Just arrived at my appartment, after a early morning golden hour trip on the island of rhodes... I love this lense more and more. Not only for portraits (for what I bought it for), but also for street photography. She is quite special, you have to walk and try a lot to find the perfect spot... but it‘s SO worth it. Almost my favorite, only second to my Sony 70-300 G (which is twice the price and twice as big). She is for sure my favorite prime lense. Tack sharp, fast, great bokeh.
Ive took some fantastic portraits with this on my a6000 , I now use it on my a7riii where it is my bread & butter lens now... Fantastic piece of glass & the important thing it wont break the bank to get it..
I have had this lens for 6+ months. It has become my favorite lens. I have an A6500, an A7Rii, and an A7iii. I really like it better for portraits on the full frame, but I use it on the 6500 for photos and video often. It's so sharp!! I also have the 24-70 G-MASTER and I use this lens far more for portraits. I shot some senior pictures, graduation pictures, and prom pictures for clients during this end of the school year season, and while it was not the only lens I used, the pictures I got from it were perfect in every shoot I did. I almost bought the G-Master 85, but read several reviews of this lens and decided to try it as it is over $1000 cheaper. I am not disappointed in the least! It is the best lens for the money I've ever used. Great job.. and keep the videos coming.
Lloyd with the crop factor in getting about 127mm. It can be a little long but I like the effects I get with it. I also really like how fast it is. And it's is sharp.. Really sharp..
Got it. I used it today (on my a6500) in a video. The focal length was great. It is a great lens to fill the focal length range. I have the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 (love it) and the Sony SEL35mm f/1.8. Also, the Sony FE 85mm F/1.8 (also full frame) I'm starting to leverage lenses towards a future a7III purchase. Why not? Still, the a6500 is my body for now.
Finally I found the video that I have been looking for which is the combination of this lense( a lense that is designed for full frame cameras) with APS-C cameras. Thank you! I bought it few days ago and I'm using it with my sony A6100 camera. I love it!
I love love this lens too! Super sharp, fast focus, relatively small for FE, focus hold and autofocus toggle all for ~$600. This is pretty much the default lens on my a7r iii. It's mainly used for street photography and taking pictures of my cats. The 80cm minimum focusing distance does make it unwieldy to use indoors, but I believe that's par for the course for 85mm focal length. ...I used to use a6000 and a6500, but the lack of fast zoom (like you mentioned in your tamron zoom video) forced me move away from Sony aps-C, even though I did love the a6xxx bodies. Sure wish Sony would make more lenses similar to the value of 85mm f1.8. Imagine if sony had affordable quality 24mm 35mm 50mm primes!
I’ve had this lens for 5 months and rarely use it. Not because I don’t like it but most places I shoot the focal length it too long. When I have used it the pictures are phenomenal.
I plan to get this for my a6500 but will just be for my eventual upgrade to full frame. I think a A7RIII for a hobbyist like me might be overkill so I might lean with a A7III and just use the a6500 as a back up/video camera.
If you can get your hands on the 90mm 2.8 macro OSS, you should give that a try, I think you'd really like it. Focus isn't as fast being its a macro lens but the images are beautiful. It's a really heavy, solid piece of glass
I was using a Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 on my A6500 with the MC-11 adapter and really liked the focal length. However, this lens (not needing an adapter) is lighter in weight than the Canon + MC-11 combination. The AF is a lot better also and I have all of the Sony AF parameters available. Additionally, I just love the focus hold button which I reprogrammed to Eye AF. This is, IMO, a pretty perfect portrait lens as you mention in your title. I am glad that you included images of your beautiful wife, This lens really flatters her great looks. I can see that this lens will become one of my favorite lenses for the A6500 and any other Sony mirrorless camera I will get in the future,
This is exactly the video I was looking for! I've considered this lens for my a6000 now for a couple of weeks and thanks to you I've finally reached the conclusion that this is a lens I have to buy. Thank you for the great review :)
If I were you I would try it first. This review does not really show how far you have to be from someone to get a good shot. 85mm on a crop body is quite awkward to work with.... just wanted to warn you before you buy.
I love this lens, so light, relatively small, well priced and such good image quality. Ah... worth owning! Now I just need a bigger camera bag so it is always with me! I really need a camera bag that allows me to have a 35mm 50mm and 85mm with me.
misteruban tough call for me because I want to do both video and portrait shooting. On a a6400 and I have no idea which one to go with, heard great things from both.
I'm still waiting for this comparison to see if it's worth replacing my Sigma 56mm depending on how much of a difference is in the background between the two.
I have both lenses; but if i can keep only one, it’ll be the 56mm. Smaller, lighter, and better performance across the aperture range. The 85mm still very good, though.. just not as good on aps-c bodies compared to full frame.
If you have a full frame this lens is a no brainer! For crop i recommend zeiss 55mm F1.8, which will act as 83mm for portraits. Or for easy money any legacy 50mm glass. :) Great portrait shots of your wife. Congrats!
Thx for the review, it reflects my impressions! I'm using this lens for horse jumping and dressage photography on my A6300 for a few month - it has a perfect reach from the side of a normal sized track. I needed a fast lens (typical expo time is 1/1000 sec or less), the 1670z has been a bit slow and less sharp, the sel50 has been a bit short and I could not justify spending on GM glass. One thing I've noticed: it might lose quite a bit of contrast when using wide open and slightly facing to the sun.
Thank you. I was one of those that asked you to do this review. I had the Canon 85 1.8 before and it was my favorite lens in that system. I will definitely be picking this one up within the next month. I want the Sigma 16 too but that's going to have to wait. I do way more portraiture.
127.5 mm and roughly f/2.5 equivalent is, as you said, just about perfect as a portrait lens outdoors on an APSC camera. The small form factor adds to its usefulness...
Would you say the 90mm Macro is close? We want a macro so I'm wondering if it does both. Then again, we have a crop so I guies it would become like a 130?
Not really worth a comparison on crop. The biggest difference is the focal length. 85mm on a crop body is going to be very long for working with a subject. Most portrait photographers like to work at 85mm - 105mm as it gets them a pretty good compression while being at a workable distance. You heard him saying that you can't really use it inside... that because 130mm is just not super practical. There is more to photography than image quality...
I'm planning on getting the Sony a6600 soon and will use it for videoing important events and holiday trips. Sony NZ sells it for NZ$2,400 and the lens in this video is for NZ$1,000. Expensive kit but I want to be happy with a good camera for the next 10 years. May explore other lens options first. Plan to get my camera by June.
Was considering the A7 III but that's over NZ$3,000 for the body only. The lens in this video looks promising. The lens needs to have stabilization for 4k videos and AF and be good with night time shooting too. Sony is expensive but Sony pride themselves on quality which is what I like.
Had to pause the video & say I love all the sample shooting transitions. Spot on shooting with a very good looking model. That wide aperture got that mug shooting wonderfuly at night.
Thanks man, for reviewing this beast. I’ve been looking to upgrade my kit, and you made me take the decision to buy it. I’ve actually been waiting for you to post a video about it, because you are thourough and on point with the reviews. Sample images looks great, and overall a fantastic job done by Sony. I also read that image-quality is not far by any means compared to the 85mm GM. Thanks again, love your work!
Make no mistake.. the GM is another league of smooth bokeh, subject separation (3dish pop) and of course more light gathering. I tested the 1.8 and batis and ended up spending the extra money on the GM. Still the 1.8 is great and best value/Performance Sony lens.
@@jeffsiemens4485 Both lol i got a good deal on an a7rii and put the 85 on that and the 56 on my a6400. Both crazy sharp so if you only have an apsc camera with no want to move to full frame get the sigma. If your gonna go to full frame soon grab the 85.
@@HeroShotz could you please upload a comparison of both in the a6400, pretty please 🙏 There is many of us wishing to see the bokeh balls difference between the two. But you will need to get closer with the 56mm to have same angle and have some headshots plus full body would be awesome. 🙏🏼
denism131 I use the 56mm and it’s really a good lense. Very sharp and great AF👍... I do not know if I should buy the 85 anyway, because the Sigma 56mm is 85mm with Cropfactor on APSC 🤔
Own this lens on my a7r3, by far this is the best value for money lens vs sony's equivalent costing around 1300 dollars which only gives a bit better bokeh then this lens which i payed 549 at the time is a winner. If you need a portrait lens skip the g get this and save the dough.
Thanks, I have been requesting/waiting for you to review this lens and you did a great job reviewing it. The background blur is sooo smooth and I can only imagine what it would look like on something like the a7iii. Keep up the great work.
I have this lens I love it on my A6500! I live in San Antonio and we have been getting a lot of sun lately so I’ll be sure to be doing more outdoor portraits!! Thanks for this vid!
Don't you get a better optical performance when using a full frame lens on a cropped sensor since you're taking only the central area, which tends to be the sharpest on lenses? Great review btw!
You would think, but apparently from what lens experts say, for optimum optical performance you should be using the entire lens, giving you maximum so-called "lines of resolution."
Hey Arthur, I know that’s some vintage video of yours but I’d like to know if you recommend this lens over the sigma 56mm. Please consider I already have the sigma 30mm and I’m looking for a creamy bokeh portrait lens. Thanks a lot!
I asked Arthur no to long ago through Instagram and he said he would consider after having both available. If he does it, there will be sooo many of us either changing to the 85mm or keeping the 56mm lol on the whole RUclips universe
Nice i will buy this lens.better choice than sony 50mm oss?i have A6000.how difficult is to shoot indoors?it will be nice if you can do something to show us how far we can be to take some half body portraits or from shoulder.
The photos you have taken of your wife are possibly the best I have seen from your videos. I was considering buying a Zeiss 55mm f1.8 but the quality of this lens is so fantastic, I may reconsider, especially since this lens is about 200-300 usd cheaper. With the Zeiss, however, I could more easily take indoor photos on my sony full frame camera, and the reviews of that have been nothing but superlative, so which would you choose in my situation? CHeers
Love the videos man; you're one of the reasons I have the Sony 35 1.8 and the Sigma 16 1.4. Unfortunately because I started photography using primes, zooms just don't seem to cut it - they just don't have that je ne sais quoi. I rented the new 18-135 recently and was really underwhelmed. Do you think this lens would be well-suited as a general long lens? I enjoy taking really candid street photos, and often you just can't get that unless the subject isn't aware of you. However, I also occasionally need a good long lens for landscape-style stuff. Thoughts?
Hey Arthur can you make a video comparing the 85 F1.8 sony with the 56 F1.4 Sigma please ? I'm confused between the two. On one hand sigma is smaller, cheaper & F1.4 while on the other hand the 85mm focal length allows more compression and also a fullframe lens that I can grow with if I ever move to fullframe.
@@JonathanBarrow but could you still compare both of your lenses covering the same angle and look to compare the background (bokeh balls lol) and upload it, please.
Your videos are crisp and clear along with being very informative. Helped me quite a lot in buying my first Mirror-less Camera, Sony a6500; mostly to shoot my music videos and LIVE Jam sessions. What lens would you suggest for making music related videos, especially low-light, multiple instruments arrangements and live shows? Since I'm a bit new to this, would be grateful for the help. Thanks very much! Keep 'em coming.
Wow! 85mm is very amazing for portrait or bokeh. Please do a compare with 35mm and 50mm. Yes, i think this lens have a great and creamy bokeh, but with this focal length only usable at outdoor portrait photos.
I have configured my A6500 so that the focus hold button initiates Eye-AG and on the A6400 I programmed the focus hold button to initiate AF. This is easier for me than back button AF.
Please do a comparison between this and Sigma 56mm. On aps-c. I have the 85 but just got me the Sony 90mm macro. Not sure if it’s wise to sell the Sony 85 for the Sigma 56.
Lens is so fun to use. Have this mounted on my 6300. Since buying it my 50mm 1.8 has been left in the bag more often. Which is sad cause I love the 50mm. Would totally love to see your thoughts on both the 50 and 85. Might as well throw in that 30mm 1.4 for a sharpness test since all 3 are tac sharp. The “holy trinity” for the Sony crop sensors.
Great video and review. I've been thinking of getting the Sony FE 85 1.8 for my A6000 for portraits and this helped a lot. Would be nice to see a comparison between the Sony 85mm vs the Samyang/Rockinon 85mm f/1.4 .
Hello arthur! Not sure if you will notice this since its a very old video. But would you recommend thos lens over sigma 56 for sony apsc? What dosadvantage will the sony 85 1.8 have over sigma 56 1.4, besides price. I am okay woth price and even size and weight of both lenses, and i wosh to buy gear that should last me years. Sony os already quite old i see, is that a disadvantage?please throw some light. Thanks!!
Seems like a super lens... I am relatively happy with the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 lens with am MC-11 adapter. I use this for portraiture on my A6500. The IBIS of this camera really helps shooting with this lens. The Canon is also a pretty small lens and even with the MC-11 added, it doesn't overwhelm the A6500. I'd like Eye AF but, I am happy with Face or even with Manual focusing. I don't think that I will be spending the $500-600 for this lens.
Hey man, I've got an a6300 on the way. It's my first actual camera and I'm very excited about it. My girlfriend and I are going to Vegas pretty soon and I want to get one lens that can do just about anything well. I may be able to buy two new lenses before we end up leaving but just in case I can't, I was thinking about possibly getting this 85mm to be my first non-kit lens. Now, I know that the 35mm will be better indoors and more of an all around, wider shooter but I think that most of the photos I take on that trip will be out on the strip and such anyway. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I own an A6000 -- no in-body OSS. Should I get the cheaper and sharper Sigma 30mm F1.4 or Sony 35mm F1.8? Sigma is a cheaper, sharper lens. And I think a firmware update has fixed the focus issues. Sony lens has OSS, but lacks the punch. Please help.
Thanks, but I have seen the video. A new update has been rolled out by Sigma, and I want to know how much it has improved. I have observed that OSS in the lens makes a great difference for the A6000, and that's what is holding me back from buying the Sigma lens.
Minhaj Malik, you are right. The 1.4 Sigma lenses seem to be great but without the 6500 and for video I would go for the stabilized Sony lenses. What a pity! The price for the 6500 is a shame compared to the 6300 and even worse compared to the A7III.
Yeah, I think one is better off buying an A7III by putting in some extra money. I think I will just get the Sony 35mm lens. Thanks for your inputs though. :)
Thanks for the review, I was really waiting for this one! How far would you say you have to stand using an APS-C for a shot like the one in 4:03? I am curious because I plan on buying this and shoot in extremely crowded places (Shibuya for example) and I am afraid that having to stand way too far would make the shooting session kind of chaotic.
Thanks for the reply! I think that would be quite a stretch in APS-C then. Maybe when I can grab a full-frame. Shibuya's crossing has around 2000 people every green light, so 20ft without anyone interrupting would be quite a hard task. Keep it up, great video as always!
@@sandinoise OMG I didn't expect you to answer after a year of you putting this comment 😅 Thanks for that 🌷 But how did you come into this conclusion? Did you try both or relying on someone's advice? And why is it better?
@@ameen6768 because he has wider aperture and wider focal length, and in my country the price are the same, but if you're gonna upgrade your body into fullframe, the 85 is the winner
Hey nice Review! I have a question and I’ll be very thankful for every answer! So I got a A6000 with the kit-Lense and want to get my first good Lense. Most all of my photos are motocycle pictures. Should I buy a used 85mmf18, or a Sigma30mmF1.4. I know there is a huge difference between them but I like both very much. (Especially I saw that many motocycle photographers got the 85F1.8 lense .) I am a beginner so pls don’t judge me haha :)
I shoot on an A6300 without OSS and I'm wondering whether this or the sigma 56mm 1.4 is a better lens for portraits and video. I have the 18-105 G, but I need something for low-light.
Apologies if I am incorrect, but I thought the 85 1.8 would have, if Tony Northrop's edicts are to be believed, in fact, have a 1.5 x alteration to the aperture -= f 2.7. Is he correct?

Make no mistake.. the GM is another league of smooth bokeh, subject separation (3dish pop) and of course more light gathering. I tested the 1.8 and batis and ended up spending the extra money on the GM. Still the 1.8 is great and best value/Performance Sony lens.
Any thoughts
Sony 85mm 1.8 vs Sigma 56mm 1.4?
Im looking for the same answer to this question too lol better off getting both from adorama to try for 30 days and send back the one you dont like.
Hero Shotz which one did you keep?
@@jeffsiemens4485 Both lol i got a good deal on an a7rii and put the 85 on that and the 56 on my a6400. Both crazy sharp so if you only have an apsc camera with no want to move to full frame get the sigma. If your gonna go to full frame soon grab the 85.
@@HeroShotz could you please upload a comparison of both in the a6400, pretty please 🙏
There is many of us wishing to see the bokeh balls difference between the two. But you will need to get closer with the 56mm to have same angle and have some headshots plus full body would be awesome.
🙏🏼
Hey Arthur! Between this and the Sigma 56 1.4, which would you pick, if you could only pick one?
Brilliant lens. Sharp, fast and with great autofocus. You get much more than you pay for.
I have been waiting for this review!
Your review videos are very helpful, thank you, keep up the good work!
Hi,
i use the sigma 56mm 1.4 on my Alpha 6500… is there a big difference to the 85mm 1.8 ?
Would love to know since I can't decide which one to get.
denism131
I use the 56mm and it’s really a good lense.
What lens would you suggest for taking portraits of family .. indoor. Backdrop style. Thanks
Thanks, I have been requesting/waiting for you to review this lens and you did a great job reviewing it. The background blur is sooo smooth and I can only imagine what it would look like on something like the a7iii. Keep up the great work.
My favourite lens so far for the a6000 and a7❤️
I have this lens I love it on my A6500! I live in San Antonio and we have been getting a lot of sun lately so I’ll be sure to be doing more outdoor portraits!! Thanks for this vid!
Simple, clear and useful review.
Just added a Minolta 58mm 1.4 and it is sensational, paid $42
Hey Arthur, I know that’s some vintage video of yours but I’d like to know if you recommend this lens over the sigma 56mm.
Please consider I already have the sigma 30mm and I’m looking for a creamy bokeh portrait lens. Thanks a lot!
Sigma 56mm F1.4 vs sony FE 85mm F1.8 please
Jaroon Mingkaew wins sigma obviously 🙄
@@chicodesviado1944 sigma wins for sure
I asked Arthur no to long ago through Instagram and he said he would consider after having both available.
If he does it, there will be sooo many of us either changing to the 85mm or keeping the 56mm lol on the whole RUclips universe
Hi. I have a question. Which lens would you choose(for sony a6400): sony 85mm 1.8 (full frame) or sigma 56mm 1.4?
Sigma 56mm.
CHeers
I havent tried the zeiss 55mm, but you can't get much better than this lens for portraits for the money.
I love your reviews, I’m planning on purchasing this l Lands before my little vacation. Thank you for the awesome reviews.
Hello Arthur, can you make a comparison with this lens vs the Sigma 56mm DC? Thanks.
What a review MAN What a review...... Just Fantastic
It’s been a year since my last comment on this video. Today I’ve purchased this lens for my a6000.
Have you tried Sigma 56 1.4 ?
mr.Scemp no because I already own the Sony 50 1.8
@@JonathanBarrow but could you still compare both of your lenses covering the same angle and look to compare the background (bokeh balls lol) and upload it, please.
AJ Flores go to Arthur R’s channel. He already has that video up. It’s funny you say that because I watched it a couple days ago
@@JonathanBarrow I don't see any, just the old one vs Sony 50mm instead of 85mm.
How dare you to get me excited lol
Share the link, please
Your videos are crisp and clear along with being very informative. Helped me quite a lot in buying my first Mirror-less Camera, Sony a6500; mostly to shoot my music videos and LIVE Jam sessions. What lens would you suggest for making music related videos, especially low-light, multiple instruments arrangements and live shows? Since I'm a bit new to this, would be grateful for the help.
Thanks very much! Keep 'em coming.
Wow! 85mm is very amazing for portrait or bokeh.
Please do a compare with 35mm and 50mm.
Yes, i think this lens have a great and creamy bokeh, but with this focal length only usable at outdoor portrait photos.
i can just say dont use 85mm on APSC camera like A6xx . it will be huge problems with the focal length
Yeah, this will be like a 120mm lens, like a telephoto portrait lens. Ha ha ha...
ALMOST FIRST!!!VERY NICE LENS!!!
Dollar for dollar the best full frame prime on the market right now in my opinion.
Love your videos. Keep putting out great content.
Hey what do you think comparing it to the 85mm G master?
Lens is so fun to use. Have this mounted on my 6300. Since buying it my 50mm 1.8 has been left in the bag more often. Which is sad cause I love the 50mm. Would totally love to see your thoughts on both the 50 and 85. Might as well throw in that 30mm 1.4 for a sharpness test since all 3 are tac sharp. The “holy trinity” for the Sony crop sensors.
You cant say holy trinity without the Sigma 16mm! :)
In that case. Would love to see the holy "fournity" of (affordable) sony prime lenses.
Great video and review. I've been thinking of getting the Sony FE 85 1.8 for my A6000 for portraits and this helped a lot. Would be nice to see a comparison between the Sony 85mm vs the Samyang/Rockinon 85mm f/1.4 .
yeah but the samyang has no auto fucus
I'm confused. Which one should I get? Sony Zeiss 55mm 1.8 or Sony 85mm 1.8 for a6500? I will use it mainly for portraits.
I havent tested the 55mm, but the Sony 85mm is the best portrait lens I've ever used.
This combo is amazing!
Can you compare with Tokina 85mm F1.8 lens?
Is it compartable to sony a6300
...?
yes.
SUper lesnes. It's even sharper than sigmas 30mmf1.4, because it's has less chromatic aberation and bokhe is beautiful even on crop sensor.
i just got my a7 today with FE 50mm f1.8 and planning to buy this lens later. i hope that’d be good choice
just waiting for being delivered. trip to Copenhagen soon so great occasion to test it
Sigma 56mm f/1.4 vs Sigma 50mm f/1.4 FE both on crop sensor like a6300 or a6500 what you think which is better option ?
Hello arthur! Not sure if you will notice this since its a very old video. But would you recommend thos lens over sigma 56 for sony apsc? What dosadvantage will the sony 85 1.8 have over sigma 56 1.4, besides price. I am okay woth price and even size and weight of both lenses, and i wosh to buy gear that should last me years. Sony os already quite old i see, is that a disadvantage?please throw some light. Thanks!!
Is the 85mm lens good for the Sony 6000?
Seems like a super lens... I am relatively happy with the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 lens with am MC-11 adapter. I use this for portraiture on my A6500. The IBIS of this camera really helps shooting with this lens. The Canon is also a pretty small lens and even with the MC-11 added, it doesn't overwhelm the A6500. I'd like Eye AF but, I am happy with Face or even with Manual focusing. I don't think that I will be spending the $500-600 for this lens.
Hi
Which one do you recommend 85 mm or 35 mm for prime lens ?
35
Thanks for this review (I was super interested in seeing this lens on a crop sensor and you did not disappoint)
Can you compare with Sigma lens 16mm F1.4 ? Which one is better for portrait image?
The Sigma 16mm is a wide angle lens, not a portrait lens.
if you shoot with a fast enough shutter speed, do you think that will reduce blur because you don't have OSS nor IBIS?
does it feat just like this in my a6000 or i need a mount? thank you, Greetings from Greece
Hey Hi , Which budget Len you will suggest for Portrait on Sony A6000 as I bought few days ago please help me out as it will be my first lens
Minhaj Malik Good news. You don't have to wait any longer. This video exists since a year.
ruclips.net/video/wffYWgj8VYQ/видео.html
Can you please compare Sony 18-105mm and Sony 85mm, Im torn with buying one of these
This is the combo I use for Headshots right now.
I would estimate 20 feet away. Outside, it really isnt that bad - unless you are trying to get a head-to-toe shot.
Thanks for the reply! I think that would be quite a stretch in APS-C then. Maybe when I can grab a full-frame. Shibuya's crossing has around 2000 people every green light, so 20ft without anyone interrupting would be quite a hard task. Keep it up, great video as always!
comparison with sigma 56mm f1.4 please
Which one is better u think?
@@ameen6768 56mm f1.4 better
@@sandinoise OMG I didn't expect you to answer after a year of you putting this comment 😅
Thanks for that 🌷
But how did you come into this conclusion?
Did you try both or relying on someone's advice?
And why is it better?
@@ameen6768 because he has wider aperture and wider focal length, and in my country the price are the same, but if you're gonna upgrade your body into fullframe, the 85 is the winner
@@sandinoise isn't the 85mm better at compression and making a dreamy look with completely out of focus backgrounds?
Any chance doing a side by side comparison between Sony 85mm f1.8 vs Samyang 85mm f1.4?
Hey nice Review!
I have a question and I’ll be very thankful for every answer! So I got a A6000 with the kit-Lense and want to get my first good Lense. Most all of my photos are motocycle pictures. Should I buy a used 85mmf18, or a Sigma30mmF1.4. I know there is a huge difference between them but I like both very much. (Especially I saw that many motocycle photographers got the 85F1.8 lense .) I am a beginner so pls don’t judge me haha :)
do aware that 127.5mm is the actual focal length since you're using a APS-C sensor, happy shooting
Thanks for the video! I am looking forward to getting this for my A7II.
,.
Hey, do you suggest this lens for sport photography with a6300?
I wish we could see what aperture you were using
so faster than 50, would you recommend it for indoor sports?
I shoot on an A6300 without OSS and I'm wondering whether this or the sigma 56mm 1.4 is a better lens for portraits and video. I have the 18-105 G, but I need something for low-light.
Apologies if I am incorrect, but I thought the 85 1.8 would have, if Tony Northrop's edicts are to be believed, in fact, have a 1.5 x alteration to the aperture -= f 2.7. Is he correct?
would you recommend this lens for automotive photography?
no
