I just finished watching a career timeline for Macaulay, now I rewatched this. I remember this being such a great moment just seeing him back doing something so simple and self aware.

IIRC, he had a bit of a rought patch for a while. I remember seeing some video of him where he was extremely thin and pale. If you look closely at the Culkin and Rolfe skits, you can notice how they seem to genuinely enjoy each other. I wouldn't be surprised if some moments were improvised.
