    My guy's done answered it! Trading Fire Red/Leaf Green Pokemon! 😭❤ Thanks a lot for your dedication to finding out the answers. Now me and my friend really can buy the Anbernics! ❤
    Edit: So I saw that burning the image wipes the MSD card. If for example I'd like to add PS1 games, would I have to do the same again? D:

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  7 месяцев назад +2

      Once you install muOS, you don't have to reburn the image again unless you want to update the OS or install a different OS so you're all good. Once installed, you can just copy over games anytime.
      This is why most people recommend installing the OS to one microSD card in the TF1 slot, and then having roms on a second microSD card in the TF2 slot so you can update your OS card without having to copy games over every time.
      Up to you how you want to roll. Some people are just fine with using one microSD card.
      Also another side note, if the microSD card that comes with the handheld is the default one from Anbernic, it may fail eventually so just keep that in mind if the device stops working/charging one day. Means you might need to get a new microSD card or reflash the OS.
      Hope that helps!

      I looked it up and it says that error typically happens when you are trying to connect to someone outside your network.
      Either the IP address could have a typo or if you are connecting to someone outside your home network you'll probably have to forward a port on your router.
      Also you could double check to make sure that the retroarch version, core version, and rom version are all the same. These could have an impact on netplay working.

    its there a way to Link different versions of ROM? Like FireRed & Emerald.. or two different romhacks from emerald?

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  21 час назад

      Emerald and FireRed will work since they both support the GBA wireless adapter. Any game that supported the GBA wireless adapter will work so this also includes LeafGreen too.
      As for romhacks, I don't know since I haven't tried it myself but if they were based off of one of those 3 GBA games, then it may work but most likely they won't.

    • @duckyobrien

      The games actually needed to support the GBA wireless adapter. Officially that is FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald. This only works on the latest version of gpSP for RetroArch unless it was added to other emulators. You can use this video as a walkthrough because it pretty much applies to any device running RetroArch granted it's a recent version.

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  6 месяцев назад

      Off the top of my head, if one of the devices you are using is a Miyoo Mini Plus, the device's WiFi connection is notorious for being unreliable. I'd move the device like right next to the router.
      Other than that, not really sure but some things you can try out is making a hotspot with a phone and connecting both devices to that. If you have access to your router, changing the frequency to 2.4 GHz temporarily might help.
      I'll look up possible causes and solutions and respond back. Might take me some time.

      I can't think of any ideas right now, would it be alright if I can have more information on the problem if you still need more help?
      Which two devices are you using? Which OS are they running? Which version of RetroArch is running on each device? Is this on the same Wifi network? What is creating the WiFi network?
      As a sidenote I did see one commenter say that they could not connect to an iOS device so there might be something on iphones that make it a bit hard to connect.
      Anyways the only info I could find suggest things like port forwarding and using different modes but that won't be necessary if both devices are on the same network. This is as far as I got so far.

      @@pasi8279 Thanks for answering!
      Edit: I answered thinking it was another comment thread lol.
      Anyways I think you guys have the ideal setup. This might be a problem with the router and not the handhelds.
      Just be to be sure, can you check the ip address of each handheld to make sure it is connecting properly to WiFi? You can check from RetroArch -> Information -> Network information. The Information menu is at the root of the RetroArch Menu so you have to back out a few times if started from a game. This is to make sure there's no sort of conflict with the router after connecting and starting RetroArch.
      Other than bringing the handhelds closer to the router, can't really think of what could cause this.
      Edit 2: I will have to do more research.

    Hey there! This is a great tutorial, but I also found an alternative method for people who don't want to spend money on another sd card/adapters/don't have access on pc etc.
    I found this on another video that was in spanish.
    If you use the default software the device comes with, when you select the pokemon game you want to play from the retroarch menu, before entering game, press Y to change core and select gpsp_libretro. That will reset the progress of your game unfortunately, and you will need to enable rtc and wireless adapter from core settings when you are in game. Also you will not get that fancy Gameboy advance animation like on the real console when you start the game, but you will still get the nice frame.
    Hope this also helps!

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey there, thanks for the comment but wireless trading for GBA games via the GBA wireless adapter will only work on RetroArch 1.17 or later and the corresponding gpSP core. People with earlier versions will not be able to trade if they follow the steps you mentioned.
      If you buy the handheld now most likely you'll have RetroArch 1.18 and the latest gpSP core so those people should be OK if they follow the steps you mentioned. They also need to set GBA link connectivity to GBA wireless adapter.
      Edit: I also have a guide to update stock OS (only for firmware versions dated near Dec 2023 I believe) to the latest stock mod for people who have an older version but don't have access to a PC but do have access to a phone with a microSD card slot.

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  7 месяцев назад

      Trying to think of possible reasons, for starters the PC version of RetroArch has a quirk. If I'm remembering correctly you need to connect via Netplay BEFORE loading a core or else it won't work for the PC.
      You can try that and let me know if that works out if you haven't done this already.
      If it wasn't that, then my guess is that one of the devices isn't running RetroArch 1.18 and a compatible version of gpSP.
      Or for some reason the Link Cable Connectivity setting is being reverted from GBA Wireless Adapter by core overrides.
      Maybe a firewall setting is stopping something but if you're on default Windows 10 settings it should be fine.
      Those are my ideas so far, can't think of anything else as of now.

      RetroGameCorps has a guide on installing ArkOS that you can follow along: ruclips.net/video/48nDciXdn_g/видео.html
      I think you need to flash the image with rufus meaning you'll lose all the data on your OS card so keep that in mind. You'll need to backup whatever is important to you if you are using a one microSD card setup and may require renaming folders if you are using a two microSD card setup.

      You can check which version of RetroArch you have by starting a game from RA Game and pressing the menu button. On the lower left hand corner you will see the RetroArch version followed by the core and core version i.e. 1.18.0 - mGBA (0.11-dev).
      If you bought the handhelds recently, you might already have a recent version of RetroArch. In this case, you're good.
      If you have an earlier version of RetroArch, you need to update.

    Would this work on the rg353v?

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  6 месяцев назад

      Depends on which OS you are using. As far as I can tell, only Rocknix seems to have the latest version of RetroArch. I don't have a rg353v myself so I can't confirm this.
      You need RetroArch 1.18 or later and the corresponding gpSP core. If you can start a game and go into the RetroArch menu and go to "Information" the version number should show up in the lower left hand corner.
      If it's 1.18 or higher you should be good to go! If not, you'll need to get a custom OS with a more recent build of RetroArch.
      Edit: Since the V has android, you could also try downloading the latest RetroArch apk but I'm not sure if this could mess anything up or not so take that as you will.
      I saw something about touch screen compatibility in the GammaOS notes and recommended using 1.15 if encountering issues.

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  7 месяцев назад

      Yes, it should work! I was using the standalone version of RetroArch. I think the steam version should be updated enough to do this as well but I haven't tested it out yet.
      I even saw one guy use an actual 3DS!
      Edit: Just a couple of notes if you're running into trouble connecting.
      Sometimes it may take a couple of tries disconnecting/reconnecting to your network or hotspot before netplay connects. The connection may be a bit finnicky sometimes on these handhelds. Older devices may not connect to WPA3, 5 ghz/whatever fancy new tech they have in routers nowadays so that's something to keep in mind. The recent Anbernic handhelds should be fine though.
      Also my Miyoo won't connect unless it's right next to my router, and I do mean right next to it.

      Ok small update, I'm looking for a reliable way to flash muOS to the microSD card using a phone. So far I had to use a microSD to USB C adapter since my phone supports OTG. I haven't found a reliable app yet and the ones I've tried were absolutely terrible. I may have to run linux on my phone so this will take a bit more time to figure out.

      @ssbones60 Yo good news! I found a way to update.
      I found a guide by reddit user wesley10pro.
      Here is the guide: www.reddit.com/r/RG35XX/comments/1d7uk07/this_is_how_i_update_my_ambernic_without_a_pc/
      ====
      !!**Warning**!!
      ====
      I'm going to assume you're using the stock microSD card. If you are using the card that came with the handheld, just be aware that the stock card does tend to get corrupted very easily. It may get corrupted during this update process and if that happens, your device will be unusable unless you have another microSD card ready with some sort of operating system.
      If you don't want to take the risk, then I wouldn't recommend doing this.
      Also make sure have some free space on your microSD card. Delete some large game files like Dreamcast or PSP. You want enough space to copy the upgrade app which is around 1.38 GB and also some extra free space for it to move around files. Also make sure you have enough charge on the battery before proceeding.
      ====
      Checking Firmware Version
      ====
      Before you start, you need a microSD card running stock OS or stockmod. The stock OS version must be at least 20231212. More recent is OK.
      To check this, go to Settings -> Firmware version on your handheld.
      ====
      Downloading Stockmod
      ====
      Download the stockmod OS upgrade file for your handheld from this link: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uwCkGX3H-K09pj0VbB6hkS8I0_qhzrGY?usp=sharing
      When I did it, the google drive had reached its limit and the download won't start. If this happens to you, go up one folder and download the entire folder. Google will zip it and then the download will start. This may take a few minutes to zip before downloading.
      Unzip the files until you get the "RG35xxH_Upgrade_20240428-v2.4" folder (if you are using the RG35XXH). Copy the "Roms" folder inside that folder to the root of your microSD card. Either insert the microSD card into your phone or use an OTG adapter if you have one.
      Safely remove the microSD card and insert it back into your handheld. Go to RA Game -> APPS and then find the RG35XXH update file.
      Start this App. It will take a few minutes before starting. After it starts, the update will also take a few minutes. Don't turn the handheld off during this phase. It will take a while.
      After it updates, you should have stockmod OS which has RetroArch 1.18 and the recent gpSP core. You can customize each setting for stockmod or go with the default and change it later.
      ====
      Handheld Setup
      ====
      The only thing you have to do is connect to WiFi and download the Pokemon games to your device using your phone again. When you go to start it, go use RA and not Game Room. Before starting the game, press Y to change the core to gpSP. mGBA can't trade Pokemon yet. If you can't exit out of the core selection, hold the power button to turn it off and restart the device. This bug happened to me.
      Make sure to change the core options to set link cable connectivity to GBA Wireless Adapter and then use netplay to connect the two devices like in my video.
      I verified that stockmod works myself. I was able to trade Pokemon on my RG35XXH using stockmod to my Miyoo Mini Plus running Koriki.
      Anyways I hope this helps. If you need more help let me know. I will also make a video and written guide on this but it'll take a couple of days.

    This uses the same process with David GF's ruclips.net/video/zToOV6rFLlI/видео.html right? So, this wouldn't be limited to trading, but it includes pokemon battling too and other GBA Wireless Link features on other games?

      Yeap, those features should work. I managed to test out battling iirc but I have not tested out other games that are compatible with the GBA wireless adapter.
      That said, I did see some people comment that it wouldn't work. We couldn't isolate the problem but it's most likely due to a networking issue or a poor wifi antenna. Also had some people have trouble getting it working on iOS devices.

    Ok so if I’m understanding this correctly, this is a completely new OS? Or the original OS with modifications. I have the RG35XX+ so I’m not familiar with what your system should look and feel like prior to the install

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  6 месяцев назад

      Your first thought is correct, this is an entirely new OS. It managed to unlock 64bit support but lacks proper bluetooth support. I recommended using muOS because the original OS did not have RetroArch 1.18 easily available when I wrote the script.
      The original OS for the RG35XX Plus now has 64bit support, portmaster, and RetroArch 1.18 too. You can upgrade to the latest version of the original OS if you want to trade Pokemon.
      If you want the official firmware download page let me know.
      There is also a modified version of the stock OS with more features that can also trade Pokemon if that was something you were looking for.
      The naming convention is super confusing but the RG35XX 2024 version is labeled as RG35XX+ on the back and the RG35XX Plus is labeled as the RG35XX Plus. If you have the RG35XX 2024 version it has no WiFi, just a heads up.
      Hope this helps, let me know if you need more help. I can link anything you want.

    • @Mmmmmk247
      @Mmmmmk247 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@duckyobrien ok I see, so the latest version of retroarch is what is needed. I have the stock modded system on mine currently, and I’ll prob reinstall back to stock and get the latest install of retroarch then. Also, when you setup like this, is it a one way trade or back and forth?

    • @duckyobrien
      @duckyobrien  6 месяцев назад

      @Mmmmmk247 Wait, before you do anything, modded stock should let you trade also! You may not need to reinstall stock.
      You can start a game and bring up the RetroArch menu. In the lower left hand corner it should say the version number. If you have 1.18 or higher, you are good to go.
      Also for the trade, I believe it's goes back and forth, at least if you use the third room on the second floor of the Pokecenter. I don't trade a lot in Pokemon so I'm not sure if it has a one way trade or not.
      Edit: Also to be able to trade, you do need to change one RetroArch setting.
      Go to "Core Options" -> "Link Cable Connectivity" and set it to "GBA Wireless Adapter".
      After that, back out to the root of the RetroArch menu and start netplay. One person needs to host, the other connect.
      If you don't know the IP, you can go to "Information" -> "Network Information" in the RetroArch menu.
      "Interface (wlan0)" should have your IP address.
      The wireless trade only works for games supporting the GBA wireless adapter so FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald should be good to go.
