FFXV: Comprehensive guide to MA-X Angelus 0 Farming (Magitek Suit V2)

Alternate farming method using Sentinel's strat: • Video
Steps:
1. Kill MA-X Patria. The reload trick doesn't work on him so you must kill soldiers on each dropship until he spawns. Save and reload after taking him out. This will cause Angelus 0 to spawn instead of Patria. Also, make sure you beat the game and are on chapter 15 (end of the road). He only appears on chapter 15 after defeating Patria.
2. Build Noctis for strength. Equip Axe of the Conquer and Sword of the father in addition to strength boosting accessories and Prince's fatigues (no jacket).
3. Equip Zwill Crossblades for DPS. You get these from the final Randolph quest (Nalfgar boss)
4. Equip Enhancement technique on Ignis
5. Cook golden tail soup (recipe is obtained from level 10 cooking on Ignis). The top and bottom ingredients can be purchased from Lestallum market and the fish can be purchased from Altissia market.
6. Go north of hammerhead on the map (exact location 3:00 in video) or here imgur.com/a/L6x20 . Save your game. Wait 30 seconds for an imperial dropship to appear. If soldiers, reload your save and wait again. If Angelus 0 spawns, proceed to step 7.
7. USE EASY MODE NOT NORMAL MODE for difficulty. Let Angelus 0 kill you for Carbuncle buff. This can be tough since your allies will try to get you up alot.
8. Use Enhancement twice for 2 different element buffs. 1 element works fine but 2 different elements will give you more damage
9. Use a Strength enhancing item if you have them (such as Muscle Stimulant)
10. Target Torso and DPS with Zwill Crossblades. Keep doing this until Armiger is full. If he opens rocket launcher, you can target with Star of the rogue and hit for quint 9999's which does alot of damage.
11. Pop armiger once you have it and target the torso. This should do most of the damage. Finish him off with crossblades if Armiger runs out
12. Once he dies, he either drops Magitek Suit (95% chance) or Magitek suit V2 (5% chance).
13. Save right after defeating him and load. This will cause the spawns to refresh.
14. Repeat steps 6-13 until V2 suit drops. It could take a really long time because of the 5% drop chance. Drop rate food DOES NOT help either. Its all up to RNG. I farmed for 10+ hours and only got 3 V2 suits. Others have been more lucky and farmed 7 V2 suits in one run.
15. Profit
NOTE: MA-X Angelus 0 is immune to summons UNLESS he is in vulnerable state. If you manage to summon right when he goes into vulnerable state (after destroying an appendage), he will become stuck in that state until the remainder of the fight. You can use this for faster kills but the timing has to be perfect.

There's a MUCH EASIER way to get the Magitek Suit, tho this is the only method I know of to get the v2. Just complete the quest 'My Partner, O Partner' and you'll get both the suit and Death Penalty as rewards.

Another pro-tip: when you see the drop ship appear and you're waiting for the Magitech armor/soldiers to come out, use your warp ability to quickly move toward the rear of the ship (the part with the red glowing propulsion engine.) Stand here facing the front of the ship where the enemies exit from.
This is the most advantageous way to start a fight with a Magitech armor, and I'll explain why:
When a Magitech armor does spawn, you're already behind it and you can use that opportunity to warp strike the missiles on top of it, virtually guaranteeing a break, disabling one of the most annoying and damaging weapons it has. When you do this, you'll probably knock the armor into a vulnerable state, lying on the ground. Quickly warp away from the armor, but remain behind it, and target the other missile launcher with a warp strike virtually guarantee you break it also. Then, if you have time (and you often will,) repeat this process breaking the weapons on it's "hands."
When you target a Magitech armor's weapon with a warp strike from behind the armor, you almost guarantee a break. With this strategy you can START the fight by disabling most, or frequently ALL of the most annoying and damaging weapons on the armor, leaving it with only the ability to actually stomp on you and nothing else. This makes a fight against any mech about 500% faster and easier.
Game, set, match, there Magitech...
Also just an FYI, by breaking one of his break points on the side of left arm or back of right arm you can use the summon you are ignoring. Using a summon while he is broken does zero damage, but he stays vulnerable for the rest of the match increasing your kill speed. Just skip the summon cinematic. Hope this helps you

Yeah, he makes a really big deal out of it but it's not that hard. You have to fight this mech several times while you're in Insomnia.

For a quicker rate to farming Magitek V2 Suits, just use Alterna to kill them off quickly.

Don't eat the Golden Tail Soup, there's a better food buff for this. Get on the Royal Vessel, go to the spot where Bismarck shows up (Google it, it's very easy to find,) and catch a couple Tuna or farm tuna (it's easy, just catch as many as show up, then wait for the time of day to change and another will spawn each time the time of day changes, ie. day->dusk, dusk->night, night->dawn, and dawn->day.)
Use the Bluefin Tina to make the Scientia-Style Sushi. This meal is superior to the Golden Tail Soup and doesn't require level 10 cooking to learn, it only requires you to catch your first tuna.
The Scientia-Style Sushi guarantees crits like the GT Soup does, but on top of that it'll greatly boost all your stats, increase the EXP you earn, and allow sprinting without any stamina expenditure.

With the ring update, the Ring can OHKO Angelus. May take a few tries, but be sure to use the warp points around
UPDATE: a slight modification to this method for those with the season pass and holiday pack +: use the armiger accelerator to build up the armiger gauge with daggers really quickly. This means you can forgo the enhancement buffs from ignis. With high enough strength, Angelus 0 can be defeated in ~1.5 minute with 2 armiger activations

Because it has a 100% chance to drop the Magitek Suit V1 nullifying the need for drop rate food there with a slight chance to upgrade upon drop to V2 which is not affected by drop rate food if I recall.
Are you talking about the Armiger Accellerator in the Ascension Tree or is there another item you can get from having the Packs?
Great video. I tweaked things a little. Ring of Lucii kills Max-Angelus very easily. Kills the soldiers extremely easily too. I parked my off road Regalia by building. Get out and it will queue the imperial ship to show up within seconds, I then use the ring of Lucii to kill everything. Then I get in the regalia completely, then just get right back out and it requeues the next imperial ship. No save/reloading and waiting or dying in the fight for carbuncle. I do all of this on normal mode and it is simple as can be. Much faster...
Hi, what building?
I know I'm like a year late but here's what I found out:
1) You can alterna Angelus (though I have yet to get a V2 since I've only killed him 4 times).
2) I read some comments saying you can save it after you kill him and then reload if you don't get him in the next drop ship, and this does work. I've tried saving it immediately after he died (not exploded) and after he exploded, and managed to get him after reloading a few times using both methods.
Hopefully this helps a bit, I can answer questions if you have any!

If you switch out your Star of the Rogue for Ulric's Kukris, you'll have the best setup in the game when it comes to the STR stat.

so there i was... second playthrough (before the new game + came out).. level 99 before i even left altissia... ran through everything including costlemark with only the piioss dungeon left and this along with the aranea glitch comes up. finally figured out the aranea thing and i beat angelos the first time i came across it in a long drawn out slugfest only damaging him in the double digits. haha. didn't get the v2 either. thank you for the vid. i've seen many so far and they way you break it down is a lot better than most i've came across. same premise but i guess everyone has a different experience. bout to go to work on getting this v2 with this newfound strategy. lol. thanks for the break down.

Just want to make one clarification: Patria is not needed to get Angelus to spawn. The V1 has a 100% chance of dropping but it has a 5% of turning into a V2. This is distinct from his rare drop (he isn't programmed to have a rare drop, just a common)

Ruby light (infinite life)
Summon an astral
Save immediately
Load what you just saved
Angelus 0 appears again
Rinse and repeat

Searching Search I most be late but I just played this game, almost done with it and I can confirm that I have not seen myself in a position to really need anything stat related boost ever, literarly I already kill the manace in Costlemark Tower, the accesories for my boys were friendship bands, Safety Bit and Noctis with Ribbon, also had Warriors Fanfare and Promto the only one with a boost using 1 magiteck suit V1, literarly no stat boost at all for my squad, and for meal the Lasagna al Forno just for the 2x EXP. That being said, I do play very tactically, I have The Xbox Elite Controller and I can move the camera, phase and attack all at the same time, I always strike from Blind Side and I block a lot for link strikes (thats why the friendship bands) so one of the first abilities I unlocked was the Limit Break Damage on Link Strikes, I do 100k damage link strikes no sweat. And like I said, no stat boost so my Strenght and Defense Stats are not even on the 500s.
I've been farming for days and have a total of 6 V2's. Only need 2 more for prompto and then I'm done. The third slot can be for the dark matter bracelets because I swear I'll go insane if I have to keep farming these things.

Correction: The Suit V1 is a 100% drop rate. There is a 5% change it will upgrade to a V2 and drop for you.
why do you prefer to reload instead of blowing the whistle to summon enemies? magitek ship comes every other time I blow it but so far 1 in like 6 or 7 he'll appear
If the drop ships spawn every 30 seconds, wouldn't it be faster to just kill the soldiers and wait for the next drop ship, rather than reloading the save? Or am I missing something?

The reload trick to force another spawn doesn't seem to be working. I saved and reloaded immediately after getting the drop while his death animation was still going off, but the dropship that spawned after I loaded was just magitek assassins.
This is still a great method for killing him though...it only takes me a minute or two to bring him down with the carbuncle buff.

This method is unbelievable work for me guys, although if you have the best dish in the gam ( tuna sushi) 50 exp,50 all stats boot, always critical, you can best this guy even in normal game mode. It took just 5-9 minutes for me.
i used a summon on the lvl 76 like a donut and didnt get the spawn lol

didnt watch the entire video but I have 3 v2s and the way I got them the fastest was to break off the shoulder rockets and the circular thing on his arm and then killed him
finally, been kinda amazed by the fact that so many people still dont know that you can increase certain drop rates by just simply breaking their shit.

Well i must be doing something wrong. I killed Patria but then it only appears MA Veles and MA Haplomachus and never appeared other than that, never even saw one Angelus. Any suggestion??
gotta love the expericast spells when you are 40lvls bellow 3mil xp after completion and also i noticed if you use the flame spells it gets rid of the icy blizzards that spawn in the fight

I just accidently ran into him on the way to farm using this method and hadn't even ran into camp when he appeared on normal mode! Killed him and guess what dropped!?!?! Magitek Suit V2 first kill and appearance!!! :D

its quite annoying to fight angelus and a red giant at the same time hahaha. not saying i cant kill both, i just find it annoying
after buffing up damage, usiing star of the rogue warp strike and just potion up works faster. about 6 warp strikes hes dead
Greetings! This is a great guide but I really can't get the Ma-x Patria to spawn at that location. I've defeated lots and lots of airships but it just doesn't spawn. I'm at Chapter 15. Am I this unlucky or should I go somewhere else to get it to spawn?
This drop rate is fucked. Killed it 35 times and got it twice in my 10 first ten kills. Then nothing at all
This is the easiest technique to defeat MA-X Angeles. Forgot about all the other methods.

I would add don't forget to do the quests for the dark matter bracelet for +100 strength. I personally also have 3rd accessory slot adamantite bangle, anklet of the gods. Decent build for me at least
its still not really been explained why its supposed to be better to save/reload than to just keep fighting troops.
I can kill 3 spawns of troops quicker than one save/reload. So I get 3x as many spawn chances.
Thank you for this video. If I may ask, is there any advice you could give me or any stats that I can use to make this happen easier? As with many players, my particular copy somehow allows me to encounter the Angelus before beating Patria. I did notice that after I beat the game, there were no longer any low level drop ships (the ones with the everyday lvl 16 foot soldiers), at the point I'm at, it's only Magitek Assassins, Bannerman on occasion, the Hipplomancus (or however you say it), Veles Biz (or however you say that one), and the Angelus. I've fought Angelus one time and got the V1 suit, but that's it. Basically, I'm asking if there's any way to make him spawn more often?
On a side note, I do NOT have the crown update. I have the game as-is-upon-release. (No internet to be had at my house.)

I just farm with the beast whistle by the camp with Prompto's stalker pic quest and kill all drop ships. Using shield of the just on drop ship mobs can typically one shot them making it quick AP while farming MA-X Angelo ... I'm still at 0 V2 suits though >.>
I got over 1000 strength but every time I hit his torso with Zwill Crossblades, I only deal an average damage of 600. I have the food buff (critical dmg). Am I doing something wrong?
You making sure that you have two different elemental enhancements?
Yeah, I make sure I get at least two before attacking. It's weird though because I get 9999 damage with the shuriken when I hit the rocket launcher
The only thing I can think of is to make sure you're actually striking him from the front. I believe that even if you have the torso targeted if you hit him from too large of an angle or from behind him that it does reduced damage. That's the only thing I can think of that might be causing your problem.
use the rabbit god carbuncle, it gives so much str, dont use attack boost items

Str 1084 or something zwill blades .carbuncle buff.double enhancement.aaaaand power x.aaand promptos defence break.
i have no idea how OP deals 4k-2k damage to it.i mean even my hp are full for zwill crossblades
im curious if v2 will be nerfed sometime. if you read item descriptions there should technically be 1 or 2 items of a higher lever. phenominally and ridiculously. although ive wondered if there is another boss somewhere that has a drop no ones found yet. either way i hate this thing i have more v1 suits than i can equip and 0 v2s sometimes i wonder if there are other circumstances to drop it breaking things on him or battle time etc. mostlikely im just unlucky as hell i can kill him super fast and usually can get him to spawn fast.
I mean if your just looking for health then the adamantite bangle is best because that boosts you up by 10,000 health but it only gives you health
Est Want that strength boost tho and you can get it for the whole party if you're lucky with the drops
can you step out of the battle zone, save, and keep reloading and fighting that angelus? or is the item spawn set the second he appears??
Please I really need help. I have been trying for days now to get patria to spawn. I have beaten the maniples required before it, have beaten the game (ch 15), have done all fortress missions, all menace within quests, and just about every end game activity and side quest there is. Yet for well over 20 hours of imperial fleet invasions, I’ve only gotten level 47 assassins. Is there something I am missing? I know it’s not bad RNG at this point. I could really use any pointers. I’ve tried the save and reload method and I’ve also tried just continuously summoning enemies with the whistle to spawn ships. Neither worked at all.
I feel like the V2 is slightly less useful after level 99.
Also you don't need to beat Patria first. I never faught Patria, and yet I got 7 Angelus in a row last night.
Can you wait for the next ship and keep clearing the troops as it's only 30 seconds? Or is the spawn longer?

if i leave the area, say to get more health items and magic and rebuff myself, do i need to kill the soldiers then the lvl 76 mech to get the angelus to pop up again? or can i just pick it back up where i left off
I'm just now doing this in 2019 and I don't know if they changed something, but I never ever get Angelus. I've been at this an hour or two and tried killing them and save and reload and it is ALWAYS soldiers. Absolutely 100% every single time. T.T
Why don't you save when you see him coming out? Then you can reload that save where you know he's here and kill him over and over again until you get the v2 suit. I mean yeah, you miss out on the v1 suits, but does that really matter?
do you have to repeat the steps each time you want to begin the farm or just reload over and over until you get the boss
Encountered my first MA-X Angelus while outside the Grotto waterfall (going to clear Menace in the Grotto). Totally unprepared for it, took me 30 mins to clear that bloody bugger despite doing a quick change to Easy mode and using Ruby Light. At least I gotten the normal suit after all that cursing and swearing :-/
i have a story related question: ok so summons are all astrals right? and the astrals are The Six but is carbuncle an astral and if so are there more astrals other than the six and if carbuncle isnt then is it an astral?
He's probably a messenger like the dogs. Umbra can move you through time, so it makes sense Carbuncle would have some extraordinary powers. IF it's a messenger of the 6 at all...
When you kill him and don't get the v2, just load the save again.

If you don't mind spamming potions and in some cases (Phoenix down) the rare metal will give you +500 str but nerf your hp and def significantly. 3 v2s will give you a combined STR of +300, but a single rare metal will give you almost double the amount. You could combine it with ribbon, another great item that protects you from most of the effects from enemies, or the black hood where you auto dodge phase and party, or the amadantoise which gives you 9999+HP

Tbh the best way to make him spawn is reloading the save you made over again. I usually get him to spawn 3-6 times and you don't need to fight patria. This is just time wasty but nice vid

u can save at the last second before it drops and u can reload it and kill it until u get it.Thats whay i did at least
I just killed Angelus and he didnt drop a magitek suit or a magitek suit V2.He just dropped a treasure item called hardended condensator(not sure if that was the exact name)
You might have killed patria. Angelus only drops V1 or V2 suits as his drop loot
no he doesnt. he can also drop different things like condensators etc. i killed him around 30 times and i had non magitek suit drops 3 times. i dont know the exact conditions. i think it is a bug if you break certain appendages during the fight
There is a Mech that looks exactly like him. exactly like him. and it can be a tough fight compared to the other lower level mechs. I literally just faught it and got what you said. None of the Angelus (however it was spelled) dropped anything different than a Magitek suit for me
After you kill Angelus and leave this place for example, than you go back to farm. Do you have to wait for patria again?
Nope. Patria never spawns again after you defeat it on chapter 15
Can I farm the magitik suit Version 2 without playing New Game Plus?
And can I transfer it to the new game plus when I finish the first game and start playing the new game plus??
My english is good but I might be missing something... I've done everything you've said and after trying for almost an afternoon I've got 6 magitek suit, v1 of course :) (I know it's all about luck!), the thing that I don't get is why do you have to die and get revived by Carbuncle??? Is that necessary or does it help to increase the drops???

I've found out the best way to do that: whenever an Angelus appears, I quickly open the menu and remove every Noctis's accessory, so he's as weak as possible, when the robot uses its left arm-shield electric move (most of the times its the first one) Noctis goes into crisis right away. The Angelus next move should be the rocket launch, so I ran away as fast as possible by pressing L3, Noctis should be down before the guys could reach him :) This works like 90% of times!

With one of the new updates you can kill him with the instant kill move from the Ring of Lucii (not death but the other one), and as long as you have a stock of eithers it would be faster than normal
Get v2 on second kill. Nothing else after like 40 so far, this is so annoying to farm. just wanna get two or three for noct and move on.
magitek armor has a 100% drop with a 5% chance of it being v2
