    Hi I have a tip when decreasing it's almost the same as you do it but when you grab the string to pull through 3 loops. I don't grab the fourth string. Instead I grab the 3rd string on the hook and pull it through 2 loops like you would for a single crochet stitch. It looks a hole lot better not look like a half double crochet. Thank you . I'm copying your circle blanket which I love so much.

    Hi Christa, yesterday I started the Polka Dot blanket from some leftovers I had from a previous granny square blanket I made for my niece 2 years ago I started by making the dots first, half way through I tried to make the square, all easy peasy really thanks to your instructions :) My question is: Why do you turn your work while making the square? I'm used to do it without turning and so I did yesterday by habit and I think it came out the same way? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Will the stitch count be different? Thank you so much!

    • @SecretYarnery
      @SecretYarnery  5 лет назад +1

      Hi, Mirjana Zdravkovic!! You certainly do NOT have to turn! I findit is easier for people new to crochet to not lose that first stitch after the corners... and with the squares having to line up afterwards, it can be confusing if the stitch count is off. Dealers choice! xx

    I know you have 12 (100 gram) skeins for your “squares”-& you leave the skein with the circle after turning it into a square, but I’m using a couple of skeins that are 453.6 grams each and cannot “leave it with the square”-I need to continue using that skein to crochet around the next square. Hope I’m not confusing. I want to follow your method of connect as you go, so could I just pull out a quantity of yarn, cut it off and continue using that skein to square up my next circle? If I could just pull out a quantity needed to use when I “connect as you go”-how much yarn should I pull off the skein and leave with that finished circle? OR, my other thought was to wind my 453.6 gram skein into four 114.8 grams and just go from there (but I would hate to be wasting yarn!). Help! Sorry for the long question. LOL 🤓

    • @SecretYarnery

      Hi, Kathryn Borbacs! I get what you mean. You could finish each square with a full round of double crochets, and then add a bit extra to compensate for the slip stitch joins. It would be a bit of a guessing game though, unfortunately. Joining tutorial comes out on Monday. xx!

But because I have yet to find a SIMPLE tutorial on turning circles into squares, I have 3 options at this point: Tear my med and large circles down to 3 or 4 rounds so I can follow an easier tutorial on this - OR - figure out a way to just join the circles WITHOUT turning them into squares - OR - just stitch the circles onto my blanket . . . because this should NOT be this stressful smh.

    How do you know how many of these I need for a blanket?

      Hi, Vicki Wilson!! Depends how thick your yarn is, the hook you are using, etc. How I always do it, is I make a one finished square. Measure it. Figure out how many I would need to go across the size of blanket I want to make. Figure out how many I need to make the blanket as tall as I want it to be. And multiply the numbers. That is how many square I make! Hope that helps. xx

    I am asking this because I have extreme allergies and can’t go out. Can anyone in the US who’s using that dark grey color tell me the brand and color they’re using so I can order it online. I don’t trust that the color I see online is the true color. Thanks.

    What gets me is the fact she never shows what shes doing. She just does it and keep her hands over it. And just says words. Some people are quite visual thus the reason we come on youtube. You barepy show the corner stitch
