I started playing pyro because the idea of playing a class (almost) everyone hates for being "unskilled" and being a general nuisance called out to me. While I'm nowhere near good or even average, but setting the enemy player on fire and making spies suffer make me love it.
Yeah I just thought it be a fun class to main when I started playing a few days ago, especially for a trackball mouse user lol I love providing assist for some of the stronger classes/players who know what they're doing, not going for kills if I know I can't get one but at the very least weakening the enemy for other teammates to finish the job. My journey with pyro started out with the dragon's fury, as back then I generally disliked the class because I thought it didn't require aim. I just hit 100 hours this week, and to be honest, your description of where I should be now is surprisingly accurate. Can't wait to see how far Pyro takes me.
I became a pyro main when I first downloaded TF2 and clicked random. For my first 5 kills I redirected 2 rockets into a group of 5 people. Instantly fell in love with the mumbling fire retardant man and have been trying to recreate that high ever since to no avail.
I picked up pyro because he was the only one I could reasonably do well with on my potato pc. 30 hours of gameplay later I've lowered all my graphics settings and installed an fps config, and things are acceptable for me to play other classes. Depsite this I pretty much cycle between Solider, Engineer and Pyro. I currently use the Dragon's Fury, Scorch Shot, and the Axetinguisher reskin (like a mailbox, I can't remember the name). I haven't gotten trash talked too much for using the scorch shot, but I feel bad using it sometimes.
pretty cool how pyro succeeds at his original purpose. I heard in team fortress (the quake mod) pyro was added for people with high ping so that they were still able to be helpful
I am a proud phlog pyro. I will use the degreaser every now and then, but the fun when you mass clear a tight room full of the enemy team is fun. As for Pyro being W+M1. Heavy is also W+M1, Demo is W+M2+M1 Soldier is also W+M1 Medic is W+M1 with the medigun Spy is well spy Snipers are cowards Scouts are annoying little shits
Engie and future pyro main here when i got burnout from engie i searched up on yt about pyro it got interesting when i came across ur channel well now i play engie and pyro so thanls dude
I remember my phlog stage, I started using the flaregun and degreaser afterwords, but the axetinguisher can go BURN IN HIT REGISTRATION HELL. (I still use phlog lmao)
When I was still a beginner at the game, and was starting to get the hang over pyro, I used to think that since the airblast consumed a somewhat bulky chunk off of your ammo, as opposed to the primary flames attack, it was supposed to mean that it was by itself a special attack that did more damage as opposed to the flames, but in reality it just pushes them back😂(except if you're deflecting rockets and grenades at your enemy, obviously)
I ended up switching to medic as my main while I was in a transitional period between phase 2 and phase 3. Still, pyro is one of my favorite classes thanks to his wide array of support capabilities.
@@theshade0038 I am a Medic main that sometimes switches to Scout and I tell you, if you ever feel like trying another class, go for it! Some games don't need Medics I've found, and sometimes end up benefiting from other classes a lot more
There was this one time when I was playing pyro, I got ubered, surfed some knockback (this was on badwater), landed right next to the payload cart and killed everybody.
im currently in "The decision" stage! I started as a combo pyro, but i sometimes get frustrated at flaregun being quite hard after the airblast changes and get RLY frustrated at reflecting because of the new flames particles not letting me see shit.... On the other hand, the phlog+deto pyro is rly fun to me aswell, but not just to w+m1 (i rly dislike dying, so im always very careful), i been improving my movement so i can put as much damage with m1 as i can/surfing a rocket to escape or "airstrafe+m1¿" without dying. AND THEN try this lovely "Phlog cancel" thing ive recently learned as much as i can (AND NO, I ALMOST NEVER HAVE A POCKETMED FRIEND). Lovely video, thanks alot!
Pyro threads the line between a heavy and a scout. High sustained dammage and great for moping up weakened enemies. The unsuspecting part of the pyro is that he can airblast while shooting flames. It really surprises the enemy when a pyro does that.
Seems so accurate! The only part I think was inaccurate was how they stop W+M1+M2 at stage 7 as I learnt combo pyro(Shotgun secondary, not flare or detonator) on stage 3.
i've been watching tf2 videos for like 9ish years now, but only have 20ish hours on the game, happy to say with only 12-13hours on pyro, I'm happy sitting at around stage 7(but started out as a W+m1 phlog. it got to the point in named my phlog "W+m1")
I gravitated towards 4 classes when I first played. Demo, Engi, Pyro, and Medic. However I always felt like I wasn't doing very good as Pyro. And after buying all the weapons (on marketplace, not the TF2 store luckily) I realized how versatile he was. But sadly stuck to Phlog, I did however LOVE the flare gun. Actually got decently good with it. But never resisted braindead MMMPH. But then I stumbled onto pybro. I grabbed the wrecker and started protecting engis. Spy checking and removing sappers. Then realized how powerless I was against soldier. So I went back to stock and started practicing airblast. Now I'm practicing that along with degreaser combos. While every class has nuances and important skills. Pyro has such a wide variety of playstyles and niches. I wanna prove he isn't just a w + m1 easy kill.
Pyro is relatively slow and is very squishy in health terms, and with long range weapons only meant to annoy enemies at best, and a bad close range weapon, with a subclass here and there, pyro has a decent skill ceiling. Nowhere near sniper or spy, but I would say higher than heavy. Due to pyros many playstyles and heavy’s, SHOOT AND DIE, play style is much less as difficult than to use many weapons in combination.
you assume people play TF2 more than 100h on record. i say as i have over 10k hours across multiple sandbox/building games like Gmod and Space Engineers
play pyro > team yells at me bc we need a medic > switch to medic > get yelled at bc we need a pyro > yell at team that maybe THEY are the incompetent ones > get votekicked > restart the cycle
I think I was on stage 6 when I quit. Now when I came back for 2 weeks I just get sad cuz I can’t airblast for shit anymore. Demomans don’t fear me no more ;-;
my experience with the game was weird because i started out only reading about it, meaning i knew about the game when i started, and then i played tetragon fortress on roblox before finally moving on to tf2, and even after that i still play tetragon fortress and tc2 regularly. because of that my playtime for most classes in tf2 is like 6 hours or something.
I’m thinking of getting into tf2 but I feel like it’s so far in the games life and I don’t know where to start, should I just download the game and q into casual?
I play all classes and don’t main one but I play pyro to have fun not to do the best I can relate to these stages and I went through a couple but I like pyro for my wacky creations of loadouts still great video
I chose pyro by I am a starter and saw pyro and thought haha funny cosiopath I did fail and fail at others but as I tried the game (my first day was only yesterday) I revised I am either a good heavy main or pyro main and wanted to be a pyro
I started quite before THE degreaser nerf and THE axetinguisher nerf (don't quite remember the year now) but I've gone through only two of the stages you listed... I know it's not a serious generalization, but still... I picked up the class specifically for the amount of possible combos... As soon as I unlocked the degreaser, flaregun and axetinguisher, I equipped them and began training to combo with them, eventually alternating them with more niche or more powerful secondary weapons after mastering them, while training airblasting in airblast servers...
I've reached stage 10 a year or so ago and to keep the game fun i take long breaks (2-3 months) to get rid of my muscle memory and when i come back i go to whatever i want and eventualy start pubstomping again. Thanks for making this video, i was waiting for someone to make this because WAMO just like... exists... Keep it up champ. Edit: Fun loadout: Dragon's Fury, stock shotgun and backscratcher.
my journey with pyro started out with scorchshot axtinguisher combos, and then i discovered the flare gun and haven't looked back lol, the flare gun combo and reflects are some of the most satisfying things in the game
I was a tier 6.5 flanker pybro pyro, but I now main medic. And yes, the stage 10 pyro and heavy medic-draw affect is real, but not as intense as the stage 11 enraged Hoovie heavy. Hoovies have trancended the game and medics cannot help but pocket them. I've seen teams suddenly gain 3 medics when none existed just to pocket the affronted hoovie.
As I watch this video I've realized how far I've come and how accurate this video is. Not too long ago I started messing around with the dragons fury, a weapon I used to hate using, going on uncle Dane servers and subscribing to more tf2 youtubers. It's wild how accurate this is. Thank you for this video

pretty cool how pyro succeeds at his original purpose.

Heavy is also W+M1,
Demo is W+M2+M1
Soldier is also W+M1
Medic is W+M1 with the medigun
Spy is well spy
Snipers are cowards
Scouts are annoying little shits
🤓
how do you do m1, what even is it?
@@SolarFlare9714 m1 is just mouse 1, left click button on your mouse, generically the button used to fire your weapon
@@zacharybartlett7677 thank you
1000/10 better than WAMO's 10 Stages. Ive been waiting for this moment
I just tried watching it... it was so... insubstantial.
@@lullypawp3479 I know right?
Did you remix the music too? The dedication!
When I was still a beginner at the game, and was starting to get the hang over pyro, I used to think that since the airblast consumed a somewhat bulky chunk off of your ammo, as opposed to the primary flames attack, it was supposed to mean that it was by itself a special attack that did more damage as opposed to the flames, but in reality it just pushes them back😂(except if you're deflecting rockets and grenades at your enemy, obviously)
amazingly accurate. I'm 50 hours in and your video almost fully captures what I feel like playing pyro!
I have 22 hours on pyro but play like stage 3
I can't aim with fury
Oh wait it's actually what is supposed to happen
I ended up switching to medic as my main while I was in a transitional period between phase 2 and phase 3. Still, pyro is one of my favorite classes thanks to his wide array of support capabilities.
I always want to play pyro, but no one on the team picks medic ;-;
@@theshade0038 I am a Medic main that sometimes switches to Scout and I tell you, if you ever feel like trying another class, go for it! Some games don't need Medics I've found, and sometimes end up benefiting from other classes a lot more
@@kassiaactuallydraws9361 sadly, i suck with every class i play, my second main is Pyro, and i suck even with him
@@theshade0038 Felt that. Dw man, I suck as well, but there's no better way to improve than by trying!
@@kassiaactuallydraws9361 i have almost 1.6k hours :(
At this point, i think i cant improve anymore
4:04 did he just dabbed
Yepped
I can’t find a main I like pyro and demo the most but I can’t stick with just 1 lol
You forgot the stage of being furry
I have 50h of playing pyro and all I just can say I somehow jumped from a stage 5 back to stage 4 and can't leave it no matter what.
this is actually a lot better then wamo’s video on the 10 stages of pyro. I recently hit 300hrs on pyro and this is pretty accurate.
Damn, I’m a new Pyro main (only 2 hours) and this video made me feel awesome about my pyro skills, thanks
Due to pyros many playstyles and heavy’s, SHOOT AND DIE, play style is much less as difficult than to use many weapons in combination.
you assume people play TF2 more than 100h on record.
i say as i have over 10k hours across multiple sandbox/building games like Gmod and Space Engineers
you know whats great about watching old tf2 videos, because the game gets no updates the content is never irrelevant. love it
I did I Huntsman arrow reflect I can never not try again I did not know you could but now I am starting to like Pyro
play pyro > team yells at me bc we need a medic > switch to medic > get yelled at bc we need a pyro > yell at team that maybe THEY are the incompetent ones > get votekicked > restart the cycle
This video made me realize that I have a long way to go before getting good (less than 20 hrs)
Thank you for making this video! ⭐
I think I was on stage 6 when I quit. Now when I came back for 2 weeks I just get sad cuz I can’t airblast for shit anymore. Demomans don’t fear me no more ;-;
ok, but like... What else are you supposed to do other than W+M1? Just, not shoot them?
my experience with the game was weird because i started out only reading about it, meaning i knew about the game when i started, and then i played tetragon fortress on roblox before finally moving on to tf2, and even after that i still play tetragon fortress and tc2 regularly. because of that my playtime for most classes in tf2 is like 6 hours or something.
i was just rewatching this video and 5:34 is literally me wtfff
If I had to say I’d be about a stage 6 since I’ve never been very good at multiplayer games but I’m not a w+m1 kinda pyro
I’m thinking of getting into tf2 but I feel like it’s so far in the games life and I don’t know where to start, should I just download the game and q into casual?
yes, it'll be around for several years at least, and lots of beginner-friendly community servers
@@Pirateer5 thanks, I’ll download it today and hop in.
I got phlog early around stage 2 and so I never had the airblast experience's and atm my loadout is phlog, flare, and whatever seems cool as a melee
I play all classes and don’t main one but I play pyro to have fun not to do the best I can relate to these stages and I went through a couple but I like pyro for my wacky creations of loadouts still great video
dont usually watch this channel but the sfm art is top-notch!
I chose pyro by I am a starter and saw pyro and thought haha funny cosiopath I did fail and fail at others but as I tried the game (my first day was only yesterday) I revised I am either a good heavy main or pyro main and wanted to be a pyro
Def better than Wamo's video
This is false when I picked up pyro for the first time I was already at stage 4, although this is a good video for teaching other pyro mains
YES YES YES, ANOTHER VIDEO THANKS MAN I ALWAYS LOVE UR VIDEOS :D
You mean the 2 stages of a pyro main: noob and furry??
Can't believe you have done this
pick pyro for the soldier/demo tryhards, beautiful.
I have played about 10-15 hours and im partly in stage 4
I can't speak for everyone, but it sure as hell did not take me 20 hours to learn how to reflect projectiles.
Not ashamed to say the Phlogistinator is my favourite weapon in the game for reasons I can't describe
@slivervibes silvervider Yes.
Ummm wasn't there already a 10 stages pyro still like the video due
I flawlessly pulled off a ctf 2fort in less than 4 minutes yesterday as pyro
As a Pyro main, i can confirm that at the stage i'm at, everything is correct
I've reached stage 10 a year or so ago and to keep the game fun i take long breaks (2-3 months) to get rid of my muscle memory and when i come back i go to whatever i want and eventualy start pubstomping again.
Thanks for making this video, i was waiting for someone to make this because WAMO just like... exists...
Keep it up champ.
Edit: Fun loadout: Dragon's Fury, stock shotgun and backscratcher.
W+M1 is the only way
Because I can’t use airblast effectively
FINALLY SOMEONE MADE THIS VIDEO!
dude i wished someone made this vid sooner, tho i wish you included the og music
As a heavy main i do like pyro mains
(They're good for my K/D)
my journey with pyro started out with scorchshot axtinguisher combos, and then i discovered the flare gun and haven't looked back lol, the flare gun combo and reflects are some of the most satisfying things in the game
4:48 so your telling me i might stops playing my dopamine rush class
yes this all of this happend to me.
but now maybe they update the game or something
I was a tier 6.5 flanker pybro pyro, but I now main medic. And yes, the stage 10 pyro and heavy medic-draw affect is real, but not as intense as the stage 11 enraged Hoovie heavy. Hoovies have trancended the game and medics cannot help but pocket them. I've seen teams suddenly gain 3 medics when none existed just to pocket the affronted hoovie.
As a Pyro main I've wanted this for so long...
As I watch this video I've realized how far I've come and how accurate this video is. Not too long ago I started messing around with the dragons fury, a weapon I used to hate using, going on uncle Dane servers and subscribing to more tf2 youtubers. It's wild how accurate this is. Thank you for this video
I disagree with the stereotype. There are combo pyros and aggro pyros, and they don't always overlap.
Ah yes, good ol' *"""""combos""""""*. Use one of the most cancerous mechanics to stunlock people and then do the combo, so "much" skill and effort put into this
Honestly i love Pyro and i love being a Pyro main
Hey, make more videos please. I like them
