I think the 1.2 did not have enough torque. If he worked the clutch more to get the engine to higher rpm he would have got more power, but that's how you break a clutch.
just got me the last Duster2 DCI Extreme. These slopes that stopped the new one...we pass them with mine with no stoping in the 2nd gear probably. I love it....
1.5 dci now on new duster with mild hubrid system or 1.2 tce 140+hp with lpg system, the new one is very pretty but with the current engines is a city car.

You gave the duster a substantial advantage with the all-terrain tires vs. the summer tires on the A6. And still, the A6 bested it practically anywhere. Maybe the hybrid with automatic gearbox would fare a bit better, but just maybe: not all the 4x4 systems are created equal.
The problem is not peak power. 130hp is a lot. but it lacks torque down low. with such a small turbo engine and a manual transmission on a hill you need to either go at least ~10-12kph to have enough rpm to spool the turbo and have enough torque, otherweise the engine will not have enough power and slow down until stalling - or you have to ride the clutch a lot to keep the revs high enough. best way is to try to take of as quickly as possible and let the clutch out once you have at least 2000rpm to avoid burning it. can be challenging but is not different to other cars with smaller petrol engines like a toyota jimny or lada niva etc.. it is much easier to do this scenario with a torque converter automatic or a bigger engine that has more power down low, but the driver also looks a bit inexperienced with the car. feels like it could do better once you have a better feeling for it despite the small engine.
Exactly right. Ever since coming back to Europe I'm fascinated by the incapacity of the whole European Car Industry to actually build a car for off road capabilities. Sure it is a niche - but it is one that is needed to be filled. Fire services, police, contractors servicing remote areas to name a few professionals... and of course while in Europe we build all these massive camper vans some people want to just have a good car and a tent. But these are the ones getting punished because its an S-U-V... I'd love to have a small capable Off Road vehicle somewhere between the Jimny and the Landcruiser... But the Duster is basically a car for people who drive their kids to Football Practice. The only thing available here is the Brexit-Guy Landcover copy ... which is MASSIVE. Way too massive. Duster should've been it. Basically a better LADA... But Renault ruined it for mass-market-production
the little turbo 1.2 which the Duster has does not have much low end torque. A 1.4 4-cyl turbo would do the job easily. On the other hand, push a little bit more and then you're gonna have more torque at medium/high rpms
@@garminbreak why? you just start with a little bit more gas and you do not use clutch anymore after you engage torque. Petrol engine has better torque at medium/high rpms, you can keep pushing till 4500rpm with same strength. The Jimny is just like this, you just gotta use a different style. Most important thing is that first gear is short enough, that's all you need.
@@ADiD4Sr0x Channel owner really does not recommend drive with slipping clutch. For occasional use, Duster's 1st gear is short enough, but not for daily offroading. Duster's 2000 rpm on first gear means speed 10 km/h and it is too much for rock crawling or climbing on steep ramps. In case of daily slipping clutch You will need new one after 1 month. Same words said testers of brand new Dusters on Dacia test playground in Malaga 3 monyhs ago. All test cars had worn clutches only after 1 week of "offroad" test drives.

Just keeps 2500rpm instead of 1800, like with the Jimny. Well 10km/h for 2000rpms would be super good (like 30:1 of crawl ratio), but I think that's not the case. I think 1st gear is a bit longer (about 12-13km/h). Yeah, I agree it's not for serious offroading, just talking about some daily fun. For this kind of use even the new one is good enough. @@DusterCoolTravels sure, it' clearly dies earlier (same slope, same vehicle speed)....also, both cars in this video seemed to have extensively burned clutches....trying to counteract slope(s) with slow speed/higher torque/higher rpm, minimizing the help of momentum (which in the case of low clearance Audi would be impossible anyhow.....it would suffer damages, both in front and rear bumper areas)..... Audi however seems to have more efficient AWD system, but this I cannot really be sure of....
Am Duster 1, 1.5dci 4x4. Îți merg cu el tot traseul ăla doar în 2x4, cu cotul pe geam și muzica la maxim, ca la nuntă. Pune un șofer care știe ce face dacă vrei să scoți ceva în evidență. Cu siguranță Dacia nu a creat un model mai slab decât ce am eu... Am testat Duster 3 hibrid și sunt sigur că poate parcurge traseul respectiv fără probleme.
J’ai moi aussi un 1.5L Dci et je passerai sans problème aussi. Je doute que le problème vienne du conducteur. Ce moteur essence a l’air d’être une merde sans couple. En plus si c’est une boîte automatique gérer l’embrayage doit être impossible

How do you feel about moving to the new Duster? Do you miss old one capabilities? After I tested new one for a day, I will stay with my 2020 1.33tce, 150hp 4x4. It's way better.
La acea urcare, ambreiajul s-a incins din cauza soferului. Am vazut ca nu erai tu la volan (tu filmai probabil), dar gaseste alt sofer pentru filmari pentru ca acesra iti va distruge masina. Daca vei pastra acest sofer, la iarna nu vei mai avea ce filma pe traseu.

Masinile din clip au acelasi pret! Doar daca Audi-ul este cumparat SH cu vreo 5-6 ani vechime cel putin. Altfel, A6 Allroad nou este de la 70000 in sus. Cu diferenta dintre un A6 allroad mai putin dotat si unul full cu suspensie adaptiva iti iei un Duster :)) Fiecare dintre ele are avantajele ei si bineinteles cumparatorii ei! Ok. Urmează și altele si o sa fie mai apropiate de ale lui cosmin. La această ieșire am vrut sa vad cat de incet poate fi condus pe anumite urcări, chiar dacă am forțat ambreiajul si pare ca nu se descurca. Următorul clip o să va demonstreze că se descurcă. Si inca f bine 💪

Duster has a 48V mild hybrid system, which is really helping a lot for starting up. not sure if it has the electric engine in tranmission, because in that case is really good approach. foir example,Peugeot has now some mild hybrid models, e.g. new 3008, with electric motor into transmission having 50Nm torque, which really help to start up.
Comparing a high-end car, which is all about highways, winter and comfortable driving, with a "bucket" designed for the forest is incorrect. But it is good that this test shows that a car that is not intended for real off-road use is better than the DASTER.

In my opinion, i think that the duster is a little bit different from the other city SUV, because of the Attack's angle and the exit angle and the centimeter fromnthe terrain. It allow you to some Mountain trail, obiously in not a RAM Or RANGER or an Hilux, Jimny, Bronco, land Cruiser. But duster in an intermediate off road SUV. Cheers

Off-road nu inseamna doar un test de diagonala. Nu zic ca nu urca dar de multe ori ai nevoie sa mergi si incet(peste bovani mai mari / diverse obstacole, sau in urcari mai abrupte). Motorul asta nu are cuplu jos ca un diesel si nu are nici reductor, deci ești obligat sa ii dai tare sau sa o tii din ambreiaj.

@@DusterCoolTravels then maybe more rpm were needed. this 1.2 engine should not go under 2000rpm in that situations. another think is if mild-hybrid battery was empty in that moment. Duster has a 48V mild hybrid system, which is really helping a lot for starting up. not sure if it has the electric engine in tranmission, because in that case is really good approach. foir example,Peugeot has now some mild hybrid models, e.g. new 3008, with electric motor into transmission having 50Nm torque, which really help to start up.

Comparing a high-end car, which is all about highways, winter and comfortable driving, with a "bucket" designed for the forest is incorrect. But it is good that this test shows that a car that is not intended for real off-road use is better than the DASTER.
The duster is an ok car... but that engine, 1.2l, 3 cylinder, has 230Nm torque, probably at 5000RPM, very weak for this type of off-road.

@@DusterCoolTravels wth a 100k km+ one maybe, so I know that amount of km is nothing for a good motor but don't compare used cars with out of catory ones.. With that logic my Guy, a jeep wrangler with 200k+ km will put to misery both these cars in offroad situations...

Both are SUVs, not off-roaders. What's the point of testing an SUV off-road? SUVs are made for cities, asphalt, etc.
In my opinion, i think that the duster is a little bit different from the other city SUV, because of the Attack's angle and the exit angle and the centimeter fromnthe terrain. It allow you to some Mountain trail, obiously in not a RAM Or RANGER or an Hilux, Jimny, Bronco, land Cruiser. But duster in an intermediate off road SUV. Cheers

Audi "Allroad" is definitly not made for offroad: bad angles, low ground clearance. However the 4x4-drive works pretty good.

Din pacate, capacitatile off-road ale noului Duster au scazut destul de mult din cauza noului motor..
Nu a scăzut deloc, e doar șoferul slăbuț.
Vezi ultimul video al lui Cosmin MCS. Omul are foarte multă experiență în off-road cu Duster.
Off-road nu inseamna doar un test de diagonala. Nu zic ca nu urca dar de multe ori ai nevoie sa mergi si incet(peste bovani mai mari / diverse obstacole, sau in urcari mai abrupte). Motorul asta nu are cuplu jos ca un diesel si nu are nici reductor, deci ești obligat sa ii dai tare sau sa o tii din ambreiaj.

Audiu nu duce mai mult de atat ca are garda la sol mica și unghiul de atac slab, dacă filmau pe un traseu mai dificil se rupea audili :)
In schimb are probabil cauciucurile mai late și deci aderența mai bună plus putere mai mare si de asta nu se oprea motorul acolo unde se oprea la duster
