- This will be a leisurely exploration of realMYST, the 3D remake of Myst. These videos are good for fun facts, time-wasting, and cheesy jokes, but bad for a quick show-me-the-answer-now walkthrough.

Yup, that's right. Ti'ana is Atrus's grandmother, Ghen's mother. Ti'ana is her D'ni name, however she mainly went by Anna. She raised Atrus after Ghen abandoned him at birth until Ghen came back to 'claim him' when Atrus was in his early teens. She lived with Atrus and Catherine on Myst after trapping Ghen on Riven.

I actually like reading in video games, like this example. Morrowind and Oblivion as well. Sometimes, it's important to understand something better and reading is the way to do it.
Some people may think that video games are meant to rot our brains, but I like to think that they can meant to enrich them too.

Showing off about prolonging the puzzle - hmm, no longer totally playing the fool, but this annoyed me at the time. heh. As for the ceiling rant... I agree with you.
When you say "And look at that!" I expected you to comment on the bird flying by and then you don't. Gets me every time.
Yeah, Ti'ana is Atrus's grandmother. You can learn more about her by reading the Myst novels. I actually have Myst: The Book of Atrus. It was a good read and helps explain a lot of the background of the Myst series.
i really like your casual, informative style. and btw, "i still wanna know what the jump key is...... sorry that was terrible" i disagree, it gave me a good chuckle. lol.
It's definitely an ordinary bird that was designed to look better against a blue sky than a yellow one. In the real world it would create a shadow under these conditions, but here it's programmed to always show white, which is why it looks strange.
@TimmyTheNerd There's two. The "Book of Atrus" is pre-Myst, and the "Book of Ti'ana" is pre, uh, that last one. Then there's a post-Riven one called the "Book of D'ni". They've sold all three in an omnibus thingie, if you want to check those out. They're fascinating reads.
Ha ha, on the original Myst there's a glitch where the seagulls fly through the boat's sails.

To me it looks more like a dragon flying around. Though it could be just a bird. I like the dragon idea better, though. =P But that's definitely a flying creature. The wings are easy to notice and they are flapping.
I'm pretty sure that's a seagull, programmed to look natural against a blue sky, but not necessarily a yellow one.
Can I just say that I really like the way you do these? Because the time you take to make fun of or explain any particular aspect of Myst island really shows how much time you've put into learning the game and I think that's really awesome :)

The Mechanical Age guide said the sky would turn from gray to blue when the natives' enemy was destroyed completely. ...yeah.

You are correct, since she's the mother of Gehn. I believe there's a book that covers everything pre-Myst but I can't remember the name.

Ti'ana is actually Atrus's mother. Atrus married a D'ni woman names K'trin, but Atrus kept getting her name mixed up with Catherine that he just stuck with the Englishized name.
Catherne is Rivenese, not D'ni.
It be a shame if after moving the hands on the clock and crossing over, that some one else happens to hit the button so that you would be stuck there forever, even though you can probably jump back, with a running start of course.

I played the original MYST on an old computer. Once you had been to a location, there was like a lightning bolt thing where you could get there faster, instead of walking a long ways you could just zip right over there.
When you looked at the Gear book, you never explained how you figured out the right codes to raise the steps to get to the clock island, or the code for the gears. Not sure how you got those numbers. Been a long time since I played and a long time since you made this video

I feel like the aspect ratio is wrong in these videos. In fact I'm fairly certain it is.

Is this game scary in any way? The environment gives of a bit of a creepy aura
drawing at a seem of a book sucks. So i buy ringed sketch books now and tape the pages together.
