Four hundred years from now, they will speak of Pink Floyd the way people today speak of Bach and Beethoven.
There's a SciFi series named Space Above And Beyond. In the pilot there's a scene where they're talking about a song, one of the characters says he remembers hearing about a band from back in High School in a class on Classical Music. The band was named Floyd Pink he thought.
@@goosefarm3602 damn the 80s lucky that’s still pretty prime for them performance wise
It wont take 400 years. Floyd is already there for a lot of us.
Bach and beethoven would have been impressed with pink floyd
and that is a fact!
Most guitarists plug their guitars into an amp. David Gilmour plugs his into his soul.
No, he plugs into our collective souls :)
Amen!
I've always said he knows how to make the guitar sing.
Braaaa you forgot Adam Jones, Angus Young, and Yngwie Malmsteen
What an incredible comment!
My guitar teacher called this “Jedi level melodic wailing”.
A wise Jedi master you have padwan
I had a guitar teacher once tell me this solo alters the fabric of space.
:-)
@@glenchapman3899 I feel outside of time and space every time I hear this
"David Gilmour can do more with one note than most guitar players can do with the whole fretboard." -- Dave Mustaine (Metallica; Megadeth)
David Gilmour’s voice is always over shadowed by his guitar work. But the man’s voice tones are hypnotic and such a perfect compliment to his playing.
he is honestly insane
I don't know if you know this, but most of Pink Floyd's hits are duets between Roger and David.
You're so right about Gilmore's voice
"The child is grown, the dream is gone"
That lyric is so phenomenally deep & relatable to everyone. That sadness of having lost your childlike innocence & high hopes and dreams for the future. Just a reminder how fast life passes by.
Pink Floyd is otherworldly !!!
Yes. This. You said how I was feeling perfectly!
@@EnvyBlu Thanks. This song just brings out such emotion... no matter how many times I have heard it in my life.
Sucks to hear this and know it’s true
@@jeffcasey9911 I completely agree. I think that's why this song dredges up so much painful emotion. And I feel it every single time I hear it.
So Wordsworth said " Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower. We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind." and Roger Waters said it more simply: "The child is grown, the dream is gone""
I get chills every time I hear this song, in particular this version of it. Gilmour's voice is heavenly.
The feeling I get from this performance is much like taking Acid. Have been addicted to this specific performance for 20 years now.
Shine on you crazy diamond - for my brother R.I.P Dec 18th 2012 at the age of 35. To all the Floyd we listened to together ❤
S hine on
Y ou crazy

They say that Dave Gilmour doesn't play many notes but he plays the right ones.
And in the right order...😇
Guitars want David Gilmour for Christmas
He not only plays the right notes, but he makes the spaces between those notes as meaningful as the notes themselves. Not many musicians ever master that art.
Less is sometimes so much more.
Gilmour is simply legendary! One of my favorites has to be dog's.. I'd like to see the reaction to that song 😊😊
Gilmour plays with impeccable timing in his spacing .He is never frantic. Even on a song like Have a Cigar where it gets very up tempo he is meticulous in his changes. He is a virtuoso. Different than many but better than most. He is absolutely in the top 10 of rock guitarists who made it. There are a lot of fantastic guitarists who never made the big time. C'est La Vie.
It does my old heart good to see young people enjoying the music of my generation. Because one doesn't merely listen to Pink Floyd. One EXPERIENCES Pink Floyd. Welcome aboard.
Such heartfelt joy to see it.
omg woaw I have gone on their planet again I have to go outside to breathe to regain my composure at 16 it was a Revelation that should be in the Bible.
This performance is the Mona Lisa of concerts.
This is considered the greatest version of "Comfortably numb" ever witnessed, everything about this screams perfection.
personally i think the version at pompeii is better
@@frankisfrank69 here's a show done there in 2016 ruclips.net/video/LTseTg48568/видео.html
I completely agree with your assessment! The layering of the instruments is SO good, and the vocals blend so well with it all. It IS perfection.
I much prefer live at Pompeii version.
Fender has built the Stratocaster and God created David Gilmour, to play it
GILMOUR*
My guy said this is what dying is like. She said is this what heaven is like. GOD said. Yep
That is one of the best comments about David I've ever heard "God created David Gilmore to play it" TRUTH!!!
Uwe: I must correct you. "Fender created a guitar and God created David Gilmour to teach Fender's guitar SING!"
GOAT
Probably the best solo in the world full of passion and emotion
Pink Floyd is Legend..Gilmour is the most expressive guitarist ever...imo
..much love
I usually prefer the studio version of a song over a live performance, but Gilmour takes the guitar solo to a whole other level in this concert.
Beth Hart is another artist like that. She probably sells more $50 tickets than $15 albums. Artists like that, especially in the age of "free music," are very rare.
@@orlock20 well of course, Beth Hart as the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be
@@RobwLPOC What about Clare Tory? 🙃
@@fluxrider7027 I was making a horrible joke because of the wrestler Bret Hart who is the best there is the best or was the best there ever will be
@@RobwLPOC I still remember when a bunch of us nine or ten year olds were playing in my front yard, and some semi-hoods pulled up abruptly in their car. They called out the window: "What it is, what it was, and what it shall be!" Then they drove off.
In my opinion this is one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded thanks for the rection
Seen these guys back in '88 and as a roadie that's seen countless amounts of concerts, I can honestly say it's still the greatest live show I've ever seen.
Momentary lapse tour - Montreal Olympic Stadium. My first concert ever, front row. David threw his guitar pic my way. My friend caught it with his hat. Proceeded to trade it for a joint. I was pissed at him for a while. 😎
@@dahozabich Great story bro lol. Pissed until you hit that joint I bet!
@@duanem.5738 still a little mad about it. That pick is worth a lot more than that join. But I did enjoy it none the less!
@@dahozabich Haha, awesome dude!
David IS in the conversation for "Greatest " of all time.. and this, this right here is considered one of the "Greatest" guitar solo's of all time by most professionals.. Just saying, what you felt is recognized by almost everyone! I enjoyed your reactions! Thank you!
David plays with such emotion, I think more than any other guitarist! IMHO.
David Gilmour does not simply play the guitar. He tells a story with it.
I was there at the Superdome in New Orleans in May 1994 for this concert. This was my 27th birthday present I gave to myself, and that was the BEST present I ever gave to myself. That concert was off the chains. And the view I had was straight dead center of the stage in the first level off the floor. I got to see the full view of their show. And the sound in that building was amazing considering the acoustics of the Dome back then. Their sound was crystal clear. No bouncing echoes in that building whatsoever. Considering I've seen performers like Rush, Elvis Presley, Van Halen, Motley Crue, KISS, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant (both together AND solo), Depeche Mode, U2, Aerosmith, etc., this concert right was THE CONCERT EXPERIENCE OF ALL TIME!!!
I was at the San Diego show in April of '94. Like you it was the best show I have ever seen and I too have seen some biggies like Iron Maiden, KISS, OZZY, Judas Priest and the list goes on, but that Floyd show was 3 hours of perfection.
Respect
I saw this show in Rotterdam '94, when I was 15. I had already "acquired" the albums from my dad, but this was a life-altering experience... I've seen Tool couple of times, but this rings #1 still. Thanks dad!!
Damn dude. I'm envious but in a fucking good way.
I was at the dome for that show!!!! Second level little off center. Truly once in a lifetime.
There's not a metalhead out there that doesn't rate Dave Gilmours playing trust me on that. He's not flashy, fast or showboaty but he just wrings emotion out of his solo's. Less is sometimes more and it certainly is when Gilmour plays.
The 2nd solo on this song is my all time favorite...ever
I'd love to see to Hammet and Gilmour play together
this is true hes good but i can name 3 darlin stevie ray vaughan eddie vanhalan and james hetfield oh and kurt hemet ...peace oh i love floyd
@@lesaburnette6944 Add Jimmy Page to that list.
@@markwilkie3677 ok. LoL
DG is absolutely one of the greatest rock guitarists for his ability to transmit emotion and feel into guitar sound. Goosebumps every time on the second solo!
One of the best live performances ever, no matter what band you like.😀 Is better than the studio version.
Gilmore's playing is so melodic and lyrical. Bends all the right notes, great vibrato, great use of dynamics
Pink Floyd is not merely a band, they’re an emotional journey. I’ve never heard someone so able to communicate feelings through six strings and an amp like David Gilmour can. The man’s simply a musical story teller, travel agent and genius.
Since you wish you were there, you’ve got to check out their song “Wish You Were Here!”
"The child has grown, the dream is gone" a line thats always stuck with me, such an epic song just like all of pink floyds catalog, loving the channel guys!
I haven't had the honor of going to a Pink Floyd concert but I've been told that in the last few minutes of your life, they feel ( those who went) that wherever and whenever fate tips its cap at you, your mind will take you to this place.
And you will smile.
The lyrics tell you a story, but the guitar solo has you thinking of your own story.
You are absolutely right about how Gilmour's solos brings out the epitomy of talking to the audience and keeping their ears entertained It's not easy to do.
Regarded by most as the greatest solo ever. The entire Pulse concert is a masterpiece...get the DVD.
Pink Floyd were not a show they were an experience. Pulse the concert, Earls Court London the venue.
PF starts you on the journey...after that it's all personal. We are all unique yet music unties us into one.
If you want to see what “alien guitar” sounds like, watch “keep talking” from this same PULSE concert. David’s guitar takes you to another dimension.
Dave Gilmour...... one of the best guitarists of all time
Pink Floyd was amongst the early innovators of the use of lazer light shows and always have an incredible stage setup.
David Gilmour is among the best guitarists to ever live. He proves that you don't have to play a million notes per second.
@Shane Molloy And yet the greatest greatest innovators on guitar have come from America. Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, etc.
@Shane Molloy that's true. England does produce a hell of a lot a great musicians and bands.
@Shane Molloy you’re so right! Man, I would’ve LOVED to live in the UK and London during the 60’s and 70’s. They have produced some of the greatest musicians of all time.
@@EnvyBlu they still live on today...
Bohemian Rhapsody at Green Day is proof of that!
@@neillenet291 Hendrix got his chance in the UK mind you.
A Pink Floyd concert isn't a show, it's an outer body experience. The light show between the lasers and the light colors and fog is insane, fantastic.
Saw them in 1994, Pontiac Silverdome. Me my wife, bro'n law and my bestest friend. The wife was 7 months pregnant with our son. ( who is a huge Floyd fan) She had a pillow to hold over her tummy and when the bass was really cranking the baby would move around.
I have seen hundreds of concerts and this was numero uno!!!
I saw this show in Philadelphia, Veterans Stadium in 1994. Our seats were literally right against the Phillies dugout. We were standing at the back of the dugout and leaning on the roof the whole time. Great show!
Love the reaction guys! Same concert, SORROW, HIGH HOPES, COMING BACK TO LIFE, LEARNING TO FLY. All EPIC. Gilmour makes me FEEL like no other.
SORROW performance is my favorite live performance. Just wow.
I've listened to that song many times and every time I get emotional, That is a soul song. If that doesn't touch your soul you don't have one
This is proof that music speaks to our souls!
My husband had surgery February and asked to llisten to this song when he was put under.
I hope pulled through for the encore!!!!
27 years ago this week I got to see this show. Truly the best I ever experienced.
"High Hopes" at the same concert is just as good.
Ooohh. This is a pleasant surprise! Nice Pappa Magnolia.
Love this song have you done shine you crazy diamond it’s a masterpiece 🔥🔥🔥🔥
On Roger Waters (one of the founding members of Pink Floyd and the creative force behind the band) last concert suddenly the pyramid from Dark Side of the Moon suddenly appears above our heads, it was a peak experience! No other band like Pink Floyd, this in 2019
the expression on that guy's face is PRICELESS xD
exactly how I felt the first time I heard it
I saw that concert live. Hands down best ever!!! Goose bumps every time I see this video. David Gilmore is incredible
I was there for that concert. The mirror ball was actually shrouded so from where I was sitting it wasn’t evident what it was. When it lowered from the shroud and that mirror ball effect lit the auditorium it blew me away. I’ve seen this footage many times and it still gives me a buzz of emotion. Also, I don’t know if you realise how much that circular projection screen moves during the concert, sometimes being vertical and sometimes horizontal. DG is not just an incredible guitarist, but sings and composes too. He also plays a mean slide guitar.
I saw the concert at Earles Court. I always loved the finale at Floyd concerts because there was always a white light feature. I knew there would be a whopper at this one and was expecting something from behind the stage. However there was a huge hidden black-curtained thing suspended at the height of the arena, but it was behind us where we were sitting. When the finale got going everyone stood up and we were facing backwards to see the alien glitterball. I remember when it opened, the light was incredibly bright and the heat from it was astonishing. The film doesn’t bring over how big the ball was or how powerful the spectacle.
I wasn't at the show filmed for this video, but I WAS there in 1994, when this tour came to Pittsburgh. It was absolutely amazing, and I'm so happy that fine people like yourselves continue to enjoy Pink Floyd.
You have to watch this show, the whole show, multiple times through, so you get all of it; the music, the lights, the set, the videos, the crowd, etc. It's so amazing.
Saw them performing "The Wall" in LA in Feb. 1980. The guitar solo was performed from atop a 40' high wall that had been build across the stage. Best concert I ever attended, hands down!
Everything from this concert is amazing, but this one and Sorrow in particular just kill me every time.
It makes me so happy to see people discovering Pink Floyd. I've never been able to find the words for how Pink Floyd makes me feel, but when I see it in someone else I know. They have so many amazing songs, some are soft and slow, some are bluesy, some are hard rocking. You'll get lots of input I'm sure about what songs to listen to next, but just know that they're all hugely worth it.
✌❤🖖
not sure why you think David Gilmour isnt in the conversation for greatest guitarist. he is. easily the best for making his guitar almost sing. he is heralded, envied by many guitarists of famous bands for being unique. plus, add his voice...its a WOW.
i'd rather have people calling him the goat instead of Hendrix
Probably because he is not a shredder or overly flashy, but ask any guitarist and they will mention Gilmour and talk about his tone, his phrasing, his sense of timing and melody, and his bends which all make him a pioneer and a legendary player.
There is a lot of guitar players that can make the guitar sing. A lot of them are also a great composers. Gilmour is fantastic and absolutely unique. I just love that guy. But when we talk about the greatest then we are considering their skills with the instrument. Hendrix could probably play all of the Gilmour solos with no problem. Gilmour is just not on the skill level to play most of the Hendrix solos. If we look at the skill level on the instrument Hendrix and Srv are sitting on the top. And there is a big gap behind them and the others.
Hell no he isn't. Pink Floyd may be a Legendary band, but by no means is David Gilmour one of the Greatest Guitarist of All Time.
@@TWHISPERER this particular live solo is generally considered by GUITARISTS as the greatest live solo ever recorded
No one makes a guitar weep quite like DG ❤
T's reaction during the second solo was exactly how I was at this concert in 94 closing my eyes to enjoy the guitar while occasionally opening my eyes to see the show
Impossible to tire of this live performance, unreal
Dont fret. All 3 surviving members tour on their own. I saw both David Gilmour and Roger Waters a few yrs back. David is mesmerizing and worth every penny. Go if you can!
Yeahh i totally agree with you bro... david is the bet guitarist of all times and thats all nothing more nothing less
Since Gilmour auctioned all his studio and stage guitars for charity, you won’t be seeing him solo anymore I’m afraid.
@@HogarthsAstrophotography and you know this because?????? Last I heard he had leftovers from rattle that lock that he would be releasing and touring again after that. So are you just guessing this? Or is there some factual basis for this.
@@dwoehrma no i was making a guess from the sale of 99% of his guitars alot he uses on tour that there would be no more. Just my speculation really. Hope I’m wrong
I was there, seen pink Floyd live 7 times best band in the world x.
I love watching you experience the music of my generation. You 2 got it! I could see it in your reaction you were transported!
This song still gives goosebumps. I'm so glad you guys liked it.
this guitar solo was rated as one of the best live solo's of all time!
Welcome to the Pink Floyd family - enjoy your journey exploring the best band ever!
I have been to nearly 100 concerts. And none of them can hold a candle to the amazing sound and sight spectacle that was the Pulse Tour. Washington D.C., RFK, July 9, 1994
I’ve seen every Floyd concert more than once, if they played multiple nights. Everyone of them top my list of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. Nothing comes close. I saw Pulse in the old Joe Robbie stadium in south Florida and took a buddy with me who’d never seen them before. His mind was completely blown by their performance.
Every time I see and hear this solo-outro, it gets me short of breath, lump in my throat and tears in my eyes......simply magnificent and it wouldn't it have been wonderful to be there to witness, see and hear this spectacle of live performance unlikey to be surpassed in this kind of genre
I was so fortunate to go to the Pulse concert in Miami. Changed my head for always, two hours with my mouth open. Thank you for sharing...
Love watching you grow in to the grateful Floyd fan!
I was lucky enough to see their Division Bell tour live at Mile High Stadium.
Comfortably Numb was definitely one of the high points of that event...when the mirror ball is lit is an amazing moment. Even more amazing, the intensity of the light within the ball! Literally as bright as the sun!
It loses a little of the impact on the small screen and indoors... coupled with the blistering guitar solo... priceless!
This is such an amazing song all by itself. Seeing this in concert, the incredible set they made and the experience Pink Floyd gives you.. Then with this extended guitar solo, this is one of the greatest performances ever.
Now, please check into my patreon requests.. I still have so many in there.. See you again soon.
Nobody ever says it, but what a light show, and what great backing vocals by the three ladies.
Every time I react to Pink Floyd I'm amazed. I said my last reaction they're by far the best live concert band. Seeing this only backs what im saying. Great video. Good reaction! You guys are positive people keep it up
Grabs your soul and brings emotions that no other song can do! Beautiful. Thank you.
The comfortably numb solo of the pulse tour is arguably the best guitar solo ever performed. David sings with his voice, but he also and foremost sings through his guitar. He is technically as good as many others, but he knows how to use the technique in order to create atmosphere.
I was sooo incredibly fortunate to see them on this tour in Philly. There's an awesome DVD of the entire concert. You guys should react to the whole show!!!
I went to one of these concerts in Wembley arena. It was getting to the end of the concert and no comfortably numb. Then came the encore and this happened! Best concert I have been to without doubt. I think it was over 2.5 hours long. Just a complete journey. Started with a tribute to Sid Barret with the best version of shine on you crazy diamond!
I have probably been to over 60 concerts in my life but the most memorable and greatest experience I have had was seeing them in 1975 in a soccer stadium in Hamilton Canada. the atmosphere and the total experience I hard to describe but I am very fortunate to have seen this amazing band
You’ve found heaven!
You asked for suggestions, so I say High Hopes, Sorrow, Shine On You Crazy Diamond and One of These Days from the same Pulse concert.
Check out anything from Pulse. The audio and visual experience is over the top throughout the entire concert.
DG puts more emotion into a single note than so many other guitarists take whole albums to do no matter how many notes they can play at the speed of light !!
I was lucky enough to see this tour on ‘94. Single handedly the best concert experience I’ve ever had.
While you may not be able to see them live you can check out Australian Pink Floyd tour dates. They do an amazing imitation of Pink Floyd. And were granted the right by Pink Floyd to use their name because they thought so much of their talent to replicate their music.
Watching you 2 enjoy one of my favorite songs ever...just added even more to my enjoyment. David's solo here is always at or near the top of every "top guitar solos ever" list.
No one can say Pink Floyd doesn't pull out all the stops when they put on an arena concert.
Your smiles are infectious - and in all the right places. So good to see people just enjoying incredible musicality.
Just found your channel. As a huge 69 yr old Steely Dan fan, I have to own up to seeing Floyd many many many times in the 1970s. I’m an old white guy who just you lot loving my eras music.
You all did a great reaction to this. I saw Pink Floyd on this Pulse tour at the Alamodome in San Antonio with 47,000 fans. I had 18th row seats on floor and it was phenomenal. They played the entire album Dark Side of the Moon from start to finish in the first set, and the second set included songs from The Division Bell and other popular songs. If you want to see the ultimate light show from this concert check out "Run Like Hell", which was the encore and final song of the show!
That's the thing about Gilmore 's guitar playing. It sounds like it's singing to you in their songs. Not many guitarists can do that.
Yall need to watch the WHOLE THING from start to finish! Life changing. Pink Floyd will go down in history as one of the most creative and talented bands ever!
What a performance. Thanks for showing it.
Guitar Players, not in any order of greatness, but each great in their own way for different reasons: Andy Latimer, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Ray Vaughan, Mark Knopfler, Dave Gilmour. All astonishingly accomplished musicians. Aren't we blessed!
I think you mean Stevie Ray Vaughan.
When asked "what is it like to be the best guitarist in the world" Jimi Hendrix said "ask Rory Gallagher".
They are all great and we are /were blessed to have them and their work. Stay safe bud.
I am soooo glad you guys enjoyed this!!!! 🤗 Thanks for reacting to this. You are great!!! Try Us and Them and Wish You Were Here by Floyd!!
I was there for the second night they played in Oakland on this tour. It was 1000x better in person. The energy in the Colosseum that night was "off the hook". A night to never be forgotten.
This was insane. The sights and sounds were obvious in the video. What you don't get from the video is that it was loud enough to shake you to the core, and the strange smoke... It was such an immersive event. (I did Division Bell in 94, virtually identical.) And yes, completely unforgettable!
Sorrow and Coming Back To Life from this concert is more epicness.
6 Gilmore solos
y'all described the power of the solo perfectly. you are right. the second solo is cut off on the album. you joked about it sounding like you were in heaven. Many people have said that in heaven the second solo from this performance never ends. Love y'all. Subscribed.
I got to see them in the 70s on my birthday. They played the entire Dark side album. It was one hell of a birthday present.
I saw them May 6, 1994, 4 days before my 24th birthday! It was amazing! As I age it does my soul well to know that their music will live on. I am a devoted fan of the Floyd and I appreciate you guys going out and finding these little nuggets of gold!
