I know the audio during the video wasn't the best, I had to use the audio from the camera because the video just overpowered my mic. If anyone has any advice on that let me know. I'd greatly appreciate it!

Consider yourself taught. Lol.
Learn the 1st position of the minor pentatonic scale. That is the secret to this solo. The bulk of it is built around a triplet run in 1st position B minor pentatonic.
Actually ... 1st position minor pentatonic is a great finger exercise and introduction to scales. Can't recommend you try it enough. It's used in nearly all popular music.

I will forever be envious of you and at the same time happy for you. Nobody will ever be able to top what Pink Floyd did to promote The Division Bell album. Released in 1979 and even those of us who have heard this music ever since it came out 42 years ago just close our eyes and let it wash over us. These guys are legends, not only for this song, or even this album, but for pretty much their entire body of work.

I’m 17 and the first time I heard any Pink Floyd song was about 3 weeks ago. I can’t believe I never listened earlier. It’s awesome seeing other people listening to PF for the first time. I hope more people of my generation would listen to these timeless masterpieces.
I am almost 20 years older than you, and I have also discovered Pink Floyd only recently, so I get what you are saying. At the same time, it now feels as if I hat known them for my whole life. There is something truly magical about this band.

I'm a 71 year old rocker and I love seeing and hearing people discover PF for the 1st time. It brings me back to my younger days when you shared a new album or group with your friends. Hearing this tune somehow always brings a tear to my eyes. David Gilmour is a premier guitarist who's soulful solos bring out emotions unlike any other player. Congrats on discovering a new group. Now try listening to "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Animals", and as always listen to a PF album from start to finish. It is an experience not a collection of songs.

Seen Pulse concert twice. Still get goosebumps when hearing this! Most unbelievable concert ever been too and I've been to a lot of concerts! So blessed to have grown up in 60's and 70s music. No autotune, pure talent!

So when you don’t sound like David Gilmore right out of the gate, don’t get frustrated and quit. Just get a guitar. Any guitar. Learn to play it. These amazing guitarists didn’t start out playing expensive guitars. They just played. Every single day, sometimes all day, they played. It has been said it takes 10,000 hours to truly “master” ANYTHING. Be patient, and you’ll find it’s a great way to not only express yourself, but to blow off steam too! Loved your reaction. Run Like Hell is ridiculously good. I think Sam Brown (Stop, With a Little Love etc) was doing back ups for Pink Floyd for this tour.

Pink Floyd is a great band. David Gilmour is the guitarist and lead singer. Anything from the Pulse concert is worth reacting to, but if you like his guitar solos, check out the song 'Sorrow' from Pulse. I personally think it's even more intense than 'Comfortably Numb.' I also was fortunate to see David Gilmour in concert in 2016. He performed a lot of songs both from Pink Floyd and from his solo work. He was 70 years old that year and put on an amazing performance.
You cant go wrong with Pink Floyd: Sorrow, Run, High Hopes, Echoes 1 & 2...Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall....Any of it....I seen them twice live

I think today's music is just insipid and I love that younger people are discovering the really great music of the latter part of the 20th century. I'm hoping that the more they hear it the more they'll crave it and that new song writers and musicians will arise to accommodate the demand for good music. ✌💗🖖

I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know, and I know all the great ones.

Dude, David Gilmour has an amazing talent for being able to translate emotion into the guitar. Pink Floyd’s albums Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here put it on display, definitely worth the listen if you enjoyed the live performance. He’s playing an American made Fender Stratocaster, since you want to play. The Americans are pricey, but there are plenty of more affordable models of the Stratocaster and would be a great first guitar.

That stage set is legendary, never seen anything like it.
i could name dozens of songs you should watch. they´re the most influential and biggest band of all time, gilmour being one of the greatest guitarists of all time. here in 1994 they were already going for 30 years. their 1973 album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is considered the most influential album of all time (alongside the beatles´ sgt pepper album). it is a concept album and the 4th highest selling album ever. you would do yourself (and all of us) a favor if you would do that album in one go (songs being connected, it´s almost a must).
"Lonely hearts club band" was greatly influenced by Pink Floyd. Both bands were recording at Abbey Road recording studio at the time. When the Beatles heard Floyd, it blew their minds. The Beatles didn't feel so great after hearing what Pink Floyd was turning out.
Imagine seeing this show live. I saw them 5 times on this tour, and they were so precise that it was note perfect every time. And back in '94, nobody had cell phones, so they actually paid attention to the concert. Also, saw them on the Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour, which was also amazing.
A Pink Floyd concert was not merely a concert it was an “experience.” I saw them twice once in ‘77 & once in ‘80. Way before this came out. BTW if you want to see a great guitarist watch Stevie Ray Vaughan “Texas Flood” live

THE best solo of all time. So many good songs by Pink Floyd. Find a copy of "Dark Side of the Moon", close the curtains, turn off the lights, lie down put on your headphones and listen to the whole album without a break. You won't regret it.

He’s in the top ten for sure, but I think you’d struggle to find a list with him at 1. With that said, he is a master, and this solo is probably my favorite of all time.

I'm always happy to see when a new reaction video comes up on Comfortably Numb. As many others have said, you have just witnessed one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded preformed by one of the best, most emotional, guitarists to ever grace a stage.
This particular concert was recorded on 20 October 1994, Earls Court, London. This version is widely regarded as one of the best versions of Comfortably Numb ever recorded. I won't go into the meaning behind the song but Comfortably Numb is essentially a duet with David Gilmour providing two of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded. As the ending solo begins, it starts off into a beautiful melody but as the solo continues, it develops into a gigantic crescendo of unbridled passion and emotion. David Gilmour is that special, once in a generation person, that is able to bring out true emotion from his playing. I read a quote from someone once that read "Legend has it, all guitars want David Gilmour for Christmas".

That guitar solo for me is just, well, you know when you hear a song, and no matter how many times you hear it, you just feel amazing hearing it? How it makes anything you are doing that much better? That is what that guitar solo is for me. Every time I hear it, it puts me in an awesome mood.
This man is a translator....he passes his emotions thru his fingers that connect with his guitar that drives incredible levels of energy...I doubt it's measurable...
Now it's in your head. Now you'll be hearing it forever, and that's a good thing.

The Pulse concert is amazing. The 1994 light show technology probably surpasses what is available today in 2021 (27 years later). You get to see 3 members of Pink Floyd from the 1960’s putting on a spectacular live performance at around age 50.
I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…
I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

Check out Pink Floyds 'Sorrow' from the same 1994 Pulse Concert. Also 'High Hopes', another spectacular performance. I've been a huge Pink Floyd fan since they released their 'Dark Side of the Moon album in 1973, I was 17.
Pink Floyd is a British Rock band formed in London in 1965. They have been tremendously successful over the decades, selling over 450 million albums world wide. That would be 2nd place on the all-time albums sold list, second only to The Beatles.
And the song "Run Like Hell" from that concert, too!
I flew from Australia just to be at that concert, if you thought that solo was amazing, the solo at the concert was 3.5 minutes longer. you can find the uncut version on youtube. if i posted it to you it would get blocked. they have a song called "wish you were here" it is done with an acoustic guitar on the record, that was the song i taught myself to play a guitar with. i first got into Pink Floyd 1969. yes i am old. this version of Comfortably Numb takes me back to the concert every time i hear it

Another great solo you have to check out is Chicago playing “25 or 6 to 4” Live at Tanglewood 1970. Terry Kath absolutely kills it. When someone asked Hendrix what it was like to be the world’s greatest guitarist, Jimi said “I don’t know. Ask Terry Kath.” Take a listen to this and you’ll know why he said it.

"They're so different." Yup, that's Pink Floyd. I've been listening to them since 1975, and they are my all time favourite band, so yeah, I'm biased. Of all the great groups I've listened to in my life, Pink Floyd is/was always a notch above any other band. I was at a show in the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, over 74,000 fans!!! Also, the version you watched here has over a minute of the guitar finale CUT OUT! This is because David Gilmore, the guitarist, played a coupld of 'dodgy notes', (I'm no expert, but I don't think they were dodgy.), so he had the video editted. But to make it seamless, they had to cut over a minute out of the video. To see the uncut version, just type in group, song, pulse tour UNCUT, and judge for yourself!!
One of the things I find so amazing about David Gilmour is he looks like he dressed for and just walked out of the dollar store...and then he does this!

His guitar playing is about expressing emotion rather than just being technically fast. Pink Floyd no longer tours and is no longer a band as Roger waters left in 1983 and Richard Wright died 2008. Check out the song Time and then go to Hey you do the studio versions of these. Nicely young man. PF will take you on a journey into the sea of your mind, their music is timeless and mesmerizing

To see this live was something to behold. I saw it 3 nights in a row and had chills all 3 nights watching this. His solo on this is beyond outstanding it truly is out of this world. The notes seem to be playing to the stage effects then calling to the disco ball to open up but you can't not be affected by just the power of his playing.
Teach me, teach me; something we’ve all said at one time. And despite the fact some of us learned to play the notes, but there is no matching the uniqueness of David Gilmour’s performance here. I was fortunate to see them live a couple years before this and they did this same epic performance - the video could have been taken at the show I attended - and I still can reach back into my memory and “feel” that concert to this day.

In 1954 Leo Fender gave the world the Stratocaster.

If I can recommend an album from PF to you I would recommend watching the pulse dvd. You will essentially get the best concert you will ever see….and hear!!! Give it at shot and watch the thing. It’s long so I’m not sure it would work for a quick 10 minute RUclips video but I guarantee you complete and utter amazement!! Enjoy and much love for not interrupting the music. Great to see the youngster getting into the music of yester year, when music live sounded as good or better than the album versions :) ..plenty to go at, i also recommend checking out DireStraits - 'Sultans of Swing' and 'Telegraph Road' both live (Alchemy versions) imo as epic as this performance ...look out for the Drummer (Terry Williams) as well as the lead guitarist and singer Mark Knopfler.
If you do Direstraits 'Brothers in Arms' do the official video (not live version) the video is a work of art in itself.
Knopfler and Gilmour are my two favourite Guitarists. keep up the musical journey you won't be dissapointed.
I used to watch Dire Straits in a tiny pub called The Bricklayers Arms in Greenwich. Those were the days.
This was the last song of their concert. You can also catch the encore, which is the song "Run." But if you want to watch the entire concert, you can catch it on RUclips. I just spent a week in the hospital and, lucky for me, my roommate also liked Floyd, so we watched it together.
Regarding how to approach Pink Floyd on disc, start with the "Dark Side of the Moon" album.

It's really difficult to name other similar bands - they were pretty unique. If it's any consolation, they have a big back catalogue to enjoy. David Gilmore is generally regarded as one of the very best electric guitarists in the World, so don't beat yourself up learning to play, it's a long process - though you can have fun with just a few chords and arpeggios. Best wishes.
You can not learn that, it has to come from the soul. The concert was held at Earls Court in London and held 19`000 people. It was demolished in 2015.

I was raised a Catholic but in 1972 when Dark Side of the Moon was released I converted to Pink Floydism...I have never been closer to God
The bloke you watched playing guitar could not afford to buy one as a teenager so he and his dad built his first guitar in the garden shed, he continued to play that guitar for years and may well still play it.
Love to watch first timers listen to Floyd. He would be a good guitar player to emulate dude
