I printed and installed these on a Grasshopper II and a Super Hornet and they were game-changing. Totally changed the way the car drives and handles. Couldn't recommend more.
thank you so much for your compliment! I guess tamiya already have these 'customer made' upgrades enlisted but decide not to release it so we fans try more mods? ^^
Although many solution out there i see this as one of the best without affecting the integrity of the chassis (no mod to chassis just add on). 1st clss Engineering solution The lunchbox require this tooo : (
This is great. I switched my Grasshopper to a technigold motor years ago. The rear end bounced up and down so much it blew the diff gears in just one run on dry grass. In the end the faster motor with standard suspension was the RS-380 it came with. This was always a weak point on the grasshopper and hornet as the brackets would often snap off.
Really like this mod, I have seen similar for the Lunchbox but I like the way this needs no drilling. I am thinking about making one of od Derlrin ok n the CNC router
@@HumbleVintageRC I dont it is one of their top selling brands since 84 followed by the lunchbox and hornet...you are probably right but I think they might consider it although again I'm sure they wouldnt pay much for it
Hey, great mod :) But I just have a question as an old skool owner of the original model: did you ever install the springs (part number BB9) that actually go on each side of that metal rod that connects the gearbox to the chassis? I remember that part vividly as back then when I got my Grasshopper over 30 years ago- these springs we either lost or actually even werent in the box- hence my dad built them on his own. They keep the gearbox from "jumping" while accelerating while maintaining traction.
thank you for the comment! yes I am aware of the springs that holds down the metal rod. I do know they are meant to hold down the rod while acceleration however that doesnt work in 540motors. in 380motors does springs hold down the rod firmly but for 540 simply the torque is way higher than the downforce from the springs
@@HumbleVintageRC thanks for clarification 😊 Thats interesting - my car came with a 540RS motor but since my dad made the springs himself - I think he made them way stronger than the original ones as there was not much movement while driving the car. Its weird Tamiya doesnt offer stronger springs for stronger motors. However- you made a good fix, well done and modelled💪🏾
thank you for the comment! I get good feedback in this brace, I saw some people actually print it and sell it in ebay(with out my permission actually ;-( ) however if you have better solution to improve please let me know!
Excellent upgrade. I wonder about something soft... To allow some flex but not that big rotational movement. To help with the torque shock. 🤔 Amazing work.! Subbed for this! 🚀
oh the long one is 50305 and longer one is 50304, however I think they are super rare^^ I was fortunate to have these yellow dampers as spare earned during number of used car trades!^^

thank you for the comment!!! really glad it worked well for you^^
Tamiya should include this part in all future re-releases, brilliant mod !

Agree, and not forgetting for the lunchbox as well.

thank you for visiting my channel and addressing the need for the bracket!

Great upgrade , I just got the grasshopper 2 , and that motion in the gearbox is annoying.
Thanks for the video 👍👍
thank you! I am also subscribing your channel, and love your hopper/hornet series^^
@@HumbleVintageRC Thanks :)
Excellent engineering, well done!
Thank you😀😁!!!
I'd buy that in a heartbeat
You should definitely email this tamiya
thank you! this upgrade brace was pretty smart? ^^ I say tamiya won't pay too much effort in these old models^^

I'm gonna have to buy a 3d printer now I've been putting it off but this part sealed the deal

Traction on take will be lost in this mod due to the suspension providing the needed weight shift force to the rear tires.

Traction bar mod is really the only thing i know for these little hoppers that works, but kudos on the effort.
You're correct. I think something soft would make a great absorber and help with the overwhelming torque shock on take off. 🚀

thank you so much! hopper mods for this is always a big homework for everyone I think!^^ thank you for visiting my channel!
Awesome video bro I liked and subbed keep it up those look so cool!
Thank you! I also subbed your channel!
Hello! Is the STL link for Thingiverse no longer work, is there an updated link? Thank you!

many thanks!
Do you have part # for the front mini and rear short YELLOW shocks? I can only seem to find the black ones which I don't care for.

What plastic did you use?
Used PLA😁
Well done !
thank you!
