That ending guitar solo brings out every emotion in me. Pain, sadness and joy. I'll be honest, every time I hear it it brings tears to my eyes. That truly is the greatest guitar solo of all time.
i was there , twice, as folk left the arena nobody was talking , just mouths open , eyes agog , fucked .
Completely agree.
Yup..
I got to see this live in ‘94 and was one of the greatest moments of my life
The part when the glitter ball opens up is so weirdly powerful. Sounds like his guitar is crying out.
The only Guitar Solo to make a 65 year old man CRY every time !!!!
The same, growing with them has been such an incredible gift
The second solo is considered by many to be the greatest guitar solo ever. When the disco ball comes down and opens up, in the middle is a diamond, a nod to Syd Barrett.
I can definitely agree so far this was the best solo I’ve heard on this rock journey. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I was at this performance
@@davidlittman7194 I saw it at Vanderbilt Football Stadium in Nashville
I was at Vanderbilt stadium as well. Fan of Floyd’s since 1973.
That guitar solo! Speaks to me in a way words can't. Pink Floyd are deeper than the Mariana trench, smoother than a quantum stabilized atom mirror, cooler than an iceberg in a river of liquid nitrogen and more zen than 1,000 Buddhist monasteries. Thanks for the reaction bro!
hahaha, and when i re-read this imagining Blackadder saying it it was even better :-)
I was there and it was ……lost for words
Beautiful response!
@@garyloss2878 Thank you!
That's probably the best description of an indescribable sound!
Pink Floyd was not ahead of their time. They created their own time and space. Pink Floyd helped my spirit and soul develop as a young girl in the 70s. I feel like they are a part of me and I know my life would be different if they weren’t with me on my journey. When it’s my time to leave I take solace knowing they will be with me.
Everyone sees further by standing on the shoulders who went before.
Roger Waters felt the same when he heard Sgt Peppers for the first time.
Without Sgt Peppers we would never have got Dark Side of the Moon.
But why did artists give up climbing the heights in favour of lesser things?
Punk was at its height when the Wall came out.
I have always referred to their music as "Blues from the 25th Century". Nobody else even comes close.
Wow, After watching this amazing video, I was wondering what could blow my mind further, and then, I see your poetic assessment of it, and I say, now that answers a lot of questions that none of us have been able to answer or even try to put into words!
I agree 100%! The first time I heard them (Hey You), I stared at the radio the entire length of the song with my mouth open. My mind couldn't reconcile what it was hearing. I feel blessed and fortunate to be alive so I can hear Pink Floyd.
No if ands or buts, they are the greatest band ever.🔥🔥💯💯
How many times have I heard this song, watched this performance-I could not even count. Yet, I still get goosebumps every single time. It is my favorite song of all time, from my favorite band of all time. And that is why-I still feel the same things when I listen to their masterpieces, no matter how many times I have heard them.
Same
Yep.
When i was a teenager and the song would come on the radio, I'd scream every single time! I cry every time I hear this solo. Pink Floyd is the ceiling, everyone else is the floor. No one comes close.
@@jacquelyndavis7296 Well said!
Amen. Pink Floyd is the standard. No one else meets the standard. Greatest of all time. Period.
I've been listening to them for 50yrs and you people will still be listening 50yrs from now, Run like He'll, Sorrow, learning to fly or anything from this concert, they are an experience love your reactions ❤️
You're right - I truly believe that Pink Floyd will still be listened to a hundred years from now. Not routinely for most, but they will be studied in music classes and held up as the premier example of prog rock, and the amazingly creative period of music that was the 60's - 80's, and there will still be those who light one up while drifting away on some PF. People still listen to Mozart - PF is my Mozart.
"Run Like HELL."
David Gilmore knows why he is here . He’s pursued that destiny everyday of his life . Many of us learned how to play an instrument but to be blessed with the creative mind required to put together such masterpieces is otherworldly . Maybe he can’t see it , being on the inside looking out , but to the rest of us , this is the eighth wonder of the world . I never had the privilege of seeing them in concert . Now that brief moment is gone . I don’t miss many concerts anymore .
I was raised on this music, and I can say I was truly blessed to have be born early enough to experience it.
Love watching youngsters discover real music that we were appreciating 50 years ago.
Art like this is timeless and will be enjoyed for countless generations.
Think about it, in 500 years and in 1000 years, kids will be mind-blown by Pink Floyd.
I truly believe that, and 1000 years is not even a stretch.
This track gets me every time. I'm 64 now, and the tears still well up in my eyes as I'm transported into another world by the sheer soulfulness of the guitar solo. Thanks for your reaction, it sounds like another Floyd fan has been born.
Me too, and I am not 64 until next month😮
Just turned 64 and same for me
61 brother! Right there with you!! That live version beats ALL OTHERS!
I'm 64 as well...saw PF in 75 and 77 and Roger Waters solo a couple times too. When I get to heaven I'll book Yes, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer and Pink Floyd for my first concert show.
I'm with you.
The fact that Pink Floyd's album "Dark side of the moon " was in Australia's top 100 for 751 weeks speaks volumes for how outstanding they were... and still are.
Long live Pink Floyd..
Wow. I've been a fan for 40 years. That is an interesting factoid.
The note he hits at 10:57 is the most beautiful note ever played in a live performance imo.
I was there :) The real highlight was the encore: They played the entire Dark Side Of The Moon with all the original screen footage in the 2nd half (special note goes to One of these days with double pigs and the plane crashing into the tower earlier in the concert)
I might also mention, for 2 days before the concerts (they sold out 4 nights there) there were 'warnings' of UFO's flying over London on Radio 1 (kudos to Simon Mayo) , and one the first night part of the seating scaffold collapsed on one side of the arena: David Gilmour personally went to the hospital to visit every fan who was injured.
I had forgotten that bit! Saw the Rotterdam gig, Earls Court had extra nights added, soome mates got tickets, but the van broke down, and they never got there!
To say that I'm jealous wouldn't even begin to describe how I feel. You are so lucky. I saw them in 1988 in Boston. Truly a life changing experience.
New Orleans version, life changing
Me too! Best concert of my life... it was my mum's first ever rock concert, ruiend for ever!! :)
With a band like Pink Floyd that sounds this good live you can't go wrong a live performance. I've seen them live a few times and every time they sounded this good. Delicate Sound of Thunder is another great concert video that is well worth a listen.
Greatest Guitar solo. I was so lucky to be there. Athereal, Spiritual Godlike.
I was there too, stage left about three rows up, I was out with the fairies most of the concert but THIS...................wow.
I'm 27 and this is one of the best concerts! My dad showed it to me years ago on DVD and I'll never forget it!
if you have ever heard the phase, "the skies lit up like a Pink Floyd concert." Then you know that person saw a hell of a light show.
It truly doesn't get better than Pink Floyd. My day doesn't feel right if I don't listen to some Pink Floyd. I'm so glad you found them, it only gets better from here. Doesn't sound possible but you'll see. 🌈💗✌🏽
I listen to them daily. Keep waiting to get tired of them, but it hasn’t happened in 40+ years!
Greatest guitar solo of ALL TIME.
" Imagine beeing there..." you say?! I was there !!! It was the money best spent in my intire life. It was stratospheric, it was magical, it was a mix of fellings, to explain Pink Floyd, it's to try to explain the universe !! They are legends.
i saw them in the 80s...this concert looks incredible
The greatest version of the greatest guitar solo. Moves me every time.
If you want to hear and see them at their peak of musicianship, you should watch the "Live at Pompeii" concert.
They recorded it in the 70s during the period they wrote Darkside of the Moon and Meddle.
I am truly blessed!!! I got to see them live in concert. TWICE!!!!!!
David rips his heart and soul, serves it directly to ours, deeply out of deepness and leaves us rethinking our existence. This is how the music is supposed to speak to us.
This is, by far, one of the greatest guitar solos I've ever heard. So powerful and passionate.
My HS graduating class of '79 voted "Another Brick In The Wall" and "Comfortably Numb" as our favorites. I'm almost 62 now and nothing has changed. What an iconic rendition.
One of the Greatest Rock Performances ever, possibly the GOAT Rock guitar solo too!
Certainly, with all the lasers, incredible light show, phenomenal musicianship and the level of production here, and everything else is off the charts!
It sounds Sooo good and it's 1994, no Autotune or computers or any crutch of any kind, they did it all right in front of you!
Just a note: There are only 3 actual members of Pink Floyd here onstage, in fact there were only 3 members of PF from 1985, (when Roger Waters quit the band) up until 2008 when Rick Wright died from Cancer.
It's easy to tell which ones they are, they're the 3 old guys, lol,... David Gilmour, (guitar), Rick Wright, (keyboards, and Nick Mason, (drums). The other musicians onstage are Pink Floyds' touring band for that time or that tour'.
Pink Floyd was formed in London in 1964, so this Pulse Concert is 30 years later, so PF guys are all in their late 40s and early 50s.
Check out "Sorrow" from the same 1994 Pulse Concert, another great guitar solo from David Gilmour. There are so many from that Pulse Concert on RUclips and they're all unbelievably great, like "High Hopes", "Money", "Learning to Fly", and many more.
I was at this concert in Earl's Court, London. The gig was pulled just as the intro for SOYCD was building up for the opening of the show due to a seat collapse. Some injuries but no fatalities thank goodness.
We were told to keep our ticket stub and came back two weeks later and they blew us away. Mind you, I was caned off my head on weed as were my friends and it seemed the whole audience! Magical.
A moment in my life I'll remember forever
What I love most about this video is the shots showing the crowd and they’re all just hypnotized lol
This is an epic masterpiece. Nobody can give the almost ethereal vibes that Pink Floyd does. Their music pulls you in and pervades all your senses. It’s almost like an altered level of consciousness. 😌🔥🤩
The story goes that the audience left that concert with their mouths and their eyes WIDE OPEN and *TOTALLY SILENT*
They were completely *_AWESTRUCK_* by what they had just experienced
Absolutely true. I was at this exact concert and there was hardly any talking after. Nothing has come close to making the emotions felt that night.
A life event for me.
If I remember, it was a pretty quiet ride home after...
that is exactly what it was like. A lot of rock concerts there is a bunch of screaming during a performance. That second guitar solo simply mesmerized all of us. I recently went o a roger waters concert. No comparison, Gilmour was the true talent of that group with guitar playing.
I was there, too. The Vancouver show. I was in the highest priced seats. Not too close, not too far.. and ya, I lost 30 minutes of my life in there trance.
This was a feast for the eyes as well as the ears ! Truly a wonderful performance and you can only imagine what it was like to be there on that historical night!
One thing I never see get any credit is the lighting Pink Floyd uses. It reinforces the music so much. Just like with this song, it makes you feel like you're falling into the madness yourself. Many bands are considered timeless, but Pink Floyd transcends them all.
I think the video doesn’t give the light show it’s due diligence and credit. Some experiences are best live, but I’ll happily take what I can get from Pinkfloyd. #PinkFloyd.
Pink Floyd is amazing. Aren't they? My favorite band for 50 years now.
I've listened to that piece many many times since The Wall came out and it still gives me goose bumps!
I was fortunate enough to see their final concert in 1994 at Three rivers stadium in Pittsburgh. I still get goosebumps and tears to this day every time I hear it. My favorite band forever!
I agree saw them twice Division Bell Tour 1994 the best concert ever!!!!
I've been to only 1 pink floyd concert in 1977 and it was mind blowing! Actually mind blowing is an understatement! it just has to be experienced live is all I can say!
Good to see that the young folks can still appreciate good music. Feeling sorry for you that you won’t be able to enjoy floyd life on stage anymore. This was mindblowing - every f$&@ng time !
🤣🤣I believe it! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
This song is like a religious experience- in the last part of the guitar solo makes you feel like your raising up into the heavens!!! Amazing!! Great reaction!!
I’ve seen some big bands, but this was by far the best concert I ever went to. The performance and sound was unbelievable. One of the best guitar solos ever done.
Purchased this concert through Apple Music, and it is loaded in my phone. Some of the best money I’ve spent. A wonderful, beautiful show by one of the greatest bands of all time at the peak of their powers.
The entire solo makes me emotional every single time! No other song brings music and vision into complete sync
There are no superlatives adequate to describe the Pulse concerts. Reduces me to a teary eyed wreck everytime I see and hear it. Pink Floyd are a British gift to the world. So proud of them. Also a great and unexpected live set was the Live 8 performance, the band had not played live together for 20 years, yet they delivered a set that soared accross the Londons night sky, it blew everyone away and there were some heavy hitters in that line up that day/night! Subsequently Dark side of the moon went back to number 1 in the album charts and a whole new generation got to see and hear progressive rock music at its absolute perfect best. Peace my friend I envy you starting out on your Pink Floyd journey✌️
I don't think my mind would recover from seeing them live. I wouldn't leave
The audience is mesmerized during the whole song. Not only are they hearing the music they're experiencing it.
It’s almost speechless in a way of there’s no words to describe how incredible they are. Have to react to all the songs on Dark Side of the Moon album and the Wish You Were Here album from them for sure!!
This is Pink Floyd, true legends for all music lovers.
And live an experience without competition. Some light, some lasers and just pure music and the love for it.
Yes, I can imagine as I was at the show in San Antonio. What totally blew me away was of course, the light show, but also the ENORMITY of the stage. Look at how small the performers look compared to how high the lights in the arc go. Can you imagine the roadies who have to assemble and disassemble that monster two or three times a week?
The emotions and chills throughout my body on that last guitar solo are overwhelming!! Bravo!!
Saw these guys 2 nights in a row in Oakland on this tour. AWESOME. Dude just comes out in a simple tee shirt & I swear that almost every video I've ever seen him in....he's NOT flashy about it. The man leaves the 'stank-face' at home & you might catch a slight smile or something....but he lets the guitar do ALL the talkin'. He looks almost bored....LOL.
I could have been at that show (in Oakland) but didn't go, like an idiot.
I saw this live, and have watched this dozens if not hundreds of times since, and I still get goosebumps. One of the longest guitar solos ever, and yet it still feels too short
I saw this tour back in 94 when i was 23. To this day i havent seen another show that couldn't touch this concert. Unbelievable show. Wow is right
It's a 43-year-old song, and it still makes a hurricane of emotions in you. A masterpiece! This is what Pink Floyd is doing for half a century yet.
I got to go to the concert in Wisconsin, such an amazing show. Was about 20 rows back center stage. There was a light rain falling which hit the laser lights and the whole sky sparkled. Pink Floyd has been my favorite band since I was a kid. Such emotional music.
welcome to the world of Pink Floyd .. the goosebumps flow
From the same PULSE CONCERT, check out SORROW and also RUN LIKE HELL (for Run Like Hell, be sure to fasten your seat belt).
Best guitar solo ever played on this planet! For more Pink Floyd live at „Pulse“: I recommend „High Hopes“, „Keep Talking“ and „Shine on you crazy diamond“!
I read somewhere, "Leo Fender made the guitar, God made Dave Gilmour to play it...." You don't listen t Pink Floyd, you experience it!
😎👍🎸✨✨
You just witnessed one of the greatest guitar solos ever !! I saw Pink Floyd around this time, and the concert was everything you could imagine. Awesome music, light show, and performance !! One of the best concerts I ever saw !!
Oh Pink Floyd is a soled 10/10 band…left me speechless on 3 different songs lol
That guitar has bars. There are 3 songs happening here. The song being sung, the song being played, and the song being heard.
I was there 28 years ago. Still haven't got over it..best night of my life
The best concert I ever went to. Earls court rocked with the largest surround sound system ever created. Huge lasers, massive backdrops. Heaven to my senses!!!
I was there. Amazing. Loved seeing your reaction... pretty much my reaction at the time. Saw them live first back in '73... this pulse tour in 1994 was one of the most precise, performances and productions I've ever seen. So happy for everyone who's seeing this for first time... it'll be just as good 30 years from now. 👍
R.E.S.P.E.C.T Sir.
Right as the second (longer) solo started, you said "can you imagine being there? I was at the 1994 Pulse show in Washington DC RFK Stadium and I will tell you, YES it was as amazing and magical and life altering just as you may imagine it was. I love watching people see/hear this for the first time and watching their faces. It's like watching someone become reborn!
I first saw them live at Knebworth in 1975, when I was fourteen. I've since seen them play on numerous occasions and every gig has been memorable. There's no other band in the world who can deliver a live music show like Pink Floyd. Cheers from the UK!
I saw them there too! I was twenty, now 67..... I also saw them at Bingley Hall Stafford.
Did you see Genesis and Led Zep at Knebworth too?
@@krg1605 It's the only time I went to Knebworth. I've seen Led Zeppelin play numerous times, though Genesis were never my cup of tea. For some reason they were considered extremely unhip - maybe it was the theatricality of their shows, or what we perceived as self-indulgence in their music. In fact you could say that we became punks because of bands like Genesis. Compared with Deep Purple, Led Zep, and many of the other rock bands I saw back in the day, their music was dull and uninspiring.
I worked at a stereo store years ago. I was 19-20 at the time...
Anyways I lent out my 2 CD set to a young part-timer. He came back with a reaction that would take me forever to text!!
I was lucky enough to be at this and another 6 concerts of pink Floyd in the 80's 90's and 00's
The FIRST GIG I ever went to was Pink Floyd at Wembley Stadium.
I was lucky enough to win tickets for Live8 so saw the last performance when they reunited with Roger
So wonderful to relive here
Lucky ain’t the word lol
Great review! Just subscribed to watch you go down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. Having been a fan for 50+ years, I know they're going to blow you away! Personally been to quite a few of their concerts and saw Pulse twice, in 2 different states. It was an experience, not just a concert and IMO nobody compares to these guys who are masters of their craft! Just fyi, any song from Pulse is great but you may want to check out Sorrow from same concert. Another great guitar solo!
saw it live in mass in 1994. the greatest show i’ve ever seen hands down.
I was at that same concert at the old Foxboro stadium! Best ever
Same. And I still remember my ticket cost $90. Pretty good seats, too!
#1 ROGER WATERS FAN!!!!!!!!!
I was at that actual concert back in 94, was unbelievable! Brought back memories
First Rule, Never pause during a Gilmour solo. Second Rule..NEVER take your eyes off of the performance. Pink Floyd is the only band that can perform studio quality at a concert. Every song performed at this concert is exactly like this one
Can you imagine being there? I was. Left side about 6 rows up . I can't describe what it's like to be with 30,000 spellbound people.
Saw this tour at Foxboro in 94, went with no tickets, ended up scoring tickets and some acid for the show. I literally cried tears of joy at the beauty and wonder of live pink floyd.
Yes! I saw them live in the Tampa Arena in 1988 ot 89. I was tripp'in on Orange Sunshine and everyone passing copious amounts of joints. It is an experience that is one of the great wonders of the world 🌍 definitely an out of body experience yet your awestruck by the sights, sounds and the arena thundering beneath your feet.
yes I can imagine being there, because I was, not at that particular concert but at another one on the same tour in 1994
Pulse IMHO is the greatest live (Rock) concert of all time
ive heard this many many times and it still gets me!
I was at the Oakland Coliseum performance. Best sound quality I ever heard at a live concert, like some billionaire's $100,000 home stereo. Crystal-clear and mind-blowing! Stood in line all night to get tickets.
Half of the concert was the band playing the DARK SIDE OF THE MOON album in it's entirety. That was priceless and unforgettable.
Glad you're a fan, and that you're continuing your Pink Floyd journey. If you want to see them perform when they were young, do "Echoes" live at Pompeii from 1972.
Remeber these are stories and the entire album told a story. Rodger continued this style after Pink Floyd. Listen to the entire albums and you'll be amazed where it takes you. There's the journey of all our lives from that place and time. They never get old, these stories. Worth being told and put to music. I think it captured the feel of the times.
I was at The Division Bell Tour on May 29th 1994 when the were Columbus at the Horseshoe Stadium. It was absolutely perfect. Well worth it!!!
What a journey ❤ they are something else. I’d love to see them just one more time.
Saw this show 2x in 1994.
North Carolina & New Jersey.
Different songs each show, but both had Comfortably Numb.
Was an amazing experience that I still remember vividly today- 28 years later.
This was the EDITED and CUT VERSION. Over 1 minute of guitar finale was cut out. Just add UNCUT to title of song, and check out FULL version!
"Can you imagine being there?" I was my friend and it was awesome! Earls Court October 1994!
This is one of if not the best songs of all time. Every time I hear it it’s like the first time. Sheer amazement. It’s like I can feel it in my soul my entire body buzzing
The entire PULSE concert was unbelievable! Watch them do Run Like Hell. Thats how they end the concert. Insane.
The greatest guitar solo in the history of Rock and maybe in history period.
Omg!! You have to see Sorrow at Pulse!! It will blow your freaking mind
You said it right : Goosebumps … that is what I get every time I hear this guitarsolo , just out of this world !!
They go from minor keys to major key. The minor keys are sad and foreboding and the major keys are uplifting and happier.
I was lucky enough to attend both of their shows in Dallas during this tour. Greatest weekend ever!
The big disco ball is highly symbolic.
First of all, it wasn't seen until the lights spotted it. It was simply not there! Hidden in a box in the ceilling. So when it got lit, you can understand why the audience went wild.
And then, when it opened up and showed the shining diamond that's inside, a direct reference to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which refer to Syd Barrett), the fans understood!
Genius!
I thought you'd like to know that Pink Floyd are on tour in Australia at the moment. They will be doing North America leg as well. It's not going to be cheap. But you will not regret a cent of it. Imagine being in the stadium when they play live. And their light show is indiscribable. You will not only have a unbelieveble memory for life. You will be able to pass on that knowledge to the next generation of music lovers. GO!
It's amazing to watch a person listen to a band that has been your absolute favorite for over forty years! And no one over the years has been able to move them from this place!!! "Shine on you crazy diamond" - for me, an absolute explosion of the brain and the most favorite song.
I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
SRV is the only other person able to evoke such emotion with his instrument. Both truly great in their own right.
If you love this, you will love Sorrow from the same concert!
It is awesome, also same song live from Pompeii Gilmour
