  • About a year ago, I got the #miradry treatment to combat excessive underarm sweating, also known as #hyperhidrosis. Learn how it's going more than a year later and whether I would recommend Miradry.

    I have hyperidrosis in my upper body not just my underarms so this isn't for me. But I have found SUTRAN shirts that absorb all the moisture that you can give them in a day and don't leak into your clothes. They have been a lifesaver for me. And now they come in many colors and styles. Look them up.... They are patented.

      @@ayoubanas1 Significant reduction in sweat. It took about a month before my underarms felt totally normal again. It wasn’t painful but it felt weird. Actually, there was a little discomfort. In the beginning, my underarms were SO dry that it almost felt like they were chafing. I had no sweat for about 2-3 weeks. I’ve been sweating a little now, but it’s like an 80% reduction. It doesn’t show up on my shirts, and if it does it dries quickly, especially with sweat-wicking fabrics.

    • @ChrisandShang
      @ChrisandShang  Год назад +2

      Sounds about right, they use a "carousel" that has 5-6 needles or so and use that in multiple places in each armpit. Sounds scarier than it is though!

      Google it, it's not that bad. The needles are very short and thin.

      @justmeagain7 How are the results now? Any scarring? Any side effects? How much has the sweat reduced?

    • @justmeagain7
      @justmeagain7 5 месяцев назад +3

      @fauzaan_shareef scaring: I saw a little scar of around 1 cm. Almost invisible, nothing important.
      Side effects: I think I suffered some nerve damage on my right arm, but it is usually temporary. The doctor told me before the procedure that I was more prone to it because I didn't have much fat under my arm (low body fat). I have been taking vitamin B complex every day, and It is getting much better each day (I am 3 months post procedure now).
      Sweating: still sweat a little, but like 70% less, so I use a over the counter unscented deodorant called "Simple" that I like. That is enough for me to avoid smelling bad even in extreme heat and humidity.
      So far, I love having it done. It really is life changing, after living for years with this kind of problem. No
      regrets whatsoever.

      @@justmeagain7 did odor disappear in these 5 days?

    • @justmeagain7
      @justmeagain7 8 месяцев назад

      @ayoubanas1 no sweat or odor since miradry, just swelling, lol.
      However, today, I felt a little bit of odor on my right armpit, but it is like 1% odor, almost nothing.
      There are 2 factors I am taking into consideration:
      1. Miradry reduces around 80-90% of sweat and odor on 80% of patients or more.
      2. Several people experience a "purging" period, where a few weeks or months after treatment, the sweating glands are very active, like purging a last sweat for a few days. After that period, sweating decreases significantly again.
      Permanent results can be observed after around 6 months. After that period of time, you can get a better idea about how your body will behave now. Maybe that's why the minimal required period of time before a second miradry treatment is 6 months.
      If I could just use regular deodorant and not sweat and smell horribly by the end of the day, I would be satisfied. If I could live without ever needing deodorant again, it would be wonderful!. But we'll see. I am managing my expectations.

    • @waterfallfaerie

      Your reasoning relies on a logical fallacy called the naturalistic fallacy. This reality that just because something is produced by nature, that doesn't mean it's a good thing or that it's how things _should_ be.
      Furthermore, as the creator noted, there's evidence that excessive underarm sweating, particularly sweat produced by apocrine glands, has little to no health benefits including little benefits to thermal regulation. This is supported by the fact that large populations in East Asia have genetic differences that result in little to no sweat gland activity in the underarms (and are fine) and by the fact that excessive sweating is often caused by psychological factors rather than physiological ones.
      Moreover, if someone is suffering from something embarrassing and uncomfortable, you have no right to tell them to that they should deal with it because it's supposed to be that way. That would be the same as insisting that people with poor eyesight shouldn't wear glasses.
