It's multi-platform games like these that makes me want to own a Hyperkin RetroN 3, in which cartridges from NES, SNES, and Genesis can all be inserted into one single game console device, for quick comparisons and alternating between different versions of the same game!
That DOS version gave me an idea. Something like a Home Alone Dungeon Keeper. Each level is a different house on the street, and you get five minutes to set up all the traps you can before watching the robbers come in. Early houses are working class with a bunch of spare parts for traps and not many valuables if they do break in. In all the early houses, they always go though the front door, but later houses will typically have them go though windows or other side doors and you have to account for that. When they're in enough pain, they leave, but can pick up anything they find along the way. You get points for everything they don't pick up, and every additional point of pain they take after they decide to leave. They will typically be more wary a few seconds after any pain, and will notice and sidestep traps, with an additional chance to spot the same trap they just hit. But they can also be used against them, as if they're looking for something on the ground, they have a better chance to fall to something that would hit them in the head.
The megadrive version was the one I grew up with. It had unique gameplay, that to this day I don't think you'll find in any other game. I loved the idea of stocking up on traps and weapons to hold the bandits off, and I loved that every house had a certain gimmick that could be as much a hindrance to you as they could to the bandits, if you were lucky.

I don't remember this game and I had an S.N.E.S and a Game Boy. But, I didn't see Home Alone until it was on HBO in 1991. I guess I missed out on the ghosts and junior pole vault parts. 😂
The Master System version is the best. A basic but well-designed action game that escalates in challenge with each level. The Mega Drive game is cool but gets monotonous very quickly. The less said about the other versions, the better.

I feel like the guys that made Neighbours from Hell could have done something great with this, but I doubt they could have coughed up the cash for the licence. Or it would be too constricting.

Home Alone 2 for the Nes is a total rip off. After many years playing that game, I'd finally beaten it. But it's super hard to beat. There is no way in hell to beat it with the limited lives you have.
I think the Sega ones are better than the Nintendo versions. It's funny because usually the SNES port tends to better than than the Genesis version but this is a case where Sega's slogan "Genesis does what Nintedon't" applies.

You forgot the Game Gear version, which is pretty similar to the Mega Drive one, albeit with worse graphics.
