit. That suit is so broken.
Taking into account that the suit only works 30min per 24hrs you need a decent level to confront melusine before dawn comes otherwise you need to repeat from the start ....kinda happened to me btw some kind of bug deleted my accessory xtra slots and weapon abilities (yet make me able to get 9999 hp )

Oh, I actually celebrated the 200 Lightning evades with my mom hahaha. We had been trying to get this for a few days. I was in the hospital at the time, but it was so worth playing the game with my mom.

I had almost all of these weapons apart from the Apocalypse weapon from Balouvre dungeon, thanks for that. Also the Zwill Crossblades became my favourite weapon to use near the end of my playthrough, they are amazing!
That last one with the dragon and that fucking puzzle dungeon was fucking painful. Godamn red giants were harder to kill than the boss jabermonkey or whatevr.

All weapons obtained a while ago but the best one personally when speeding running I use Zwill Crossblades for fast kills on weaker mobs. In groups of mobs dungeon wise clearing with Apocalypse is so much more fun when I can hit multiple enemies at once. I really wanted to see really nice weapon rewards from some of the hardest hunts. That would be quite exciting. I just can’t wait for The DLC’s to come now after Ardyn. I can’t help but feel bad for him.
I have a greatsword equipped called the dominator, it does 583 attack and is found as treasure around duscae.
My favourite is Balmung (or Ultima) because I like the idea of Noctis returning to his unique category so the others can have best in class too. But Zwill Crossblades is fast and good for warp strikes too. And there's nothing quite like the area of effect on the Shield of the Just when backtracking through low level areas!

I keep the shield equipped just for the bonuses lol but I've never actually used it. It's good to know though usually I just vacuum low level ads with the Ring of the Lucii
If you prefer to use swords a lot with Noctis you might consider to equip Ragnarok for performing warp strikes. While performing a warpstrike it dwarves the damage of the Balmung.

You can skip some rooms if you're lucky, when I did it there were square rooms whose doors/gates were close enough that I could warp past them before they closed, using daggers, any other weapon is too slow.
Lol well I have fun doing the combat in this game so that is my definition of fun. I love those dungeons. Well most of them. Two of them were nightmares. But I love just waves and waves of enemies. Good practice

Just for anybody curious About the balmung dungeon it is LONG and when i say long i mean LONG its like 50 layers i went in as level 63 and came out level 82 and i didnt rest at qualdin quey or that place in altissia i slept in the tents and if i didnt do that id prolly be level 100 rn AND go in with max potions and elixirs trust me ur gonna need them
ring of lucii kills everything (with the exception of ardyn and a few dungeon enemies) so once youve got that youre pretty much set. every other weapon you get after that is pretty much just for show, but are still way more fun to use. I use zwill crossblades, ultima blade, airstep sword (fun af) and the dominator sword i think it is. not the best weaposn but im in it for the experience not the grind.
Maybe I have misunderstood from the start, but doesn't Balmung deal less damage the less MP you have? The text is very poorly worded, but I have always read it 'as MP declines, lethality declines'. But it is also the first time I heard the 4% figure and am curious about it.

For those lightsaber tonberries, I used holy from the ring and timed my dodges to do a max damage counter. That's how I fought them, I couldn't fight them regularly as they would scitter and jump about everywhere stabbing you and doing lightsaber dances, I would get knocked too often fighting with weapons.
i only have the sword of the tall at the moment, but it feels so Nice to use it. the best weapon in the game is nothing if it doesnt match your fighting styl.

The best swords in the game are annoying to get but you have to beat Garuda in the ff14 collaboration. They work especially well with air attacks.
3:22 totally was though. I just exploited The Clever’s Talisman and the fact that impaling Mictlantecihuatl enough while flying will make him drop in a vulnerable state. Two VStates are all that’s needed if P has 1248Atk
My favourite to use is hardedge, especially when farming for loot to sell

Actually the Ultima blade does around 360ish, damage, Balmung has 446, but loses 4 points for every 1% of MP lost, so if you're missing just a little over 20% of you're MP, you're doing less damage than the Ultima weapon already

Well it depends on build but Nyx Daggers still need to be mentioned in this list !! All-rounded Dagger which can use both for stats booster and damage dealer. Beside that this dagger is one of the eassiest weapon to be missed in game. With Spear type weapon, in my opinion The Vigilantes is better than Flayer.
ton of fun I had descending 100 floors in the Steyliff Dungeon!
I feel like the sword of the mythic is pretty rad due to its warp strikes shooting out projectiles.
Try the one from Ardyn, it's the red version instead of blue.. plus it doesn't consume your health, super awesome! Love shooting the projectiles and then warp strike!
2:15 I was so dead bored tired when I reached the final level. Don’t remember if I got the sword or not from the Tonberry’s. If not, I’m already done with dungeons. Can’t even stand the thought of doing another one.
I have the Sword of the Tall, but I wasn't using it because of all the negative stats. Now that I know about that serrated edge though.

the reason people dont use it due to it drain your hp at a very fast paced fix that and your golden if you can get 3 black choker and eat golden tail soup if you dont have it you can eat any dish the give a high hp regen is good

sword of the tall is faster than most great swords to and fun to use but make sure you bring lots on curatives it can be tough but the end boss was so much easier than the tower its self
I usually don’t give apocalypse to gladio because he doesn’t get the extra bonus on the sword usually. What I would do is equip royal arms on Noctis and then Having the apocalypse sword equipped, I’ll do massive damage because of me being low from the royal arms.. then use gladio’s royal guard tech or ignis regroup or regenerate to get healed up... I usually give gladio the afrosword or the genji blade...

You get them after completing the normal dungeons. (I can't name all dungeons, sorry.)
daurell caverns, costlemark tower,balouve mines and crestholm channels complete them all and after that go to the hunter outpost HQ. and get the quest from ezma
+The Legendary Shu - once you are in chapter 15 speak with the woman sitting in a chair at the Hunter outpost. I'm saying this from memory so excuse my vagueness. But u do have to be in chapter 15 if I am not mis taken. Head to the only location with Hunter in its name which is in the north of the map. If u drive around the roads leading to the Vesperpool you should find the outpost. Look for an NPC that is sitting in a chair on her porch near the western part of the outpost. She will give you the challenge and the key in question. if u can't find her, respond to our post and I will get u better details with actual names and pictures if needed. :-) Cheers mate!
I remember on my first play-through, I beat Melusine with all the guys being Lv.60~ before departing for Altissa. Had to call it a day after getting my ass kicked about an hour in, and beat her the following day after a 30 minute fight.
I thought she’d be a walk in the park with Garuda doing a fair amount of damage on her, but realized the shit I was faced with when she only did like 1 point of damage.
Anyways, she dropped Death Penalty and found it pretty easy to beat the game with it on Prompto. For the next play-through, I hope to add more challenge towards the end of the game.

Ive done some testing and Gaze The Vortex > Balmung and Plume of the Vortex> Zwill
There is not a single guide, build setup post or anything related to the vortex weapons on the entire internet, since they appear to be included later on the game, but imo they seem to be the best hitting weapons in the game since they crit all the time, thus discarding the need of eating crit guaranteed food and allowing for pure base str foods
Plus, Ragnarok just seems to be the best/easyest choice of hard hitting, often hitting 11-50k on enemies dependeing on their defense, on menance dungeons hitting an average of 15-20k with non crit food with the Warp Strike spamming
I have all the weapons you listed above. Fighting that Demon for the Zwills was a nightmare. I was only level 79 fighting a 109 Demon, but I did it. Oh and that turtle I fought at lvl 76 and it took me an hour & a half to defeat him, my hands were killing me after that fight

I already had the Zwill Crossblades, Ziedrich, and the Sword of the Tall. Just went through and got Balmung, Apocalypse, Death Penalty, and Flayer in one go.
Mictlantecihuatl is actually the name of the Aztec god of death
You can also easily get the death penalty pistol for doing the quest "O' Partner My Partner" and killing the boss, you will gain this from the boss
i actually figured out a trick to the thunder plains that keep you mentally fresh, since you can pause it at any time i had a counter on my phone that tracked my successful attempts but even still i had trouble getting a high enough number of successful attempts so i decided to focus on 10 round bursts which worked perfectly and i managed to get the stupid sigil and now all i have left to get is waka's weapon fully powered up
Death Penalty can also be obtained by killing a certain enamie by doing a quest found in Meldacio Hunter HQ lvl.99

the highest Damage per second in the game is Zwill Crossblades active, while having Axe of the conquerer, Ulric's Kukris, and Sword of the Father equipped passively.

Zwill Crossblades and Apocalypse are my favorite weapon combo when I'm not airdancing with Ultima Weapon. Works well when you wanna play it safe or reckless--especially when Ignis has the great chamberlain accessory.

4:47 looks like gladio has a thing for shields
5:57 Technically "reduced by minus 40" means " _increased_ by 40." Such is the nature of subtracting negatives. The two minus signs cancel each other out and the equation, or that part of the equation, becomes straightforward addition.
Technically your resistance to fire, ice, lightning, and dark are reduced by (positive) 40.
I was disappointed with each weapon category's ultimate weapons. They're nothing like they were back on the PS1 days, Cloud's Ultimate and Squall's Lionheart will probably be my favorites of all time.
And great job classifying Naglfar as just a suped up Deathclaw, it's so damn annoying seeing newcomers promoting it as Omega Weapon because some random RUclipsr calls it Omega Weapon in the title
Fox Die the Lionheart is a personal favorite but nothing beats the dedication needed for FFX's weapons. I would never want to dodge lightning ever again lol

It just isn't worth the time to get an ultimate weapon unless you've had to dodge suicidal seagulls to finish a chocobo race in zero seconds or spend three hours minimum to beat what amounts to a pack-in bonus sports game.

I like the soul blade for everyday battles. Bow of the clever w Overwhelm technique is worth a try. Holy Counter using the Ring is crazy good against Tornberry and Samurai. Also used the gravity well a lot against swarming enemies and flan. Early game Assassin daggers work well because they poison. Can get them free by Malachi pond. Thx for video.
I went into one of the tower dungeons and literally was one of the hardest dungeons I ever done cause if you get to the same floor 3 times their will be a hella lot of red giants and the snake woman and it took me 5hrs to beat
No one talks about the guruda blades blades that is critical every hit and finishes too
Out of all the FFX side quests to get the characters legendary weapons, the thunder plains lightning dodge was the easiest for me. I went overboard and dodged over 500 lightning strikes when you're only required to do 200 or something
I hated that dungeon where sword of the tall was it was horrible killing 3 red Giants and 1 naga all in one room I was only level 55 aswell what a big mistake that was and then I found out it's not all that great :(
That dungeon made me and the ring of luci get closer
it was alot harder when the ring never worked

Balmung is the opposite of what you said. The more MP you're missing, the less you do.
Naglfar was.. difficult? Ish, but if you wait until day time he just takes damage from the sun as well, so when I fought him, it took me so long that the daytime itself started helping me.
I wish if they added in an accessory or something that made the Kingly weapons not hurt you, because my favorite weapon was the throwing star. That thing was so fun to play around with, but it just kills you. I liked the state it was in when in the Platinum Demo.

Did you know when it comes to tombs the shield of the just is the best because it gives you really good stats like 1000 health and others

Notes:
- All characters are level 120
- I can break the damage limit on both link strikes and all the characters' techniques
- I plan to put the kingsglaive outfits on Noct and Gladio in the Menace Sleeps Beneath Lucis Dungeons (especially Costlemark)
- I'm wondering if I should swap Ignis' weapons for more damage rather than higher sustain, since his current build has a 1/4 resistance to the three elements and a 10% resistance on dark element attacks

And for example: you want highest strength... so what enemy are you fighting, because each enemy needs a diferent build.
There is no correct build. There is no best build. Theres no way to tell you what you should do unless you tell me exaclty what are you going to fight, and for what purpose is your build.
Why do you want elemental resitance? Are you going to fight enemies that throw magic? If so, is the enemy throwing fire, blizzard, thunder or darkness?
If not, then why give chars elemental resistance if there is no enemy that does magic attack?
Do you want ribbon? Why? Does you enemy inflict poison, confusion, petrified, molified, stop, etc?
If not... than why use ribbon?

It depends. You cant just make 1 build for an entire dungeon. Each enemy you see, you have to change your gear depending on the situation.

The Bel-Boy its a solid build. Me personally i gave ignis the zwill and flayer. I like my team to have strong attacks but what your working with is dope.
It's funny that the sword of the talk is in the list, I tried using it and not only was is too slow for me, but the damage was too low for me with each swing. Maybe I was using it wrong, but still I never used it.
What about Uric's Kukris? Love those damn daggers

6:21 Lets just ignore that to get to the Jabberwock you have to fight 3-4 Red Giants _and_ 1-2 Naragani *at the same time* (possibly multiple times if you get lost) before you can even get to the dungeon's "boss." Jabberwock's a cake walk to kill compared to the what you go through getting to the damn thing.
I hated that dungeon full of tonberrys and with countless floors. (Steylyff) i wondered if the Flayer was really worth it

I love gaze vortex it does a lot and fast damage always got critical
and the best weapon is hidden somewhere in the pitios dungeon. its fun there

Ring of lucii can one shot the adamantoise with the triangle ability. Very random chance of working but it does work.
Are any of these better than vortex weapons?
