Just in time for the re-release!! My experience with the Grasshopper II was a brief moment in 1989. Can't remember why.... I'm planning on getting the re-re, somehow, so THANKS again! You are more responsive to people's needs than any other Shapeways Designers out there. If there's any dissenters, the need to realize that you've got a life too!!😲😲 Thank you Alberto, for all you do. Thanks also for turning us on to Blue Pinto's music! I'm planning on getting at least a bunch of tracks as soon as I'm able. ~ Carmine
Glad you like the upgrade. The slapping sound these cars make is like fingernails on a chalk board to me. I hate it. The big surprise here is the Super Hornet. I is amazing now. I am a huge fan of Blue Pinto, glad you are too!
Great video , I just used the link of of your Mini Factory. I'm digging into my Grasshopper to do some basic upgrades. If it hits the backyard track for a video I'll link the parts used and give credit! Thanks again for your fine fine work.
Another great video! I really like the approach that differs from a "third shock" - you can now do away with the little hold down springs too. This is the best solution there is for this axle design, I think. Also I really dig that you are "after-marketing' the lowly Grasshopper/ Hornet. It's the most fun and the best challenge to make something out of a car with that much room for improvement.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful! Got a Super Hornet ready for that and I am currently building a Grasshopper II 2017, and next step is mounting the transmission. I guess it will fit the new one? I'm not to sure of the differences between the original and the rerelease. It's got the Hornet 2004 rerelease transmission. Looking forward to not ever having to experience what I experience on the RF. And really looking forward to seeing that brace as you know :-) The RF is my favorite runner. I just like the beefy DT-01 transmission with metal bevel/spider gears and everything much more than the Hornet and Grasshopper transmissions. With that upgrade it will truely be a Super Super Fighting Hornet III. Maybe I should buy a whole lot of the different braces and upgrade all 4 at the same time :-)
The change to the Super Hornet is unreal. It is amazing now. Yes It will fit the new ones also...I hope they left that little tab there...As for the upgrades, that what I did. I installed three last night! Once you get on a roll, it is hard to stop.
I'm going to revive my old Super Hornet and I want to have all of your mods in it. My electronics including the motor are shot. What motor can the transmission handle while still being driveable? I've been out of the RC loop for quite a while and much has changed since.
Well the trans on a Super Hornet is all but indestructible. I mean the design is great. However, the driving characteristics on a Super Hornet (for me anyway) relegate the car to a nice hot stock motor. Mine will do 25 with a Tamiya Sport tuned unit. On top of that, the front end I designed should not be used with anything more than a stock motor. If you want to make the car fly, it will handle about anything you can throw at it but you should stick with the stock arms at that point. For me, these cars stop being fun at around 20mph. The rear end just cant grip at anything over that. My two cents.
Thanks for your input, since I have no idea what the brushless business is all about, are there comparable motors to the tamiya sport tuned? Just asking because I see some affordable motor & ESC combos on the net. I did some rebuilding last night, filles the shocks with new oil and got ball bearings with rubber seals on all relevant parts. Turns out my Chassis and the Body are in good condition, the decals start to peel on the spoiler though. Anyway, I ordered all of your upgrades including the diff locker from shapeways and I can't wait to try it out. 3D printing must've been the biggest blessing for the RC community so far.
Yes, I have watched the one where your transmission broke, I've come to the conclusion that a brushless motor might be able to pop some wheelies but doesn't deliver in the fun compartment where the Super Hornet is concerned. I've seen that a local RC shop still sells a re-release kit of the Super Shot (Now named Super Hotshot 2012), I've always liked the looks of that one as a kid, as it happens there is a Tamiya TBLE-02S ESC and a Tamiya GT-Tuned Motor 25T included, I'll buy that kit and use the ESC and Motor in the Super Hornet. I'll get something beefier for the Super Shot later when I've assembled it.
THANK YOU so much! I got a rereleased grasshopper should get hornet back axle holder to twist. Please is there a braked that fit grasshopper ONE AND normal hornet? Sorry for my english, Greetings from germany :)
Yes! There is one for each of them as well as a battery door. You can search "Ampro Hornet" and "Ampro Grasshopper" and you will find them. Links in description.
I keep coming back to watch this video, year after year! LOL So badly want / need this mod for both my Grasshopper 2, Super Hornet and Lunchbox, but I just cant justify $80 AUD (including shipping) for 3 little pieces of plastic... Is there cheaper ways to get these made here in AUS ?
OH MY GOD! Really! That's madness. Yes, you can do a print from home through my mini factory but the site is not well at the moment. The uploader isn't working but they are fixing it. I may also have some here that I can mail to you as I can probably put them in an envelope and not a large box like SW. Email me at amproengineering@gmail.com
Hey Alberto, Just built a Rising Fighter for my 10 yr old son and have decided to get my old original Super Hornet back on the road again, any chance of a Shapeways promo code? 😉 Lol, love your channel by the way, keep up the great work 👍🏻
That is great to hear! They are both great cars. As for a promo code, I wish I could provide those! Shapeways randomly does them. I think I have some prototype pivots for the Super hornet if you are ok with tapping and using m3's on the pivot. Lemme know.
AMPRO Engineering Haha, never worry about the promo, I was only chancing my arm lol, a prototype part would be fine with me, how could I buy them off you and isn’t postal costs to the UK not quite costly?
AMPRO Engineering I’ll do that then, I got a new battery holder for the radio receiver in the post today so need to replace that, I left the batteries in the old one and it just fell apart lol, with that fixed I’ll be able to check if the radio still works, need new front tyres too, can’t find original Super Hornet replacements anywhere, total nightmare.
will the brace also help with it's "jumping" in the rear. the I race the grasshopper 2 in my garden, it looks like it make very small jumps all the time.. my F10 Bison does not do that, granted it has that fixed rear transmission..
Hello there I have the grass hopper 2 to build, and have a built rising fighter.can they use the same transmission brace, or are they slightly different. Kind regards Ian Uk
Great question. They have the same chassis but totally different transmissions. I have a brace for the GH2 and a version for the rising fighter. You will find it here on my channel, episode 67
Well, they are hard to find new but I would look on eBay. They have been out of production for a long time now but since the re-release of the Grasshopper 2, the Super Hornet may be next.
Excellent question, this one is not but I do have these as well as an accompanying battery door for the Hornet also. You can find the complete installation and links to the parts in Episode One from Ampro Engineering.

Nails on a chalkboard - that was exactly my thought! 😠😠😠
And yeah, Blue Pinto has a nice, smooth sound. I really like it!
AMPRO decals! Nice!
Definitely doing this when I start my FrankenHornet project.
Anything that has "Franken" and "Hornet" is something I want to be a part of!
Yes, more quality parts! I feel the Grasshopper battery door brace is getting closer :)
I was thinking that last night actually!
yaaaaay :)
Great video , I just used the link of of your Mini Factory. I'm digging into my Grasshopper to do some basic upgrades. If it hits the backyard track for a video I'll link the parts used and give credit! Thanks again for your fine fine work.
Sure thing paul!

Well I have always felt that these cars were painfully overlooked. They are some of the most fun toys out there and deserve the love!

another great piece. I'm going to get one. when will the piece for the rising fighter available as I need 2 for the cars of my sun's.
Ill post that one now!
Lol! the hopper chassis pogo pop! good part!
It's so irritating...
Hey there's not a "super hornet" category on your Shapeways. Maybe you should make one so we can find parts easier.
Is there not? I think it’s GH2/Super Hornet But maybe the text doesn’t all show up

Well I hope you like them. Just please remember that these are not as strong as stock. Have you seen the SuperFly running video?
Yes, I have watched the one where your transmission broke, I've come to the conclusion that a brushless motor might be able to pop some wheelies but doesn't deliver in the fun compartment where the Super Hornet is concerned.

OH man yeah the UK import duties and shipping are always awful! Might be cheaper for buy from Shapeways. Darn that sucks.
What did you need for the Super Hornet?
Am I correct that the additive manufacturing process that is used for your products is SLS?
That is correct. the SLS (Selective Laser Sintering ) is my preferred choice thanks to cost, durability and color.
will the brace also help with it's "jumping" in the rear. the I race the grasshopper 2 in my garden, it looks like it make very small jumps all the time.. my F10 Bison does not do that, granted it has that fixed rear transmission..
No that is an inherent feature of how that trans works. The motors rotation forces the trans to its most extended state under acceleration.
Awesome work sir, as alway.....do you own any tamiya striker or sonic fighter??
Thank you! I do have a Striker that I plan on making many upgrades to.
Yesss, looking forward to it....
Going to order up an orange and a black brace. Seems almost as simple to install as those stupid spring clips.
Oh man those things are annoying.
Hello there
I have the grass hopper 2 to build, and have a built rising fighter.can they use the same transmission brace, or are they slightly different.
Kind regards
Ian
Uk
Great question. They have the same chassis but totally different transmissions. I have a brace for the GH2 and a version for the rising fighter. You will find it here on my channel, episode 67
Hi guys.. where in the UK can I purchase these two modifications for my partners RIsing Fighter? Thanks in Advance.
There is a link in the description to the Shapeways store. For you it would be printed in the Netherlands.
Hi
I'm looking for a Super Hornet body! Are they still available?
Well, they are hard to find new but I would look on eBay. They have been out of production for a long time now but since the re-release of the Grasshopper 2, the Super Hornet may be next.
Hello ! Where can I buy parts easy ? I’m located in belgium .
Kind regards kevin
All links are in the description. Shapeways has a facility in the Netherlands for EU orders so you will be all set.
Hallo
Is this part also for the normal Hornet?
Excellent question, this one is not but I do have these as well as an accompanying battery door for the Hornet also. You can find the complete installation and links to the parts in Episode One from Ampro Engineering.
