That guitar solo! Speaks to me in a way words can't. Pink Floyd are deeper than the Mariana trench, smoother than a quantum stabilized atom mirror, cooler than an iceberg in a river of liquid nitrogen and more zen than 1,000 Buddhist monasteries. Thanks for the reaction bro!

Pink Floyd was not ahead of their time. They created their own time and space. Pink Floyd helped my spirit and soul develop as a young girl in the 70s. I feel like they are a part of me and I know my life would be different if they weren’t with me on my journey. When it’s my time to leave I take solace knowing they will be with me.

Everyone sees further by standing on the shoulders who went before.
Roger Waters felt the same when he heard Sgt Peppers for the first time.
Without Sgt Peppers we would never have got Dark Side of the Moon.
But why did artists give up climbing the heights in favour of lesser things?
Punk was at its height when the Wall came out.

David rips his heart and soul, serves it directly to ours, deeply out of deepness and leaves us rethinking our existence. This is how the music is supposed to speak to us.

David Gilmore knows why he is here . He’s pursued that destiny everyday of his life . Many of us learned how to play an instrument but to be blessed with the creative mind required to put together such masterpieces is otherworldly . Maybe he can’t see it , being on the inside looking out , but to the rest of us , this is the eighth wonder of the world . I never had the privilege of seeing them in concert . Now that brief moment is gone . I don’t miss many concerts anymore .

You're right - I truly believe that Pink Floyd will still be listened to a hundred years from now. Not routinely for most, but they will be studied in music classes and held up as the premier example of prog rock, and the amazingly creative period of music that was the 60's - 80's, and there will still be those who light one up while drifting away on some PF. People still listen to Mozart - PF is my Mozart.

I might also mention, for 2 days before the concerts (they sold out 4 nights there) there were 'warnings' of UFO's flying over London on Radio 1 (kudos to Simon Mayo) , and one the first night part of the seating scaffold collapsed on one side of the arena: David Gilmour personally went to the hospital to visit every fan who was injured.

One of the Greatest Rock Performances ever, possibly the GOAT Rock guitar solo too!
Certainly, with all the lasers, incredible light show, phenomenal musicianship and the level of production here, and everything else is off the charts!
It sounds Sooo good and it's 1994, no Autotune or computers or any crutch of any kind, they did it all right in front of you!
Just a note: There are only 3 actual members of Pink Floyd here onstage, in fact there were only 3 members of PF from 1985, (when Roger Waters quit the band) up until 2008 when Rick Wright died from Cancer.
It's easy to tell which ones they are, they're the 3 old guys, lol,... David Gilmour, (guitar), Rick Wright, (keyboards, and Nick Mason, (drums). The other musicians onstage are Pink Floyds' touring band for that time or that tour'.
Pink Floyd was formed in London in 1964, so this Pulse Concert is 30 years later, so PF guys are all in their late 40s and early 50s.
Check out "Sorrow" from the same 1994 Pulse Concert, another great guitar solo from David Gilmour. There are so many from that Pulse Concert on RUclips and they're all unbelievably great, like "High Hopes", "Money", "Learning to Fly", and many more.

The big disco ball is highly symbolic.
First of all, it wasn't seen until the lights spotted it. It was simply not there! Hidden in a box in the ceilling. So when it got lit, you can understand why the audience went wild.
And then, when it opened up and showed the shining diamond that's inside, a direct reference to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which refer to Syd Barrett), the fans understood!
    Genius!

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

Yes! It looks like Pink Floyd probably brought you here to a place close to your soul, where you are at the same time connected to the rest. It must be something like that, but I can't really describe it well. You say “imagine if you were there!”, I was there in 1989 in a huge park in the Netherlands. The stage was so immense, I couldn't recognize the artists, they were so far away, but you saw everything, the stage was as big as an apartment building, the lightshow, my god!, lasers etc. combined with the music … and there were speakers on the corners of the park, the sound came from everywhere… When that huge disco ball opened it was like the heavens opened or something, unforgettable, and then that guitar solo that I didn't want to end, and none of the audience, really fantastic that this music has survived all time, analysis is not at all necessary, it touches you and you experience it.
That day of that concert in 1989 was in the summer and it was a beautiful summer day and so we all stood outside, what a sound... around sunset Pink Floyd started with “Shine on you crazy diamond” that was really magical.

You've got the really BEST COMMENTS I've ever heard about this song when you affirm that the first part of the bridge is quietly sad and then, the harmonies go up & we can feel and see the open window and the full Sun which is comin'in ! That cannot be said any better ! Congratulations for U and this is what I call The Ultimate Band of All Time !!!

Saw them live first back in '73... this pulse tour in 1994 was one of the most precise, performances and productions I've ever seen. So happy for everyone who's seeing this for first time... it'll be just as good 30 years from now. 👍

We lost our only son that could play this and would her him play this in our basement and others. This song so reminds me of him and what we lost and brings me to tears .This song reminds me why he wanted to be numb .After serving in Iraq he was trying to numb himself from the pain and was self medicating and someone gave him pure fentanyl and basically murdered him .He was so talented at everything he did .A light that shined so bright it eventually goes out .We miss him so much it’s hard .Keep thinking he will walk through that front door again .Love your passion for music .

I was there..well not there but at the Feyenoord Stadium Rotterdam (during their tour). Imagine yourself being there, with the glitter ball in the middle of the pitch illuminating the whole stadium. And....with quadrophonic sound. What a joy to witness. A fantastic experience. (Seen Pink Floyd multiple times and after that David Gilmour solo). There are some great cover bands, check them for perhaps some gigs over at your place.

Saw these guys 2 nights in a row in Oakland on this tour. AWESOME. Dude just comes out in a simple tee shirt & I swear that almost every video I've ever seen him in....he's NOT flashy about it. The man leaves the 'stank-face' at home & you might catch a slight smile or something....but he lets the guitar do ALL the talkin'. He looks almost bored....LOL.

There are no superlatives adequate to describe the Pulse concerts. Reduces me to a teary eyed wreck everytime I see and hear it. Pink Floyd are a British gift to the world. So proud of them. Also a great and unexpected live set was the Live 8 performance, the band had not played live together for 20 years, yet they delivered a set that soared accross the Londons night sky, it blew everyone away and there were some heavy hitters in that line up that day/night! Subsequently Dark side of the moon went back to number 1 in the album charts and a whole new generation got to see and hear progressive rock music at its absolute perfect best. Peace my friend I envy you starting out on your Pink Floyd journey✌️

Yes, I can imagine as I was at the show in San Antonio. What totally blew me away was of course, the light show, but also the ENORMITY of the stage. Look at how small the performers look compared to how high the lights in the arc go. Can you imagine the roadies who have to assemble and disassemble that monster two or three times a week?

I was there in 94, watching this live at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, that was amazing, best time of my life. After that, I've been to several Roger Water concert, featuring this song, all amazing time, but this performance was truly the best. Live 8 reunion is very close, same for live in Berlin, but both missing just a little something to top this one.
I enjoyed your face reaction just as much as the song, epic... the face of a new floydian... welcome to the next level FTB... this is better than heroin, since each time you watch(and listen) you get the high again. 30 years floydian here, thousands of hours of listening, and I still get the same high, and this is valid for anything after(including) DSOTM and a lot before it, ECHOES(among others) is amazing. Thank you for this publication. Now do some homework, go try Animal, Wish you were here, The Final Cut, the rest of The Wall.... and so much more.
WELCOME MY SON, WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!!!

Great review! Just subscribed to watch you go down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. Having been a fan for 50+ years, I know they're going to blow you away! Personally been to quite a few of their concerts and saw Pulse twice, in 2 different states. It was an experience, not just a concert and IMO nobody compares to these guys who are masters of their craft! Just fyi, any song from Pulse is great but you may want to check out Sorrow from same concert. Another great guitar solo!
